A small cover for my fanfic. I’m not a writer, so theres probably a lot of mistakes in the story. Enjoy if you wanna read! This is linked to my future Tord AU.

It was a late night. All was quiet and still as the residents in the neighbourhood started to settle for bed.

In the yellow house with the red roof, a guy named Edd was sound asleep in his room, snuggling comfortably under his comforters. All was well, until he was stirred awake from the sound of tapping on his bedroom window. Feeling gruggy, Edd mumbled tiredly as he slowly sat up from his bed. Not fully awake, he stared into some distance, until he was snapped fully awake from the sound of the tapping again. Edd felt himself tense up as he looked wide eyed at his window. An intruder?

The tapping continued, and Edd gulped and gathered all his wits and slowly crept out of his bed. Just in case, he grabbed a golf club that his ginger-haired friend had gifted him for his last birthday and tiptoed to the window.

Feeling cautious, Edd slowly pulled the curtains open, and he stopped frozen in place as he saw a black figure sitting outside from his window. Edd couldn't do anything but let out a yelp and fell back onto the floor. What a rude awakening this was.

The suspicious figure opened the window with what appears to be a screwdriver, and stared down at the frightened man. Slowly, they climbed over the window panel and removed their black hood from their head. As Edd saw who it was, he took a deep breath and sighed in relief.

"Tord! You scared the living daylights out of me!" Edd said in a loud whisper, clearly still shaken up from the unexpecting invite of his old friend. Tord just stared and let out a chuckle as he jumped lightly onto the floor. "Heh, sorry, Edward. I'm just so used to visiting you through your room window." Edd just sighed irritatingly and got up from the floor. Despite the scare, he was happy to see Tord here. It has been a few months since they've seen eachother.

"Well despite your spooky invite in here, i'm really glad to see you! What are you doing here anyways? Aren't you supposed to be out on your mission?" Edd asked, tilting his head. Despite Tord being gone for a while, they still did catch up on calls and video chats. Edd is glad that Tord was getting better at commucation than before.

Tord waved his hand and shook his head like the mission was no big deal to him. "Yea, I was on it, but uh, my team and I had a few complications at the base,, but that's not important now. I'm just here to visit you."

Complications? Edd wondered, but there was no point prying Tord for more details due to how stubborn he can be. He just nodded and walked up to Tord, and without warning, Edd gave him a light hug with a warm smile. Tord tensed a bit, and felt his face warm, and hesitantly returned the hug.

"Well, glad you thought of seeing me, Tord. So uh, does Matt and Tom know you're here? I think they're still awake." Edd asked as he broke the hug. Tord could still feel the butterflies from the embrace, but quickly shook off the feeling, and shook his head.

"Nah, you're the only one who knows. Besides I just came to see you. I missed you." Edd smiled, and told him he missed Tord too. He really did.

Edd and Tord, now happy to see eachother, spent almost an hour chatting it up of whats been happening. Edd told Tord how boring it was when he left. But the adventures and mishaps he had with Tom and Matt were still just as fun. Tord has been on some cool and dangerous missions with his two partners named Pat and Paul, and while telling Edd the story, he was in awe, and a bit jealous.

"Wow Tord. Fighting demons in a haunted cavern must've been a blast! I sure wish I was there,, we haven't had any adventures together in awhile." Tord nodded, and felt a little guilt. He also missed the weird adventures he had with his cola loving friend and would love to go on them again, that is if it weren't for what was occurring right now. Tord knew he had to tell Edd why he really came here. He sighed and pat Edd's back.

"I know, Edd,, and I know one day we'll have them again. But for now,, it's not really the best time,,"

Edd was confused. "Uhm,, what do you mean by that?"

That's when Edd noticed a small black case Tord had in his hand. He'd just pulled it out of his coat pocket. Edd could see the dark look on his grungy friend's face and he started to feel worry grow in him.

"Tord?"

"Edward,, during my last mission, I ran into some huge trouble. I had to get back to base after being alerted of intruders invading into it"

Edd gave him a questioned look. "But you said it wasn't important?"

Tord just let out a sad chuckle and handed the black case over to Edd. Edd just stared at the case in complete confusion, but waited to open it after his friend gave him an explanation. Tord continued.

"Aliens, Edd. They were the intruders. We didn't take them seriously at first until they started to destroy everything in sight. Their big leader told us something precious was taken from them and if they can't find it, they'll continue to invade everything else and force us "humans" to serve for them like slaves. Their weapons were too advanced and dangerous even for our team. It's like their gadgets are from a different world, eheh,,, So we had no choice but to surrender and retreat. Then soon after, our leader ordered us to divide into different groups and spread out in each countries to protect and ready ourselves incase of an attack. Quite ridicoulious, huh? Us, a highly ranked and well trained army being defeated by a couple of aliens? I felt rather humiliated, not gonna lie,,"

Tord sigh and looked at a distant with a somber smile on his face. Edd was baffled from this whole story and could only stare at Tord in disbelief. He then looked down at the black case and decided to open it. It was a small silver like pen. It had a red and black button on the side of it, and the other side was an engraved Red army symbol. Edd furrowed his brows and asked. "That doesn't explain why you decided to come see me,, if you guys are in that much danger, shouldn't you be out on your duty to kill aliens? Or are you here just to waste your time?"

