Sonic 06: Lilithmon

Chapter 3: The Brink of the Disastrous Future

200 years later in the future, a snow-white hedgehog was flying around the ruined buildings with flames and a sea of lava. A thick layer of grey smoke darkened the clouds as a massive volcano erupted. It looked like a huge black pillar, reaching for the skies. The sound of rumbling and flashing of lightning filled the air, and small bits of debris were blown all over the place. Everything seemed to be burning as a massive mushroom cloud surrounded the entire city, but it wasn’t visible anymore.

His fur was gray and the collar of fur around his neck was white. He wears gold-banded gloves, and his hands have blue, glowing lines across the wrists, which help him direct his psychokinetic powers when he flies, attacks, or defends. Those boots have aqua blue toes, black sides, and white in the middle. The tongues are red, with gold ankle bands that sport blue, glowing lines to concentrate his psychokinesis. Additionally, he has yellow eyes. His quills were shaped like a star and two long quills in the back of his head.

This world was devastated before I was born. A harsh, bleak place, where we live in eternal darkness. Life is a struggle, and people live without hope. How did this happen? No one will answer me directly. But they always point… to the flame.

A tornado of flame swirled up before the ivory hedgehog, he used his psychokinesis power to clear the flame away. The flames burned down immediately after he made his way through the destruction, but the charred earth was left behind.

These flames. They burn away at my world destroying everything in their path. They come from an eternal life form we cannot truly defeat. The Flame of Disaster is known as Iblis.

"Silver!" a girl's voice rang out in the distance. Silver's furred ears twitched as his golden yellow eyes focused on the lavender cat. An elegant golden collar hung from her neck, a violet tailcoat trimmed with roses, and white leggings. She also wore white gloves and high-heeled rose ankle boots, both featuring white fluffy cuffs on them. A thick white stripe runs down each front of her boots, followed by gray soles and gray heels. A red hair tie adorned four plumes of violet hair pulled up in a high ponytail. Her forehead was also adorned with an oval red gem.

"Blaze! What's wrong?" he asked, noticing the distress on her face.

"He's appeared again!" she pointed to the horizon. A column of fire, almost too bright to look at, was headed right towards us. Silver scowled upon hearing Blaze's words as he raced forward, dodging any stray fires on his way to get ahead of the approaching pillar of fire. As he got closer he could feel its heat as it grew even hotter.

Silver and Blaze arrived in Crisis City shortly after to confront Iblis, the sea of lava began to emerge from the depths of the crater. The firey golem demon was ready to fight, while Silver and Blaze were ready to attack.

"Come on, you monster!" yelled Silver.

Ilbis roared in response before firing a stream of fire in Blaze's direction. "Fireballs!" she exclaimed, using her pyrokinesis to summon a wave of fire to intercept the incoming fireballs. As Blaze deflected the projectiles she noticed Silver staring intently at the ground below him, he quickly glanced upward in time to see Iblis's giant claws shoot straight toward him. He jumped upwards just in time, narrowly avoiding getting crushed into a pulp by the beast's massive claw.

"Silver!" Blaze shouted. "The ground is going to collapse. Iblis is coming up behind you!" She summoned more fire to blast her flaming fists at Iblis. The golem was quick though. Within seconds, the ground cracked open under Iblis's feet. Blaze cried out, ducking to avoid getting hit.

"Don't worry, Blaze," Silver said, "I'm gonna protect you!" He shot a psychokinetic blast at Iblis, who quickly dodged out of the way. Iblis then let out a roar and charged straight at Silver, his fist ablaze with deadly flames. Silver took evasive maneuvers until Blaze could reach him. She wrapped her arms around his chest and teleported herself away to safety. Once she landed Blaze released Silver from her grip and the hedgehog quickly shot a blast of psychic energy at Iblis to prevent him from pursuing them.

The firey monster roared painfully at the sight of Silver shooting his blast of psychic energy at him. His eyes glowed brighter, almost blinding. Before Silver could do anything, he fired another beam of fire. Silver blocked the fire, and it bounced off of him harmlessly. He didn't have time to dodge it. He felt his body tense as the next attack was about to be launched. He breathed a flamethrower at SIlver, but he quickly dodged out of the way. Just as Iblis turned the corner and saw Silver dodging another attack, Silver flew backward and blasted him with an explosive burst of psychokinesis. The force sent the giant golem careening backward. The firey monster went back to the molten lava beneath it, leaving a massive hole in the ground and covering it with a thin sheet of lava that formed a barrier between it and the outside world.

"Looks like we stopped it for now," said Blaze, crossing her arms over her chest.

"But it'll just rise up from its ashes again," Silver hit the brick wall in frustration. "What's the point of all this?! It'll never end!"

"Calm down, SIlver," Blaze comforted him as he calmed down. Silver sighed in disappointment. "Then tell me what we should do. How can we completely destroy Iblis?" asked Silver, as Blaze closed her eyes unsure of what to think. Suddenly a dark voice from the top of the ruined building.

"…By knowing the truth, of course." Silver's ears twitched in surprise as Blaze opened her eyes in confusion and turned their heads to where the voice came from. There was a dark grey and green hedgehog who looked exactly like Shadow, but he had no mouth. His eyes were green with a slit pupils.

"Just as a flower comes from a seed, or a chicken comes from an egg, everything has an origin. You need to find the being originally responsible for this catastrophe," he said as he raised his arms in the sky.

"Is that really the answer to our problem?" Silver asked as he pointed to him. "Tell me, do you know who it is?"

The dark hedgehog looked at Silver with a sinister look in his eyes. "No…" he stated as he walked past Silver. He reached out a hand, and Silver noticed that his fingers glowed pinkish red, "but there is someone else who does." Silver and Blaze glanced at each other in confusion.

"Who are you?" asked Silver.

"My name is Mephiles. If you know the answer, I come to help you," answered the dark hedgehog, walking away.

Silver shook his head and glanced at Blaze. "We'll follow him."

At the Database

"To fix the present timeline, you need to change the past," said Mephiles.

Silver was shocked when he heard those words and he stared up at the mysterious dark hedgehog. "You mean, we need to rewrite the past…?" he asked.

Mephiles nodded. Silver thought for a moment as he pondered whether or not they would listen to Mephiles. "But that's impossible!" said Silver.

"With my help, you can, because I have the power to travel time!" said Mephiles.

"No way!" Silver was surprised at his answer. Was he able to use travel time to change the future where it needed to be?

"If you don't accept my offer, you might never get another chance to fix your future and I won't be able to help you anymore," replied Mephiles.

"Why should we trust you?" Silver questioned Mephiles, narrowing his eyes at him.

"In order to change the past, you must eliminate the individual who has awakened Iblis. The Iblis Trigger," said Mephiles.

Silver and Blaze glanced at each other, both wanting to believe Mephiles's words, then looked back at him.

"If I eliminate that guy, will our world be saved?" asked Silver.

Mephiles nodded, "Yes. The Day of Disaster… Here are my records of this event. This was when Iblis was freed and his flames were released into the world," Mephiles said as he turned on the computer, Silver and Blaze the images of Tirathana.

"And you have this person to blame," Mephiles took out a purple Choas Emerald and showed it to Silver, who examined it curiously. A vision of a blue hedgehog and flames appeared within the crystal.

"That's him… that's who the Iblis Trigger is meant to kill…" Silver mumbled, looking thoughtful. Blaze gazed intently at Silver. She knew something was wrong.

Mephiles continued, I'll send us back in time to the point when the Iblis Trigger was alive."

He created a dark sphere with his hands, placed it on Silver and Blaze, and three of them completely vanished.

Back in the Present of Tirathana

It was a beautiful day outside. The blue skies were full of clouds as the sun gently shined down. The wind rustled through the trees, causing some leaves to fall onto the ground in front of the house. A gentle breeze blew by, carrying the aroma of fresh flowers. The birds were chirping happily. All was normal, peaceful, perfect… suddenly a portal appeared above them. Silver jumped out of the portal alone as it closed behind him. He was looking around the surface, this place was peaceful, tranquil, and untouched.

'Where am I?' thought Silver. "Blaze?" he called out as he looked around. Blaze was nowhere in sight. "Blaze!" he called out again, but there was no response. Where could she possibly have gone?

Silver was standing there in the beautiful place, not sure of how he got there, but he was determined to find his partner and get them home safely. He walked through the meadow filled with colorful flowers and the flowing river running along the side of the meadow. As Silver walked, he leaned down scooping his hands up water with each step to drink, then drank as much as he could. The water was cold and pure, refreshing the taste buds on his tongue.

"Ah, the water here tastes great." Silver sighed blissfully as he gulped down more water. "There was no water back in my future…" he grumbled quietly to himself.

After finishing drinking his fill, he stood up as he was ready to find Iblis once and for all. "No time to lose," said Silver, beginning to walk. "I must fight for the future."

Sonic 06: Lilithmon

Chapter 2: Under Lilithmon's Spell

At Tirathana, a dark castle they have housed the most powerful sorcerers of all: The Seven Great Demon Lords. They were known as the Seven Deadly Sins and they controlled many kingdoms.

The leader was named Lucemon, he was the Demon Lord of Pride. He was a tall, muscular, and handsome man. He had blue eyes and blond hair. He wore a white bodysuit and black overcoat. He had 10 wings on his back, 2 on his head, and 2 on his neck. The left side of his wings was demonic and his right side was angelic wings which were dyed black. He had a purple tattoo left side of his face and he wore red lipstick.

The second demon was named Beelzemon, the Demon Lord of Gluttony. He was tall and slim, he wore a violet bird-like mask on top half of his face, blond hair spiked out in the back and he had three green eyes. He also wore a black leather jacket with a black muscle shirt and black pants. He wore a leather jacket over a shirt and he wore a red scarf around his bicep. He wore steel-toed boots with three spikes jutting out of his steel-toed boots, and he had holsters on his left knee that wielded a Berenjena.

The third demon was named Barbamon, the Demon Lord of Greed. His appearance of a long-bearded old man. He wore a purple robe with a red triangle pattern and with gold and ruby necklace, he wore a gold mask on the top half of his face and he had a pair of golden rings on both of his fingers. He wore an olive green trouser and red loafers. He carried his favorite wand with a skull-shaped staff.

A red crocodile demon with a long snout and a split two tails named Leviamon, the Demon Lord of Envy.

A beautiful female demon that looked like a geisha was named Lilithmon, the Demon Lord of Lust. She had purple lipstick and purple eyeshadows. She wore a purple dress with gold trimming, and she had a black choker around her neck. She had four pairs of wings, two small wings on her upper back and two large wings on her lower back. She had a bat mark on her forehead. She had a golden claw on her right hand.

The sixth hybrid bear and goat demon was named Belphmon, the Demon Lord of Sloth. He had horns on his head and he had chain-wrapped his claws and his right leg. He was on his Rage Mode.

And lastly, the ferocious demon named Deamon, the Demon Lord of Wrath. He was covered with maroon fur on his chest and legs, leaving his chest, legs, and arms bare of purple skin. He had purple demonic wings, had black mane down to his back, and horns on his head. His left arm was longer than his right arm. And he had an orange pentagram tattoo on his left shoulder.

Lucemon was sitting in his throne room surrounded by his seven demons sitting down there at the table with him. They had a meeting tonight.

“We are here to discuss something," said Lucemon. He was looking directly at them."

“Yes, we are. What is it you want to discuss?" Beelzemon asked, his tone sounding bored.

“Do you remember Iblis was sealed away?” asked Lucemon with a deep sigh.

“Of course,” said Barbamon, “we saw your seal when we arrived at Tirathana” he added with a slight chuckle.

“He was sealed in a red crystal,” said Lucemon, “so he won't be able to come back again” he explained.

“I think that's a good thing,” said Barbamon nodding his head. "He'll stay there forever!" he chuckled.

The other demons laughed lightly in return. “So what does this have to do with us?" asked Beelzemon.

“As you may know, Iblis was no longer a threat to us. And now that he has disappeared, we should start working together to get rid of any threats from that evil being," said Lucemon.

“Hmph! The flame demon is more powerful than me, I should be the Flame of Destruction,” said Deamon, his voice low and threatening.

“But he's not the most dangerous being on Earth," stated Leviamon. “You are the Choas of Hellfire and you control the flame. That means he can't hurt you.”

Deamon growled softly in response. “He has no control over me," he said. "I'm the strongest of all demons. So if I choose to kill him it's my choice." He stared at his friends. "And none of you shall interfere!" he warned them, raising his voice slightly. The others did not reply. They were silent for some time.

“That's true,” Lucemon agreed. "but I am not asking for just us to fight against him. You see, he was sealed in the red crystal by the man named Duke 10 years ago,” he explained. “The man was killed during the battle, he sacrificed himself to stop him.”

“So this Duke guy is dead?” asked Beelzemon, surprised. “How did he die?”

“He died because he had to fight against him for eternity,” replied Lilithmon. “he used his soul as bait to lure him out of hell.”

“It sounds like he was weak,” said Leviamon thoughtfully, looking at Lucemon.

Lucemon lifted his head one of them was missing at the meeting. “Wait, where’s Belphemon?” asked Lucemon.

“I bet he’s sleeping or something,” answered Beelzemon.

“Ah, I knew he has the sin of Sloth,” muttered Lucifer. “Deamon, could you please get Belphmon up and bring him here so I can talk to him?" he asked.

"Ugh, fine," Deamon got up and made his way out the door, muttering about Belphemon being lazy and annoying. As he walked to his room, he banged on the door with his fist.

“Belphemon! Come out already!" he yelled. There was silence. "What the hell? Is he asleep in there or something?!" he wondered, irritated. After a few minutes more banging on the door, "Belphemon, wake up already! It's time for you to meet our boss!"

"No! Go away!" came the grumpy reply from inside the room. Deamon sighed heavily, he would never understand why he hated his job so much. He busted the door open with his foot to find Belphemon curled up on his bed asleep and completely ignoring him.

"Hey, wake up!" Deamon yelled. "Come on! We have a meeting!" Still nothing. "I swear if this is another one of your dumb jokes…" he hit his head hard causing Belphemon to jump off his bed and fall flat on the floor.

"Ow!" he groaned. "What did you do that for?" he said rubbing his temple.

"Idiot, have you forgotten your meeting?" said Deamon glaring at him angrily.

"Oh yeah…" mumbled Belphemon, still rubbing his head. "Sorry, I forgot."

"Then get your ass up before I drag you myself, dumbass!" said Deamon, walking out of his room.

"Alright, alright," mumbled Belphemon. He got up and stretched his arms while yawning loudly.

After that, Belphemon and Deamon returned to their meeting room where they found that the rest of their group had already been there waiting for them.

“Morning, Belphemon,” greeted Beelzemon politely, waving his hand in greeting. "How's your sleeping beauty?" he asked, sarcastically.

“Shut up," answered Belphemon, sitting next to him on his chair.

"Well, it's about time you showed up," said Leviamon. "Our leader wants to start our meeting," he explained.

"Sorry about that. What'd I miss?" asked Belphemon.

"He talked about how he sealed Iblis inside the red crystal," said Barbamon, "and how the world needs a strong demon like him to protect us from those evil demons who live in Tirathana."

"So what else did he tell you?" asked Belphemon.

"Well, I said Iblis was the Flame of Destruction, which you already know since Iblis was a part of Solaris," Lucemon said. "Then he mentioned that Duke had sealed him, so he didn't have to terrorize this planet anymore."

"Is that so?" said Belphemon.

"And Belphemon? You'd better not miss this meeting," Lucemon said. "If you don't show up, you know what will happen to you. Do you want your face to become one of those ugly bruises that decorate the walls? If I ever catch you slacking off on work again, you will be dissipated!" he threatened.

"Okay, okay! I won't do that again!" answered Belphemon, getting scared by the anger of his master.

"Good," said Lucemon smiling slightly. Then he took his cup of coffee and drank from it.

A giant goat demon came to the meeting room, Mephismon, was their servant demon who was a very loyal follower of Lucemon. "My lord, we have an intruder here at this castle," he said as soon as he entered.

"An intruder?" Lucemon questioned.

"Yes, there is an airship outside, and it seems to be coming closer every second," answered Mephismon.

Lucemon placed his hand to his chin, contemplating. "Hmm…." he said, tapping his fingers against the table. "Mirrormon!" he called out, making the mirror Digimon summon here.

"You called?" asked Mirrormon.

"Show us the airship that approaching our castle," said Lucemon.

Mirrormon showed the reflection of the airship and it started moving toward the castle as soon as the image appeared.

"Who is piloting the airship?" asked Beelzemon.

"I see a human and two robots," responded Mirrormon.

"Interesting… ” murmured Lucemon, slowly stroking his chin. "They look very interesting. Have they arrived yet?”

"Soon, my lord," replied Mirrormon.

"I can't wait to pummel them into the ground once they arrive here!" declared Deamon, cracking his knuckles.

"No," she said firmly. "I'll handle it personally. He knows that he won't stand a chance against my charm," said Lilithmon as she got up from her seat and walked towards the exit. As the airship arrived, they departed from their ship. The plump man in his 40s with a bald head and mustache wore a red jacket black pants, and glasses. He had two robots, red was Orbot, and yellow was Cubot.

"So, this is Tirathana. A nice little place, isn’t it?" Eggman asked.

"Not really a nice place. I mean, why are we here, anyway?" asked Cubot.

"Because we're here to conquer it!” declared Eggman triumphantly. "We'll rule the Earth together! Just like old times, right Orbot?"

Orbot nodded. "Absolutely sir. This will be glorious!"

"And we need someone how to break the seal on the red crystal that demon called Iblis sealed in," said Eggman.

"Iblis?" asked Cubot, puzzled.

“Oh yes, that one!” said Eggman excitedly.

"I don't remember reading about such a creature," Cubot said, sounding doubtful.

"Yeah, neither did I, to be honest," Orbot said. "But he must be around here somewhere."

"Let's go inside the castle," said Eggman.

Suddenly, the door opened revealing a beautiful demoness along with her minions. She was dressed in a long purple gown and had long black hair tied up in a bun with a hairpin, like a Geisha hairstyle.

"Why, hello, lovely lady," said Eggman, smirking flirtatiously at her. “Your name is…?"

"Lilithmon," she said in a sultry tone.

Eggman smiled widely, "What a beautiful name."

She chuckled lightly. "Well, you seem quite handsome yourself." She then stared straight at him, giving him a sensual look that made him blush and smile at her playfully. "May I ask why you are here, handsome?"

��I love women like that!’ thought Eggman. "I am here to conquer this city," he said, "so let me in immediately so we may begin."

"Oh, you want to conquer the city? Well, it will take a while, but you shall have it all in due time. Now… why don't you come over and join us?" she suggested, holding out her hand toward him seductively. Eggman was about to follow Lilithmon's orders when suddenly she put the spell on him.

"Darkness Love!" she blew a kiss into a heart-shaped aura that enveloped him. Instantly, Eggman was being hypnotized into falling in love with her. His eyes glowed purple as Lilithmon laughed lightly. "See? Now you'll become my slave~"

"What do you do to our boss?!" demanded Orbot.

"Well, I just give him whatever he wants~" answered Lilithmon. "Don't you think that's fun?" Her eyes lit up with mischief.

"Eggbots, attack!" ordered Orbot. A huge swarm of robots attacked the Digimon demons and started firing them, but they dodged easily.

"Hang on, boss! We're coming to save you!" cried Orbot.

"It's too late for that," Lilithmon said chuckling, watching everything in amusement. "Phantom Pain!" she shouted as she created an incantation spell and traced her finger into a circular motion, blew a kiss, and sent out a massive stream of purple energy, causing Eggbots to explode into tiny shards of light.

Orbot and Cubot were shocked by what they saw but they were too late to stop Lilithmon. No one could save him now. In no time, Eggman was trapped under Lilithmon's spell. As the whole thing unfolded, Cubot and Orbot stood there speechless, looking at the scene unfold before them in disbelief. And Deamon came out of the castle, enjoying the view with an amused expression on his face.

"Now this is the entertainment I enjoyed," said Deamon amusedly. "That's the most satisfying sight I've seen in a long time."

He saw two little robots standing there in fear, trembling in fear. They were unable to move or speak and their faces were filled with tears.

"How pathetic," said Deamon laughing, walking toward them. "To think I'd ever get worried about these useless creatures, when there is much more than enough power to destroy them." he turned to Lilithmon. "Shall I destroy them?" he asked.

Lilithmon scoffed, "Do what you want."

He turned to them with his evil grin on his, the two robots turned their gaze at him, still trembling as they held their arms out, begging for mercy. "Please…" whispered Cubot to Deamon.

"You know, I've always wanted to kill something with my own hands. But I guess you two are perfect for the job," he said, he lifted his giant claw readying to destroy them.

“NO! DON'T!” screamed Orbot.

“SLASH NAIL!” yelled Deamon as he slashed the robots with his giant claw, the metals, scrapes, and bolts flew everywhere leaving a small crater of metal pieces on the ground. When the dust cleared, both the machines were nowhere to be seen.

Deamon dusted his hands off, satisfied with himself. "Now… that’ll take care ‘em,” said Deamon.

Lilithmon placed her hands on her hips and smirked, “I knew you would be able to do it. That should teach those two fools to be insolent."

“And what do you do with him?” asked Deamon.

“He’s under my control, and he will obey my every order,” Lilithmon replied, smiling evilly. “But I have a better plan. Devimon!” she called out.

A black mist summoned Devimon, who bowed down respectfully in front of her.

“You called, my lady?” asked Devimon.

“I need you take him to brothel. Make sure he gets laid tonight,” Lilithmon commanded.

“Right away, my lady,” said Devimon, as he bowed, he took Eggman and he disappeared into a thin air.

Deamon crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Really, Lilithmon? A brothel?” he was unimpressed.

“Well, I didn’t expect the guy to be so easy to tame,” she shrugged.

“Easy?! You think you’re gonna let that fat man invite to the brothel? He’s an absolute psychopath,” protested Deamon.

“So?” asked Lilithmon. “He will do anything I want. If I tell him not to kill, I might even get him to do that. I'm in complete control of him."

"You're nuts. I hope what you are doing…” said Deamon, walking back to the castle.

"Whatever you say, dear brother,” Lilithmon giggled mischievously.

