In 1969, California musician Jim Sullivan released his album titled U.F.O. Many of the song lyrics were about him leaving his family behind after being abducted by aliens in the desert. On March 4th 1975, Jim left for Nashville alone in his VW Beetle.
The next day, the singer-songwriter was pulled over by highway patrol for his erratic driving. Later that day, he checked into the La Mesa Motel in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Even though he paid for his room, according to hotel staff he did not sleep there but left his key inside the room. A liquor store employee states that he bought vodka late at night.
The next day, he parked his car around 26 miles away, near a remote ranch in the desert owned by the Gennitti family. He was seen by witnesses walking walking away from his vehicle, and he was never seen again.
Search parties scoured the desert for any sign of the missing musician. Months after his disappearance, a decomposed corpse matching Jim's description was later found in a remote area several miles away, but despite such a striking resemblance, DNA determined it was not him. To this day, the case remains a mystery.

Strangest Last Words
Before their execution, all death row inmates are asked if they would like to say any last words. Most choose some meaningful words, such as Ted Bundy who gave his love to his family and friends. Others simply decline to issue a final statement. However, there is a minority of prisoners who clearly do not take their crimes seriously and issue bizarre, sometimes funny, final words.
From left to right:
“..I’m ready to roll. Time to get this party started.“- James Jackson, who killed his wife and two step-daughters after losing his job
“I did not get my SpaghettiOs, I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this.”- Murderer, Thomas Grasso, speaks about his disappointing last meal.
“My last words will be, ‘Hoka hey, it’s a good day to die!…” - Triple murderer Clarence Allen. Hoka Hey is a Western Sioux Indian term that translated means ‘Hurry up.’

On 9 June, 1959, 12-year-old Lynne Harper disappeared near the RCAF Station Clinton - an air force base in Clinton, Ontario, near where she lived with her family.
Two days later, her body was discovered on an abandoned farm. She had been raped and then strangled with her own blouse. Suspicion immediately fell on 14-year-old Steven Truscott, Lynne’s friend. He was the last person to be seen with Lynne after he gave her a ride on the crossbar of his bicycle.
Steven insisted that he had dropped her off at Highway 8 and as he was cycling off, looked back and saw a vehicle approaching Lynne as she stood at the edge of the road. He told authorities that it was a “late model Chevrolet.” Nonetheless, the following day, Steven was charged with first degree murder.
During his trial, all evidence provided by the prosecution against Steven was purely circumstantial. Despite this, he was found guilty and sentenced to death which was later commuted to life imprisonment. Throughout his incarceration, he maintained his innocence and was the focus of considerable public attention, with many believing him to have been convicted of a crime he did not commit.
Steven was released when he was 24-years-old and continued to fight to clear his name which eventually happened in 2006. Autopsy findings which had been dismissed in court discovered that Lynne had been killed at a time when Steven had a solid alibi. Steven was awarded $6.5 million in compensation for this egregious miscarriage of justice.

This skull of a 14-year-old girl was the evidence that the first settlers in Virginia’s Jamestown Colony practiced cannibalism during the “Starving Time” winter of 1609. The remains of this butchered teenager was discovered in 2012. She was buried along with a number of butchered horse and dog bones. There had always been rumors and speculation that the settlers resorted to cannibalism as a means to survive but this was the first ever proof. The scratch marks from where the flesh was sliced from the face is evident. The trauma in the front of the skull is from where he skull was bashed open for the brain to be removed, according to Doug Owsley, a forensic anthropologist.