Tord shook his head and looked up at his sweet friend with a warm look, and placed his hand ontop of Edd's. Despite all of Tord's worries, one thing he was relieved of was that Edd and his friends were still safe from all the mishap. Edd was taken aback from the sudden gesture and felt his face warm a bit. This feeling confused Edd though. Why is his gremlin friend making him feel so weird?

"Isn't it obvious? I came to see if you were safe from the attack. Once those ugly things mentioned they were gonna invade other countries, the first thing I thought of was you and the other two's safety. I felt so afraid. So before my team and I had to venture out to our post, I requested to come and stop at London to see you. As tough as these guys are, they're so understanding and helped me out with this,, Edward, I was worried about you,, I wanted to come see if you were okay, and before I leave again, the device you're holding was invented by my leader himself. It's a handheld force field that not even aliens can penetrate through. If an attack ever happened here in your city, this thing will help you protect you guys."

Edd was touched by this. Even after all these years including months of Tord being away to fulfill his duties, all this time he was thought about. Knowing this warmed Edd's heart. He smiled happily at Tord and gave his hand a squeeze. "Aw Tord, you know Tom, Matt and I are prepared for any invasion. Hell, even a zombie one. I bet even without this device thingy, we could easily survive this alien invasion. But uh,, yet you still came to see me, to see if I was safe? I gotta say, buddy, that's really sweet of you to come by."

Tord was a bit surprised. Him, sweet? He didn't think his friend thought of him that way, but it made him chuckle as he inched closer to Edd, looking at his sweet cola friend with such gratefulness. No wonder Tord loved being Edd's bestest friend, maybe even more one day,, But he shook off the thought, no way that'll ever happen.

"Oh I know,, just thought you might need the extra help, eheh,,"

Edd smiled back and fiddled with the shield device in his hand. As much as he enjoyed Tord's company though, a thought came to interrupt Edd's moment. He knew Tord would have to take his departure after this. That thought made Edd feel a sting in his chest. It sadden him. Tord saw the look on his face and it wasn't hard to tell what his friend was thinking about. He sighed and wrapped his arm around the other's shoulder and pulled him in for a hug and comfort. Edd let out a hurt huff and rested his head against Tord's shoulder. "You're gonna have to go soon, huh? To,, you know,, battle aliens?"

Tord nodded with a sad look. He lightly rubbed Edd's back and the sensation made the green brocolli boy calm his worried thoughts as he sighed happily and nuzzled more into Tord. This made the tough soldier's heart melt, a feeling like he never felt. Tord was gonna miss this the most. Before he left, Edd and Tord were always close friends, even to the point where holding eachother in such comforting embraces were normal to the two. But somehow, the momemt was much sweeter than all the other times.

"Don't worry your little head off, Edd. I won't be gone too long. I'm sure those aliens are more bark than bite. Before you know it, this whole invasion thing will be over with, and finally you and I will have more time together,, just the two of us."

Edd nodded and chuckled. "Oh yeah I know that. You're way more tougher than those bad guys. You'll be able to take them all in no time, well,, knowing how crazy you can be.

Tord snickered and agreed. But in the back of his mind, he didn't know how true his words were. The soldier knew that this situation was more serious than the past battles he's had. Already the aliens had invaded many countries in the UK, and maybe will go to a next state in the world. The thought made him twinge with a bit of fear. There was alot that Tord and his teammates will have to clean up, and that would mean there would never be anytime to spend with his friends, and his close friend Edd aswell. But for now, Tord did not want to worry his friend with all that and decided to keep the thought to himself, and enjoy a sweet lasting bonding moment with his secret beloved,, maybe for the last time.

For two hours more, they chatted and laughed about other things positive, until finally it was getting late, and Edd felt himself growing tired again. Tord on the other hand knew he couldn't sleep knowing what was going on out there. So instead, he waited for his green hooded friend to fall asleep. Both were snuggled up close under the covers. Tord stroked Edd's hair until he sighed tiredly, and finally fell asleep, whilst clinging onto Tord. This made the grunge friend smile and as to make sure his friend was fully asleep, Tord planted a small kiss onto his friends head. This made Edd smile in his sleep.

About another hour later, Tord quietly slipped out of bed. He covered Edd up with his blankets, making sure he was comfortable during slumber. Then, getting himself ready, Tord tiptoed and climbed over the bedroom window, and before leaving, he looked back at Edd with a sad look, but despite the feeling, he smiled and quietly spoke out.

"See you later, Edd."
