I look back at my career so far and I’m like, ‘OK, I’ve played many incarnations of Romeo in different ways, shapes and forms. And I’ve played the sons a lot, kings and princes and that kind of thing. And that’s been brilliant, but I’m very much going to make a conscious effort now to — I’ve done those roles. I’ve literally played Romeo twice. I’ve gone from ‘Bodyguard’ being what it is to I’m singing and dancing in ‘Rocketman.’ I’m happy to play around and do different things, but I’m happy to not be the young prince anymore.

Bodyguard Appreciation Week
→ Favourite Dynamic || Keeley Hawes & Richard Madden
Keeley:
“I didn’t know Richard at all before the read-through, before the table read, which is when we met. By the point you were doing the intimate scenes, you’ve built the friendship. It builds up trust. They were scenes a few weeks in. What was in the script, that’s sort of the thing you just have to go for it, to make it believable.
While you don’t always get on so well with everyone you were working with, in this case Richard and I got on SO well that it couldn’t have been better. I TOTALLY trusted him. And I think he felt the same.”
Richard:
“I think she’s a wonderful human being and a brilliant actress and a good friend of mine since we’ve worked together. And mostly because we’re a couple of school kids when we get together and we just giggle and are quite silly. So if I were going to get trapped in an elevator, it’d probably be with her and a bottle of champagne and we’d have the giggles.
She knows how to look after someone else on set. And this show is like, there’s gonna so much, you know, camera is on one person’s perspective. To have someone there to kind of bring out the best and challenge me And also give me a laugh between takes.”
