I see your "chaotic dad Feanor" and I rise my "Chaotic goofy dad Feanor, who means well but tends to embarrass his children"
I laughed because the first thing that came to my mind is Maedhros coming out as trans. Feanor promptly started a political rally on the right of inheritance for his trans son, and the importance of trans rights.
Fingolfin: Yeah, I am not against this in the slightness.
Eldar: This is something new but we like new concepts so ok.
Everybody: We are ok with this, we really are, there is no need for further discussions, why are you still screaming?
Feanor, still shouting: BTW, TRANS RIGHTS ARE ELDAR RIGHTS!!!
Maedhros, embarrassed in the back: Can somebody shoot him down or must I do it by myself?

Okay so I saw that ask about Fingon thinking if Mae had abandoned him at his death and just remembered that in the narrative the feanorians did in fact flee the battlefield after Fingon's death (if I remember correctly?) and oh, it hurts more now
This is so sad if you think that this is probably one of Maedhros' worst nightmare 😭

Feanor being always over the top is my favourite thing and this is why I'm fully with you about him being a disastrous dad when he tries to be the BEST dad of all Valinor but he has seven son and a job, and that isn't easy AT ALL
I agree, Feanor is SO MUCH and over the top all the time, and this is so funny and ironically tragic, sometimes I wish the Silmarillion was written more like a (tragic)comedy.
like, Your dad decide to get re-married?: why don't you HATE THE WHOLE FAMILY EVEN IF YOU KNOW YOUR OTHER SIBLINGS HAVE NO FAULT IN THIS?
You fear your half-brother will usurp your right to become king (even if technically your father is immortal and there's no way he will die unless he gets killed, so why you are even worried you dumb ass bitch?) but still, why don't you THREATEN YOUR BROTHER WITH A SWORD IN FRONT EVERYONE AND SO MAKE YOU AND YOUR SON GO TO EXILE, SO YOUR FATHER CAN FOLLOW YOU AND YOUR BROTHER CAN RULE OVER THE NOLDOR AND OMG FEANOR, THAT'S SO STUPID
Does the God of Chaos slightly imply someone could maybe steal your silmarills? why don't you SHOUT HIM TO GET OUT OF YOUR PROPERTY AND SLAP YOUR GATE IN HIS FACE?
The goddess of earth asks you if you can give her to restore the magic trees otherwise the world will stay in darkness until the Valar find a better idea, so why don’t you STAY SILENT, ACCUSE THE GODS TO BE THIEVES AND DO YOU KNOW WHO CAN SAY NO TO YAVANNA, DEAR TULKAS? THIS BITCH. THIS BITCH CAN AND WILL.
Did you asked nicely to your friends to give you their ships and they said no? Why don’t you start A MASSACRE, THEN STOLE THE SHIPS, BURN THEM, LET PEOPLE WALK THE ICE OR WHATEVER, DID YOU FORGOT YOUR SON ON THE SHIP? OPS THAT’S UNFORTUNATE!!!
Are you winning a battle? then why don’t you GO ON AND FIGHT AGAINST TEN BALROGS OR MORE ALONE, UNTIL YOUR WOUNDS KILL YOU AND THEN BURST INTO FLAMES JUST TO BE SO EXTRA.

Fingon always trusted Maedhros, this is why he never doubted he tried to stop his father from burning the ships, yet there’s that moment when he is surrendered by Balrogs in which Maedhros is late and he thinks, the moment before he dies, “did he betray me?” and that is the most saddest thing about Fingon’s death for me.
Why do you feel the need to break my heart right now?
I mean, I agree with you, and I saw this argument around already, but this is why I like even more the relationship between Fingon and Maedhros. It's because it's tragic.
I love tragic stories, and this is maybe why I liked so much the Silmarillion because it's so different from other Tolkien's works (And it's the only one I've read fully for now since, as I said before, I'm pretty new to the fandom).
I love how the friendship between Maedhros and Fingon, born in the pace of Aman, is already tricky since their father doesn't have the best relationship (even if my headcanon is that when they were young, Feanor and Fingolfin were a bit closer to each other, maybe not the best brothers, but their children were free to stay close).
I'm not a big fan of Russingon because I like more the idea of two friends being so close to risking everything for each other (Fingon going alone to save Maedhros even if he doesn't know if his friend has forgotten him, even if he believes Maedhros would never forsake him, there could be a moment in which he wondered. And the desperation and downfall of Maedhros after his friend's death is quite tragic even without the need for a romantic relationship); it's pretty easy to see why people like so much this ship.
This is for saying: the idea of Fingon trusting Maedhros fully for all this time and after all that happened, that last moment in. which he thinks "did he forsaken me and abandon me?" it's perhaps what hurts more than anything. Is this what broke Maedhros in the end? The idea of his best friend wondering if he had forgotten him, even after all he did for him?
Yeah, this is probably my favourite part, even if it hurts like hell.

Varda & Manwë  I wasn’t planning on drawing any Silmarillion art tonight but the inspiration hit so I decided to sketch and post this before I head to bed (besides…its been some time since I drew Silm art</3).
Hope I can work on this more once I develop their designs again!