Sonic 06: Lilithmon

Author's note: Princess Elise has NOT appeared in this story. So instead I put my favorite Digimon character Lilithmon. She's a powerful Demon Lord of Lust. Hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 1: Eggman Escapes From Prison

One night, in a dark prison cell, the prisoners were sleeping peacefully, as could be expected for a bunch of hardened criminals. The guard on duty was walking through the corridors outside their cells, checking that everything was secure and quiet. He made sure the prisoners wouldn’t try to escape, he also checked that the cameras weren’t working and the sound wasn’t going out. Then, he returned to his post inside the cells.

Inside the prison cell, Eggman couldn't sleep. He had been awake all night long. He thought about what would happen when he escaped and what to do if he didn’t. He couldn't think about anything else, so after tossing and turning in bed for two hours, he had to figure out how to escape from this hellhole before morning came. He decided to use a distraction that would get him out of this hell hole without a fuss. After some thinking, Eggman finally came up with a plan to save himself. First, Eggman decided to create a big mess in this cell and draw attention away from him while he tried to break out.

Second, he wished Orbot and Cubot were to arrive at his rescue mission, but even then he knew they wouldn't be able to reach him. It was just too risky, there was no way he would risk sending them into the danger zone. He hoped it wouldn't come to this, that he could get out of here himself. But Eggman knew better than anyone else what was going to happen. No matter what happened, he would get an act of revenge on the blue hedgehog.

Outside the prison, the red robot and yellow robot were lying low, hidden inside one of the many buildings that lined the streets. They had to recuse their boss Eggman to avoid getting caught by him. This had turned out to be quite tricky since they had to make certain that everyone was busy enough looking around for Eggman, which was not easy because no one seemed to be paying them any mind. So they had found a way to get Eggman out of prison as soon as possible.

"Okay, we need to stick to the plan," Orbot said to Cubot. "we have to get Eggman out of prison as quickly as possible."

"But how? We can't go inside," Cubot shrugged. "If the guards or anyone sees us entering the cell, they'll probably kill us right away!"

Orbot shook his head, "They won't. We have Eggbots guarding every corner of the cell. If the guards notice us entering, they're gonna stop us, but don't worry, Eggman will know we're coming for him.

Cubot sighed, "I hope you're right, Orbot."

"Of course, I'm right, Cubot! We'll get Eggman out of prison no problem!" said Orbot.

Orbot commanded the Eggbots to go ahead and go to the prison building where Eggman was kept in custody. They got ready to enter the building. When the Eggbots entered the building, they scanned everything inside for Eggman's signature, to make sure it was him. They saw the Eggbots that Eggman had assigned to guard the prison block in the area where Eggman had been confined.

As soon as he saw the Eggbots, Eggman stood up from the bed, he was surprised that those Eggbots were there for him, but happy nonetheless. He smiled evilly, "Well, looks like my Eggbots are here. So Cubot and Orbot are coming here to my rescue…"

Eggbot walked to Eggman's cell and he was pleased to see that his Eggbots came to his rescue. He smirked, "It seems like you've come for me, huh? I need you to knock out the guard and get the key so we can get outta here."

The Eggbots nodded silently. The Eggbot snuck through the hallways and searched for the guard. As soon as the Eggbot reached the room where the guard was roaming around with a flashlight, he knocked him unconscious and took the key to unlock the door. Eggbot came back with a key and unlocked the cell door.

Eggman walked past the Eggbots, who followed behind him. "Great, now let's get out of here before--" Suddenly the alarm went off, cutting short Eggman’s sentence. The prisoners woke up immediately, panicked about the sudden noise. Eggman cursed under his breath and shouted at the Eggbots, “Hurry, we have to move!"

All the Eggbots moved fast, making their way through the corridor and out of the building. The guards started running toward them, yelling for backup and trying to stop the fleeing Eggbots. They carried their weapons out of the facility and the battle raged throughout the entire prison compound, the Eggbots fighting against the guards and guards fighting against the Eggbots until both sides lost. The Eggbots had managed to fight the guards off and leave the prison compound without detection, but they had gotten stuck in the middle of nowhere. That was a good thing for them, however, Eggman took his gadget out of his bag and started to communicate with Orbot and Cubot to get the airship ready and fly them out of the prison zone.

Eggman looked at his wristwatch and frowned. “My airship should arrive any minute, so we have to hurry!” he told the Eggbots. The robots nodded and moved as fast as they could toward the airship. As they made their way to exit, the guard blocked the exit with a rifle aimed at them. They stopped moving and stared at the guard, who raised his weapon and pointed it directly at them, threatening to shoot them dead.

"Freeze! Don't move!" the guard warned.

Eggman gritted his teeth seething at the bad omen his luck was causing, he tried to keep calm. "Let us pass, soldier," Eggman said firmly, staring straight at the guard.

"No," the soldier replied firmly, "You must surrender your weapons now, or else I will fire and I won't hesitate!"

When the airship crashed into the prison building causing the wall to cave in, Eggman ran towards it. While the Eggbots stayed put and started firing the guards to distract the enemy soldiers, Eggman went inside the airship, using it to escape from the prison. Once inside, he grabbed the nearest controller and flew away, with Orbot and Cubot following closely after. He pressed every button on the controller, hoping that something would work. The airship began to depart from the ground in a hurry. Eggman had finally escaped from the prison, which was a win for him, but it didn’t change anything at all. Eggman had only one goal in mind, which was to find and get rid of Sonic the Hedgehog. And that meant, he was starting a new mission.

Eggman relaxed in his seat once again and started to concentrate on getting away safely from the city, he had a long way to go.

"It's great to see you back, boss," said Orbot.

"Yeah, you disappeared for a year," Cubot added.

"Yeah, I left for a while, but I guess it's time to return home," Eggman said. "This time, I'm not leaving."

"What?!" cried Orbot in disbelief.

"Why?" asked Cubot.

"I'm taking down the hedgehog that's ruining my life," he said. "He has ruined everything! First, my plan; then, my life, and now this stupid prison! I'm tired of it! He can rot in jail for all I care! He doesn't deserve to live.”

"So, what you're saying is that you want to kill him?” asked Cubot.

"Yes! That's exactly what I'm saying. I've waited long enough! And also, I'm going to make a new plan, a much simpler plan this time. This is the first time I've ever taken part in such an important mission, so I want to give myself a chance to do it properly. There's no reason why I shouldn't take part in this one," said Eggman.

"So… what's the plan?" asked Orbot.

"We're going to… Tirathana," Eggman declared proudly.

Chapter 29: Happy Ending

2 weeks later, Sonic was training at his home. He was running on the treadmill, his circulation was pumping, and he was sweating profusely. Sonic grinned as he went upstairs to get his suitcase and some clothes to wear. Shortly after, he heard a knock on the door. He opened the door, and Shadow entered.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

Shadow took out his green Chaos Emerald and shouted, "Chaos Control!"

Chapter 28: Welcome Home, Sonic.

He didn't remember much of what happened after waking up in that strange place, though some memories were left over.

"The doctor will be here for a moment and check how you're doing," announced the nurse as she exited the room. A minute later the door opened again, and Dr. Harrison came to the room carrying a clipboard.

"Hello, Sonic," said Dr. Harrison with a friendly smile.

"Hi, Dr. Harrison," greeted Sonic as he stood up from the bed. "It seems like my wounds are all healed!"

He flexed his arms to demonstrate. Dr. Harrison chuckled and nodded. "I'm glad you are feeling well. Now let's see if we can find out why your body has decided to give you these wounds..." She began scanning Sonic's body with his stethoscope. She took note of every injury. "Well, there doesn't seem to be any obvious cause for this. Your internal organs are fine, so there aren't any problems there, either..."Dr. Harrison moved around and continued her exam.

After completing her examination, she stepped back. "Your health looks great, Sonic. You're free to go," she smiled.

"Great, thanks Doc!" exclaimed Sonic excitedly.

"And I don't want you to rush back into action. Just make sure to rest, eat, and drink a lot," she said as she wrote down a note. "And here's the prescription for some painkillers. They're mild enough that you should feel no pain once you take them." She handed Sonic a note. Sonic thanked her again. As soon as she left, Sonic went to the first floor straight down to the pharmacy and got his prescription.

As he exited the hospital, Rouge was out there waiting for him. She was standing behind her

white Lamborghini while she was surfing her phone. She looked up and grinned at Sonic. "Hey there, blue boy!" she exclaimed cheerfully.

"Hiya, Rouge," said Sonic as he approached her car. After opening the passenger door and getting inside, he sat down next to her. Rogue started driving and departed from the hospital.

Rouge smiled softly. "I know you miss them. Let's go to your house," she suggested as she drove in the direction of Sonic's house. A few minutes later they arrived at the address. Rouge parked her car and they hopped off of it. As Sonic walked to his door, he unlocked the door and opened it, revealing a very crowded living room. They set up "Welcome Home" decorations along with streamers and balloons.

"SURPRISE!!" shouted several people at the same time. Sonic jumped in surprise. The group had surrounded him, congratulating him. "Mr. Sonic! We missed you!" cried Cream. He returned their hugs. Amy and Tails hugged him as well.

"We knew you'd come back! Mr. Sonic, we made cookies! We hope you like chocolate chip!" said Cream.

"Aw, you made those for me? Thank you, Cream!" he said, smiling brightly at the little girl. She smiled back.

Just then the green crocodile named Vector approached him with a big grin. "Hey, Sonic! I heard you've been in the hospital for 3 months and I thought it would be nice to celebrate by having fun together!" He pulled Sonic into a bear hug. Everyone cheered as Vector hugged Sonic tightly. Sonic laughed and returned the hug."Glad you're doing alright, Sonic!" he exclaimed.

"Thanks, man," said Sonic with a big smile. "I'm happy to be home again, just glad to see you guys again," he added. They released each other. Vector put his arm over Sonic's shoulders and the others followed his lead."Let's go to the kitchen, guys. We've got lots of snacks ready!" said Amy.

They had cake, pizza, chips, cookies, juices, and soda. As everyone ate, they talked. There were many things to talk about. They turned on the music to listen to Christina Aguilera singing the song "Genie in a Bottle" as they were dancing to the beat of the music.

Sonic walked to the hallway to see Knuckles leaning against the wall and watching the party. When he noticed Sonic walking toward him, he smiled. "Hey there, blue guy!" he exclaimed happily.

"Hey, Knux!" said Sonic as he greeted Knuckles. Knuckles walked toward him and hugged him. "How's everything going?" he asked. Knuckles shrugged. "Everything's fine. It's great to have you back, Sonic. I missed having you around," he answered. Sonic laughed. "You say that like I was never gone in the first place." Knuckles chuckled and shook his head. "Don't remind me. That was hard to live without you, blue pal."Knuckles nudged shoulder affectionately.

"You know, I'm glad Eggman's in prison. He won't hurt anyone ever again," commented Knuckles.

"Yeah, I guess he'll never touch another piece of property ever again," agreed Sonic. He glanced back to look at the kitchen where the party was happening, "Say, Knux, where's Shadow?" asked Sonic.

"He went outside on the patio," Knuckles pointed with his thumb in the direction. "He didn't feel like dancing or joining them. Maybe he wants to be alone." Knuckles' voice sounded concerned.

"Well, I'll go talk to him and see if he's okay," Sonic said, as he headed out the door. He walked through the garden until he saw Shadow sitting on one of the benches. "Shadow?" he called out softly. Shadow looked up at him and frowned. "Hey, Sonic," he said monotonously. Sonic took a seat beside him.

"What are you doing out here?" he asked.

Shadow shrugged, "Nothing. I just... wanted some fresh air," he replied calmly, trying not to show any emotion.

"You okay?" asked Sonic.

"Of course, I am," said Shadow.

"You seem awfully quiet. I mean besides your usual cold attitude," said Sonic with concern.

Shadow shook his head, "It's not that. It's just... I'm not the type of person to enjoy parties and such. Parties are loud, and people tend to talk too much. I prefer to stay quiet and watch from afar," explained Shadow quietly, still looking ahead and away from Sonic.

'Man, he's pretty anti-social,' thought Sonic.

"Well, it wouldn't be very polite to stay out here all night anyway. If you don't feel like mingling with the partygoers, then why don't you join us inside instead? It looks like everybody else is enjoying themselves, so you can do the same," suggested Sonic.

Shadow shrugged again, "I suppose so."

They paused for a moment, both lost in thought. Shadow seemed slightly more relaxed, and Sonic was staring at the ground, kicking his legs slightly back and forth. Then Shadow broke the silence.

"Do you mind if I ask you something?" he asked.

"Sure, what is it?" asked Sonic as he turned his attention to Shadow.

"Why are you being so kind to me? After everything I've done, I would have expected you to hate me and throw me in jail. But you haven't done anything of the sort," Shadow stated curiously.

"Maybe because I respect you. You may have tried to kill me before, but now you've changed. You've gotten rid of the villain persona you've always had. I think you're an amazing person, Shadow," said Sonic.

Shadow nodded, "Thank you. I appreciate your honesty." They fell silent after that. Neither spoke as Sonic kicked his feet back and forth a few more times. Soon Sonic broke the silence.

"Shadow?" he questioned.

"Hm?" responded Shadow.

"Um, you know I can't keep this a secret forever, right? And I need to know how you feel about me," stated Sonic.

"How do you feel about me?" asked Shadow. Sonic smiled. "I love having you around. It's nice being able to have someone who understands me," he said. Shadow raised an eyebrow at this, "Understands you? Like, what do you mean by that?" asked Shadow.

"Well, you're the only one I know who knows about my powers and all that stuff. I just feel comfortable when you're around me," said Sonic.

Shadow smirked and gave a small chuckle, "That is true. But then, you must have known that I'm an Ultimate Lifeform, too."

Sonic sighed, "Yes. But there's something different about you. Like, you're not just a criminal; you're a hero. A real hero. You saved me from Neo Metal Sonic, and you saved my friends. And you know what, you're a good person," said Sonic earnestly.

Shadow blushed slightly under Sonic's words. He hadn't expected such compliments from Sonic. "Thank you, Sonic. I appreciate your honesty," replied Shadow, still blushing.

Sonic giggled lightly at hearing the response and smiled widely, showing his canine teeth, and making Shadow blush even more.

"Sonic?" asked Shadow.

"Yeah, Shadz?" he responded.

He leaned forward and kissed Sonic's lips briefly. Sonic closed his eyes and held Shadow close to him. Their kiss started getting deeper and they soon became closer than ever. Shadow caressed his cheeks with his thumbs. Sonic grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him closer to deepen the kiss. Eventually, they stopped kissing and gazed lovingly into each other's eyes. Sonic smiled and rested his forehead against Shadow's. He looked at Shadow, still holding him by the sides of his neck. The two boys embraced each other once again. Suddenly, the two-tailed fox came outside of the patio.

"Hey, Sonic, we're leaving the party soon. So, maybe we should go in and finish celebrating," he told Sonic. Sonic nodded and reluctantly let Shadow go. Sonic stood up and brushed himself off, grinning. "Come on, let's go inside," he said. He offered Shadow his hand helped him get back to his feet and went inside.

After the party, they started cleaning up his house and they started to leave. They waved goodbye to each other. "Bye, Sonic. See you soon," said Amy and she went outside the house with the others. Sonic waved as well.

Shadow was about to leave, but he had to tell Sonic something. "Oh, um, before I go, I have this brochure in my mailbox," he handed this brochure to Sonic, he opened it, and read the contents.

"Shangri-La Hotel?" Sonic repeated, "Isn't that a resort hotel or something?"

"It is," affirmed Shadow, "but I think it would be fun to stay at a place like that. What do you think?"

Shadow asked Sonic with a little smile.

Sonic looked into Shadow's eyes and smiled back, "Yeah, that sounds great!"

"Great, I'll hit up the front desk and arrange transportation," said Shadow excitedly.

"Thanks, Shadz. I'll rest up for a couple of days until my pain is gone," said Sonic.

Shadow nodded and kissed Sonic's cheek, "See you later, Sonic."

"Later, Shadz," smiled Sonic. He watched as Shadow left the house, he closed the door and went up to the bathroom. He took a shower, brushed his teeth, and went to bed to sleep it off.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 27: Sonic meets Venusmon

That night at the hospital, Sonic was in the operating room with a gurney right beside him, while the surgeons were strapped to their separate beds. The machines surrounding them beeped and clicked all of the time and were hooked up to life support equipment attached to IVs and monitors. There was an oxygen mask over Sonic's face as well. The surgeons began to operate Sonic on his own body.

They began by slicing through Sonic's skin as gently and swiftly as possible. It didn't hurt much, but every time the scalpel went into him, a small piece of skin came off. Soon it was all gone and there was nothing left except a little bloody mess under the microscope. When they were done, they began to stitch up Sonic's wounds from where he had gotten injured. He still couldn't feel anything, so they just covered up most of the stitches and left some holes behind. When it was finished, one of the doctors wrapped him in gauze. They were ready to give him the injection. He would wake up and have a full recovery.

In the waiting room, Shadow, Amy, and Tails were sitting in the chairs except Knuckles was pacing back and forth. All four of them were trying not to think about what would happen next. Amy and Tails were sleeping soundly in their chairs while Knuckles paced back and forth. Shadow was sitting still in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest with his eyes closed. He got annoyed when Knuckles kept walking back and forth in front of him.

"Knux!" said Shadow irritably. "Would you stop pacing? I'm trying to sleep here."

"What? You can't sleep if you're worried! I don't know why you even care!" snapped Knuckles. "Why do you always have to be such a drama queen?" He turned around to go back to his seat when he noticed something out of place. Shadow had fallen asleep in the waiting room when Sonic was having surgery. He hoped his lover was okay. But he knew that his hopes were pointless. He should probably try to get some sleep himself. So, he sat down. Ten minutes later, the doctor came out of the operating room, Shadow and Knuckles looked at her to see what was happening. This doctor was a beautiful woman with brunette long hair that was tied up in a bun, and piercing green eyes with black rim eyeglasses. Her name was Dr. Linda Harrison.

"How is he, doctor?" Shadow asked her.

"He's fine. He's going to make a complete recovery after all this," she said. "Yet he's in a coma for several days. We'll keep monitoring him until we know that he's alright again. Until then we'll keep him sedated."

"Is he waking up soon?" asked Knuckles.

The doctor shook her head. "I'm afraid not. That's part of the problem now that he's asleep. But I'm sure he'll regain consciousness soon."

With that, Dr. Harrison went back inside Sonic's room, followed by a group of nurses who helped her prepare everything she needed to take care of the patient. Shadow turned his attention to Knuckles. "Well?" asked Shadow. "Did you manage to find a lead yet?" Knuckles nodded. Shadow sighed in relief.

Dr. Harrison came out of Sonic's room a few minutes later, carrying a clipboard. She took her glasses off, cleaned them on the end of her shirt, and put them back on. "You're all cleared to visit your friend now," she told them.

"Thank you," said Shadow. "Can we see him first?"

She nodded, "Of course, but try not to overwhelm him." Shadow thanked her again, then stood up. Before the others could get out of their chairs, Knuckles woke Amy and Tails up and told them to lead the way to Sonic's room. Once they entered the room, Sonic was sleeping in the hospital bed with a heartbeat monitor and an IV drip attached to his arm. There was an oxygen mask attached to Sonic's mask to help him breathe. He had white bandages on his right arm and his abdomen from surgery. He looked exhausted. He was asleep so deep that they could barely tell that he was awake or breathing.

"Wow...he looks awful," whispered Amy in shock.

Tails nodded, "Yeah..."

"I hope he recovers soon," said Knuckles.

Shadow sighed and walked up to the bed. He looked at his lover's face and saw that Sonic was still unconscious. Then, he sat down on the chair beside the bed and placed his hand on Sonic's forehead.

"Hey," he spoke softly. "I'm sorry about what happened to you. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you." Shadow let his tears flow freely. He hadn't cried since they buried him. He had forgotten how painful it was to cry when someone died. He lost his friend Maria when she was shot, and now he couldn't lose another one. After all these years, he finally realized how true that saying really was that time heals all wounds. Even death couldn't kill Shadow's love for Sonic. Even though he was unconscious, Sonic could hear Shadow talking to him."It's okay," he whispered to himself. "You're okay. No one will ever hurt you like that again."

"Well, it's 2:17 AM. Let's go home and let him rest," said Tails.

"I agree," said Amy.

Amy and Tails walked out of Sonic's room while Knuckles looked at Shadow, still holding his hand on Sonic's forehead.

"Are you coming or what?" asked Knuckles impatiently.

"Yeah, I'm coming," Shadow was to leave and looked at Sonic once more before leaving. He smiled sadly to himself. "Get well soon, Sonic," He kissed him on his forehead and left the room.

Outside the hospital, the air was chilly. In the distance, they could see the city lights twinkling on the horizon. The moon was full and the stars were twinkling brightly, giving them some light to see by. As they walked down to the parking lot, Tails yawned and rubbed his eyes. He took out his phone and contacted an Uber to take Tails and Amy home. Five minutes later, an Uber driver arrived, Tails and Amy waved goodbye to Knuckles and Shadow and they waved them back as they went inside and left.

"Do you want to catch an Uber or something?" asked Knuckles.

"No, I have my Chaos Emerald with me. It's faster than taking the bus or subway, especially when it's dark out," replied Shadow.

Knuckles nodded, "Okay, take care, Shadow."

"You, too." Shadow raised his green gem in the air. "Chaos Control!" he shouted as he vanished in a flash of green lightning.

Now that Knuckles was alone. "Well, I guess it's time for me to go," he said as he took a fly swatter out of nowhere and flew up through the city streets, heading to Angel Island and guarding his Master Emerald.

Three weeks later, it was around 10 AM, and a white female bat was at the cafe, drinking tea. She was dressed in a purple denim jacket, a black crop top, white jeans, and black boots. She wore sunglasses on top of her head. She was enjoying her tea and reading her book. Her phone rang, she checked the caller ID and it was Amy Rose.

"Hello?" she answered her phone.

"Hi, Rogue, it's me," said Amy.

"Oh, hi, Amy," Rouge responded. "What's up?"

"I was wondering if you take me to the hospital. I have to visit Sonic. He's in a coma right now," said Amy.

"Oh, sure, I'll meet you there in 15 minutes," said Rouge.

