while Mickbell's dream of buying a house for Kuro is wholesome if he ever get a character development, I think it's best for him to take a big step of letting go of Kuro and grow himself a backbone, even if Kuro wants to go along with him

Kuro wants to see the wide world, which is why he left is home village in the first place, but he ended up getting captured and sold as a slave

perhaps demihuman are still sold as slave in some regions in dunmeshi, but maybe Laios will conduct some survey of prohibiting slavery on demihuman in Melini (which is very much canon if you see the last chapter of the manga)

who knows whether Kui will continue writing the series but if possible, I hope we get some moments where Kuro is freely learning common language instead of in secret and has some job opportunities

or maybe he could even join Falin in her new journey

I think you kinda ignore the fact that Kabru is charismatic, SO MUCH SO that his friends has to keep their family away from him because his manipulative side would make him a bit of a homewrecker

and it explains why Mickbell specific NOT want Kabru to interract much with Kuro for the same reason

Another thing you also ignored is the fact that Mickbell see Kuro as the ONLY FAMILY he ever had, he literally bawl his eyes out when Kuro died during the Chimera Falin fight, he even dreamed to buy a big house in Kahka Brud so that he and Kuro, and this add more to his desperation to keep Kuro from being independent.

Mickbell has good intention, but his decision making is poor. For instance, he does not understand what a guild is and thought that it might be a scam, he then keep ignoring the guild from time to time until his actual encounter with Chilchuck that he started changing his mind a little.

Not gonna go too much into detail, but to put a better word, Mickbell is a manchild who has been struggle to seek a normal life. His actions may not be justifiable, especially in these cases, but he's growing overtime.

You have your view of him, and that's find, just want to clarify the things you may have missed because Kui's dunmeshi lore scatter throughout her recent artbook and adventurer's bible

Hey speaking of dungeon meshi, I think its really fucked up that the story brings up slavery Twice and just glosses over it. Esp when one of said mentions is pointing out that one of the characters OWNS another which makes all their interactions a whole lot less cute.

Anyway I hope Kuro skins Mickbell and makes a rug out of them.

Technically humans in medieval times would also often get to 90 yeas, but death at younger ages was more common than now. So the average was pulled down. Even if you exclude child death (which would pull down the average top 50 to 65) if you did not die by 40 you'd have a decent chance to reach 80 if nothing weird happened.

And yeah, I think this certainly applies to Dungeon meshi tallman and half-foot, the manga and the adventurer’s bible mention that short-lived average lifespan is between 50 and 60 years, it also mention that half-foot can live at best 100 years if very few health problems occur.

Talking about death rate, the guidebook also says that elves’s population is decreasing steadily, the cause seems to vary like force to join military (canary), partaking cannibalism, but it seems to me that it’s mostly coming from dying at young age, because elves take 80 years to mature, which is actually only around 13 years in tallman age

Since Mickbell is 22, does that make him like a 30 year old in human years? For some reason that makes him even funnier to me.

In modern human standards (cuz we now live longer than we used to), if he were a tallman he’s also just around Laios age. It’s still funny because it makes him an even bigger manchild lmao

Still half-foots and tallman have quite similar life-span (which is why their interracial children can leave descendants) so I think the age of adulthood is probably based on cultural standards in different regions (Laios did mention that some tallman get married at 13), like some regions around the world still consider adult age is 16 or 14 even

Mickbell is literally my favourite little guy. I'm so happy to see people talk about him without shitting on him.

I mean he’s kinda hateable because he’s a bit of a shit head who talk shit behind Chilchuck and use Kuro most of the time. But I do think that he’s overhated and deserves at least a bit of empathy, especially with his background and because even though he’s a scab, he does learn something from his adventures with Kabru’s team and follow some advice from them like only take the food from the corpse retrievers instead of the money, and he does eventually have a normal conversation with Chilchuck even though he’s been doubtful of him (if you take notice in the Harpy/Chimera chapters)

A broken family

Kinda disappointed that almost no one talking about the fact that Mickbell has a permanently estranged younger sister and his character bio shows his family status is unknown.

Also him sneaking out and stealing from others must’ve been from his habit of stealing the food from the kitchen because his parents probably hate him a lot to the point they barely feed him. When Kui said Mickbell was all alone in the world, she really means that he has no one to rely on even in his old household.