People like to make elves as if they're this higher beings who are so hard to reach and relate to. I haven't got any kids nor siblings but must be hard being an elf with 7 kids who look 6 different versions of you and the other is as gentle as their mother and having to deal with a war, people who hate you for wanting the things that you made because
" helllooo that's my property, my dude, give it back -Feanor probably
Also, i have a silmarillon book but majority of my knowledge of feanor and fam are internet and fanfic hahaha you are now part of that knowledge
Hello! Sorry for the late answer, I’ve been overwhelmed by an incredible amount of work and I had to turn off all my social accounts.
Honestly, I feel weirdly close to the feanorians, probably because I have a large family with a lot of first cousins, and I can tell you this: rules among large family are a lot different from small families, and usually the oldest siblings have to care for the younger and it can be stressful in some ways (for example, I’m the oldest among my siblings/cousins, and I had to babysit all of them since my parents had a full time job. It was stressful, but mostly it push you to invent an exaggerate amount of rules and games to keep everyone busy. Again, it can be stressful, but it also teaches you how to be more responsible).
I say this because shenanigans between a lot of siblings and cousins are ensured, so I can imagine these little Feanorians creating an incredible number of mischief, and Feanor having to run everywhere to be sure that none of his children go killed by dangerous games and things like that.
Also, a lot of people argued that it was most probably Nerdanel to take care of the children but I honestly don’t agree. They both have a job, and it’s unlikely that only one parent cared for them.
Again, i think it’s sweet this version of Feanor slightly overwhelmed and sleep deprived that runs from a place to another to make sure every of his children are at least alive. Also, he probably suffered from the emotional distance he felt from Finwë (even if it was only in his mind) and I like to imagine him doing near everything for his children.

I know you are the only one who can probably understand me right now, but I’m studying Italian and, thank to you, now I’m in love with Mannarino. I can’t understand everything (does he sing with a specific dialect? Sometimes I find hard to understand translations) but I love his voice 😍 His last album is marvellous, I’m not sure if you can relate, but the song Aqua feels like something Maglor would sing while he wander the shores and I’m a bit crying about this.
1) I didn’t knew he came out with a new album and I’ve spent an entire evening listening to the new CD, now I’m in love with him even more. So thank you 💖
2) I’ve listened to that song and it isn’t a secret that I love his style, but DAMN that song is so melancholic and beautiful at the same time.
3) Maglor, singing in despair about the circularity of life with water as metaphor, probably referring to Maedhros in the meantime it's heart crushing.
4) Now I'm curled in a corner crying.
5) it's the last part that really made me see the reference about Mae and Maglor and I can't agree more
Ps: yes, Mannarino is from Rome and he usually sings in Romanesco (dialect from Rome) but not always, so I can understand how is hard to translate everything. Sometimes it's difficult for me too since it isn't my dialect.

Ok, but I never said that Fëanor was a bad father. dare I said the exact opposite: He loves deeply his sons and does all he can to demonstrate it to them.
For the way I read the character (and we can say there are a lot of ways to read such a poliedric elf) he always felt put said in his family and didn't matter how much Finwe tried with him, he always felt neglected (there are a lot to say about Fëanor and I would love to analyze in full his character, to be honest-)
What I meant with my answer, with a little jest because I wasn't 100% serious, is that I would found hilarious imagining Fëanor, the most skilled elf in Aman, going through the "new dad crisis" considering he has a full-time job, a wife that is most of the time pregnant (Nerdanel, are you alright, honey?) and SEVEN children to care about.
I mean, I imagine he would feel anxious on an extreme level considering he knows pregnancy can be dangerous for his wife (see what happened to Miriel) and he would never let his wife lift a finger in fear she would end like his mother.
Fëanor would forget his children at school and panic about it, run in the wood because... Where the hell is Tyelko??? Panic over every little bruise, and collapse asleep with still Curufin in his arms. This doesn't mean he loves his children less, this means that he is doing his best to be there for them.
For the same reason, I bet that his sons did whatever they could to help him (see Maedhros being the eternal babysitter) and following him everywhere (see: Formenos, Alqualondë, the oath).
About the difference between him and his brothers: I'm not sure I agree 100% with you.
You are right he has a craft and he's incredibly good at it while Fingolfin, Finarfin, Írimë and Findis don't (even if... we don't know if they have a craft or not?) and he doesn't care much for ruling, if not for the fact that he thinks it's his right.
I think the core of the rift between them is even deeper: Fëanor knows Finwë has chosen to get re-married even if this means that Míriel won't get to be re-embodied, and therefore for him, it means he has chosen Indis and her children over him, his mother, and consequentially he didn't care about his happiness.
I'm not saying this is 100% true, but I think this is how Fëanor sees his brothers, and why he felt always so "inadequate" with them and with the need to prove he's right as the first son and his bond with his father.
What i like about the tolkien world is that everyone has a backstory. Everyone can sort of relate to them and feanor is a boss to be able to takr care of 7 kids while having afull time job because o m g o d the twins!!!
I love Feanor because is such an interesting character. If you only read the Silmarillion you see him as evil, but if you know his backstory you can sympathize with him.
Also, I don't see why people see him as a bad father, from his experience I can't help myself but think about him as a father that would do everything for his sons.
At the same time, I adore imagining him to be awkward and a nerdy weirdo obsessed with metalwork, grammar and the type of father that panics very easily.
When Nerdanel told me they were expecting twins his first reaction was probably to curl into a ball in a corner and panic. (He is an expert when it comes to grammar and jewellery, but he sucks about everything else, so he was probably wondering how someone put another baby inside his wife.)

Feanor was so sleep-deprived that he counted Amras two times and this is why he didn't noticed that the other was still on the ship. Please let this man have a nap, he can't handle the stress anymore hhhhhh
Feanor was so sleep deprived he counted two times Amras and two times Maedhros, and he was convinced Nerdanel followed him too.
It was after a 20 minutes nap that he realised that he had half of the gingers and panicked