Rouge hung up the phone and got up from her seat. Just then, Rouge began to drive her white Lamborghini. When she saw Amy standing outside at the flower shop, she carried a bouquet of white daisies and lilies out. She approached the rose-pink hedgehog, she gently honked a horn when Amy saw Rouge in a white Lamborghini.

"Hello, Amy. How are you doing?" said Rouge.

"I'm good," said Amy.

"Hop in," Rouge smiled and opened the passenger side door. Amy climbed into the car, and they drove away together. About ten minutes later, they arrived at the hospital. They parked the car and made their way inside. Amy stopped in front of the receptionist's desk.

“Hi,” Amy greeted her.

“Hello, how can I help you?” the receptionist looked at her with kind blue eyes.

“We’re here to visit Sonic the Hedgehog,” said Amy.

“Ah, yes. He’s on the second floor to the right. The room number is 216,” the receptionist gave Amy directions. “Please make sure to inform us if you need anything.”

“Thanks,” said Amy. She took the flowers from Rouge and walked towards Room 216, which was right across from the elevators. She knocked on the door before opening it up. She peered in to see Sonic lying peacefully in bed, hooked up to his life support machines. He had a nasal cannula in his nostril

to help him breathe. His body was wrapped up in a blanket and his skin looked extremely pale. On the sides of his bed, there was a heart monitor, an IV pump, and a tube connected to his right arm. He also had an ECG machine on his chest that was beeping rhythmically.

“Sonic?” said Amy quietly. She stepped closer to him, careful not to disturb any of his things. She sat down on the edge of his bed and carefully took hold of his hand. Sonic didn’t stir. “I know that you can hear me."

Rouge placed her hand on Amy's shoulder reassuringly, "He'll be alright, hun. He should wake up soon."

Amy didn’t say anything; she just continued holding Sonic’s hand and caressing it with her thumb. She wished he could wake up from a coma already because she wanted nothing more than for Sonic to open his eyes and look at her. But she knew she wouldn’t be able to do that. Because of what happened to Sonic, even though Sonic did come out of the coma after Eggman attacked.

"I hope so," sighed Amy.

A few minutes later, Sonic had a strange dream. He found himself in a beautiful garden with colorful flowers. The sound of water flowing and the birds chirping filled in his ears. He was walking through the garden, looking up and admiring the bright colors of the trees and bushes that lined the ground. He could see the waterfall where the fish came from that sparkled and glimmered in the sun with a colorful rainbow. He stared at nature in awe.

'Am... am I in heaven?' thought Sonic.

He looked around at his surroundings and suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. Sonic whirled around, expecting to see someone who resembled him, but there was no one there except for him.

"Who's there?!" said Sonic, prepared to fight.

"Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart," a woman’s voice spoke from behind.

Suddenly, the woman appeared before him. It was a beautiful woman, like a goddess. She had beautiful long, flowing blonde hair braided updo hairstyle tied with a white ribbon. She wore a white long maxi dress that revealed her sexy legs and her large cleavage. She wore these two necklaces; one with silver, and one with an apple pendant. She wore silver armor arm guards and boot guards. The white ribbon tied her eyes like a blindfold. She had a dove on her right hand and she had a blue clam on her left hand.

"I didn't mean to scare you," said the beautiful woman.

"Wh-who are you?" he asked.

"My name is Venusmon," she said. "I'm one of Olympos XII and I rule over love," she bowed to him.

'Olympos XII?! That's another mythological being,' thought Sonic. 'She must be real!'

"Uh, you don't need to bow to me. My name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog," he pointed to himself with his thumb.

Venusmon giggled, "Well, Sonic, it's nice to meet you. Come, let's sit somewhere and talk."

"Sure," Sonic agreed as he followed her.

They both sat down under a large tree.

"So tell me," asked Venusmon, "Why are you here?"

"Umm... I... uh..." Sonic was nervous. "I was fighting with Eggman that he destroyed the city and tried to take over the world. I was trying to save my friends, but he summoned a new robot, Neo Metal Sonic, who looked exactly like me."

Venusmon nodded and listened intently to Sonic.

"Neo Metal Sonic was so powerful and I couldn't save friends. I wasn't strong enough to save them. He tried to end my life, but luckily Shadow came to save me and finished them off," said Sonic, remembering everything about Neo Metal Sonic that he knew.

"Hmmm..." murmured Venusmon. "I see," she said. "And so, you came here to protect your friends and your loved ones."

"Yes. Shadow saved me from Neo Metal Sonic," confirmed Sonic.

"How did he save you?" she asked.

"Shadow was flying above Neo Metal Sonic and threw an arrow that hit Neo Metal Sonic in the back of his head, killing him," explained Sonic. "I started to black out and ended up going to the hospital."

Venusmon hummed softly, "That explains a lot. You may want to get some rest, Sonic."

"Hey, Venusmon? Am I really dead?" asked Sonic.

She giggled, "No, sweetie, you're alive and well." She gently stroked Sonic's cheek, smiling at him.

"You're just dreaming in a coma," she whispered to him.

"Oh, God! Am I in a coma? How long have I been out?" asked Sonic.

"About 3 weeks, ” she replied, “but you'll be fine soon. Don't worry, Sonic."

"Okay," said Sonic, feeling relieved. "Thanks." He relaxed a bit, feeling comfortable with Venusmon.

"Hey, can I tell you something?" asked Sonic.

"Of course," Venusmon assured Sonic.

"Umm, I kinda love Shadow..." said Sonic.

She giggled, "Really?"

"Yeah!" answered Sonic enthusiastically. "I met him in the street city. This guy looks exactly like me. But he was different," he said. "The police thought I stole a gem from the bank and tried to frame me."

"Hmm... interesting," Venusmon mumbled.

"Yeah, I was falsely accused of stealing a gem. I had to flee from the police where I met Shadow. He was the one who stole Chaos Emerald," said Sonic.

"Was he a criminal?" asked Venusmon.

"He used to be, but not anymore. He's a hero now," Sonic replied.

"Wow, that's quite the story," Venusmon said.

"Can I tell you something more?" asked Sonic.

Venusmon nodded, "Mmm-hmm."

"Shadow and I are in love. We've been together ever since," said Sonic, blushing a little.

Venusmon smiled warmly, "That's great to hear. Have you told him yet?"

"Not yet, but I will eventually. After all, Shadow is my boyfriend," said Sonic.

"Then tell him how you feel when you talk to him next time," said Venusmon.

"Will do," Sonic replied.

In a flash of white, Sonic finally came out of a coma. He slowly opened his eyes, squinting slightly as he adjusted to the sudden brightness in his surroundings. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he noticed he was surrounded by people.

"Wh-where am I?" asked Sonic.

Amy gasped. "Sonic!" She went to hug him. "I'm so happy to see you awake!"

"Yeah, I'm okay, Amy," said Sonic.

"How do you feel?" asked Rouge.

"Rouge! It's so great to see you!" exclaimed Sonic. "I thought we were gonna lose each other forever."

Rouge laughed as she shook her head, "No way, bro. I would never abandon you."

Sonic looked around the room. "Where's Tails and the others?" he asked.

"They're busy. I'll have to call them with great news, and I'll tell the doctor that you're already awake," said Amy as she pressed the button. And she went outside and called her friends to tell them the great news.

"So I heard you fought with Eggman," said Rouge as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Yeah, I did," admitted Sonic as he scratched his head. "And I think I lost to Neo Metal Sonic."

"Damn, I wish I could have come here and save you," lamented Rouge.

"Don't worry about it. If it was up to me, I'd never let Eggman live," said Sonic.

"I know," Rouge chuckled.

Sonic lay down on his bed, closed his eyes, and let out a sigh. "You know, I still can't believe I'm alive!"

"I can understand why you're so surprised," said Rouge. "When Eggman attacked the city, I was shocked too. It took you months to recover after that battle. By the way, how much longer do you plan to stay here?" she asked.

"My belly was torn up pretty badly. But I'll be resting up for 3 months. Then I'll go home and take care of myself. And then when I'm recovered, I'm coming back to help take care of you guys. You know, make sure everyone is safe."

"I agree," said Rouge.

"By the way, what happened to Eggman?" asked Sonic.

"He's in prison. So he won't bother anyone anymore," Rouge answered.

"Good," he replied.

Dr. Harrison came into the room, wearing a white lab coat. She smiled at Sonic.

"Hello, Sonic," Dr. Harrison greeted.

"Hi," he smiled.

"I'm Dr. Linda Harrison," she introduced herself. "Today is your first day of recovery, so I'll just give you some basic information. Today, you'll be staying here for 3 months while your body heals. We can do a few tests later to see if you're ready to leave the hospital."

"That sounds good," said Sonic.

"Alright, I'm going to examine you," she said as she produced the stethoscope and began to check Sonic's breathing. After several minutes of checking Sonic's health, she put the stethoscope down around her neck.

"Everything seems normal," said Dr. Harrison, "you should be discharged within 3 months."

"Thank you, Dr. Harrison," said Sonic.

"No problem, Sonic," smiled Dr. Harrison as she turned to leave the room.

Amy came back carrying a bag of sugar cookies that she made that morning.

"Here, Sonic," said Amy as she handed the bag to him, "It's your favorite! They're sugar cookies. It's delicious, I promise!"

"Thanks," Sonic took one cookie and took a bite. "This is really good, Amy!"

Amy giggled, "Thanks. I'm glad you like it."

The sun began to set at 6 PM, Amy and Rouge said goodbye to Sonic and went to their homes while Sonic went back to sleep and met Venusmon again.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 26: Showdown! Neo Metal Sonic Appears!

"Besides, you ruined my plans to kill you, so I figured it was only fair that I return the favor by taking care of your precious friends," he gestured to Sonic's friends who were inside the glass bubble. 

Amy, Tails, and Knuckles were desperately trying to break free from the glass sphere, but no matter how hard they tried, it didn't budge at all. They were crying for help.

"Let them go, Eggman!!" yelled Sonic furiously as his emerald eyes glared daggers into Eggman's. His voice filled with rage and betrayal, which was strange since he wasn't even upset with Eggman anymore.

Eggman chuckled evilly, "You still don't understand, do you? This city belongs to me. I've been planning revenge ever since the moment I first laid eyes on you, Sonic the Hedgehog," he cackled maniacally. "It doesn't matter what kind of hero you are. All that matters is power. Power means power over the universe. And what you have given to me makes me very powerful." said Eggman.

"What're you gonna do them?!" demanded Sonic.

"Just watch," grinned Eggman, raised the remote in his hand, and pressed the button to electrify them, sending shocks through their bodies to paralyze them.

"YOU SON OF A BITCH! LET MY FRIENDS GO!!" he yelled in rage, his blue electricity surged through his body and his eyes glowed blue with fury as he clenched his fists tightly. He charged at Eggman with rage yelling and ready to punch him.

*Now*

"EGGBOTS! ATTACK!!" shouted Eggman in glee. The entire army of robots immediately fired lasers at Sonic, forcing him to jump out of the way and roll on the floor, dodging every laser attack with ease.

"Heh, not quite as impressive as you thought it would be," Sonic sneered before jumping back up and charging back at them again. He used his spin dash powers to dodge a barrage of lasers and punched one robot in the face, then kicked another one off its feet and slammed another one to the ground with full force, breaking it into pieces.

He ran forward, punching several robots left and right until one hit the switch that sent the entire army into chaos mode. Sonic opened his palm and created the power of wind turned into the orb. 

"Sonic Wind!" he yelled as he threw the power orb high above the ground. It exploded and formed a massive tornado that engulfed half the city. Everyone within the radius immediately froze in fear due to the sheer amount of power coming from Sonic and his attack. Some of the smaller bots also froze in surprise due to their lack of knowledge of Sonic's powers.

"Don't just stand there! Attack that damn hedgehog!" yelled Eggman while pointing at the pesky blue rodent to send more attacks his way. Sonic quickly avoided a laser attack by rolling across the floor, avoiding all the lasers aimed at him. 

Sonic used Cyloop to encircle the robots and blasted their parts with his wind powers to keep them busy. Meanwhile, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles struggled to escape the electricity-induced state. Once they did, they noticed that everyone was frozen in place except for Sonic who was using air currents and winds to fight against the robots.

They slowly picked their way over to him and stood next to him. Knuckles gave his friend an awkward smile and mumbled something about being proud of him.

“He can do it. I know he can,” said Knuckles.

Sonic Axe kicked a robot that flew toward him, shattering him into pieces and causing a few of the other robots to freeze in shock. 

‘No need to worry, guys. Everything's cool now. I’m going to save you,’ he thought them as he kept fighting off the large number of robots Eggman was throwing at him.

“You think you can beat them that easily? Well, how about we try a hard way?” Eggman pressed the remote to increase the electricity, sending Sonic’s friends to their bodies and they were screaming in pain as their bodies were being electrified and electrocuted again by the huge amounts of volts coursing through their bodies. 

“NO!!” Sonic screamed as he saw his friends suffering in agony. He felt his heart drop with guilt seeing them like this. But, he had to concentrate and defeat these robots and rescue his friends. ‘I gotta save my friends, even if I have to destroy everything in my path!’ he swore inwardly to himself.

“And I have something for you, too. My new robot… Neo Metal Sonic!” he gestured to a new robot, Sonic’s eyes widened as he could see a different model than his old one. He had black eyes with bright red irises, he had five long, sharp quills like a star, he had black shoulder plates attached to his shoulders, he had a yellow similar rocket engine, these sharp blades protruding from his knees, he wore red elf-like shoes. He also wore a spiked belt with a black cape around his waist.

“You should be impressed with how much improvement I’ve made! You’ll love Neo. He’s going to give you such a good workout!” Eggman laughed maniacally.

“Oh yeah? Try me!” roared Sonic as he charged toward Neo Metal Sonic. He swung his fist at Neo Metal Sonic but he dodged it by moving back in time. Neo Metal Sonic swifted a kick at Sonic, causing Sonic to stumble backward. He jumped forward and swung his legs at Neo Metal Sonic, but Neo Metal Sonic quickly moved out of the way.

Neo Metal Sonic then launched a kick towards Sonic’s chest and Sonic ducked to avoid it. Neo Metal Sonic quickly followed up by launching a spinning kick to Sonic’s stomach, Sonic gasped for breath and fell to his knees. 

“Sonic!” cried Amy, she wanted to go out there and help him, but she was trapped inside the glass sphere. 

Eggman laughed maniacally, “See? Now you’re finally seeing where my true genius lays,” he said. “But you won’t win this battle, Sonic! You may be strong enough to take care of those weaklings, but I assure you, once I control the entire planet, you will be nothing compared to me!”

“Screw you, Eggman! You think you can come in here and control the whole world?!  Like hell you can!” Sonic spat angrily.

“You say that now, but I assure you, my plan will succeed!” replied Eggman confidently. “As I said before, everything belongs to me now!”

“Yeah? Well, let me tell you something, Eggman. I'm going to prove you wrong. This is my world, and you're not going to rule it! No matter what you do, nothing is going to make me leave!” Sonic growled darkly.

“Really? Well, I hope you're prepared to lose then because I'm going to tear everything down around you! Neo, attack Sonic!” Eggman pointed at the blue hedgehog as Sonic stood up to prepare himself.

Neo Metal Sonic rushed Sonic with his razor-sharp claws slashing at him and Sonic swiftly rolled away to avoid his attack.

“Sonic Wind!” he yelled as he blasted Neo Metal Sonic with his wind powers, knocking him flying far away from him.

Sonic stood back up and charged after Neo Metal Sonic, who was still recovering from the blow from earlier. Sonic struck a punch, but Neo blocked his punch, raised his free hand, and charged lightning at Sonic, sending him falling backward onto the ground. Sonic groaned, holding his throbbing side, trying to push his painful body to get back up on his feet. Neo Metal Sonic pounced on Sonic and slashed at his side, hitting him with his sharp claws, but Sonic pushed him off and got back up to continue fighting.

Tails watched them fighting and struggling to find some way to help Sonic, but every time he tried, something always seemed to stop him before he could help. 

“Come on, Sonic,” whispered Tails. 

Sonic slowly got up, holding the side of his ribs got slashed by Neo Metal Sonic, bleeding badly. He gritted his teeth in pain as he began to run toward Neo Metal Sonic, but the robot was faster than him.

He jumped over, landed on top of Sonic, and started digging his sharp claws into his abdomen, cutting him deeply while he was distracted. Sonic screamed as his body was sliced open in front of Tails’ horrified eyes.

“STOP!” yelled Amy, her tears flowing down her cheeks uncontrollably, feeling helpless and powerless. She wanted to run to Sonic’s aid, but each step caused her excruciating pain.

“Damn it…” Sonic clenched his teeth in anger, his eyes filled with hatred and disappointment. 'Am I gonna die like this?' thought Sonic. His vision blurred slightly as blood leaked out of his wounds.

Amy, Tails, and Knuckles looked at Sonic in hopelessness and despair. They knew that Sonic was going to die. All they could do now was watch. They were stuck inside a glass ball, unable to move or speak anything, but they wished there was some way for them to comfort Sonic or help him somehow.

Eggman chuckled evilly as he was enjoying the view of Sonic getting hurt. “This will be so much fun watching the life drain out of him,” Eggman smiled evilly.

“You son of a bitch! Let us go right now!” shouted Knuckles with rage as he slammed with his fist.

"No can do, red echidna. Your friend's already dying. I'm afraid you'll have to stay in your little crystal prison till the end," Eggman smirked.

Knuckles grunted in frustration as he collapsed to his knees onto the glass and slammed his fist. 

"Heh, you're just a pathetic little whelp! There's no use in beating yourself up like this!" Eggman taunted him mockingly. "Just like your precious friend over there." He motioned to the dying hedgehog as he continued laughing like a lunatic.

"Now, Sonic, do you have any last word before Neo kills you?" asked Eggman.

"Fuck you…" Sonic breathed heavily, closing his eyes as pain engulfed his body.

"Well, that wasn't very polite. And it doesn't seem like your vocabulary has improved since the last time I spoke to you." Eggman grinned wickedly, pleased with his accomplishment. "Neo, kill Sonic!" ordered Eggman. The robot nodded, ready to finish Sonic off and destroy all traces of him.

Sonic closed his eyes and prepared for the worst. ‘I’m sorry, everyone. If only I was stronger, then maybe I could help you guys get out of here. Maybe then you would be safe’ he thought as he braced himself for the attack.

“Stop! Please don’t! I beg of you! Please….Don’t do it” pleaded Amy, crying uncontrollably.

“Hahahaha! Say goodbye to your best friends!” said Eggman with a smug smirk.

Neo Metal Sonic began to kill Sonic, but suddenly, the onyx hedgehog grabbed the robot's neck, slamming it back against the floor, smashing its head against the floor, making it fall unconscious instantly.

He glared at the unconscious machine and turned back to see what was happening with his friends. Sonic opened his eyes in surprise. It was…

“Sh… Shadow…” whispered Sonic.

“What?!” Eggman was in disbelief Shadow was still alive. “How are you still alive?!” he demanded angrily.

“Because I’m stronger than before, Egghead,” answered Shadow emotionlessly, he stared down at the lifeless body of Neo Metal Sonic before turning his gaze back to Eggman.

Sonic smiled sadly to himself. Of course. Shadow was never stupid. Sonic couldn’t believe it. His lover was still alive. 

“Guys, look! It’s Shadow!” exclaimed Amy. 

“No way!” surprised Knuckles. 

“Shadow's alive?” asked Tails.

Sonic slowly got up on his feet and made his way over to Shadow. “Shadow. How are you still alive?” asked Sonic as he kneeled beside Shadow and embraced him tightly.

“You’ll never believe how powerful I’ve become since we last saw each other. The Chaos Emerald is more powerful than anyone ever imagined…” said Shadow.

Sonic kissed him happily, and Shadow kissed him back passionately, he pulled away for a second as he gazed at Sonic lovingly. He cupped Sonic’s cheek gently and stroked the cheek with his thumb.

“Sonic,” murmured Shadow. “I love you.”

“I love you too. More than anything else,” said Sonic, his voice cracked from the emotion he felt in his heart.

“Now rest,” Shadow said as he gazed at Eggman with determination. “I’ll take care of this bastard.”

“Be careful, Shadow,” warned Sonic. Shadow smirked and gave him a nod.

“Now you’re going to pay for what you did, and I am going to kill you myself!” snarled Eggman menacingly.

“And you will never succeed, asshole. We’ll take down you and destroy you forever! You’re not going to win!” shouted Shadow defiantly. 

“I’d like to see you try, Shadow!” laughed Eggman sarcastically, his face twisted in an evil grin. “My robots have been working tirelessly to create a weapon powerful enough to defeat the likes of you two. When I’m finished with you, Sonic will suffer just like he had suffered when he defeated me all those years ago!”

“You leave Sonic out of this!” yelled Shadow. 

“Oh really? Are you sure about that?” said Eggman, cocking his head to the side in amusement. “Do you think you can defeat me, Shadow? Even though you lost the first round to Sonic? Well, let me show you what power the Eggman Empire can hold! Eggbots, attack!” commanded Eggman as the robots ran towards them.

All the robots charged at Shadow, and as soon as they reached him, Shadow’s body started to glow red and a bright light burst forth from him.

“CHAOS BLAST!!” he yelled as he annihilated these Eggbots with a destructive blast of light and heat causing a huge explosion around him. The robot pieces and dust flew into the air, and everyone shielded themselves from the sudden blast.

After a few seconds, a deafening roar could be heard echoing through the area. The shockwave of the explosion blew away all the shards of glass that formed the dome, leaving a gaping hole in the ground underneath it. Sonic fell back on the ground with a loud thud, he clutched his stomach with both hands as he gasped for air.

"Dammit!" Sonic hissed in pain. 

Eggman raised his head and gasped in shock these Eggbots were completely destroyed, all the scraps and metals were scattered everywhere on the ground, creating a massive cloud of debris around them.

"WHAT?!" yelled Eggman, completely shocked. "NO!!! NO! NO!!! NO!!!! THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!! IT WAS MY ATTACK!!" raged Eggman. "I AM A MASTER OF TECHONOLGY! HOW DARE YOU RUIN ME!?" yelled Eggman furiously as he began to frantically scan Sonic, trying to locate the damage he inflicted. However, all his efforts were futile. "What happened to my masterpiece, Ultimate Lifeform!? This is impossible, how can someone that powerful have disappeared without a trace!?" shrieked Eggman furiously.

