not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

what're your favourite nagron fics? (ps your tags make me so happy)

omg yay i’m so glad, haha! and this is very fortuitous because I was literally compiling a list for my own personal benefit just a few days ago. 

Please heed the warnings for all the fics. I feel like any seasoned nagron fan has probably already read these but if you haven’t yet, I would 10/10 would recommend all of them, in no order, here are some of my personal favs.:

~*~Canon Era~*~

But Spirits From the Other Side of Styx by WionaSomething moves inside Nasir, in very centre of his being. It angers him and he would squash it beneath heel if only he could. For it smells too much like fear, tastes too much like obedience, feels too much like defeated acceptance. Reminds too much of past wasted away under fair Roman name.

(This is a lovely little fic. One of my favorite character studies of Nasir and gosh they way he looks at Agron is so romantic andsdskadhsldlkjdksa. I feel like this fic does a great job of illustrating just how important Agron is to Nasir.)

Like the Sound of the Sun by wordslinging Agron doesn’t want to fuck this boy for Roman amusement. He wants to sit and look into those eyes and speak with him, ask his name and how long he’s been in the house of Batiatus and if he likes what he sees when he looks at Agron.

(Nasir at the Ludus!AU… it’s just really well done. One of my favorite nagron fics of all time.)

Be Close Behind by theswearingkindWhat do we say to the God of Death?

(Canon!AU (OR IS IT?) meets Mythology!AU. I had been waiting for someone to write a mythology influenced fic and this is really lovely. This might make you cry a bit but it’s worth it.)

Like Eagles by venomedveinsNasir is frustrated after hearing the other rebels talking about how he is a kept boy. He takes it out on Agron. Thankfully, Agron fixes everything with soft kisses and whispers of love.

(this is another fic that i was really looking forward to aka Agron dealing with Nasir’s pridefulness lol. Agron’s got that shit on lock tho. And uhugfguh the sexxxxx sceneeee. )

At the Crossroads by winterwonderlandAfter Spartacus and Crixus have finally decided to part ways for good, Agron is faced with a decision of his own.

Missing scenes from episode 7 (WotD) onwards. Canon compliant. Agron-centric.

(I’m kinda fussy about fics that do missing scenes between 309 and 310 bc I hate it in fic when Nasir tries to scold/lecture Agron for leaving with Crixus bc I just feel like that is a super out of character thing for Nasir to do. This fic doesn’t do that and the writer also does a really good job of exploring Agron’s mindset during this time, imo)

~*~ Modern AUs ~*~

Fire Starter Series by venomedveins (WIP)Nasir is a tattoo artist, struggling to get over an abusive relationship. Agron is a fire fighter, struggling to make Nasir realize how much he loves him.

(guhughfdugh this fic slays me. Agron is just so sexy o___O and tatted up Nasir jfc help. The smut is amaze, its pretty kinky tho so heed the warnings if you are easily offendable. I’m pleased as fuck someone went there to explore the D/s dynamic of nagron.)

When It Helps, When It Hurts by cocksandcapua (WIP)Agron is happily married to Saxa and together they have a son. His job is great and he is living the dream, until one life-changing night where he attends his friend’s bachelor party. Agron’s world is turned upside down when he meets the bride’s best friend, Nasir. Because Agron is straight. Right?

(Oh man, closeted!/in denial!Agron like really hurts my feelings but this fic is so well done fdfjhdsfsdkf.)

So we both get stuck (and we both get free) by queerly_it_isHis first day at his new school, and Nasir’s free from the paperwork-filled nightmare of the front office for all of ten minutes when he gets himself into a fight. 

(highschool AU so beware for underage but dear GOD the smut in this fic is unreal and so intense and also fluffy still??)

Contropposto by reginaldsThey all go for coffee after the class, and Agron feels off balance the entire time, still a little self-conscious from the whole taking his clothes off to be scrutinized by strangers thing, and the way Castus sits beside Nasir and name drops Rousseau and Dubuffet with ease. They lose Agron the second they start talking about art, but he stays because Nasir talks with his hands when he’s passionate about something, and he keeps looking at Agron like if he smiles enough at Agron he’ll understand the argument Nasir is making about colour theory. (He doesn’t, but he smiles back, every time.)

The last time Agron models for the class he may or may not hit the gym the day before, and avoid carbs before heading to the art studio.

“This is a disturbing new development in your infatuation with this guy,” Duro says, when Agron declines a slice of pepperoni pizza. “I may need to meet him.”

Agron just throws a slice of cantaloupe at his brother’s face and heads to the bus stop to catch the bus to campus.

(This is a hipster college nagron au and it’s glorious. Artist!Nasir wearing scarves and being cute and blushing bc Agron’s dimples are too much and Agron as a nude model lord help me. Also Spartacus is a huge feminist in this and that makes me super happy.)

Got There Burdens Under My Wing (But I’m Still Free) by Aurora Cee (SC182)This was their life and the sacrifices that they made to preserve it.

War of The Damned/ Sons of Anarchy/Biker fusion AU

Vikings + brain cells

Ragnar: Has a brain cell he occasionally shares with Rollo, though sometimes he gets all of it and Rollo gets none

Lagertha: A whole two brain cells!! good for her

Rollo: Either half of the one he shares with Ragnar or zero, depends on what kind of day he's having (sometimes Ragnar is in a sharing mood but Rollo just! throws the whole braincell out of his head anyway and then bam, neither of them have one)

Floki: One pretty decently sized brain cell, but it's, like, constantly snorting cocaine

Athelstan: A solid two when he's with the others bc they've got so little and he's gotta be the voice of reason, but when he's by himself it drops to somewhere between 0.5 and one - they seem to know what they're doing though

Aslaug: Honestly a good handful but they're tiny and just kind of rattle around in there

Helga: About one and a half, sometimes she shares some fraction of it with Floki but ends up losing all of it and running around with none

Siggy: Similar to Helga, she's got a whole one but sometimes bits of it fall off and it takes a while for her to get them all intact again

Ecbert: Shroedinger's braincell. Either the most of all of them or absolutely none, hard to tell

Kwenthrith: Probably at least half but it gets horny and power hungry and will temporarily cease to function

So... I never post anything anymore... I'm sorry. Half of it is because I have hit the biggest writer's block known to mankind. The other part is because of this kid.
