Hello, I have revived the blog where I'm reading and commenting on every Green Lantern comic between 1994 and 2004, which I'm not sure I ever mentioned here. (The Superman '86 to '99 one is still going strong.) Will Darkseid show up at some point, and will he be chilling on a couch? I legit don't remember, let's find out!
"Shame on you people. Anyway, now I'm off to murder all my friends."
GREAT timing on this National AIDS Hotline PSA that ran in 1993-1994 DC comics.
Darkseid chilling on... I’m like 90% sure that’s a couch next to his new wife Melania Trump Darkseid in Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine's Day Special. Aw!
Darkseid holographically chilling on a couch with his adopted son and grandson, probably as a birthday gift from Kanye West. From the Mister Miracle series by Tom King and Mitch Gerads (2018).
Yes, 2018. And none of you alerted me of this. YOU HAVE ALL FAILED DARKSEID.
Important work being done at my other blog. ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️
Please listen to Superman yelling “KRYYYYYPTOOOOONITEEEEEE!” in the 1988 Superman cartoon by Ruby-Spears. Now every time Superman says the word in the comic, imagine it exactly like this. Bonus: Luthor saying “ta-ta!” Superb voice acting all around.
(Fun fact: this episode was written by Marv Wolfman, and this show incorporated many elements from our beloved Post-Crisis Superman period, but in a silly-ass Silver Age-esque way. I wrote about the first episode at the Superman ‘86 to ‘99 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/43151840)
My ‘90s Superman blog is now on Patreon! As Superman said all the time back then: Cowabunga dudes!!!! And since I feel guilty making a post here that doesn’t contain Darkseid sitting somewhere comfy, here’s an example I just found from The Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child #1:

WE’RE ON PATREON!
Ever wished this blog would update more often? Good news: now you can force us to do that, AND get access to exclusive articles by me and all-new Superman art by Don! Introducing: The Superman ‘86 to ‘99 Patreon Page!
https://www.patreon.com/superman86to99
We already have a supporters-only article about the “Death of Superman” trading cards available there, and it’s… unexpectedly sexy?
NOTE: Articles about supplementary stuff (games, books, non-continuity comics, etc.) will go on the Patreon page, but our usual issue-by-issue breakdowns will always be posted here on the blog and always be public. We’d never put such important knowledge behind a paywall. So please don’t feel obligated to support the Patreon unless you want to, in which case, knock yourself out!
Darkseid definitely had to wait in Morgan Edge’s lobby at some point, just chilling there reading Vogue and stuff, and it is a disgrace that DC has so far denied us that moment.
Superman #16, page 11 by John Byrne & Karl Kesel & Tom Ziuko. 1988.
Darkseid chilling on a pew at Sandman’s funeral, desperately pretending like he’s not overhearing the conversation going on next to him. Art by Michael Zulli.
Sandman #72
Darkseid was also at the wake. This is a thing that happened.
Who’s Who in the DC Universe #1 (1990). Art by Mark Badger.
Darkseid chilling on some sort of divan, perhaps a large ottoman, while looking at a small fire containing the face of his son. “How did this small fire containing the face of my son get into my living room?” Darkseid wonders. Some mysteries are beyond even the knowledge of the Dark Lord of Apokolips... but isn’t that what makes life (or the opposite) special?
Darkseid chilling on the ground. There's nothing more relaxing than laying down on a pile of pointy rocks and taking a cape-enhanced knuckle massage from an ancient Kryptonian murder-baby-clone. Ahhhhh.

New Gods #2 (1971) and Hunger Dogs (1985). Art by Jack Kirby.
Darkseid may have a complicated relationship with his son Orion, but you know what he doesn't have a complicated relationship with? Chilling on these wonderfully comfy seats. Whether it's a simple wooden chair or some sort of futuristic couch/elevator, Darkseid always finds the time to chill. And isn't that what we love the most about him?
Happy Polynesian Father's Day from everyone at the Darkseid Chilling on a Couch team! Life is incomplete without the tyranny of death!

And speaking of John Byrne and checking things out, I'm re-reading/commenting/lovingly making fun of every post-Crisis Superman comic in this new Tumblr: Superman86to99. You know what to do! (Follow it.)