Shadow walked towards Eggman and stood in front of him, looking at him in contempt with anger and hate in his eyes. "You should have stayed dead. No one ever gets hurt by me if you don't deserve it."

Eggman's eyes widened in shock as he watched Shadow walking up to him, holding his fists tightly.

 "Wait! Don't do this Shadow... Please..." pleaded Eggman terrified as Shadow's fist came close to crushing his skull. "...Please..."

"Sorry, old man, but it's too late," whispered Shadow with malice as his knuckles collided with his face. Eggman cried out in agony, clutching his face. His body trembled in pain as blood gushed out from the wound where his hand met his face, dropping on the ground like raindrops. He fell to the ground, motionless.

Shadow picked up the remote and released Sonic's friends from the glass sphere. Amy ran to Sonic and hugged him as tight as she could, sobbing uncontrollably. Sonic wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. "Sonic, are you okay?" asked Amy as she buried her face in his chest. Sonic returned the hug tenderly.

"I'm okay, Amy," whispered Sonic softly while caressing her hair, which she had unruly as usual.

"You're badly hurt, Sonic. We need you to get to the hospital," said Tails. 

"Yeah, that robot almost killed you, dude," said Knuckles.

Sonic groaned in pain as he began leaking blood again from his abdomen as he tried to keep at bay the pain.

"We'll get you to the hospital, Sonic, just hang in there!" assured Amy comfortingly.

"Amy, please go call an ambulance," ordered Shadow, looking at Amy.

"Okay, I'll call an ambulance right now," agreed Amy. She went over to the payphone and dialed 911. After about ten minutes, ambulances and police cars arrived at the scene, and paramedics rushed to work on Sonic immediately. The cops and medics worked hard on Sonic, trying to treat his injuries. They managed to stop most of the bleeding and put pressure on his abdomen. It didn't take long until he was stable and took him to the hospital.

Chapter 25: Eggman Attacks

At the therapy, Sonic was talking to Dr. Lee about his depression and grieving about Shadow. His therapist, an Asian old man with a clean-shaven face and slick gray hair that had been neatly trimmed was leaning forward in his chair in interest. He looked like he was thinking about something important.

"I'm sorry to hear what happened," he said finally. "You were such a good friend. And you said you developed feelings for Shadow, right?" He glanced at Sonic who nodded. "And you started dating recently?"

"We weren't actually dating yet," Sonic said, rubbing his arm. "Shadow and I became enemies before we got together. And now, well…" He shrugged. "Now that I know how much Shadow cared for me, it feels like all the good times are gone. It's like I never knew him."

"And when did you meet him?" asked Dr. Lee, scribbling his notepad.

"That night, I met him at the street city where I was falsely accused of stealing Chaos Emerald from the bank. We started a battle against him one-on-one, but he warped everywhere. There was no way I could beat him, then he teleported until the cops arrived. And I was taken to Prison Island," Sonic continued. "2 days later, Amy found me there when I wasn't impressed. She always was looking for me and chasing me at all times," Sonic rolled his eyes.

Dr. Lee held his chin when he nodded, "Mm-hm. And what happened next?"

"When I was freed from the prison, get ready to fight Shadow again. I came back for round 2, we started to battle once again until we stopped fighting for a moment. Shadow walked to me and then he kissed me," said Sonic.

Dr. Lee stopped scribbling his notepad to look up curiously, staring into Sonic's emerald green eyes.

"Shadow kissed you?" he asked, incredulously.

"Um, yeah, I didn't know what was this about, but I felt kinda weird, and I didn't know if it was just because of his mind games or whatever." Sonic scratched his head.

"So, did he have feelings for you at any time during your relationship?" asked Dr. Lee, tilting his head slightly. "It may seem like he had feelings for you, but the real reason might be because he was trying to get close to you." His pencil tapping on his notepad, he leaned back in his chair.

Sonic looked down and twiddled his thumbs for a second. "Well, I thought he was going to kill me, but he kissed me. My very first kiss with Shadow," Sonic said. "I couldn't stop thinking about it afterward. He had so many different emotions at the time and I felt confused, like I really wanted to know him and loved him, but my brain still told me he was dangerous."

"And after that incident, you felt that way ever since? Did you see each other again?" Dr. Lee pushed his glasses further up on his nose.

"My team and I went to the Space Colony Ark, trying to stop Eggman from destroying the planet. And Shadow... he said he lost his friend Maria 50 years ago," said Sonic.

"Maria? A young girl? She died 50 years ago?" asked Dr. Lee.

Sonic nodded, "Yes. That happened 50 years ago, they were trying to escape from the G.U.N. army. Unfortunately, Shadow survived and Maria didn't make it. He was really devastated about her death. So that's how Shadow's story was sad."

"That's such a tragic story," sighed Dr. Lee.

"I felt bad for Shadow when he lost someone he loved. I understood how he felt. He became vengeful against humanity for taking away the one person he truly loved," Sonic said. "Shadow isn't evil. Just... complicated. But I understand why he acts the way he does." He looked up as Dr. Lee wrote in his notes.

"What else can you tell me about Shadow? Do you think he would ever hurt you? Would he ever try to destroy you?" asked Dr. Lee.

"No! No, of course not! He just lost it. He had a mental breakdown for a little bit after Maria died. It took us a while to fix things and calm him down," answered Sonic. "But he won't ever hurt me. Shadow was just an emotional hedgehog. I realized he was suffering from PTSD and depression after he lost Maria."

He looked down at his lap, frowning softly and chewing his lip. "I... I had always feelings for Shadow. Maybe it's just because Shadow is so lonely and depressed. And I was always there for him," said Sonic.

The therapist nodded, "Mm-hm, and what happened next?"

"Uh, well, it's embarrassing to say..." Sonic rubbed his arm nervously. "Shadow and I... started to have sex in the Space Colony when my team caught us making out and Eggman flipped out for wasting our time to save the planet."

Dr. Lee stopped scribbling his notepad once again and stared at Sonic with wide eyes. Sonic flushed red and averted his gaze. He was used to people laughing at him when he admitted his sexuality and feelings, but he'd hoped that Dr.Lee wouldn't react badly.

After a long silence, Dr. Lee asked, "And you're still attracted to Shadow?"

"Um, yeah, I guess... I'm still confused. I mean... I never stopped loving Shadow. It's just that lately, I've been wondering what we could have been if we had more time." Sonic said. "It's confusing to say that after all this time, I still love him. I love Shadow."

"And how did Shadow die?" he asked.

"I don't know how, exactly, but he just used too much power at that point, and he sacrificed himself by using the Chaos Emerald." Sonic shook his head sadly. "That was the last time I saw Shadow alive. Then, the next day, Shadow was gone. The only thing that remained of him was an empty shell. And I was left alone to deal with everything." Sonic frowned. "I missed Shadow so much."

The therapist tapped his pen onto his notepad and hummed. "And after that, how did you feel about Shadow after you realized you were still attracted to him?"

Sonic paused, thinking over how to respond. "It's hard to describe it. I loved Shadow, and he loved me… but when he was gone, I'd never felt so depressed before in my entire life. Everything hurt, and I was so mad at myself for not saving Shadow." He swallowed thickly, closing his eyes.

"Well, Sonic, you're attracted to Shadow that you are homosexual, and he was emotionally invested in you and you returned his affection," said Dr. Lee firmly, "and you know what? You don't regret it. Now that you are aware of the depth of your feelings, what do you want to do about them?"

Sonic opened his eyes and sat up straight, blinking at Dr. Lee. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"If you're gay, what do you want to do about your feelings?" asked the psychiatrist.

"Well... I wish Shadow was here..." mumbled Sonic.

"Hmm, well, I think that's enough for now," he said as he stopped writing his notepad and reached over to pick up his pen and write down some more information. "I'll set up the next appointment for next week. If you feel better at any point, please contact me."

"Okay," said Sonic as he stood up and headed towards the door. "Thank you so much, Dr. Lee."

"You're welcome," smiled the doctor as he waved goodbye to Sonic.

As he exited the doctor's office, he walked to 7-11 to buy a chili dog, Prime Hydrating Drink, and chili Fritos for himself. The cashier scanned the snack and placed it inside the plastic bag, leaving money on the counter. As he turned around to leave, he went to the park sat on the bench, and ate his chili dog while he watched cars zoom past the nearby streets and the kids were playing in the playground and sports. He was eating alone in the park which was nice since no one bothered him, but that also meant no one could interrupt him. He finished his chili dog while reading a book on his phone. He felt something rolling to his feet, it was a soccer ball. The kids ran toward the blue hedgehog and apologized for it.

"Heh, sorry, mister," said the boy with a short dreadlocks.

"It's okay. I wasn't paying attention to where I was looking," said Sonic, smiling up at the young kids. He scooped the ball up and gave it to him. "Here you go, kiddo,"

"Thanks," said the boy.

"Hey, you wanna play with us?" asked the boy with his hat backward.

"Huh? Me?" Sonic pointed to himself.

"Yeah!" he laughed. "We play soccer all the time, you can join if you want."

"Uh, sure, why not?" Sonic shrugged and began walking through the park with them. "Do you guys have names?" he asked.

"Yep! My name's Mike, and this is Luke," said the boy wearing the hat.

"Nice to meet you, Mike, and Luke. My name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. You two seem really nice," said Sonic.

"So let's play soccer!" exclaimed Mike, bouncing around excitedly.

They ran around the field, the kids were kicking soccer balls back and forth and screaming and shouting in excitement. They were having so much fun, and Sonic joined right along, feeling happy being able to play with children again after so long. Eventually, everyone ran out of breath, panting and smiling at each other.

"Wow, you guys must be really good at soccer!" grinned Sonic.

"Yeah, we are. We got pretty good at it during our summer camp when our coach made us take turns playing a game of soccer in the field every afternoon," said Mike.

"That sounds like fun. How about you, Luke? What sport do you play?" asked Sonic.

"I play soccer, as well. I'm kinda a good kicker. Like, good," said Luke.

"I see. I play baseball and rugby," said Sonic.

Mike looked at him curiously, "Are you a pitcher or a catcher? What's your favorite position?"

"I'm a batter, actually. I can hit a home run pretty fast," he replied with a smile.

"That's cool," said Mike.

Sonic stood up and stretched, yawning widely. "Well, I gotta get home now. Your parents must be worried about you," he said.

"Oh, yeah. Well, see you later, Sonic! We'll play again next time!" called Luke.

"See you around, Sonic!" added Mike.

With that, Sonic waved goodbye to Mike and Luke and then walked off home. The sun was starting to set, he ran through the city with a blue streak behind him. He was exhausted from playing soccer with the other kids. He had quite a lot of fun to help him to cure his depression, and make him forget about everything that had happened. He felt a little better.

'Oh, man. I felt a little better. That was really fun that I was playing soccer with them, and I haven't felt that good in months!' thought Sonic happily as he jogged the rest of the way home.

Sonic heard a scream in the distance, and he slowed down his jog, looking around. 'Huh? Who would scream like that in the middle of the night?' wondered Sonic. He then spotted the robots attacking the city. 'Those robot bastards again?! What is with these idiots attacking us?!' he growled angrily.

He ran off to defend the city, and he noticed more robots than usual patrolling the city. One of them grabbed Sonic's ankle, causing him to fall backward on the ground.

"Ah!" yelled Sonic. 'Ugh, these stupid things keep grabbing me.' he groaned, pushing away the robot and getting back up.

Sonic looked down the street to see if there was anything he could use to destroy the robots, but there weren't any convenient weapons lying around. He sighed and began running, hoping there was someone who needed his help.

"Hohohohoho!" an evil laughter echoed through the streets. He turned around where the evil laugh came from. Eggman lowered his Eggmobile and stood up, laughing evilly, "Well, well, well. If it isn't my old nemesis, Sonic the Hedgehog." he chuckled.

"Eggman!" Sonic growled. "What are you doing here?!" he demanded.

"This city is mine. I can come whenever I want without anyone stopping me," he replied smugly.

"Then why did you attack us?! You don't give up, do you?!" cried Sonic furiously.

"Because this city belongs to me, and I need a reason to attack a place," answered Eggman confidently. "Besides, you ruined my plans to kill you, so I figured it was only fair that I return the favor by taking care of your precious friends," he gestured to Sonic's friends who were trapped inside the glass bubble.

Sonic's eyes widened in horror. The team desperately tried to break free but it was useless. No matter how hard they struggled, there was nothing they could do. They were crying out for help.

"Guys!" He cried to his friend, then he angrily turned to Eggman. "Why are you doing this!? Let them go!" demanded Sonic, gritting his teeth.

Eggman chuckled, "You still don't understand, do you? This city belongs to me. I've been planning revenge ever since the moment I first laid eyes on you, Sonic the Hedgehog." he cackled maniacally. "It doesn't matter what kind of hero you are. All that matters is power. Power means power over the universe. And what you have given to me makes me very powerful."

"What're you gonna do to them?" demanded Sonic.

"Just watch," grinned Eggman, raised the remote to his hand, and pressed the button to electrify them, sending shocks through their bodies to paralyze them. They collapsed into helplessness.

Sonic gasped in shock and anger, tears coming to his eyes as the electricity continued to pulse through their bodies. After a few seconds, Eggman stopped pressing the remote. "There. Now you can stop interfering."

"YOU SON OF A BITCH! LET MY FRIENDS GO!!" he yelled in rage, his blue electricity surged through his body and his glowed blue with fury as he clenched his fist tightly. He charged at Eggman with rage yelling and ready to punch him.

Chapter 24: Amy's Heartbroken, Sonic’s True Feelings

*In Sonic's house*

Sonic was watching Beavis & Butthead on TV when the knock came at his door. He paused it, frowning slightly, wondering who would come by at such an odd time. He went over to the door and looked through the peephole. He opened the door to reveal who it was.

"Amy?" He exclaimed in surprise as he recognized her. She was smiling widely, looking very happy. Amy wore a white dress with a pink heart pattern, white glitter ballet flats, and a white bow. The color of her lipstick was pink.

"Hey, Sonic! How are you?" Amy asked him brightly.

"Oh, I'm doing great," Sonic responded awkwardly as she walked past him to enter his house.

Sonic frowned slightly, shutting the door behind them. "So, uh… what are you doing here?"

"Well, I just wanted to see how you were doing since you've been so busy lately!" Amy explained excitedly.

"I'm just watching TV right now…" Sonic said, looking away from her. "Do you want something or..?"

"No, I don't need anything," Amy told him happily. "Actually, I just wanted to talk to you about something… but if you're busy, then that's okay, too."

Sonic blinked in surprise. "Uh… what do you want to talk about?" he asked.

"I want to talk about being together," Amy answered simply. "You know, like we hang out. We can be together all the time now, and we can still work out together and do stuff together."

Sonic felt himself start to blush, even though she couldn't see it. "Um, that's very nice of you, Amy…" he began nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "But I think I'll pass-"

"Oh no, Sonic! Not this time!" Amy interrupted before he could finish saying no. "I want our friends and family to know about this so they'll approve of us getting married!"

"Are you for real?! There's no way I can marry you! No one is going to want to marry someone like you!" Sonic protested angrily. "Everyone hates me, you know they do! And besides, I'd never get married! It's not possible."

"What do you mean?!" Amy asked.

"I mean … I… I… I don't love you, Amy." Sonic finally spoke up after a long awkward silence between them. Amy gaped at him in disbelief, her expression twisting into something more confused and hurt than before. "I mean, I don't like you. I don't want to marry you. That's what I meant."

Amy's eyes swelled in tears as she started to get mad at him. "Sonic! You can't tell me that! After everything we've done, after all we've been through, you still don't feel anything for me? Is there no other explanation why you keep rejecting me!?"

"I kept rejecting you because you asked me some stupid questions and made me embarrassed about my feelings," Sonic admitted bitterly. "And you didn't want to give me any time to answer them. So I got angry and pushed you away! I thought it would make you stop asking those stupid questions, but you never did! You just kept asking until you got what you wanted, and you know damn well that your relationship means nothing to me! You were just using me! Like always! Well, I'm not falling for it anymore!"

There was a long silence between the two again as Sonic stared angrily at Amy. When he eventually broke their gaze, he saw that tears were streaming down her face. His expression softened slightly in guilt and pity, even though he knew it wouldn't change anything. He still hated himself and couldn't forgive himself for how he had treated Amy.

Sonic sighed, "Look, Amy, I'm... I'm sorry. I really am. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. You didn't deserve it. I wish things had ended differently. But we just can't go back to how things used to be, right? I mean, that's impossible. So let's just put it behind us and forget about it. Okay?" He hugged Amy tightly, trying to comfort her. She held onto him and sobbed quietly against his shoulder. Eventually, she pulled away from him and wiped away her tears. Sonic took her hands gently in his and smiled softly. "That's better, huh?"Amy nodded in agreement, sniffling slightly. "Okay… let's just forget about it."

"Amy... there's something I need to tell you," said Sonic.

Amy looked puzzled but waited for him to continue. He sighed again and looked away from her. "I'm… I'm gay. That means I won't be kissing a girl..." Amy's mouth dropped open in shock. Sonic continued before she could reply, "I know that sounds crazy. A guy who likes guys shouldn't like girls, either. But… that's what happened. So if you ever wanna kiss another guy, just ignore me."

"No, I... I'm so happy for you," said Amy.

Sonic's face lit up in joy. "Really?"

"Of course! I mean, I know you haven't dated anyone in years, but you seemed so happy. I didn’t even know you were gay until recently, but you’re obviously really happy!" said Amy.

"Yeah," Sonic replied with a smile. "I really am.”

“So who was it?” she asked.

“It’s… It’s Shadow,” Sonic said. “He was my boyfriend for awhile. But I lost him recently trying to save him from falling to his death,” said Sonic sadly.

Amy placed her hand to her mouth in shocked. “Oh, my God. I’m so sorry. But… Shadow? You loved him? Sonic, why didn’t you tell me?” she asked him, sounding concerned.

“Because I didn’t show you about my true feelings with Shadow. Since that day, we started a battle in the forest and Shadow kissed me. I couldn’t get him off my mind afterwards, and eventually I fell in love with him. That’s why I tried to stay away from him, because I thought you might hate me. But I couldn’t avoid it forever, and eventually I realized that I couldn’t pretend anymore. I needed to tell you,” said Sonic, rubbing himself in his arms self consciously.

“So that’s why you loved Shadow. It wasn’t just because he kissed you or saved your life, or because you fell in love with him,” said Amy knowingly. “It was because he reminded you of me.”

“Exactly,” said Sonic, nodding with depression. “Now, I know I should have told you sooner. God, I missed Shadow so much. I missed him every day and every night. And the more time passes, the worse I feel when I think about him. I feel so sad all the time. But I have you and Tails and Knuckles now, and I don’t want to ruin that,” Sonic wiped his tears away as he said the last part.

“Oh, Sonic!” Amy cried, moving closer and hugging him.

Sonic returned her embrace, wrapping his arms around Amy’s waist. “Thanks, Amy. For understanding. I’m glad you understand.”

“Y-you’re welcome, Sonic,” she smiled weakly as she wiped her tears away.

Sonic sighed, “So… wanna watch Beavis and Butthead?” he asked.

Amy nodded, “I love that show. It’s hilarious.”

Sonic turned on the TV and started watching Beavis and Butthead together.

*Eggman’s Lair*

Eggman was sitting on a chair while typing the keyboard of his computer with both hands, occasionally glancing over at the TV screen. His lips quirked into a small, sly smirk whenever he caught sight of Sonic and Amy in the picture on the screen.

“Hehehehe, time to take revenge, you pathetic little hedgehog,” Eggman grinned, chuckling darkly to himself. “You’ve ruined everything I worked so hard for! And your precious little girlfriend, too!”

“Sir, are you sure this is a good idea?” asked Orbot. “Because last time Shadow worked for you, we almost died before crashing the Earth! The next time will probably end in disaster! Why else would we want to risk that?”

“Oh, I believe we’ll survive this time, Orbot. I have a plan, and I think it’ll go smoothly,” smirked Eggman.

“But sir, how can you know?” asked Cubot.

“I just do,” Eggman replied.

“If you say so, sir,” said Orbot reluctantly.

“Just wait till you see what I’m planning. Then you’ll realize that you were wrong all along,” Eggman grinned evilly, twiddling his fingers.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 23: Shadow's Return

*Somewhere in the Beach*

The seagulls flew over the sky and the sound of the ocean crashed against the shore. It was so calm that you could almost hear the waves rolling against the rocks on the beach as Sonic was walking through the beach. He wore a white suit and bare feet. The blue hedgehog sighed as he looked at the ocean waving gently with the sun glistening on the sea. It felt really nice to be able to enjoy the warm breeze and sunshine without any worries.

However, there was one thing he had been depressed about: his lover was gone. No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn't stop thinking about Shadow. Sonic didn’t want to admit it, but he was still very hurt by his death. Sonic’s face became saddened at the thought of him.

Sonic felt a presence by his side, he turned around to see someone who stood there in the distance. It was an onyx hedgehog wearing a white suit with bare feet. Sonic's face lit in surprise that his lover was alive. It was Shadow. He was smiling gently at Sonic with a kind look on his face.

Sonic smiled and walked to Shadow and met his crimson-red eyes with his own emerald green ones. He couldn't believe his lover was alive. He felt the happiness inside him swelling up like a balloon. His heart was beating really fast for some reason as if everything in his life was worth it. He just couldn't understand why Shadow had left like that. Why did he leave to the other side of the world just to tell him goodbye?

"Hello, Sonic," said Shadow.

"Shadow... I've missed you," said Sonic. "So much…"

He hugged his lover tightly, embracing him tightly, making sure to memorize every single detail of his lover. He wanted to savor this moment forever. He had been waiting to see his lover for so long and he had no idea when they would meet again.

"It's good to be back, Sonic. Even after what happened… we should never have separated." He said. "You know that, right?"

Sonic smiled softly as tears filled his eyes. He knew they were meant to be together forever. They both knew it since the beginning and they both knew that they were meant to be.

"Yes, I know," answered Sonic. “But I can’t help feeling sad and hurt. You left me behind… I”—Sonic’s voice broke— “I don’t understand.”

