I'm kinda getting tired of people saying that most/all autistic people are lgbt. I mean I'm sure a lot are but the reasons people give for saying that are just so infantilizing. I saw someone say that autistic people are more likely to be 'pansexual' because they care more about personality than genitals. And that just seems so patronising. I'm autistic and I'm a big fan of genitals actually. We're not children.

And there's the whole thing with autistic people being more likely to identify as trans and that just has such an obvious explanation that people don't seem to see. Growing up autistic is so confusing and scary that every aspect of your identity feels incorrect because of the way people treat you. You assume there is something inherently wrong with you and you may wish to change it. So obviously that would include identifying as a different gender in an attempt to make yourself feel more 'normal'. But eventually you'll discover that changing yourself doesn't help.

I know this probably makes no sense but yeah I just wanted to talk about it.

being told it’s normal if your clothes hurts you and you have to endure it

being told it’s normal if sex hurts you and you have to endure it

not finding basic information about your biology and sexual organs through most of your life

being told that pain is a normal part of your life

being told that if you are a “good girl” you’ll endure it without complaint

being told you should be grateful for the rights you have and finding out in the past you wouldn’t even have these rights

getting brutally shut down if you try to stand up for yourself

getting forced into a role of serving men because “it’s woman’s job”

having your labor dismissed as worthless and stupid 

but you have to keep doing it anyway or you’ll get punished

anything you do is considered worth less and generally dismissed

realizing men’s work is praised and glorified even when they do harmful and environmentally destructive work for selfish purposes

realizing you can’t do anything about it and feeling less worthy even when you do more work and more necessary and useful work

having your compassion used against you

having your energy and emotional labor used by men who demand you to listen to them and comfort them and stroke their ego

being laughed at and invalidated and called slurs and insults when you try to talk about your own problems

being called selfish, dramatic, crazy, delusional and damaged when you expect basic decency and compassion

being treated like you’re insane and hysteric if you display any kind of anger at how badly you’re being treated

feeling infuriated at double standards and for how harshly you’re judged and punished while men can get away with anything

doubting your own senses and considering if you really are crazy

being ignored as a human being, your intelligence dismissed, only thing that seems to have any worth is your body but you get shamed, objectified, sexualized, used, violated, predated on and hurt 

hating your body and wishing it was a different body, one that nobody would hurt and violate

feeling completely helpless and alone

the phrase "trans joy is resistance" always makes me giggle... aside from sounding corny as fuck, it's like... the majority of y'all thrive on being miserable. refuse to combat dysphoria by any means other than suicide-baiting your way to an operating table. exist in a constant state of hostility and paranoia because you can't control how people perceive you. if experiencing joy is resisting anything, it's your own god damn ideology 😭

being a girl and hitting puberty is so traumatic. you go from being a genderless little free thing to being hit with shaving and makeup and growing breasts and skincare and menstruation and suddenly being sexualised when like a few years ago you could take your shirt off to play in the stream and trade yugioh cards with the boys and come home covered in mud and not even think about it. and then you spend years hating being a girl and hating everything puberty did to you and wishing you could be a boy or be completely genderless again and it takes you Many years to come to terms with yourself Or you simply try to Lean In to everything and do makeup tutorials on YouTube and claim it’s for fun. like how can this be treated as normal

Oof so today my mum said that she has a trans friend and we got talking about it so I mentioned that I don't really understand it and she said "well you were transgender when you were a kid"

I asked what made her think that and she said its because I once said I wanted to be a boy... but the reason I said that was because I wanted to join the army and women weren't allowed in combat roles at the time. She said that it doesn't matter and that I still would have been trans?? How???
