~2000 Gibson Blueshawk spotted at the Elmira Vintage Guitar Show on the weekend.
This is the ONE guitar I would have bought if I wasn't so broke from buying two other guitars a couple of weeks ago 😭
I love the Nighthawk/Blueshawk family, and a Blueshawk in Red (as opposed to blue or black) is perfect! Sure this one had the pickups modded, but the price was not unreasonable at $1550 CAD

Fresh from the Folkway Music booth at the Elmira Vintage Guitar Show, and most definitely the unique-est guitar in the whole room, a FACTORY BLACK 1965 Gibson ES-355!How many (original) black 355s have you seen??

The @tonebrothers.ca always bring quite the display to Elmira!
Here's the first of MANY views from the @elmiravintageguitars show yesterday, showing the Tone Brothers' Tweed collection.

My actual gigging rig from 30 years ago.
1988 American Standard Stratocaster
1988 Red Knob Twin.
Lesson learned? NOBODY needs 100 watt guitar amp for *any* reason whatsoever. 🤣

2014 Gibson Les Paul R9
This is the first R9 I have ever owned and I love it. It is loaded with @wizzpickups "Red Eye" Ed King pickups, and they sound so good - defined mids and tight lows. Very detailed and articulate-sounding. Much too good for a hack player like me! 🤣
I am SO GLAD my pal @tomgibson3783 was unable to resist impulse-buying a couple of rare and beautiful vintage orange beauties (pics of those to come!) last week and as a result had to sell this one to me! 😉

Not going to lie: there are FIVE rare (and spectacular) vintage Telecasters visible in this shot from a visit to my friend's collection. HOWEVER...can I please request that you confine your attention to the one in the middle...just for a second! 😉
1969 Fender Rosewood Telecaster.
The all Rosewood Tele was made famous when Fender gifted the original to George Harrison, and George can be seen playing it in the famous Beatles' "Rooftop Concert" atop 3 Saville Row, on 30th January, 1969.
I have seen several MIJ reissues of this model, and even a few Custom Shop shop versions...but this is my first "real" Rosewood Tele.

"She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that’s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes"
When Lord Byron penned this verse in 1832, I am almost positive he was referring to my 1993 Gibson Nighthawk Custom.

1965 Epiphone Casino in RoyalTan. Another rare beauty from my visit on the weekend to my friend's collection:
We aren't sure who "BH" was, but who and where ever s/he is I am sure this guitar is the "I should never have sold that one" story they tell their friends… 😉

My "new" 2014 Gibson R9.
After a bad experience with a 13 lb LP Custom back in the '80s, it took me over 30 years to get interested in Les Pauls again.
Read the full(ish) story of my love/hate relationship with the Les Paul over the last few decades here:

I made a casual photo visit to my buddy's collection yesterday where I saw (and got to play!) some absolutely wonderful guitars.
I will share more of what I saw throughout the week (in ascending order of awesomeness! 😉), but since it is Monday I am compelled by Instagram hashtag law to start with this beautiful condition 1966 Fender Mustang in (Daphne) Blue finish.
It may be one of the more humble guitars in my friend's collection, but one thing that makes it extra awesome is that he also has the MATCHING MUSTANG BASS to go with it! swipe left.

Does it need to be vintage to be great? Hell no!
Case in point: this reissue Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul TV Junior VOS, on loan from my buddy @tomgibson3783, is one of those guitars that makes me sound good even on my worst day. And when the guitar helps me sound good I actually play better.
