[20:00] you sat in silence by the window overlooking the street whilst he ordered a cup of hot chocolate for himself and you, a bitter americano. he watched you nervously by the counter and noticed the eyebags lingering underneath your eyes that were once full of life.

jaehyun sighed once the barista called out his name and retreated back to where he left you.

“here you go,” he mumbled out quietly before placing your drink in front of you. he missed the way you quickly and subtly wiped the tears under your eyes. it was hard sitting in front of someone you loved so dearly and someone who had kept your heart safe for years.

“thank you,” you said in a quiet voice. the silence was almost deafening albeit the music playing in the background. you sipped your beverage quickly and avoided his stare incase you ended up spilling more tears than necessary.

“how have you been?”

“i’ve been okay. and you?”

“i’m moving soon.”

his words made the ache in your heart deepen. the many months you were trying to avoid reality seemed to catch up with you sooner than you would like. once he was gone, you knew he would take a part of you with him.

“i wish you happiness yn, i really do,” he whispered, reaching out for your hand. when you didn’t shy away from his touch, he envelops your hand in his and squeezes it for the last time.

“maybe when things finally look up, we can find our way back into each other’s lives.”

“maybe,” you mumbled, pulling your cold hand away from his grip.
