Happy Birthday Gyro Gearloose! 

There is a bit of a difference in which day is celebrated as Gyro’s Birthday depending on which wiki you are looking at and which date you think is most significant. I chose August 23rd because this is the day that Carl Barks first drew Gyro in “Gladstone’s Terrible Secret”, however it wasn’t actually published until May of the following year (which many people use as his birthday, understandably.) Which ever you prefer, it’s always a good day to celebrate Gyro. 

Oh, and please guess in the comments/ tags which pop/rock star was my costume inspiration for this piece. It shouldn’t be too hard ;P

I should just do a whole fashion series because imagining these guys in everyday clothes other than their default “cartoon one outfit” is one of my favorite things to draw. Gandra is always a delight, and I really like drawing her in summery things.

I just realized that the term "chicken" is very non binary... Maybe that is why I head canon Gyro that way. 😆 He has always been referred to as a chicken, not hen, not rooster. It's like a they/ them for your species and I kind of love it.

Gyro is not an eagle guys

It's come to my attention that some uninformed individual has been edited all of the wikis to say that Gyro is an eagle. This is untrue and I'll tell you why. Carl Bark (for the children in the audience, this is the man who created Gyro's character, basically God) stated himself that the character is a "chicken". I have circled it for your convenience, however it does appear multiple times within this issue and others. This is a direct quote from Carl himself. So please stop commenting on my pictures that wiki told he he is an eagle, because I'm not sure if you are aware but anyone can edit a wiki page and the internet lies.

This is from "The Carl Barks Library Gyro Gearloose Vol 3" . Check it out, the whole series is great! Highly entertaining and funny, and a fun way to learn about the characters origins.
