We were tasked with taking two key poses that were already drawn out for us, and using a piece of audio that our tutor supplied, we were to sound out the audio using techniques we were shown in class, and then arrange our drawings for the eyes, and mouth on separate levels to that of the moving figure.

I found this animation the trickiest of all, as I did not have the right level of experience at the time to give it a good go, but having to do mine now at the end has given me more time to develop and I feel it made for a better finished test in the end.

Self directed formal studies. I had wanted to get some interesting shapes and contours for my characters, so what I did was I gathered up some material that contrasted, whatever I could find that day, polythene sheet and some old cardboard,. and I crunched them together then tied it up with twine. It was very interesting as it gave me lots of unusual shapes and forms, shapes and suggestions of faces that I really wasn’t expecting, and I was actually prompted to draw one of the images as a study for our Monday drawing workshop with Roisin. The last image is the large drawing I did of the most interesting image from the set. I hope to do more experiments like this soon if I get some more time.

Turning Playtime into character studies :D Made him a minion and a peppa pig out of his play-dough (though I didn’t have any black so I had to improvise in places), but yeah, he loved them and was all too keen to pose alongside them for the pics haha

Atolla jellyfish (Atolla wyvillei)

The Atolls jellyfish is a species of deep-sea crown jellyfish. It lives in oceans around the world. Like many species of mid-water animals, it is deep red in color. It typically has 22 marginal tentacles and one hypertrophied tentacle which is larger than the rest. This long trailing tentacle is thought to facilitate prey capture. This species is bioluminescent. When attacked, it will launch a series of flashes, whose function is to draw predators who will be more interested in the attacker than itself. This has earned the animal the nickname “alarm jellyfish”.

Adobe Audition - Removing Noise, HIss or Background from Audio Files

Little video tip I came across earlier in the year which simply describes how to reduce background noise and static from sound files. This will come in handy when working with any foley I record for my short story sound effects.

Traditional Animation - Assignment 6

We were tasked with animating to sound. I found this sound file of a ball bouncing and then popping on a free sound effects website and I broke down the sound on the dope sheet, then I made my drawings. As usual, I used after effects to compile my assets and render the video. I’m happy with this one too :)
