author's note: this is my first fanfic i hope you liked it and sorry in advance incase of any mistakes as english isn't my first language!

one of kazuha’s favorite times had to be when you would cruise with him on the calm sea, the wind in your hair, the sunset in the distance. He would encircle you in his arms, resting his head over your shoulder and buries his face by the back of your neck while humming into your skin. when the night falls and the air starts to pick up.

he notices that you're cold, he wouldn't hesitate to offer you his coat. "no, keep it then you'd be cold too, kazuha." you spoke. "i insist." he says smiling at you. you can't say no to him when he smiles towards you like that.

you are the inspiration for his haikus and poetry. yet, he hesitates to share them with you because he is unsure of your reaction. whenever you would catch him midst writing, you'd grab the pages away to read them aloud to him. he would blush extremely out of embarrassment, you surely find his amusment and response adorable.

without a doubt, kazuha would try to grab it from you. while you hide them from his view while squirming around giggling. you would reassure him that you adore his works and are proud of him for them. he would likely blush even more at your compliments before luring you into a kiss.

kazuha never forgets to ask about your day. If you're not feeling well or if you have a lot on your mind, he will certainly notice. places a gentle kiss on your forehead as he holds you, he reassures you that you can talk to him, when you’re ready.

“please look at me.” he says as he reaches out to pull you into his arms. “i’ve got your back, you'll always have me to hold on to darling.” kazuha reassures you. he’d always be there to show his love for you.

he’s still sniffing when you ask if he wants a bath, still he’s significantly calmer. he agrees, holding the back of your shirt as he follows you, long sleeves wiping the remains of tears at the corners of his eyes.

you prepare a warm bath, popping some qingxing flower petals, xiao sits quietly near by. he’s lost in his own world when you go up to him, so you lift his chin up gently so he’s looking at you. he’s shocked out of his world and beautiful as ever, golden eyes, smooth skin, soft lips. you cup his cheeks with both hands and bring your lips to his forehead, then take his hand and guid him to the warm water.

you sit on a stool outside the bath as you run a bar of soap along his arms, massage shampoo into his hair, you make small talk along the way about his day and yours and whatever other irrelevant topic you can think of to make him feel comfortable.

“xiao?” you ask nervously, you both know what comes next and he’s been dreading it, he knows you have to ask, but he’s never been the confrontational type.

“yea?” he replies equally nervous

“you’ve never used a safe word before” you say, “what made you wanna stop?” it really is like ripping of a bandage as they say.

it takes a minute for him to answer, mouth opening and closing like he’s not sure what to say, “the cuffs” he whispers, and you barely catch it. he’s quiet for a while and your a little confused “i didn’t like them,” he continues, quite as ever but sensing your confusion “they reminded me of being chained, you know uhm by the evil god and all … a-and i was reminded of how it felt .. to be helpless and weak and at someone else’s mercy” he’s not looking at you as he admits all this, knees folded, cheek resting on his arms as he stares at the wall.

of course that’s what it was, you curse yourself for not considering the similarities of the situation you put him through with his past. how could you not have noticed.

“i’m sorry, i should have known” you admit

“no” he quickly replies, he’s looking at you then at the ceiling, “no i, i should have told you,” which surprises you cuz he’s not good with words but you can see he’s trying “i wasn’t sure if i was okay with it but .. i though, since it was you, it would be fine.”

you give him a soft smile and caress his cheek with the back of two fingers, glad you got to the bottom of this

“let’s get you outta here” you say as you hold out a hand to xiao.

Your face felt hot as a very drunk Kazuha clung onto you, giggling randomly and cooing your name while leaning uncomfortably close to your face.

Softly, he brushed his lips against yours, kissing you for a beautiful moment, a moment where everything and everyone froze, a moment where it was only you and Kazuha, and a moment that didn’t last long enough. Kazuha leaned back and giggled with red hues decorating his beautiful face. Fuck, you were burning up. The lingering feeling of his soft lips stayed, your hand reaching up to brush your lips tentatively, feeling the tingling of a few seconds ago.

You can’t take this anymore.

Abruptly standing up, you dragged Kazuha to the stairs, feeling him stumble beside you as ooo-ing could be heard behind you.

You led him to the balcony, opening the door and then closing it behind you, inhaling a breath of cool air. “H-hic- Y/n…?” You turned to face Kazuha, then pulled him towards you, smashing your lips together once more. the others went to look for a way out of the chasm while you decided to stay with xiao in their absence. he insisted that he could help, until he tried getting up and immediately stumbled, knees too weak to hold his weight.

you sit next to him, shoulder to shoulder. he’s breathing is slow, chest falling up and down, eyes shut. in all the time that you’ve known him, you’ve never seen xiao so at ease.

perhaps he figured out that he can’t hear people calling his name in here, perhaps being rid of his responsibilities for a little while gets him to finally rest.

he’s moving closer and resting his head on your shoulder and, for a moment, you freeze. the sudden movement so out of character for the vigilant yaksha. but he’s too physically and mentally drained to care. heart heavy after fighting his old friend.

“you alright?” you asks running your fingers through his hair. he doesn’t really reply, sort of just leans in and snuggles his head further into your shoulder. you swear he acts like a cat sometimes.

you assume this position can’t be comfortable, his neck is bond to cramp if he stays like his. so you prop him so that he’s sitting on your lap. he whines beautifully at the loss of contact but hums in satisfaction once he’s settled.

burying his head in the crook of your neck, he wraps his hand around you and you do the same. he’s engulfed by the warmth, if he could get any closer, he does, latching onto every piece of affection he��s given.

you run your fingers down his spine, back up against his shoulder blades, up his neck and through his hair. you trace the tattoo on his arm careful to avoid his injury. and he’s melting into your embrace, reduced to pudding in your arms. he’s not sure what to do and it’s honestly a little too stimulating for xiao. you notice his breathing catching up so you slow your movements and your breathing. soon he matches his breathing to yours slowing he’s racing heart.
