I want us to sin so I may survive this, so I may hold onto my bandage of self if I can if I need.

IN COMING AROUND THE SHORE AGAIN
Indented, darling, madness that
slaps me whip-like, I am
drawn to the bull of yr eye: a beautiful
monster, heart, a pain that
verynearly killed me once & could easily
again if it tried * Thought then
that to roll on the ground in glee
unclothed and full of trust
just thought that with my back
stretched across his bed
I was safe perhaps : I was not
Ingrown years, a coil beneath the surface,
I scratch and scratch and find nothing
more than what I have already always had
Tremendous achievement
in having lived having taken my life
by its silly neck and dragged it
all the way here, sometimes it is still
hard for me to not scold it
when it whimpers
I've forgotten what it was like I say
only until I remember * I curse
the day I met him, as if
every day I think of him is not worse
