The makings of a squadron of Colonial Marines underway! I have another commission I am going to work on, but until it prints and my week slows down, I'm working on this guy.

I agree! It is not only therapeutic, but you learn a skill and can watch yourself get better.
Unfortunately, my hobby takes up so little of my life these days. I am working 10+ hour days 5 days a week, have to cook meals, prep my stuff for the next day...rinse and repeat M-F. Not to mention chores and other obligations sprinkled in each week.. Add job hunting on top of all this. If I'm lucky, I get a few hours over the weekend to paint, which isn't much.
im not being funny but artistry will save your life. music, painting, pottery, writing, carving, weaving, the act of creating will save you.

You make what you make, how you make it.
I know it is so easy to look at others' work and feel like yours is not comparable to it. Don't do this!
We all are at our own place in our craft. Some have been here years or decades longer than you and have more tools at their disposal than you do. Some just started and may need a little help from you, who knows a bit more than they do.
Someone has better shading on their minis than you do? They could be using speed paints, which take little skill to use. They could have tried for the last hour and got frustrated and nearly quit.
Someone has better lineart than you do? They may be using tools in the software to do that. They may have watched hours of videos after crying about their work not being good enough.
People typically post only the perfect outcome of their products- they do not show you the struggles along the way. I can have moments where I hate my work and want to start over- but I remember that it is fixable and that is why I thin my paint-- to allow layers to be built up or covered if I mess up. I also know that I can just start over if thr piece gets that bad.
Keep at your craft and you will see progress. We will never be perfect, but we can sure learn a lot on the way and look back at our old work and see improvement. That is what matters.

Paint, draw, write... do it again and again until you get better! Practice makes progress. You'll never be perfect, but you'll get better.
People typically only show the good pieces of art, so take the work of others with a grain of salt and do your best to not compare yourself to them. Keep at your craft and you will see yourself get better, I promise.

"The Pillars of Nosgoth... pristine, whole and uncorrupted.
I had never beheld them in this undefiled state - yet something profound and indelible resonated within me at the sight.."
Raziel is done! I went for the Soul Reaver 2 style, since he is on the corrupted pillar.
He was so fun and I got to practice more OSL! Having Raziel as a mini makes me so happy, as the LoK series is very close to my heart.
I hope you like him!

Cranked out this Keeper of Secrets over about 10 hours this last weekend. Not something I want to do often, but staying up until 2 am on a Saturday until I literally had nothing except metallics left to do was fun.
This is hopefully the start of my Old World army, centered in slaaneshi demons.

"I know you, Raziel. You are worthy..."
WIP of Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series (one of my favorite stories!)
I really love this sculpt! And I'm really loving how he's coming along.

WIP for a commission: Hyrule Warriors Link!
This file had great detail, so it's really coming out while painting.
Stay tuned! This piece is still very young.
If you're interested in a commission, feel free to message me!

Sparta: the warrior city state of Ancient Greece. Most Spartan soldiers (called Hoplites) were heavy infantry who fought side by side with their allies. Standing in battle formation, shield to shield, they created the phalanx: a near impenetrable shield wall that few enemies could pass. From age 7, Spartan boys were trained to be warriors, whose greatest honor would be to lay down their lives for their city state during battle. The Spartans are most famous for their stand at the gates of Thermopylae where 300 of them, along with their king and some 7000 allies, stood off against Xerxes and the Persian Empire.
Do you like the historical minis? Do you want to see more of this kind of content? Let me know!

The Hero of Time! (The file is Skyward sword Link, but I made it Ocarina of Time Link for my wife).
I had fun with this one! I got to practice shading and highlights, especially on his cap and hair. I'm still feeling out non metallic metal effects.

The Bokoblin itself is pretty much done! I may add some highlights etc, but I'm pretty happy with it. I may do another one and try sanding it down with very fine grit paper to help the paint stick more.

I am starting to work on my Bokoblin! I like their character design in the newer games, as they look more pig-like and a little menacing, honestly.
I am getting the hang of shorts, so please share it with your friends!