Shadow caressed his partner's cheek, trying to comfort him. "I'm sorry, Sonic. I know you will feel upset about it, but we're going to go stay together now."

Sonic looked up at Shadow, "We?" he asked.

"Yes. We need to be together. We belong together. I promise I'll always be by your side. Always." said Shadow.

"Shadow..." whispered Sonic.

"Sonic..." whispered Shadow.

And they were about to kiss, but suddenly, something went wrong. Shadow noticed his hand started to disintegrate and the sand around his hand started to crumble away. Shadow was surprised to see this and panicked, "Aaah!" screamed Shadow.

Sonic began to freak out. He realized that something bad was happening. "Shadow?! What is happening?!" cried Sonic.

"I don't know!" he cried. His body began to slowly disintegrate. "Sonic, help me!" shouted Shadow.

Sonic was horrified. He watched as his beloved lover died before him. Tears were streaming down his cheeks as his body disintegrated into nothingness. It wasn't real. It didn't feel real. Everything was too sudden. It made Sonic panic.

"Help me!!" cried Shadow as his body fully dissolved into pieces and he disappeared into thin air.

Sonic ran to save his lover, but it was too late. He fell to the sand, clutching onto Shadow as if he would disappear once again, and then his mind shut down and he fainted from sadness and shock. He was completely numb, unable to move or even think properly. He grabbed nothing but sand around his fingers as he started to panic. He didn't know what was happening to him. He felt like he was about to faint and lose consciousness. Everything felt like it was spinning around him. He needed to get control of himself but there was no way to do it. It was impossible. He was completely helpless as he sat there crying on the sandy ground.

"No! No, no, no, no! Not again! Not again!!" Sonic cried. "Shadow!! Shadow!!" he screamed frantically as he grabbed handfuls of sand and he tried desperately to hold on to his lover, but it was futile.

Sonic bolted out of his nightmare violently as he felt the cold sweat covering him. He looked around and saw nothing but darkness. He quickly realized where he was and that it was not a dream. It was a nightmare. A terrible nightmare. He couldn’t believe it. There was no way it was true. But it was and there was no escape. It had happened.

After he calmed down, it was a bad dream. Sonic sighed as he ran his hand on his quill, and glanced over the digital clock which read 4:17 A.M. He was exhausted and emotionally drained. He didn’t know how to handle what happened in the dream. He had a lot of questions. Was it because he failed to save Shadow? Why did he have to die? Why couldn't he save him? He felt so sad and alone. He wished he could make things better for Shadow, but he just couldn't. All he could do was wish that Shadow was alive. Maybe he'd come back someday. Maybe he'd finally be able to get rid of those nightmares. Maybe someday he’ll get some closure and peace of mind.

"Oh, Christ. I feel like shit," Sonic mumbled to himself as he lay on his pillow. He stayed in bed for a few seconds and then he got up and went to the bathroom to take a leak. He turned on the light and his eyes hurt from the brightness of the bathroom lights. He turned the knob to dim the light and the light automatically changed to dark as a result.

He lifted the toilet seat, peed in the toilet bowl, and flushed it. He washed his hands with soap and water. He dried his hands with a towel and went back to bed.

*Somewhere in the Lab*

In the darkness, a tube filled with water was connected to a monitor screen with some information displayed on it. At the bottom of the glass was a green liquid that glowed faintly in the darkness. It was an onyx hedgehog inside that capsule, wearing an oxygen mask that covered half of his face, a Holter monitor attached to his chest, and an IV needle inserted in his arm. He was unconscious. The monitor showed his vital signs. A small green line indicated that he was alive, but not responding yet. His eyes remained closed. His heartbeat was weak and slow. His breaths were shallow. He was in severe critical condition. It was Shadow the Hedgehog. He was alive.

The scientists gathered at the monitor, staring at the green line.

"What do you think caused this?" asked Dr. Kusac, who was standing beside Dr. Rochell, the head scientist for the lab.

"No clue. Maybe a malfunction of the experiment?" suggested Dr. Wilson, an older man with a thick mustache.

"He must have used his power when his energy ran low or when he lost track of time and it caused his health to drop drastically. He looks unhealthy." Said Dr. Kusac.

"Well then, it doesn’t matter what happened exactly," replied Dr. Rochell as she put her glasses back on. "Eggman tried to destroy the Earth, but his plan failed."

"Agreed, we'll just have to continue testing this experiment to see what else he has stored inside him. He has so many potential abilities so this might be our last chance," replied Dr. Wilson.

Inside the capsule, Shadow was dreaming. It was a very strange dream. It was the first one that Gerald Robotnik created in the Colony Space Ark where he met a human girl named Maria. They played together, talked, ate, and slept together. She was very special to him. They talked about people who lived on Earth, their feelings, and their dreams.

In the next dream, the Space Ark was under attack, and Shadow and Maria were being chased by G.U.N. military forces. Shadow tried to stop them, but Maria entrapped Shadow in the pod trying to break free. The soldier shot Maria in the spine and she died. Shadow cried out in despair and grief.

Inside the tube, Shadow's eyes twitched slightly as he continued to dream. This time the monitor screen showed a line indicating his vital signs. Slowly but surely, the line started to increase and Shadow started to stir a bit in his sleep.

In another dream, Shadow was freed by Eggman and took revenge on them for what he did to Maria. In the final dream, Shadow and Sonic fought against the Final Hazard preventing the destruction of the Earth. After the monster was defeated, Shadow used too much power and passed out due to exhaustion. He was sent falling from the sky. Sonic came running to catch him, but it was too late and Shadow landed somewhere on the Earth.

Back to reality, Shadow bolted his eyes open, and the glass started to break all around him. As it cracked, the shards of glass flew across the lab and the water spilled everywhere on the floor. The alarm was blaring and all the machines were starting to work again. Shadow took off the oxygen mask and gasped for air, looking around confused. He wanted to know where he was. How did he get there? Did he remember anything? What was the dream? He could remember the last thing he remembered clearly, but after that, everything was blank.

Suddenly, someone walked towards him and he looked up at him, it was a tall man in his 50s or 60s. He had white hair, wore glasses, and was dressed very nicely.

“You are awake now. Good. Welcome back to the land of the living,” said the old man. “My name is Professor Charles Kusac. You are safe and sound now. Welcome back, Mr. Hedgehog."

"Where am I?" asked Shadow.

"You're in the laboratory, in the G.U.N. It has been three weeks since you've awakened from your coma," said Professor Kusac as he smiled. "Now, Mr. Hedgehog, let's discuss why you were out of control and almost killed yourself," said Professor Kusac calmly.

Shadow tensed up as he stared at him, wondering what was going on. It took him quite a while to realize it was probably just a dream. However, it scared him nonetheless. How could he possibly forget something so important?

Professor Kusac noticed this, and he chuckled softly, “It seems that you don’t remember--"

"No," Shadow said firmly, "I do remember. I remember Maria died. I remember working with Eggman and trying to destroy the earth and kill countless lives. I remember everything except why I'm here now. What am I doing here?"

"Do you want to know?" asked Professor Kusac curiously. Shadow nodded his head slowly.

"After you stopped the destruction of the earth, your body became unstable. Your energy levels dropped rapidly. You collapsed and fell asleep in a fetal position right there on the ground," explained Professor Kusac. "But then, shortly after you began to fall asleep, you suddenly woke up and immediately activated your powers. From your reaction, we learned that it was due to the sudden release of your power. We found out that it was because you saved the world."

"I saved the world?" Shadow questioned in disbelief.

"Yes, it was thanks to your efforts. The life of thousands of millions of people was given back. Many will remember the name Shadow," said Professor Kusac.

'That's right. Sonic and I fought the Final Hazard and saved the planet,' thought Shadow, 'but that was only the start.'

"You are also very lucky to have survived and recovered from your injuries, considering what happened,” said Professor Kusac. “You have suffered heavy internal damage. And that isn’t all. There are several scars left behind."

Shadow frowned. "Scar tissue?"

"We don’t know what they were from yet, but based on your reactions and physical condition, we believe you were tortured during that time," explained Professor Kusac. "They look painful and are extremely deep."

Shadow looked down and touched his chest gingerly. "Is there any way to remove these marks?"

"Unfortunately, no. But we can heal them," answered Professor Kusac. "As you know, your body has been modified into an extremely powerful weapon. We can use it to restore your health and improve your strength."

Just then the door opened, and the commander walked into the lab followed by two armed guards. He was tall, muscular, and had white hair that reached below his shoulders. His green eye being left and his brown eye being right. He was dressed in a black military uniform. One of the guards held a gun in hand and the other was holding an automatic rifle. The other guard stood close to the Commander.

Professor Kusac was pleased to meet him as he greeted him, "Welcome back, sir. Have you completed your mission?"

"Yes, I did. I need to ask you some questions regarding the experiments done on Shadow the Hedgehog," replied the Commander.

"I shall answer everything that you want to know, sir," said Professor Kusac. "This is Mr. Shadow, the most remarkable creation ever made."

"Thank you," replied the Commander as he moved closer to Shadow examining his surroundings carefully.

"How are you feeling now?" asked the Commander.

"A little better. My energy level is normal," said Shadow.

"Well, that's good news,” said the Commander as he turned to address the rest of the room. "Now I need to ask you some questions, Mr. Shadow. Can you tell me how you managed to survive after you defeated the FInal Hazard?" he asked.

"I remember everything. When Sonic asked my help in destroying the Final Hazard to prevent the destruction of the planet, I activated my power to save everyone," answered Shadow.

"Interesting," said the Commander. "Sonic was your friend, wasn't he? At least you didn't lose your memory completely."

"Sonic... where is he? How long was I gone?" asked Shadow.

"You've been gone for 3 weeks, and as for Sonic, well, he's still depressed. He's lost someone dear to him and I think it hurts him every day," explained the Commander. "He's been having nightmares about you. He's worried about you."

Shadow lowered his gaze. So Sonic felt guilty about what happened and he blamed himself. That would explain everything; everything that had happened. It would explain why he had a hard time remembering things. He felt horrible knowing that he was responsible for leaving him like that. Was Sonic trying to save him before falling to his death?

"Tell me, what is your relationship with Sonic?" asked the Commander.

"I first met him in the city and we started fighting until the cops arrived, and then he appeared in the forest and started fighting again. I could tell his fighting skills were superior to mine," Shadow replied, "So I kissed him."

The Commander and the guards looked at each other with incredulous expressions. Professor Kusac just shook his head and sighed.

“Why did you kiss him?” asked the Commander.

"Because I loved him," whispered Shadow quietly. "I love him more than anything else in the entire world and he loves me too."

"Well, Shadow, if you love each other, then why did you end the fight before it started?" asked the Commander.

"I was afraid he might reject me, that he'll regret the decision later. But the moment he told me that he loved me too, I knew that he meant it. He said that he couldn't live without me and that he never wanted anyone else," explained Shadow.

"And what did you do?" asked the Commander.

"I sacrificed myself fighting that creature," answered Shadow. "Sonic was forced to watch me die."

"You did the right thing, but it doesn't seem like you regret it," said the Commander. "What made you change your mind?"

"I don't even know anymore," answered Shadow. "I guess everything happened so fast. Everything changed so quickly. I mean, you can't imagine what it was like seeing the world burn. Then all of a sudden I realized how much I really care about Sonic and I just kind of gave up on resisting."

Shadow looked at the Commander, "I love Sonic, and I want us to be together forever. I wish you could take me to him," he pleaded.

"We will see," promised the Commander. He looked at Professor Kusac who looked back at him, "Take him to his room. Get him some food and make sure he gets plenty of sleep."

Professor Kusac nodded and guided Shadow to his room, the Commander turned to the guards and ordered them to follow him and stay outside the room. Once Shadow's door shut, he sat down in one of the chairs. He ran his fingers through his short gray hair and sighed heavily.

"Well, it looks like you're getting tired. There's food over there on a table and you should be able to get some decent rest now," said Professor Kusac.

"Thank you, Professor," said Shadow.

Prof. Kusac left the room and closed the door. Then he went to the table and got a tray. He placed the tray on top of the table. It was a bowl of soup, bread, and a bottle of milk. He began to eat his food in silence when he noticed one of his inhibitor rings was missing. He must have used too much energy to obliterate the creature, and as he passed out falling down to the Earth one of his rings came out of his wrist. And Sonic grabbed the ring.

Sonic... He had his ring while Shadow was dead.

'He had my ring since I was gone,' Shadow thought as he looked outside the window, watching the clouds roll across the sky, the flock of birds flying through the air, and the grass swaying gently with the breeze.

'Once I recover, I will see you again' Shadow thought.

Chapter 22: The Sorrow of Sonic's Heart

The next day, they were sent back to Earth safely, the citizen were cheering on them, throwing confetti in their faces and the media had gone wild. Even some press members questioned their involvement with the war and how it would affect relations between humans and alien races. As if this was not bad enough, Sonic had a great time with the reporters before returning to his home in San Francisco.

When the sun had set, Sonic and the others separated and went to their homes, Sonic went to his house, closed the door behind him, and sighed sadly. He went upstairs to the bathroom, switched the light on, and turned on the shower. He felt the temperate warmth run down his hand if it was hot enough. He then took off all his gloves and shoes, threw them into the laundry basket, and jumped in the shower. The water ran down to his body, soothing him like a warm caress. He closed his eyes and let himself enjoy the feeling. Sonic knew he would have to get dressed again soon. Sonic opened his eyes in sadness and leaned his head against the cool wall. He missed Shadow already. He wanted to see his lover’s face as much as his own, but even more than that, he needed him by his side right now. It wasn’t so bad being away from ARK, he had always liked being free to fly around whenever he wanted, he just wished Shadow could be there too. But Shadow was dead. After showering, Sonic out of the shower and brushed his teeth for a second time, he put on his pajamas. He laid down and got comfortable under the covers. Sonic didn’t know if he could sleep for tonight. He stared at the ceiling until he finally drifted off into a deep slumber, filled with dreams of Shadow. The night passed without any disturbances.

The next morning, the sun was rising to the sky, and the birds were chirping, enjoying their beautiful new morning. Sonic groaned as he opened his eyes groggily, he rolled over and rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands. The clock next to him said it was 7 a.m. Sonic got out of his bed, walked to his window, and opened the curtain. He gazed out, the scenery was lovely and peaceful. Sonic frowned. It was a shame that Shadow couldn’t be here with him. Sonic knew he wasn’t going to be able to go through this day alone, not anymore.

'Shadow isn't there anymore. Why am I still thinking about him?' Sonic thought. 'Because he will never come back.'

He walked to his nightstand and opened the drawer, he took out Shadow's Inhibitor Ring that he kept for a whole time. A gold glow emanated from the ring and it shimmered in the sunlight. Sonic sighed softly as he stroked the ring with his finger.

"I wish you were here, Shadow," he whispered. Sonic frowned slightly. His mind began to wander to thoughts about their first meeting when he met Shadow, their time fighting each other, falling in love with each other, fighting against the FInal Hazard. And Shadow sacrificed himself for him. Sonic closed his eyes and frowned. "I hope you can see me today," whispered Sonic.

He put the ring back in the drawer and closed it. He went downstairs to the kitchen to make some cereal. He walked to the living room, sat on a couch, and turned on a TV to watch MTV. He was watching Ridiculousness while eating his cereal. After he finished his breakfast, he went to the kitchen to rinse the bowl out and put it in the dishwasher. He then went back to the living room and MTV for the next show. He watched Jersey Shore, which started playing after ten minutes. Sonic held the pillow to his torso and continued watching the program while he waited for it to end. As his ring rang, he picked up his iPhone 15 Pro Max, and this ID caller was Amy Rose. Sonic put the phone to his ear.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hi, Sonic!" chirped Amy.

"Eh, hey, Amy," he replied awkwardly. There was a pause. "What's up?" he asked.

"Nothing much. I just wanted to see how you are doing," said Amy.

"Oh, I'm doing fine, Amy. Just watching TV," said Sonic.

"Oh, okay. Well, I was wondering if you want to hang out with me today," said Amy.

'Do I really have to do this? What if I say no? If I don't hang out with her, she will get depressed,' he thought to himself.

"Uh, yeah, sure! I'm kinda bored watching TV. So where to?" he asked.

"To the amusement park!" exclaimed Amy happily. Sonic raised his eyebrow. He knew she loved roller coasters and rides, but he never expected her to ask him to join her on one. Sonic didn’t mind though, he enjoyed hanging out with her. Besides, what fun does it be watching movies on TV every day?

"Yeah, sounds good," said Sonic.

"Great! I'll see you at 11 AM," said Amy.

"Okay. Bye, Amy," he hung up as he laid his head back and groaned in frustration. "Oh, why do I have to hang out with her?" He sighed and got up from the couch. Sonic looked out the window at the view of the city below him. "Maybe it would be better to hang out with someone else instead..." he muttered.

Sonic thought, "If Shadow were here, he would hang out with me.".

He headed upstairs to freshen up, he took a shower, brushed his teeth, combed his quills, and put on a pair of white gloves and a pair of red and white sneakers. He locked the door and ran to the destination to the amusement park. As he arrived at the amusement park, he saw Amy in a beautiful red dress featuring a white sheer bodice panel with a red polka dot design, front ribbon lace-up accents, and ruffled white lace trim. Thick shoulder straps with ruffled trim along with the removable bow on the back. A white trim on the hem of the skirt. She even wore a red rose headband, and she wore red boots with bowknot dangling with pearls.

Amy saw Sonic and waved at him, "Hi, Sonic!" she called.

'Why is she wearing like that?' he asked in thought.

"Hey, Amy," he waved at her.

Amy smiled and ran towards him. They met up near the entrance of the park. "So, ready for our first date?" she asked.

Sonic grinned and chuckled lightly. "Yeah, I guess. Let's go." They walked together in silence till they reached the entrance of the park. They stopped at the gate and Amy ordered two tickets for Sonic and herself. They entered the park. Sonic looked around and he noticed all sorts of rides. Some had attractions for kids, while others had games and food stands. Sonic asked Amy if she wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel. Amy nodded and took his hand as they walked to the Ferris Wheel. Sonic and Amy climbed the stairs and began riding the Ferris Wheel to see the beautiful view of the city of San Francisco, surrounded by skyscrapers, buildings, roads, and bridges, and the ocean far far away from them. Sonic looked at Amy and admired how happy she seemed. Sonic smiled at her happiness, it made him feel happy too. After they went down on the Ferris wheel, Amy said they wanted to ride some more. Sonic hesitated but agreed.

They rode a few rides, both enjoying each other's company, but mostly they enjoyed looking at the sights around the park. Eventually, they decided to sit down for a rest on the bench and look at everything. Amy sat beside him and grabbed his arm. Sonic looked down at her, and he saw that she was holding his hand. Amy smiled at him and she was about to kiss him, but she heard Sonic's stomach growling. Sonic blushed in embarrassment and looked at the ground.

"We should eat something before we go back to the park," she giggled.

"Y-yeah," Sonic laughed nervously.

They went to the food court nearby, Sonic ordered a chili dog and a Pepsi, and Amy ordered a patty melt with Pepsi. The cooker prepared their orders and gave them food as Amy paid him. They headed to the table and ate their food. After they finished their lunch, Sonic looked around and saw a game booth selling games and stuff.

"Let's play some games," suggested Amy.

Sonic nodded and they headed towards the arcades. It was crowded with people playing games of all kinds. Races were being held, shooting was being done, darts were being thrown, and laser guns were being fired. His attention was drawn to the games he liked best. As he explored the booths, he selected four games: one shooter, a racing game, a shooting game, and an air hockey game.

"Which games do you want to play?" asked Amy.

"I'll do the racing car," said Sonic.

Amy nodded, "Okay!"

Sonic put the token inside the slot and began racing the game. Sonic won all his races and won one more game. Amy cheered him on. When he finished racing all of his racing games, Sonic glanced at the screen in front of him. He gasped as he saw who won most of his racing games. Sonic was in first place! Sonic was so shocked that he forgot to take his token and win another race. Amy came over to console him.

"Wow! You're very good! I didn't know that you could beat me in everything! That's amazing!" said Amy.

He shrugged in a proud manner, "Well, duh, I'm the best at racing," he said with a smile on his face.

Amy giggled and placed her hand on top of his, "Well, I must admit, you're the best at racing. Maybe you should become champion of racing instead of just being a hero," she giggled again.

"Nah, I'd rather be a hero than just be a hero, ya know?" said Sonic.

"Sure thing. But still, you're awesome, Sonic," Amy smiled.

"Thanks," Sonic replied. He glanced at his watch and noticed that it was already 6 p.m. it was getting late.

"Hey, Amy. Do you wanna go home now?" asked Sonic. Amy looked at the time on her iPhone and it was pretty late.

"You're right, it's getting late. Let's walk home together," said Amy.

Both of them stood up and began walking together. They walked to the street that they lived on, which was only a couple blocks away. As they arrived at Amy's house, they walked to the doorstep. They turned around and faced each other. Amy stood on her toes and kissed Sonic on the cheek.

"That was so nice. Have a great night!" she said, smiling.

"You too. See you tomorrow," he replied.

"See ya, Sonic," she replied as she closed the door. Sonic turned around and headed for his own house. He started running behind with a blue streak through the traffic light. As he arrived home, he unlocked the door to enter his home, shut the door, and locked it. He then leaned his head back to the door and sighed heavily.

"Ugh, that was awkward. Why did I agree to it? Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it now. At least I killed boredom," he grumbled and walked upstairs to the bathroom to take a shower and brush his teeth. He went to his bedroom and flopped down on his bed exhausted. He sighed as he turned off the lights and curled himself into a ball. He shed tears and hugged his pillow tight. He wanted Shadow so badly. His eyes stung with tears and he felt hot tears streaming down his face. He buried his face deeper into the pillow and sobbed. He wished he could go to sleep, but he couldn't because he kept remembering the kiss. He missed Shadow so much. He wanted to see him so bad. He just wanted to spend time with him. Sonic continued crying himself to sleep.

'Shadow... I wish you were here...' Sonic thought sadly.

