we have been navigating the loss of one of my kids grandparents (on coparent's side), so things have been a little emotionally chaotic around here. we are still adjusting to only having this person, who was very much a matriarch of the family, as only a memory. it was a sad, drawn out, unnecessary loss due to medical neglect and the anger has not quite subsided so.

the kids are fine, coparent is doing as expected, we are all well and trying to spend more and more time with family. but the drought of creative output has been extended. i mean, there is so much i want to be doing right now, i just don't have the motivation to actually do it.

all that to say, i'm just checking in. i haven't abandoned this place or any of my fics. i'm always tinkering away at something, even if just for a minute or two.

Sign Up for the Bering and Wells Holiday Gift Exchange 2024!

Hello everyone!

It's American Thanksgiving, which means sign-ups for the Bering and Wells Holiday Gift Exchange are officially open!

Here's how this event works:

Send a message or ask to this blog (@b-and-w-holiday-gift-exchange) or directly to me (K, your host, @kla1991) stating that you would like to participate. Sign-ups begin today and close on the Winter Solstice, December 21st.

If you sign up, you'll receive the name of your giftee on Christmas, December 25th. You will then have one week to *anonymously* contact your giftee to tell them what kind of fan works you make (art, fic, gifs, etc.) and ask for ideas or requests.

Between New Years', January 1st, and Valentine's Day, February 14th, you'll work on your gifts, and on the 14th we'll all post what we've created for our giftees and enjoy all the gifts!

If you have questions of any kind, feel free to reach out to this blog or to @kla1991 to ask. And even if you don't plan to sign up, please reblog this post to spread the word!

I have been an empty vessel of non-art this year. No explanation. I literally just have no motivation to draw or participate.

And things are just fine in life. Everybody is good. I think we’ve just been busy bodies, as the only weekend we haven’t left town all year was when we had COVID.

I’m turning 40 next month and planning a little birthday thang, so that’s also talking up a lot of my brain space.

I am going to TGIFemslash next year. Maybe it’ll spark some creativity. If you’re attending and want to reach out, please do! I know there’s a Discord but… it’s Discord. 😂

This animation class is kicking my ass but I made a dancing llama and that is all that matters.

#early retirement things #in pursuit of arting better #only fifty more years until i have enough patience to animate bering and wells #lol jk that is not happening by my hand #the point here was to create an animated symbol instead of an animated symbol on top of a looping background and #the background loop is where my brain fumbles because i'm sure there is some easier way to do this but i am mostly figuring it out on my ow #because the instructor is very much the “i won't insult your intelligence by assuming you don't know everything i'm talking about already” #ype and i am like “no please explain it to me like i am five” #also their subtitles cover the area of Animate where all the frames are so i cannot even see what they're doing half the time #plus working 60 hours a week because im trying to be rich lol #did i mention my kitchen is still under construction #its fine and im sure the universe has a plan but right now i am juggling more than i am comfortable juggling #it's not even a bad or stressful thing it's really just an i don't want to be doing all of this at once thing #the end

I am finally back in a sketching mood and getting my left-arm muscle-memory used to using my Cintiq and drawing in Photoshop. Am also still (still) working on the last bits of Ages because next year it will be TEN YEARS since I started that fic. And I intend to conclude it (part one, anyway) by (preferably before) 2024.
