Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria is such a weird theory because it's like there's a very obvious explanation for why middle school kids who didn't have dysphoria before might suddenly have dysphoria. Like huh weird I wonder what very obvious and widely known change that could cause kids to suddenly become very uncomfortable in their gender or sexual identity starts in between the ages of 10 and 14. Guess we'll never know. Must be peer pressure to *checks notes* become the only gender minority in your whole school singling you out for harassment by your peers. Couldn't be puberty suddenly giving you new body parts/bodily functions that are wrong for you.

as much as i prefer the movie canon when it comes to maleficent and diaval meeting in the ruins, i find it kind of touching how in the novel she doesn't drive him out and instead just silently watches him preen and eat his corn right on the ground in front of her and eventually leave

#ok. i need people who are more into ao3 than me to tell me what the culture of leaving comments on ao3 is #bc it might be that my ao3 audience is smaller than my rus ficbook audience but it just seems like leaving comments isn't a big thing on ao3 #if it's not pls tell me&release me from the cringe of putting 'pls tell me what you think how did you like it!' in the author's note #bc i too learnt that downplaying urself & sometimes even self-deprecating humour can get you feedback but not quite the right kind #as in. at least on the rus website i believe it does motivate ppl to comment. but it also comes with them hurting my feelings a bit ahah #for example i used to joke abt how infrequently i update my fics but that seemingly invited my audience to also joke about it #and frankly... it's only funny when i do it lol because i'm joking at my own expense not someone else's #that all is to say. gotta be appeasing enough to inspire people to comment but not enough for them to feel free-and-easy #and i think i manage it in my rus space well at this point but ao3 i just can't crack #so if commenting isn't a thing on ao3 i'll happily stop with my follow-up questions like i'm quizzing people lol #looking back my tags only tangentially have smth to do with the post but i hope it makes sense