Chapter 21: The Tragic Love Story of Sonic and Shadow

Amy's eyes stirred as she came out of her unconsciousness, she moaned a little and felt her body ache in pain. She slowly opened her eyes, placed her hand on her head, and looked around the room. She was on the bed with a blue sheet. And the wall and slate floor were fairly white. A white nightstand with LED blue light trim stood beside her bed with a flower pot. And a large window was showing outside the space. The red and yellow robots were in the room and they were surprised to see her awake.

"Hey, sleepyhead," said Orbot.

"Where am I? What happened?" asked Amy.

"You fainted. You must've been in really bad shock when you passed out," answered Cubot.

"I have? I remember... Sonic and Shadow were... No, why? They're both men," said Amy, rubbing her head.

"Well, we are still trying to figure that part out. I thought they hated each other," said Orbot.

"And I thought they were fighting in this room..." said Cubot.

"I saw Sonic... My Sonic was making love with... Shadow...?" Amy's eyes tear up slightly. "How long was I out?"

"Uh, about 6 hours," answered Orbot.

"6 hours long?!" exclaimed Amy. "Why didn't anyone wake me up?" She cried.

"Calm down. Everything's fine now. Sonic and Shadow took care of it. However," Cubot frowned. "Shadow didn't make it."

After hearing the news that Shadow had passed away, Amy was saddened by the news.

“But look on the bright side, the Earth is safe and sound,” said Cubot.

"And Sonic?" she asked worriedly.

"Sonic's fine, he just needs some rest. And he said he needed some time alone," said Orbot.

Amy frowned as she stared at her hands gripping the sheet, and then she sighed and lay back on the bed, feeling exhausted. "I see," said Amy.

"Well, uh, we'll get you anything you need," said Orbot. Then he turned to his partner and said, "Come on, let's go find something for her." Cubot nodded and followed behind him. They left the room they were going to get her something while Amy closed her eyes.

-Meanwhile-

Sonic was staring at a large window outside the space filled with stars in all different colors. He sighed as he sat on a bed near the window. His arms hung lazily by his sides as he rested his elbows on his lap. Sonic was in a very depressive mode after everything went terribly wrong in his last battle with Shadow against The FInal Hazard. Shadow had lost so much energy and he couldn't save him from falling to his death. The memories flooded his mind when he met Shadow.

*Flashback*

"Who are you, and why do you look like me?!" demanded Sonic.

"My name is Shadow. And I'm the world's Ultimate Lifetime," said Shadow.

*Timeskip to Green Forest*

"Hey, that's..." Sonic trailed.

"A blue hedgehog again around here all places," Shadow crossed his arms over his chest.

"I found you, faker!" growled Sonic, pointing at the ebony hedgehog.

"Faker? I think you’re a fake hedgehog around here, and you’re comparing yourself to me? Hah! You're not even good enough to be my fake!" yelled Shadow.

*Timeskip after the fight*

Shadow kissed Sonic on the lips passionately, and Sonic went numb as he froze like a statue as he stared at Shadow.

*Timeskip at the Space Colony ARK*

"Shadow, for what you did was wrong, they didn't do anything to you!" Sonic yelled.

Shadow punched Sonic in the face to get off of him, and he fell to the ground.

"You never understand! They killed Maria in front of me!" argued Shadow.

"M... Maria...?" stuttered Sonic quietly.

"Yes, Maria. Her name is Maria. You knew that." Shadow answered coldly.

*Timeskip in argument*

"Why the hell should I trust you?!" Shadow shouted angrily, wrenching his arm free from Sonic's grasp.

"Because you promised! What about the promise made to Maria and her wish?! Don't you want to fulfill it!? Do you, Shadow?!" yelled Sonic.

Shadow growled angrily, baring his fangs as he glared at Sonic, and threw himself at the blue speedster.

"Don't you dare say her name!" roared Shadow. "I don't need to hear your voice saying her name again! I told you that I wasn't interested in stupid friendship! But you wouldn't listen!"

Sonic reacted with his emotional pain, and Shadow continued.

"I just... I just can't stand it anymore. All these years the one thing I wanted was to protect her, I wanted her to live! She pushed me to the pod, locked in. I was trying to save her, but I failed! I couldn't save her! I couldn't fucking save her! All because I couldn't even save her, then she was murdered! I was so helpless that day....and yet she still wanted me to promise to protect humanity..." Shadow shed those tears from his eyes, and Sonic's eyes welled up the tears.

"Even if I could have saved her, I couldn't have prevented her death! And now I have to live with the fact that it was because of me that she died!" Shadow gritted his teeth, his tears flowed freely down Sonic's face.

"I... I couldn't save her and now she's gone. She's gone, she's gone! Oh, God..." Shadow sobbed.

Sonic stood up and hugged Shadow, the ebony hedgehog clinging onto him desperately, burying his face in his shoulder. Sonic rubbed his back, whispering words of comfort.

‘I’m sorry, Shadow,’ Sonic thought

*End Flashback*

Sonic looked at the ceiling, sighed deeply, and laid his head back down, and closed his eyes.

‘But I hope she has found peace and happiness. And she would have wanted you to be happy too… It was because she loved you.’ Sonic thought.

“So much has changed since Maria and Shadow had been gone…” he whispered.

A gentle knock on the door was heard. Sonic got up.

“Who is it?” called Sonic.

In the blink of an eye, the door opened and the white bat entered the room.

“It’s me, Rouge.” she smiled sweetly.

“Oh, Rouge,” Sonic was surprised to see her.

“Can I come in?” she asked.

“Oh, uh, sure,” said Sonic.

She walked across to the bed and sat down on the edge. She gently put her hand on top of Sonic’s hand, caressing it gently. Sonic blushed a bit, and moved closer to Rouge, leaning into her touch, which made her blush a bit too.

“So… How’ve you been holding up?” asked Rouge softly, her heart swelling with love as she gazed into the emerald eyes that she loved more than her own life.

“I’m okay, I guess. After being with Shadow again, I felt so alone without him, and I missed him so badly,” said Sonic.

“Oh… I’m sorry to hear that,” Rouge said. “He sounded like he really cared for you. He must’ve meant a lot to you.”

“Yeah, he did,” said Sonic. “We were enemies at first, but now we became lovers,” said Sonic, looking down to his feet.

Rouge blinked once in surprise. She thought that Sonic hated Shadow … But apparently, he still loved him as his lover?

“Sonic, I thought you two were enemies. How did you meet Shadow?” asked Rouge.

“I don’t know where to begin, but I’ll tell you a whole story,” said Sonic with a small smile. “Long story short…” he started.

He told her the whole story about G.U.N. being mistakenly Sonic for stealing Choas Emerald because of the accusation and then how he met Shadow in the city where he possessed a Chaos Emerald. He told her about how Shadow used Chaos Emerald to teleport that he was fighting with. He knew he was tough, but it amazed him how strong Shadow was. He talked about the past few times they were apart. He told her how they met, how they fought each other, how their relationship progressed. He told her everything about Shadow. About his feelings towards him, how he fell in love with him; even how he lost him.

“Wow. So you loved him?” asked Rouge.

“Yeah,” said Sonic nodding his head. “And when we fought each other in the jungle, Shadow was shown impressed by my fighting skills. I was confused at first and he walked to me, grabbed me, and kissed me,” said Sonic.

Rouge blinked in surprise, “Shadow kissed you?”

“Yes,” said Sonic.

“I can see why he did that,” chuckled Rouge. “What was it like?” she asked.

“Huh?” puzzled Sonic.

“How did you feel? Did you enjoy it?” asked Rouge.

Sonic scratched the back of his head, “Well… it’s not like I didn’t like the kiss. I didn’t know what his intention was, but I enjoyed it too,” admitted Sonic, blushing. “I believe it was my first kiss.”

“Really?” asked Rouge, her teal eyes widened slightly.

“Yeah,” replied Sonic.

“You’re not lying to me, are you?” she asked, raising her eyebrow.

“No, I’m not lying, Rouge. The kiss happened in the forest. I thought he was going to kill me, but instead, he gave me a kiss. And then he left before the island blew up. That was the last time I saw or talked to him until today,” explained Sonic.

“Wow! That’s an amazing story!” exclaimed Rouge.

“Yeah, it was pretty great,” said Sonic shyly.

“Did you ever ask him why he kissed you?” asked Rouge.

“That’s what I figured out why he kissed me, he said he had no interest in killing me,” said Sonic.

“Hmm… maybe he’s actually a good person after all?” giggled Rouge.

“Probably,” laughed Sonic.

After a moment of silence, Rouge spoke up.

“Hey, Sonic? Are you gonna stay here tonight? I know you’re probably tired after being with Shadow.”

“Yeah. I need to get some sleep and be ready to return to Earth,” said Sonic.

“Okay… Then I’ll let you get some rest,” Rouge got up from the bed and headed for the door.

“Rouge, wait,” Sonic called, causing the white bat to stop and turn around to look at him.

“Yes?” she asked.

Sonic hugged her tightly around the waist, “Thank you, for everything, Rouge. You have helped me heal,” said Sonic smiling.

“You’re welcome Sonic,” smiled Rouge. Sonic released her from his hug and smiled back at her.

“Goodnight,” Rouge said.

“Goodnight,” replied Sonic as he watched her exit the room and closed the door behind her. Sonic sighed as he got in the bed. He took Shadow’s ring from the nightstand, held it in his hand, and stared at it, thinking about how much he had loved him, how much he wished he could change things, that he could go back in time and save Shadow. Sonic closed his eyes and drifted off into slumber, holding the ring in his hand.

‘Sayonara, my beloved Shadow,’ Sonic thought in his sleep.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 20: Shadow’s Sacrifice

Outside the space, Super Sonic and Super Shadow were facing Biolizard, now The Final Hazard. It was going to be an epic battle. The Ultimate Lifeform and his counterpart were ready to battle against the prototype for their final showdown.

A communicator buzzed in. “Sonic, Shadow, can you hear me?” It was Tails’ voice. "Everyone is here rooting for you. Good luck!"

Sonic and Shadow began to fight the monster together. They worked as a team, taking out Final Hazard from all angles. “Let’s see what this new form does,” Sonic said. He sent out a barrage of energy blasts at Final Hazard as it roared painfully. The monster opened its mouth to fire a laser at Sonic, but he dodged with ease.

“I don’t like this, but we need to end this quickly before the damage gets too critical," said Sonic.

The two hedgehogs attacked simultaneously, blasting Final Hazard into a massive blast of yellow light. A large explosion rocked the area, knocking them back, but the light eventually subsided.

"Sonic, Shadow, can you hear me? He's very weak without his life support system. Aim for the red swelling areas to damage him! You're our last hope!" said Eggman.

Sonic nodded, "Got it."

"Leave this to me," said Shadow as he dashed off to go after Final Hazard. He raised his hand to shoot another burst of energy at the creature. "Chaos Blast!!" He released a beam that exploded against Final Hazard. The monster roared in agony.

Shadow winced in pain. His energy blasts hadn't been much help on top of that, but he didn't let this show.

"You okay, Shadow?" asked Sonic.

"I'm fine. Just hit my limit, that's all. But this should be enough." said Shadow.

"Let's finish it up fast then," said Sonic. "It looks like he won't be able to survive that anymore. Finish it quickly and I'll take care of him."

"Okay," said Shadow.

"Sonic, Shadow!" It was Knuckles' voice in the communicator. "The colony is heading close to Earth in about 4 minutes! Hurry!"

"We haven't got much time left! You do the blast, and I'll do the homing attack," said Sonic.

Shadow nodded, and then they charged at the Final Hazard at full speed. Shadow shot his own blast toward the monster, aiming for a mass where a few tendrils had appeared. And Sonic curled himself into a ball and hit the red swellings on its back. He was able to cause some pain, Final Hazard roared painfully.

'Maria... watch me. I will fulfill your wish!' thought Shadow. "CHAOS SPEARS!!" he threw the yellow arrow-like spears at the monster’s back. They penetrated the monster and struck several organs, causing more suffering. Final Hazard roared painfully.

"That was great, Shadow!" cheered Sonic, giving him the thumbs up.

Shadow smiled and replied, "Thanks."

"You guys!" It was Rouge's voice as a communicator. "The colony is getting close to the planet in 1 minute! Please hurry!"

They flashed and appeared in front of the space colony and they held out their hands.

"No way that's getting through!" yelled Sonic.

A girl's voice was heard from Shadow's mind.

'Shadow... I beg of you.'

"Maria...?" whispered Shadow, confused. "Maria, is that you?"

‘Shadow... Give them a chance to be happy. Please take care of the village and protect everyone. Make sure that everyone survives…’ said Maria's voice.

Shadow closed his eyes and came back to the reality.

"Now, Shadow!!" yelled Sonic.

"CHAOS CONTROL!!" both yelled in unison.

The beam of white light engulfed Final Hazard, and it was completely destroyed. The colony ARK was above the Earth. Far, far above the Earth, and the planet was saved.

Inside the Space Colony, they were cheering and celebrating. They hugged each other and celebrated the victory, and they looked at all of the surviving residents. They were all so excited, and even though it had just happened, they felt like it was just yesterday. The moment they saw each other, they realized how much they missed one another.

“They did it!" exclaimed Tails.

*Outside the space*

Sonic laughed, "We did it, Shadow!"

No responded.

"Shadow?" He turned around to Shadow was exhausted and his breathing was shallow. Sonic flew to Shadow to check on him and placed his palm on Shadow's face, making him open his eyes. "Shadow, what's wrong? You okay?" he asked softly.

"Sonic..." Shadow murmured. His super form was depleted back to his original form, and he slipped unconscious from falling to the Earth.

"Shadow!!" Sonic cried, flying down after him. He was trying to catch Shadow, but he was a meter away from him.

"Shadow, wake up!! Wake up, dammit!!" Sonic cried.

He was unresponsive as Sonic used his full speed to fly toward him trying to catch him. But when Sonic was close enough, he managed to grab one of his hands from the gravity.

'C'mon! Just a little more!' thought Sonic, trying to reach him.

One of the Inhibitor Rings flew out of Shadow's wrist and Sonic grabbed it. Shadow was far away from him and it was too late to save him.

'Maria... Is this enough...?' Shadow asked in thought. 'This is what you wanted... right? This is my promise I made to you...' He spoke his final words as he fell down to the planet and disappeared with a flash.

Sonic stood there in outer space, hanging his head down, defeated. 'Why couldn't I save him?! Why am I such an awful friend..!?' he cried in thought, gripping his ring tightly in his hand.

Sonic screamed at the top of his lungs in despair, and then he cried uncontrollably. He was gone. His lover was gone, and now Sonic had to deal with being all alone. It was his first love since he met him in the city when the G.U.N. mistook Sonic for stealing Chaos Emerald from the museum. Now that Shadow was gone, Sonic was alone again. Sonic felt lonely, abandoned, hurt... And he hated it. He hated his fate and he hated everything about it. After a while, Sonic collected himself and flew back to the ARK.

Chapter 19: Showdown! Biolizard Unleashed!

Orbot and Cubot were walking through the corridor of the ARK, hoping Sonic was talking to Shadow to help save the Earth. Orbot didn’t mind waiting as long as it wasn’t boring him. He wasn’t used to being around others for such a long time and he had to admit that when it was just him and Cubot, it was nice not to think about things all the time.

"Man, I hope Shadow helps Sonic out with this battle," Cubot said, rubbing the back of his head.

"And we haven't seen any other Mobians for so long." Orbot nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, but I'm sure Shadow will come up with something. Maybe he has some plans in mind or something." Cubot shook his head.

"No way, Shadow's always been super good at developing strategies on the spot. And even if it takes a little longer he'll probably make one for us later," said Orbot.

"Yeah, you're probably right," said Cubot.

Orbot heard a strange noise coming from the door behind them, so he stopped to listen. It sounded like someone was making weird noises in there.

"What's that noise?" asked Orbot quietly, he opened the door a little to take a peek. He could see two hedgehogs moving on the floor. The dark hedgehog was on top of the cobalt hedgehog, pumping into him and they were kissing.

Orbot quickly shut the door and turned away, his face bright red. "Oh, God!" he cried.

"What? What's wrong?" asked Cubot, confused.

"Th-they're ... they're doing something!" Orbot sputtered. "They're making out!"

"What?!" Cubot yelled, his eyes bugging out of his face.

"What are they even doing, for making out like that? Didn't I tell Sonic to ask Shadow for help and save the Earth before it crashes?!" Orbot continued rambling, still embarrassed by what he'd seen. He couldn't believe they would do such a thing while they were on the ARK!

"Sh-shouldn't we do something?" asked Cubot nervously, looking around the hallway nervously.

"I-I don't know..." muttered Orbot, still too embarrassed to say anything else. He knew they were on board an experimental spaceship, which was supposed to be completely empty except for him and Cubot, but that didn't mean he felt comfortable letting anyone else know where they were.

"What's going on here?" asked the girl's voice coming from behind them

The robots yelped as they turned around to see the sakura hedgehog, it was Amy.

"What's going on?" she repeated.

" Oh, Amy. Uh, nothing. We, uh, we were just... um...." stammered Cubot.

Amy put her hands on her hip and raised an eyebrow. She walked slowly over to them and leaned closer to them until they were nose to nose. "You guys looked very suspicious here. Where's Sonic?" asked Amy.

"Sonic? Oh, he's, uh, talking to Shadow to try to help out," answered Orbot nervously.

"Yeah, they'll be out in a minute," added Cubot.

A moan noise came from the door behind them as the robots jumped and her ears suddenly perked up.

"What the hell?" she asked quietly. Before she reached for the handle, two robots blocked her way.

"Whoa, whoa, wait! You can't go in there," warned Orbot.

"Why not?" asked Amy, annoyed.

"Cuz they, uh, they're having a nice conversation," said Cubot. Orbot nodded.

"What kind of conversation are they having?!" she asked angrily. "I hear a strange noise behind that freaking door!"

The moaning was getting louder, making the robots feel uneasy.

"Well, uh, they need privacy," said Cubot nervously.

Amy furrowed her eyebrows in anger and pulled out her hammer. They stared at her in shock for a few seconds, then backed away.

Amy glared at them. "You're hiding something! You'd better explain what the hell's going on in there. If you don't move, I'll whack you with my hammer!" she threatened.

Orbot raised his hands trying to reassure her, "Uh, ma'am, please calm down," he pleaded.

"I'm going count to 3," said Amy in a firm voice. "One-" She took a step forward, ready to start swinging the hammer.

The two robots started whimpering in fear and started shaking their bodies rapidly and they hugged in fear.

"Two.."

'This is the end,' thought Orbot and Cubot in unison.

"Three!" Amy screamed as she slammed her down, the robots screamed and moved out of the way to avoid the hammer, causing it to break the door down. The two hedgehogs jolted and stopped making out, staring at the smashed door as it fell apart.

"What the hell?!" Sonic exclaimed, surprised.

Amy was shocked and covered her mouth by what she had seen. The two hedgehogs were on the floor together, both of their dicks were exposed as they covered them. They didn't seem to notice the hammer lying on the floor next to them. Their faces were flushed with embarrassment.

She was so flustered she couldn't speak. She only stood there with her eyes wide open like a deer caught in headlights, unable to comprehend what she had seen.

"Amy..." whispered Sonic.

"S-Sonic...?" whimpered Amy, her eyes rolled back to her head, her body started trembling, and she fell over unconscious while two robots caught her before she hit the floor.

“Hey, what’s going on here? Why is— Oh, my God!” cried Tails, covering his eyes.

“Tails!” exclaimed Sonic. “It was a misunderstanding! We weren’t doing anything! I swear!”

‘We really shouldn’t have come here after all,’ sighed Orbot in thought.

Knuckles and Rouge came here and they were shocked to see the scene. Knuckles’ eyes widened and his jaw hung open, and Rouge’s eyes widened, her face was red, and covered her mouth with both hands.

“Oh, my God!” gasped Rouge.

Sonic covered his face in shame, 'I am so busted.' thought Sonic.

And Eggman came to the room and saw this sickening scene. His eyes bulged and his mouth dropped open.

“What the—?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO DOING?! Do you have any idea you’ve wasted your time by saving the Earth, and now you’re making out?!” screamed Eggman furiously.

Sonic blushed shamefully and averted his gaze from Eggman. And Shadow looked away from them shamefully.

Sonic knew that Eggman knew that they hadn’t done anything wrong, but still, they should be ashamed of themselves.

“I… I can explain,” mumbled Sonic.

“Explain what?” demanded Eggman angrily.

“Erm, well, I—” Sonic began. “Shadow and I were fighting in the jungle, and… Shadow kissed me…”

“What?!” shocked Eggman, he couldn’t believe what he had heard, and then he turned to Shadow. “You kissed him?”

Shadow hesitated, but he nodded at his question. Eggman threw his hands exasperatedly in the air, “And why did you kiss him?! That’s not how you kiss your enemy!” he yelled.

Shadow’s ears flattened against his head. “I…” Shadow trailed off.

“Oh, I don’t wanna hear it! You two, get your filthy butts and go to the goddamn core right now!” shouted Eggman, pointing at the door, and the two hedgehogs got up and marched out of the room without saying another word. As soon as they left the room, Knuckles stepped in and asked Eggman.

“Uh, can I—“

“Yes! Go!” Eggman snapped at him.

Knuckles startled and left the room to find the core. Eggman placed his hand on his face and breathed deeply as he tried to think of some way to fix this problem, but he knew there was no chance.

“What the hell am I going about these two hedgehogs?” he muttered to himself.

*Meanwhile*

Sonic, Shadow, and Knuckles were heading to the base of the core and found a huge room, this room looked exactly like a Chinese shrine. It was filled with large pillars, and various statues, along with different kinds of flowers, trees, and birds.

There were a few small paths around the room leading to more rooms and stairs leading to more areas, most likely leading to further parts of the place. All these buildings reminded Sonic of a temple, or maybe an ancient civilization.

“This is it!" yelled Knuckles excitedly. “This is the Core. Alright, I’m going to plant this Emerald on that base, and it’ll be all over.”

The ARK began to shake violently, causing them to stumble and lose their balance, Shadow caught Sonic before he hit the floor, and leaned on his strong chest. Knuckles hang on to it. Once again, they regained their balance and it stopped shaking. They paused for a moment, looking around before Sonic pushed Shadow away gently.

“I think she’s holding,” whispered Knuckles.

Just then the light flashed, and they covered their eyes without getting blind. When the light died down, they saw an enormous lizard monster with pipes on its back. It roared and the room shook once more, knocking down some of the pillars and statues. They were about to jump away, but it knocked over one of the pillars, which caused it to fall above their heads. Shadow grabbed Sonic in a bridal style and skated away while Knuckles dodged it.

“Shadow, what’re you doing?! Put me down!” protested Sonic, struggling in the ebony hedgehog’s arms.

“No! I will not let my partner die before we defeat this damn lizard!” insisted Shadow firmly.

Sonic hitched a breath, his cheeks turning pink. He could feel a warm feeling spreading through his body and he stared at him with wide eyes. It was then that he realized that he liked being held like that by Shadow.

‘Not like a friend,’ Sonic thought. ‘A lover.’

They regrouped near one of the walls, where they watched the lizard roar and attack the pillar they were standing under with its sharp claws. It hit the pillar hard enough to break it and they started running again.

"What the hell is that thing?" asked Sonic.

"It's a Biolizard," answered Shadow.

"Could this be The Prototype of the Ultimate Lifeform that was supposed to be encapsulated?" asked Knuckles, incredulously.

"Yes," he replied. "This thing is far more powerful than any other life form that's ever existed."

"Why is it attacking us?" wondered Sonic.

"Probably because it knows we're here," replied Knuckles. "So it wants to destroy us. It's probably trying to destroy everything on this world including Earth itself."

Knuckles was right. This beast wanted to destroy all of the plants, and all living things on Earth, and then consume them. It was going to eat them whole until there was nothing but ash left behind. It was going to take Earth from its natural environment, but it wouldn't stop until it finished eating its way across the planet.

"We need to destroy that beast fast!" said Sonic.

"Leave this Biolizard to me. I'll take care of it," said Shadow.

"Shadow..." murmured Sonic.

"No time to argue. You two go ahead and do your thing. I'll hold that creature's attention," instructed Shadow.

"Okay, you be careful. Let's go, Knuckles."

They continued to run towards the center of the base. As they approached the central chamber, they made it up to the top. Sonic looked at Shadow as he fought the Biolizard, and he was amazed at how well the Shadow fought. He never expected him to be that good, he wasn't even that skilled when he fought the others.

Suddenly, the Biolizard charged at Shadow, who evaded it by rolling on the floor, but just then a blast of energy shot towards him. Shadow dodged again and looked at the Biolizard to make sure it was distracted by something else before jumping into the air and flying above the creature, punching its back with his fist. As the creature turned around and fired at him, Shadow jumped again and landed close to it, kicking its stomach, sending the creature flying back and falling onto the ground.

"CHAOS SPEARS!!" Shadow yelled as he shot the powerful spears at the monster lizard.

The lasers hit it and it roared in pain and the lasers kept hitting it. After a while, the Biolizard was able to shoot lasers back, an energy beam coming out of its mouth, and fired Shadow. He managed to dodge the attack and jumped over the Biolizard, punching its stomach once more before it fired another laser. Shadow dodged again and took a few steps backward.

Knuckles placed the Master Emerald to the center of the Core and activated it. A blinding green light shone throughout the room, illuminating the room like daylight, and giving it a very pleasant feeling. Soon after, a loud ringing noise filled the room.

"It's working!" cried Knuckles ecstatically.

"Do your thing, Knux!" said Sonic.

Knuckles closed his eyes, raised his hands in the air, and started his chanting.

"O Great Chaos, creator of all Creation,

Let thy power shine forth,

Release thy power, reveal thy form…"

As soon as Knuckles’s voice faded out, the Master Emerald began to shine brighter. The glowing green energy grew stronger, and the ground beneath their feet trembled slightly. Suddenly, a massive wave of energy burst out from the Emerald, and the Biolizard was engulfed in the light, roared in pain, and it completely vanished.

The energy died down, and Shadow lowered his arms, breathing heavily. After a couple of minutes passed, Sonic spoke up, "Are you okay, Shadow?"

"Yeah," he replied.

Sonic smiled and kissed Shadow lightly on the lips. Shadow’s cheeks were flushed bright red, and he couldn’t help but smile as he kissed Sonic back.

"Oh, here we again," sighed Knuckles, rolling his eyes.

The ARK began to shake violently again, making it hard for the two hedgehogs to keep standing straight.

"What now!?" complained Sonic.

A walkie-talkie buzzed in, it was Eggman. "The prototype is still alive!"

"WHAT?!" The three were shocked in unison.

"He's controlling the Space Colony as it's falling toward the Earth! He's become one with the Space Colony and is determined to keep it on its collision course!" shouted Eggman over the speaker.

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" exclaimed Shadow angrily.

"I'm afraid so, Shadow," replied Eggman calmly.

"Dammit...!" snarled Shadow.

"Calm down, Shadz. We're going to rescue it," said Sonic reassuringly.

Knuckles came up with an idea, "Hey, remember when you fought Chao with your Super form?" he asked.

Sonic turned to Knuckles, surprised, "Yeah, I remember. We can use Chaos Emeralds to become Super form, we can beat that thing." Sonic turned to Shadow. "How about you, Shadow?"

"Well, I guess I'll give it a try," said Shadow.

Just then the two hedgehogs stood up, and the seven Chaos Emeralds encircled them. They closed their eyes calmly, feeling the energies flowing through their bodies. The emerald light grew brighter, until finally, everything became golden yellow light. Knuckles covered his eyes to avoid becoming blind.

Sonic's body was glowing golden yellow, his quills upward, his eyes were green to red. Shadow's body was glowing yellow yet it was paler. The two super hedgehogs stared at each other and smiled. Then they vanished and flew out of the colony. They were now in space, facing that Biolzard.

"Get ready, you overgrown lizard! We're taking you out!" said Sonic.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 18: Shadow's Pain, Sonic's Comforting

The team separated in the ARK to find different ways of stopping the energy before it impacted the Earth. Amy was left behind and told to play Bejeweled Blitz on the computer with a disappointed and bored look on her face. She wanted to help them and be useful, but Eggman forced her to play computer games because she had no power or battle tactics. 

‘Man, this isn’t fair. Why can’t I help and join the team? I felt like I did nothing!’ Amy groaned as she laid her down on the computer desk, ‘Why do they have to keep me out when they need me most?’

*ARK Base*

Tails opened the panels to reveal the wires inside. He started his analysis of all the circuits in front of him while looking for anything that could stop the blast. Rouge watched in awe of his genius mind.

“Wow, Tails, you are really good at this…” said Rouge in an impressed tone as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“Thanks! This is just what I always dreamed of doing… I wonder how Sonic would react if he knew how much I had to learn from him to get to this point.” He thought for a moment as his mind went back to the days when they were kids and they played together. Tails carefully cut the wire, his hands steady and precise. The room held its breath as everyone watched, hoping that this would be the solution they needed. As the wire was severed, a surge of electricity sparked and crackled, causing the lights to flicker momentarily.

Suddenly, a low hum resonated throughout the base, signaling that something had changed. Tails cautiously glanced at the control panel, his eyes widening in disbelief. The countdown had stopped. The imminent threat of destruction had been averted. Tails breathed a sigh of relief and Rouge patted his shoulder.

“Well done, Tails! You saved the day!” Rouge exclaimed, giving Tails a huge smile.

“Thank you, Rouge! It really means a lot to me! But we have to look for Sonic and the others now,” he said quickly as he jumped to his feet and walked towards the door. “Right behind you!” Rouge replied with a nod before following him out the door.

*At the Security System*

Eggman was cutting the circuit wires to turn off the energy, which worked perfectly. Now all the danger from that explosion would be nullified and the planet wouldn't suffer any damage from the force. “Perfect! Everything should work fine now,” he said triumphantly, “Just one more thing to add to my list of inventions to improve upon!” 

He communicated Tails with a walkie-talkie to let him know the plan was working. 

“Tails, everything’s working. How does it go?” he asked. A few seconds later Tails’ voice came through, “Everything’s good. We’re still trying to locate the others. We’ll try to communicate again in a bit.”

 After hearing that, Eggman frowned slightly; he hoped Tails had found Sonic before the energy ran out. “Roger. I’ll be counting on you,” he replied as he began to communicate with Rouge, “Alright, Rouge, once I've finished, you'll have to go to the core and drain the liquid energy for Sonic and Knuckles so they can proceed.”

“Roger,” she answered before turning to leave the room. Eggman turned towards the main computer, where he had already placed the new data. “There we go. All ready to go to work! And I hope to see your face soon enough,” said Eggman.

*At the Core System*

As Rouge hurried towards the Core System, her footsteps echoed through the dimly lit corridor. The air was heavy with anticipation as she approached her destination. The Core System, the heart of Dr. Eggman's operation, was a massive, pulsating chamber filled with intricate machinery and glowing energy conduits.

As she entered the Core System, the sound of humming machinery surrounded her. The room was bathed in an eerie blue glow, casting elongated shadows on the walls. Rouge's eyes darted around, searching for any signs of buttons and switches.

She spotted two transparent containment chambers at the center of the chamber. Inside each, she found the control panels, buttons, and switches. Determination surged within Rouge as she moved closer to the chambers.

With her gloved hand, Rouge reached out to a control panel nearby. She examined the complex interface, analyzing the intricate codes and symbols. She knew she had to drain the liquid energy from the chambers, allowing Sonic and Knuckles to enter the ARK base.

Her fingers danced across the buttons and switches, her movements precise and deliberate. As the liquid energy started to drain out from the chambers, Rouge watched as Sonic and Knuckles began to proceed to the base.

"Nice work, Rouge," complimented Sonic.

"Thanks. Now go ahead and find your way, we're going to need their energy to shut down the system," said Rouge.

Sonic nodded, "Copy that." Sonic turned to Knuckles, "Let's go." Knuckles nodded.

*At the Fuse System*

Sonic and Knuckles had arrived at the Fuse System

Sonic and Knuckles stood in awe as they entered the Fuse System, a massive chamber filled with intricate machinery and pulsating energy. The room hummed with power, and the air crackled with anticipation. The duo knew that this was a crucial moment in their mission to shut down the ARK base.

As they approached the central control console, Sonic couldn't help but crack a confident smile. "Alright, Knuckles, let's do this!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with determination.

Knuckles nodded, his fists clenched tightly. "No problem, Sonic. We've faced tougher challenges than this before," he replied, his voice resonating with unwavering resolve.

Together, they assessed the control console, its array of buttons, levers, and switches stretching out before them. The console emitted a soft glow, guiding their eyes to the areas that needed their attention.

Sonic's nimble fingers flew across the buttons, intuitively deciphering the intricate sequence required to shut down the Fuse System. Knuckles, with his immense strength, positioned himself strategically, ready to pull any necessary levers or switches with precision.

As they worked in perfect sync, the Fuse System began to respond. Sparks erupted from the machinery, and the room trembled with the impending release of power. Sonic and Knuckles remained focused, undeterred by the intensity of the situation.

With each successful maneuver, the energy in the room shifted, gradually reducing the Fuse System's potency. Sonic's speed and Knuckles' brute force were a formidable combination, their teamwork proving to be their greatest asset.

As the final moments approached, the chamber seemed to hold its breath. The energy crackled and surged one last time before gradually subsiding. The once thunderous room now fell into an eerie silence, signifying the successful shutdown of the Fuse System.

Sonic and Knuckles exchanged triumphant looks, their smiles wide and contagious. "We did it!" Sonic exclaimed, his voice echoing through the chamber. "Now let's regroup with Rouge and ensure the ARK base is fully deactivated."

Together, they hurriedly made their way back to Rouge and others, the satisfaction of their accomplishment fueling their steps. The journey ahead may still be challenging, but with their combined skills and determination, Sonic, Knuckles, and Rouge were ready to face whatever lay ahead in their mission to save the day. 

*Meanwhile the Main Control Room*

"Looks like ARK is stable," said Orbot. 

"That's good," Cubot said. "But there seems to be a small problem. We haven't received word from them since they left the control room about five minutes ago."

"What small problem?" asked Orbot curiously. 

"The Energy Wave has taken its toll. There's very little power left in the core, and all the systems are shutting down. We have no choice but to destroy the core now," said Cubot.

"You're right, but we need Shadow to help us do that. Do you think he'll notice?" asked Orbot.

"I'm not sure. But even if he doesn't, the core will eventually self-destruct," Cubot replied.

Orbot nodded, a frown appearing on his face. Suddenly, a door opened to reveal Sonic, and the others entered the room. Cubot looked at them in surprise, wondering what they were up to. Sonic strode forward, his emerald eyes fixed on Orbot as he spoke.

"Hey, Orbot, how's it going?" asked Sonic.

"The ARK's is stable, but we don't have much power left. You have to help us get rid of this core before it self-destructs," Cubot replied.

"How are we going to do that?" Sonic asked.

Orbot gestured toward the core monitor screen, which showed the core's status: "The core is still powering down, but it isn't completely done yet," he explained. "We've only got about 19 minutes before it shuts down completely."

"Okay. What do we need to do to make sure that happens?" questioned Sonic.

"Well, we could try to remove the core," suggested Orbot.

Cubot nodded in agreement. "Yes. We need Shadow to help us out,” he said.

Sonic glanced over at Knuckles. His friend was staring at the screen with an intense look of concentration. "What do you think, Knux? Can you take care of the core and use the Emerald?"

Knuckles thought for a second and then replied, "Yeah, I think I can."

Amy entered the room with a scorned look on her face feeling useless for playing Bejeweled Blitz for a long hour. She hated being left behind.

"So, Amy, have you finished your game?" asked Eggman.

"Why do let me play this stupid game when I was trying to help? I could have been more useful than just sitting here and doing nothing! Besides, everyone else is supposed to be helping, too! Why am I only getting treated like this?!" complained Amy.

Eggman shrugged indifferently. "Because you're not an actual member of our organization, remember? It doesn't matter what you do outside of work." 

Amy growled.

"We have no time to waste. You have to get Shadow," said Orbot.

"Okay, I'll go talk to him," said Sonic.

"Are you sure, Sonic?" asked Tails.

"I'll go with you," said Amy.

"No, Amy. You stay here," said Sonic firmly.

"But--" 

"No, Ames. I've got this. You stay back with them, alright?" Sonic pleaded.

Amy frowned, but she reluctantly nodded. Sonic stepped out of the control room, leaving Amy alone with Orbot and others. He walked past the corridor leading away from the main chamber, heading deeper into the facility. He came to a halt and opened the door to see Shadow staring at the window with his crossed arms over his chest. Sonic entered the room and tried to talk to Shadow.

"Shadow,"  he called out.

Shadow didn't turn around, he could see the reflection of Sonic in the window. "Go away, Sonic," he muttered.

"Come on, bro. You know I won't leave you alone if you aren't talking to me," said Sonic.

Sonic walked toward Shadow, hoping that his counterpart would understand what he was about to say. He stopped a few feet away, unsure of how to begin. He took a deep breath and looked Shadow in the eyes, his expression serious. 

"I know you've had some disagreements in the past, but I need your help. I need you to believe me. Shadow, we're a team," Sonic said, his voice filled with concern. "We've been through too much together to let something like this tear us apart."

Shadow finally turned to face Sonic, his crimson eyes burning with a mix of anger and pain. "You don't understand, Sonic. You can't possibly comprehend the weight that I carry."

Sonic took a step closer, his emerald eyes reflecting his determination. "Then help me understand, Shadow. Talk to me. Tell me what's eating you."

Shadow clenched his fists, the tension in the room growing thicker. "I've spent my whole life fighting against the darkness within me. I've embraced my past, my pain, and turned it into strength. But lately, it feels like I'm losing that battle. I can feel the darkness creeping back, consuming me from within."

Sonic listened intently, his heart aching for his friend. "Shadow, you're not alone in this. We're here for you, every step of the way."

Sonic clenched his fists. "Tell me what happened during the invasion, Shadow. Wasn't there some kind of plan to end it all?"

Shadow closed his eyes, his head bowed, his brow furrowed. "It's none of your concern, hedgehog. And why bother do I have to help you? Just go and fix things by yourself."

Shadow walked past Sonic, bumped into his shoulder, and pushed past him as he headed toward the exit. But Sonic stopped him, reaching out and grabbing his wrist.

"Shadow… please," Sonic pleaded.

Shadow released Sonic's grasp, "Let go of me!"

As Sonic's grip tightened on Shadow's wrist, both hedgehogs locked eyes, their expressions filled with frustration and hurt. The room seemed to buzz with tension, their emotions palpable.

"Shadow, you can't just walk away," Sonic said, his voice tinged with desperation. "Please, we have to the best of help."

"Why the hell should I trust you?!" Shadow shouted angrily, wrenching his arm free from Sonic's grasp.

"Because you promised! What about the promise made to Maria and her wish?! Don't you want to fulfill it!? Do you, Shadow?!" yelled Sonic.

Shadow growled angrily, baring his fangs as he glared at Sonic, and threw himself at the blue speedster. 

"Don't you dare say her name!" roared Shadow. "I don't need to hear your voice saying her name again! I told you that I wasn't interested in stupid friendship! But you wouldn't listen!"

Sonic reacted with his emotional pain, and Shadow continued.

"I just...  I just can't stand it anymore. All these years the one thing I wanted was to protect her, I wanted her to live! She pushed me to the pod, locked in. I was trying to save her, but I failed! I couldn't save her! I couldn't fucking save her!  All because I couldn't even save her, then she was murdered! I was so helpless that day....and yet she still wanted me to promise to protect humanity..." Shadow shed those tears from his eyes, and Sonic's eyes welled up the tears.

"Even if  I could have saved her, I couldn't have prevented her death!  And now I have to live with the fact that it was because of me that she died!" Shadow gritted his teeth, his tears flowed freely down Sonic's face.

"I... I couldn't save her and now she's gone. She's gone, she's gone! Oh, God..." Shadow sobbed.

Sonic stood up and hugged Shadow, the ebony hedgehog clinging onto him desperately, burying his face in his shoulder. Sonic rubbed his back, whispering words of comfort.

"Shhh. I know, I know. It's alright, bro. I've got you. I'm right here. Nothing bad's gonna happen. I promise. Everything's gonna be fine," whispered Sonic, soothing Shadow to calm down.

'He had so much pain in his past. Maria lost her life because he was unable to protect her,' thought Sonic. 

Sonic hugged Shadow deeply while stroking his back, letting him know that he was there for him. Eventually, he felt Shadow relax slightly against him. After he calmed down, Shadow wiped his tears away with the backs of his hands.

"Better?" he asked.

"Yeah. Sorry for being riled up," apologized Shadow.

Sonic shook his head. "Don't be. It's okay to cry. Nobody blames you or thinks less of you for it. They know you're hurting inside. Just don't blame yourself."

Shadow gave him a slight nod. "Sonic?"

"Yeah?" he responded.

Shadow stared at him for a moment and Sonic wondered what was going on with him. 

"What?" asked Sonic innocently.

Shadow kissed Sonic on the lips, and Sonic's eyes widened. Then he closed his eyes and kissed him back passionately. Sonic's heart raced as he felt Shadow's lips against his own. He felt a warmth spread from his chest and knew that he had finally found the one he had been searching for. His hands moved to Shadow's waist and he deepened the kiss. His heart pounded as he explored Shadow's mouth, feeling the intensity of their connection and the love they shared. 

'He kissed me again. Just like back in the jungle,' thought Sonic.

Shadow pressed his lips to his and his hands explored his body eagerly. He felt a thrill of excitement as his strong fingers caressed his athletic body. He pulled him closer, deepening the kiss as he explored further. His touch ignited a passion within Sonic, and he felt a warmth coursing through his veins. He wanted him, and the intensity of his desire was almost overwhelming. Sonic wrapped his arms around his neck, responding eagerly to his touch.

Shadow laid the azure hedgehog down on the floor, and smiled down at him lovingly. He leaned down and gently kissed Sonic's neck, eliciting soft moans and gasps from the blue hedgehog. Shadow continued kissing along Sonic's neck, making his way lower until he reached his collarbone, raked his fangs across the sensitive skin beneath it, and then licked the spot. Sonic shuddered and let out a low moan, his hands gripping his shoulders tightly. Shadow felt a thrill of satisfaction course through him as Sonic leaned into the touch, and he continued his attentions, finding the spot that made Sonic squirm and moan with pleasure.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow Ch. 17 The Dark Truth about Gerald Robotnik

  Chapter 17: The Dark Truth About Gerald Robotnik

The red light was flashing and the alarm went off, a deafening sound in his ears as he covered his ears with both of his hands to block it out. 

"Auugh! What the hell's going on?! Why doesn't the cannon fire?!" yelled Eggman over the din.

He quickly tapped the keyboard on his computer, attempting to mute it, but it was useless. There wasn't even a single error in his calculations so why was this happening? Was it possible that someone had tampered with them? 

"Dammit! That can't be right! The readings are all perfect!" he said. He frantically tried to run through the calculations again, but it was useless. 

"What the hell happened?!" yelled Eggman, slamming his fist onto the desk.

"Boss! We've got trouble! The ARK is going to crash on Earth!" cried Cubot. 

"What?! How?" demanded Eggman.

"I don't know! It was a sort of accident. If we don't make it out alive, then we'll all die!" cried Cubot. 

"What should we do?" asked Orbot. 

"How the hell am I supposed to know?! Where's Shadow, and why didn't he handle the situation?!" snapped Eggman. 

The screen came on to static to show the image of his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, who was tied up with a chain and chair. The mathematics scribbled on the wall behind him were written in chalk.

"Wh-who's that?" asked Orbot.

"That's... That's my grandfather, Gerald Robotnik!" exclaimed Eggman in shock. 

*Meanwhile*

Sonic came into the Main Control Room and reunited with his friends, Tails and Amy were so happy that Sonic was alive and well after so long. He explained what had happened and how he survived the pod before the explosion as they listened to him.

"So you're telling me that you used Chaos Control to teleport and came back to the ARK?" asked Tails.

Sonic nodded as everyone looked at him in awe.

"I still can't believe you could do it," said Tails. "But I'm glad that you're okay."

Amy hugged Sonic, "Yeah, I'm so happy that you made it out!" Amy tried to kiss Sonic, but he dodged her and laughed before pulling away.

Sonic smiled. "Aw, c'mon, Ames. You're not exactly subtle."

Tails rolled his eyes before turning his attention, a clanking sound coming from the ceiling above them. Everyone stood up and prepared to defend themselves if something attacked them. But what they saw shocked them. A white-furred bat came down from the ceiling, and Knuckles recognized her.

"You?!" Knuckles said in shock. The bat grinned at him and Knuckles threw his arms in exasperated. "Oh, why haven't you given up already?!" Knuckles groaned.

Rogue closed her eyes and threw her hand in the air. "Oh, relax. I'm not here to fight you. It's all over for us."

Knuckles raised his eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

"I just received a message from my boss. The President of the United Federation," Rogue said. "He said that the Space Colony ARK is currently approaching the Earth. It won't stop until the planet is completely destroyed."

Their eyes widened. "It's coming for the entire earth?" asked Sonic.

"Yes, but there's one problem," said Rogue.

"And what would that be?" asked Amy.

"The Arks have been programmed to attack anything that moves in its path," said Rogue.

"So wait a minute, you're saying that we're gonna have to evacuate every human being on the planet?" asked Sonic. 

Rogue nodded, "If we don't stop it, millions of people will die."

Tails and Amy gasped and Sonic and Knuckles reacted with fear. They knew that the Arks would never stop unless someone stopped them, which meant it was up to them to save humanity. Their plan may work, or it might not, but at least they had a chance of stopping the invasion. 

"What should we do? We have to do something fast!" cried Tails.

Suddenly the ARK began to rumble and shake violently. As everyone else grabbed onto something for support, everything went black and suddenly the lights flickered on again. 

"What the hell? What's with the vibration?" asked Knuckles.

Sonic held onto the desk as he regained his balance. He turned around to see Rouge rubbing her head. "Whatever just happened, it must have knocked our systems offline. We need to get moving before we lose any more time," she stated.

A door opened to reveal Eggman, Orbot, and Cubot entered the room, and Knuckles stood there in a fighting stance. 

"I knew you were behind this! And now you'll pay for your crimes!" said Knuckles. 

Eggman walked towards the group. "Now, hold on. There's no reason to attack one another, especially when we know that it's hopeless. The Arks won't stop until we've reached our destination," said Eggman.

"What do you mean?" asked Sonic.

Eggman scoffed, "You're pretty persistent for a hedgehog, aren't you? Did you survive the explosion?"

Sonic furrowed his eyebrows, "Who cares about that? The question is, why are you threatening Earth? You should know that the entire world is at risk!" 

Eggman smirked. "You have nothing to worry about."

"Then explain it," growled Knuckles. The others agreed with him.

"I have two disks about the secret of my grandfather's invention. One disk contains a copy of the equations for my grandfather's creation and I intend to keep that one forever. The second disk contains a copy of the equation to my grandfather's diary." explained Eggman. Everyone stared at him in disbelief. 

"Now I'll let you watch the first one," Eggman placed the disk in the optical drive inside the computer and pressed play. As soon as he did, the screen filled with data showing the details of the Arks, and then the old man appeared on the screen bound with a chain in a chair with the mathematics scribble in the background.

"But... we'd already watched that," complained Amy.

"Of course you'd already seen it," Eggman snapped at her. "Now be quiet and watch the video," he said in an irritated tone.

"This is insane! How could you do something like that?! Don't you realize what kind of destruction you're causing?!" yelled Gerald.

"Of course not," said the army leader in a calm voice. "We know you created a dangerous weapon that threatened to wipe out humanity. We are going to make you pay for your crime against mankind. We must destroy it."

"Destroy it?! You must be out of your mind! I'm a scientist, not a killer!" protested Gerald.

"What is the difference between a killer and a scientist?!" he yelled. "Your kind has always been obsessed with science, with science alone!"

"There is nothing being interested in science! You killed my granddaughter without mercy!" cried Gerald.

"Say what?!" shocked Sonic.

"They killed his granddaughter? How old was she?" asked Knuckles.

"She was 12," said Eggman.

"What?! Why the fuck did they do that?!" shouted Sonic angrily.

"For their experiment," replied Eggman.

"Experiment for what?" asked Sonic.

"If you want to know, so shut up and watch the video," said Eggman.

They resumed watching the video before Prof. Gerald Robotnik said a final word.

"I plan to give you a taste of revenge," Gerald said. 

'What?' Sonic thought.

"Once all seven Chaos Emeralds are collected, the colony will destroy the planet!" yelled Gerald.

"Did he just say destroy the planet?!" shocked Orbot.

"All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything from me will feel loss and despair!" yelled Gerald. He panted heavily from the struggle. His throat hurt from yelling, and he could barely move. 

"Is there anything else you want to say?" asked the army leader calmly.

Gerald hung his head down," No..." he said quietly. 

The soldier cocked his rifle, "Ready!" 

A gunshot rang through the speakers, a blood spurt coming from the old man's head. The bullet grazed his head, causing it to bleed profusely. Gerald's head fell lifelessly onto his shoulder and a small pool of blood formed underneath him. Then the screen was static and faded to black.

"Oh, my God," said Rogue aghasted.

"Damn. He lost his marbles and wanted to destroy the planet," said Knuckles as he looked down, shaking his head.

"That's terrible!" exclaimed Amy as she covered her mouth. "How could he even want to destroy the whole planet?"

"Is that what happened 50 years ago?" asked Sonic, staring at the floor. 

"Yes, he was executed," said Tails.

"This is what Shadow was talking about. He talked about how Maria was killed by the army," said Sonic.

Amy's eyes widened, "Maria!? Are you serious?"

"No doubt about it," Sonic turned to Eggman. "Eggman, I really want to know what happened between Maria and Shadow. Why didn't you tell anyone about them?" he asked. "They murdered your family!"

Eggman glared at him. "My family wasn't part of this experiment. They didn't belong to it!" he said firmly.

"But-"

"Do not talk back to me, Sonic! Or I'll end you here and now!" Eggman cut him off. 

"Guys, stop. This is neither the time nor place to argue," said Rouge, stepping in between Eggman and Sonic. "Now what about the second disk you have? About your grandfather's diary?" she asked Eggman.

He sighed, "Here," he gave the second disc to Rogue, and she placed the disc into the computer. The screen changed to a diary. She cleared her throat and began to read.

"I don't quite know what happened nor what went wrong. Was it a mistake to create the ultimate lifeform? I thought it would be something that would benefit mankind. But then the military guards landed on the colony that day. They were sent to destroy the research project that I had been working on. My colleagues at the research facility, my granddaughter, Maria. I hope you all are safe. The colony was completely shut down, probably to keep from falling into the wrong hands. The ARK was shut down under the premise that there had been an accident. I found Maria's name among those who died when the ARK was shut down. She meant everything to me and I couldn't bear the thought that she died because of my research. I lost everything. I had nothing more to live for... I went insane. All I could think about was to avenge her... somehow, someway. I got scared as I no longer was able to control my thoughts. All I could think about was that I wanted it to all end. Based on my original projections, I was able to complete my project, Shadow. I designed its mind to be perfect, and pure. I will leave everything to him. If you wish, release and awaken it, to the world. If you wish to fill the world with destruction..." Rogue gasped slightly as she stopped reading and turned to Eggman.

"So that's why you released Shadow from the base," said Rogue.

"Is this true? I thought you created Shadow," said Sonic.

"Who said I created Shadow? It could be possible that he came from somewhere else. He was created to become a weapon for a purpose, but I never believed I would use it for such a noble cause," said Eggman.

"So... how do we stop the colony? We have to save people on Earth!" said Amy.

"She's right, how much time do we have left?" asked Tails.

"Uh, we got 27 minutes until the colony impacts the Earth," answered Orbot.

"The core of the Eclipse Cannon is now highly reactive and explosive. This is because the Chaos Emeralds are overpowered," Eggman said. "If the colony collides with Earth, it will shatter into pieces like my grandfather predicted. That mad scientist!"

"So, what are we waiting for? We have to stop the colony now!" said Sonic.

"And that's not all. The Space Colony ARK position may have shifted due amount of energy given off by the Emeralds. We have to stop the energy," said Eggman.

"But how do we do that?" asked Tails.

Rogue snapped her fingers, "That's it! " she turned to Knuckles, and Knuckles looked confused. "We can use your Master Emerald to stop the energy." 

"Huh? My Master Emerald?" puzzled Knuckles. 

"Yes, the only way to stop the energy from destroying the Earth," said Rouge.

Knuckles looked at the Master Emerald, then looked at Rogue. His eyebrows furrowed with determination.

"Alright, we can stop this. Let's hope this works," said Knuckles.

"The reaction of the Chaos Emeralds is moving toward the Cannon's Core! It may be too late!" cried Tails.

"We still got time left if we work together," said Orbot.

"Yeah, we're gonna stop this thing no matter what!" said Cubot. 

"Heh, no worries. Just leave it to me! I'm the world's fastest hedgehog!" Sonic pointed to himself.

"Then let's get to work!" said Eggman.

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow

Chapter 16: Return to the Place Where We First Met

Amy and Tails were crying. Amy was trying to pull herself together, but Tails was still holding her close in a bear hug, even when she was sobbing on his shoulder.

“I can’t believe it! Sonic’s gone!” cried Tails.

“Sonic…! hics Sonic…!” cried Amy.

Eggman turned to them with an evil smirk on his, pointing his gun at them.

“Now, we have some unfinished business to take care of!” Eggman pointed his gun at them again. “Don’t try anything funny…If you give me the REAL Emerald, I’ll release you both.” he threatened, aiming at Tails’ head.

Amy stopped crying for a moment, she stood up, wiped her tears, and angrily glared at him.

“You really think we’re just going to let you get away with what you did?! Sonic is gone because of you! And it’s your fault that he’s no longer here!!” growled Amy.

Tails stood up, too, angry as well. He stared Eggman down, determined to keep Amy safe. “Amy’s right, and if you hurt us, then it’s going to be all your fault!” said Tails.

“You dare talk to me like that?! You little brats! Do you know how much trouble I could have gotten into by letting you live!?” roared Eggman. “All you need do is say yes, and this will all go away! Now shut your yapping and give me the real Emerald!” ordered Eggman. Amy and Tails didn’t answer Eggman.

“If you want that Emerald badly,” Amy withdrew her Piko Piko Hammer from behind her back. Tails pulled out his own weapon as well. They looked straight into Eggman’s eyes, their anger radiating off of them, like a wave of heat from a burning log.

“You’ll have to beat us cuz we avenge Sonic’s death!” said Amy, preparing to battle.

“We avenge your death, Sonic! We’ll beat Egghead!” shouted Tails. They both charged at Eggman. Amy held her hammer high, to swing with her Piko Piko Hammer to his head, while Tails shot his laser gun strike at his arm, hoping to weaken him so Amy could knock him out with her Hammer.

Hiiiyyyaa!!” yelled Amy, as she swung her hammer, hitting Eggman square in the face. He fell back, shocked by the blow. Amy and Tails charged at Eggman, swinging their weapons around wildly. Their attacks landed blows on him, knocking him onto the floor, unconscious. Amy and Tails walked toward the unconscious form of their enemy.

“This is for Sonic, you asshole!” yelled Amy.

“Sonic… we did it. We avenged your death,” said Tails, his tears flowing down his cheeks. He grabbed onto Amy’s hand tightly. Amy smiled and gently stroked Tails’ hair. She knew they would never let their anger stop them. The two stood there, holding hands, planning to tie Eggman up.

“Let’s tie him up,” said Tails.

Amy nodded, they went to find the rope while Eggman crawled away from them and found the real Chaos Emerald.

Meanwhile

Knuckles was strolling through the space corridor hallway, wandering around looking for any sign of his friends or his enemies. His feet echoed through the empty halls as he took one step after another. He reached the end of the hallway and stepped through the large doorway into the main room of the building. He stopped there as he felt something about the energy in the air shift. It made him uneasy.

'Huh? I feel some strange energy…' thought Knuckles.

As Knuckles stepped away from the door, something flashed before his eyes. He saw a blue hedgehog lying on the floor unconscious that possessed topaz Choas Emerald. Knuckles was confused. Why was Sonic lying on the ground unconscious? He quickly ran over to him. He knelt beside him. As soon as he got closer, Knuckles realized why Sonic was unconscious. There was no blood coming from Sonic’s side nor bruises or fatal injuries. He was fine. Knuckles shook him awake. Sonic groaned in pain. Knuckles was worried. What happened to Sonic?

"Sonic! Are you alright?” asked Knuckles. Sonic slowly opened his eyes. “Knuckles?" he weakly whispered.

He helped him to stand up to his feet. Sonic leaned against him slightly, almost as if he needed support to stay upright.

"Are you alright?" Knuckles asked again. Sonic looked at him with concern."Yeah…" he replied, "just a little dizzy." he rubbed his temples.

"What happened to you?” Knuckles asked.

"I remember. Eggman set me a trap inside the pod and threw me into space. And next thing I knew, I was able to use Chaos Control before it exploded," said Sonic.

"Chaos Control?" Knuckles asked, his brow furrowed.

"I'm getting worried about Amy and Tails. I hate to ask, but can you go help them? I have to go back to the Control Room and set the fake Emerald on Eclipse Cannon before it explodes," said Sonic.

Knuckles hesitated for a few moments. He wanted to help, but he didn't want to leave Sonic alone right now.

"Knux… please…" begged Sonic.

Knuckles sighed. "…Alright. I'll see what I can find," he assured him. Sonic smiled gratefully at him left Knuckles and went to the Control Room.

Meanwhile

Rogue walked to the Control Room with the clacking sound of her heel boots. There were six Emeralds on the panel, each one connected to a different circuit board. Each Emerald had its own power source and the same power source was used by the rest of the control panels. Rogue placed a finger on the Emerald connected to the power source, which emitted a purple glow, and hummed happily. Rouge tapped the Emerald again, and the humming noise subsided. Rogue removed her finger.

"Legend has it when all seven Chaos Emeralds are collected. If the power creates a miracle, I'll have six of them, they're all mine!" exclaimed Rogue excitedly, grinning widely at the thought.

"I don't think so," muttered a voice behind Rogue. Rogue jumped slightly before turning around. A black hedgehog stood there with his arms crossed, it was Shadow.

"So that was your plan from the very beginning, huh? Or was it the direct order from the president?" Shadow tilted his head to the side slightly with a raised eyebrow. Rogue smirked confidently at his challenge.

Shadow pointed at her, "Now I know who you are. You're the government spy, Rogue the Bat, aren't you?" he asked. Rogue laughed in amusement.

"My, you already figured it out… But I guess you're not half bad yourself, Shadow. I should've seen that coming though. You've always been too smart for someone your age!" Rogue complimented.

Shadow narrowed his eyes. "Why do you care? You're pretending to work with us. You're probably the reason our plan failed…" He started approaching Rogue menacingly. "And now you must pay the price."

Rogue smirked. "Oh dearie me, I didn't realize my job required my cooperation. I think I'd rather not join with you. Perhaps you could just tell me who you really are, Shadow." She held up a copy of the file with the picture on it. Shadow was on the profile picture as well. He looked at the article in monochrome color with a serious expression on his face.

"Here are the results of the research project called The Ultimate Lifeform. And that includes the true identity of the one responsible for creating the Ultimate Lifeform, but if this picture of the REAL ultimate lifeform named Shadow. Then exactly WHO or WHAT is standing in front of me?" asked Rogue, raising an eyebrow. She watched Shadow's expression closely. Shadow glared at her and he wanted to snap at her. However, his walkie-talkie came on.

"Shadow, good news!" It was Eggman's voice. "I have found all seven Chaos Emeralds! Furthermore, someone is heading to the Eclipse Cannon. There's no time to waste before the cannon fires again. Can you go over there and stop him?" he asked.

"If you want to live, leave the Choas Emeralds where they are. The fake emerald is good enough for you," Shadow walked away from her.

"Do you actually think you're the real Shadow?" asked Rogue, hands on her hip.

Shadow stopped his track and did not look at her, "No doubt." he replied.

"Even your memories might not be real, you know?" she continued, still smiling.

"Who knows? Even if my memories are not real, it's still me, Shadow," he turned his head to Rogue and clenched his fist in determination. "And I will fulfill my promise to Maria, that's all that matters to me now."

Shadow walked out to the Control Room and left Rogue silently staring after him. She sighed in frustration.

‘I wonder what kind of man he will become…’ she thought.

Meanwhile Outside the Colony

Sonic walked through the hallway, searching for the Control Room. After walking through several corridors, he noticed someone standing in the corridor, it was a black hedgehog just standing there. Sonic gasped and hid against the wall.

'It's him. It's Shadow.' thought Sonic. He recognized him immediately. His heart was pounding against his chest, his face turned red, and his breathing became shallow. He put his hand on his chest and tried to control himself.

'No… You need to stay focus, Sonic. You cannot falter now. You need to protect the city. You have no choice!' Sonic told himself. He then took a deep breath and calmed down. 'Just act natural…' he thought.

After he calmed down, he came out and met Shadow with a poker face. Shadow turned and saw Sonic there beside there.

"You never cease to surprise me, blue hedgehog. I thought that the capsule you were in exploded in space," said Shadow.

The two hedgehogs walked through the corridor. Sonic closed his eyes and smiled.

"You know what I can say, I die hard!" he exclaimed. He took out a Chaos Emerald. "You actually saved me, y'know?"

"It was Chaos Emerald, wasn't it? There's no way you could activate Choas Control using the emerald that's fake," said Shadow unamused. Sonic smirked at him and Shadow looked at Sonic. "So, there's more to you looking like me. Just what are you anyway?" he asked.

Sonic started to run and Shadow started to skate. They were both at full speed.

"Heh, what you see is what you get. I'm just a guy who loves adventure. I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!" said Sonic, pridefully.

"I see. But I can't let you live. Your adventuring days are coming to an end," said Shadow.

"I got one question," said Sonic, Shadow looked at him curiously. Sonic's face turned into a serious expression. "Why did you kiss me? You came to me wanting to punch me or something. Instead, you kissed me. So why didn't you kill me?" asked Sonic.

Shadow scoffed, "Nothing personal. It was for my safety. As much as it would've been fun to kill you, there's no point in doing it. I have no interest in killing you. My goal is to bring about an end to the world. I won't allow people like you to interfere with it. Not even in death."

"Huh… So that's how it is," replied Sonic.

As the battle began, a mysterious energy began to manifest around the combatants. They began to sprint with a red and blue aura around them, running from the colony ark and racing towards the Eclipse Cannon. As they ran, the aura began to intensify and ripple, almost as if they were using some sort of superhuman speed. With every stride, the aura grew stronger, and soon enough, the two combatants started to fight each other.

In an epic showdown, Shadow and Sonic clashed in a battle of epic proportions. Shadow was first to attack, unleashing a flurry of yellow spears with powerful CHOAS SPEARS!! yell. Sonic, however, was too fast and agile and managed to dodge the attack. Not one to back down, Sonic retaliated with a charge and a punch to the face.

Shadow growled angrily and then curled into a ball before launching a homing attack and hitting Sonic in the chest, was thrown to the ground.

"Hah! That's the end of the game, you piece of crap!" yelled Shadow.

"Not quite!" shouted Sonic and he threw himself on top of Shadow. Shadow tried to push Sonic off, but it was useless. "Shadow!" shouted Sonic and Shadow groaned in pain.

"This is getting tiresome!" yelled Shadow.

"Shadow, for what you did was wrong, they didn't do anything to you!" Sonic yelled.

Shadow punched Sonic in the face to get off of him, and he fell to the ground.

"You never understand! They killed Maria in front of me!" argued Shadow.

"M… Maria…?" stuttered Sonic quietly.

"Yes, Maria. Her name is Maria. You knew that." Shadow answered coldly.

Sonic frowned sadly. "Oh…"

Shadow was silent as he stared at the ground, lost in his thoughts.

"Shadow…?" whispered Sonic, trying to catch his attention.

But Shadow wouldn't answer back, so Sonic decided to try another approach. He placed his hand on the side of Shadow's shoulder, surprising him and making him look into Sonic's green eyes, which held a glimmer of sadness.

"I'm sorry, you really loved Maria. I had no idea… What happened to her?" asked Sonic quietly.

Shadow looked away from Sonic. "Why do you care? It's none of your business," he replied angrily.

Sonic was taken aback by Shadow's reaction. "I don't want anyone else to suffer. I know that you love her, and I can help you if you'll just-"

"I don't need your help," spat Shadow, pulling himself away from Sonic. "You're just going to distract me from my mission."

Shadow ran away from Sonic and left him behind. Sonic then pursued Shadow and caught up with him. In order to teleport, he used the Chaos Emerald.

"Chaos Control!" he teleported in front of Shadow and knocked him out cold. Shadow lay unconscious on the floor, unmoving.

'Sorry, Shadow. But I can't let you destroy everything…', thought Sonic.

Sonic hurried to the Control Room in order to avoid firing the cannon before it was too late.

Meanwhile at the Control Room

Eggman walked to the control panel and placed the last Emerald into the stone panel. The Chaos Emeralds began to glow bright brightly and the Eclipse Cannon was preparing to fire the Earth.

"Yes! It's finally happening!! Now I can make the world of Empire of Eggman!" Eggman laughed evilly. He was to succeed; nothing could stop him now. He pressed a button and the control panel beeped as the cannon fired. In a split second, an explosion occurred at the tip of the satellite causing a massive shockwave throughout the entire cannon to accientally explode.

What?! shocked Eggman, his mind reeling with disbelief and confusion as he desperately tried to make sense of the bewildering circumstances. The Eclipse Cannon was completely damaged.

Meanwhile in the Main Control Room

Tails and Amy were sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall, feeling sad that Sonic was gone. And Eggman had escaped from them and he succeeded in destroying the Earth.

Tails' walkie-talkie beeped, he was surprised by the sound, and he answered his walkie-talkie.

"Awesome job, Tails," it was Sonic's voice.

Tails smiled in exclaimed and relief. "Sonic! Thank goodness you're alright!"

Amy held her head up that Sonic was still alive and well. She felt a sense of joy when hearing his voice. She was relieved that her love was alive.

"Look outside," said Sonic.

Tails and Amy took a look outside the window. There was an azure hedgehog hanging on the pole. He scratched his nose. And he flashed a smile and gave Tails a thumb up.
