3. Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic

Oh I’m a mess. I have so many docs opened with scenes, outlines and stuff… I write stuff as they come to me because if I don’t I’ll forget. I wrote a dialogue while still in bed this morning because it was giving me the feelings and I was afraid to loose it if I left my bed. But, when the main ideas are set, I try to outline each chapters with the main scenes I want in them, usually I outline the first and last before filling the gaps in the middle. And then, I just start writing. Whenever I feel the block, I open a new document and write a scene that actually flows until I can come back to the main doc.

Long story short I’m a chaotic writer. I write while watching TV, I write at work, I write in my bed. And I reread everything a thousand times.

12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

I would love to tell you that I write for myself and don’t care about what people think, but that would be a lie. I love getting feedback. I love receiving comments, I love reading how excited people are over the stuff I write. It makes me feel good about myself for the first time in years. I was so sure I was done for creative stuff when Covid hit and I was just not capable of writing anything when everyone else was soooo productive… My self esteem was so low at that point, that I’m not even ashamed of saying that I write and post my stories because it feels good to receive feedback.

So please guys, comment on the fics you read. Even if it’s nothing groundbreaking, not all of us are going to post Slow Show, alright, but please, comment, give us our bread!!

Just looking at all my old Game of Thrones mystery mini figurines and I wish so badly that there was a set of Good Omens mystery minis that was just Aziraphale and Crowley in various historical outfits. I’d start making poor financial decisions so fast.

By My Side - rated T - A 10 works long, 1 MILLION words ongoing serie by @demonicputto. It's breathtaking, I've spend evenings religiously reading it and can't wait for next part

Back to the Roots - rated E - 91K words. An oldie but GOD is it good! The first part is heartbreaking, it HURTS. But it's so, so worth it.

Trial and Error - rated E - 15K words by @fellshish. The Metatron brings in the demon Crowley to stand trial in Heaven. For tempting an angel. Uhhhh. Awkward. <== loved every bit of it, not gonna spoil, but JESUS.

I'm beginning to see the light - rated E - 12k words by @ineffabildaddy. I'm a big fan of Sam's writing, so please check their other works, but this one hit me different. Human AU, trans Aziraphale and a loooot of love.

Communicatio in Sacris - Rated E - 10K words by @voluptatiscausa. Oh is this efficient. Priest Crowley. Poems. The poem lives rent free in my head, I sometimes mutter it... holy holy holy.

The Grindr logo doesn't even have a G in it - rated E - 79K words. I have to include it, even if it's probably the most recommended fic of all time. It's for a good reason. It's awesome.

And many more, but really, those I will read again and again and again.

My Muppet evangelizing was successful!

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

I had the privelege of reading @demonicputto 's Good Omens human reincarnation fanfiction series By My Side this past year, which was fantastic. One of the many amusing little facets of this fic is the role the movie The Muppet Christmas Carol plays in it, weaving in and out of the plotline with it's songs, phrases and themes. If you are a fan of the longform and haven't read this one yet I recommend bookmarking it for the holiday break.

I also took the plunge this past month and purchased Disney plus (deciding not to be a Scrooge to myself). I am finally at a point in my life where I don't have to scrimp and save, watching every penny, and by gosh, I can affort to watch a little bit of streaming television. So, here: you can take some of my money, International Corporate Behemoth Mouse (TM) in exchange for your entertainment.

Then I see on tumblr guidance on how the BBC version of A Christmas Carol a few years back was garbage. It's the Muppet version that you really should watch, it is really the most true to Dicken's original version. Even the costumes! But don't just click on play, go through the extras and click on the full version with the song that is cut in the regular version. (I'm sorry, anon tumblr, I can't find your original post to cite you. Please don't report me to Hbomberguy.)

Well, I don't rember the BBC version being that bad, but I am always up for some Muppet chaos. Tis the season, right? And it's been decades since I saw this in the theater as a kid. So let's go for it. Extras, full length version, play.

And by gosh, you tumblrs were right. (Not that I thought you were wrong mind you, but I am sometimes a bit wary with the age gap and all that goes along with it.) The not-cut-Love is Gone-song, the last song of the movie, the adherence to Dickens' story and themes, and of course, the expected Muppet chaos. I may not have actually cried at the end, but my heart certainly did swell.

Hello, could you please help, l’m looking for a fic that I forgot to save. Where Crowley has to become human as punishment or smth and starts life as a kid, and Aziraphale chooses to live as a human to help protect him. Aziraphale keeps his memory while Crowley doesn’t.

When Crowley is given the chance at a human life (birth to death, family, Free Will, the whole thing) he takes it. He does this, in part, to protect Aziraphale from being forced to take the same opportunity against his will. However, once Crowley is off on this metaphysical adventure, Aziraphale follows after him, retaining his memories but becoming human himself so that he can watch over his friend. Now the two of them are growing up together, one ignorant of their true forms and one all too aware of the strangeness of their situation. Before it's over, the series will follow the two of them through childhood and into adulthood, eventually becoming romantic.

Chapter 12 is up!!!

Aziraphale was just settling down for his lunch, when Crowley shuffled out of the bedroom still in his night clothes. His hair was a soft red mess and he kept rubbing at his eyes. He might have been up, but it was clear he was not fully awake. Aziraphale said ‘Good morning’ and got a grumble in return. It would be no use speaking with him until he’d gotten ready for the day.

Aziraphale was picking crumbs off his plate, by the time Crowley was brushed and showered and nursing a cup of coffee over on the couch. He washed his dishes and then spread peanut butter on a few slices of toast. This he took out from the kitchen and placed on the coffee table for Crowley.

“You came to bed late last night. How are you feeling?”

Chapter 11 is up!

The day was absolutely, beastly hot and the sun gave no sign that it intended to let up. The intelligent thing would have been to stay inside all day, but Aziraphale was content where he was—beneath the shade of an umbrella on the back deck of the Franklin-Jay home. They had invited the Clarks over, along with Aziraphale and Crowley, to have a party. Ostensibly it was to celebrate Crowley’s growing job opportunities, but mostly it was because Xavier had wanted to try his hand at kebabs. He’d spent his whole life living in the city; now that he had a backyard, he intended to use it.

Aziraphale sat with a tall, cool glass of strawberry-lemonade sweating on the table before him. He was dressed all in linen, except for the recently purchased straw boater that Crowley had mocked him mercilessly for. Aziraphale, who did not mind looking like a dweeb, wore the hat cocked over his eyes to stop the sun that was starting to creep beneath the umbrella as it set. The radio was playing some popular hits of the moment, while Maddy, his father, and Xavier (currently working the grill) chatted easily. It all created a pleasant background buzz. If Aziraphale had not been so content in his present viewing, he may have fallen asleep.

But the scene playing out before him was too precious to miss. Cleo was sat in her plastic wading pool, happily splashing and grabbing at toys that floated by her. Crowley knelt beside her, laughing as he made sure she stayed safe. He looked so at peace, so cheerful and freckled, that he might have simply been Anthony from a year ago. And it was wonderful to see that, while knowing he was Crowley, because it meant that after everything the demon had been through from the moment he’d been cast out of heaven, he’d finally got to experience something as simple and precious and human as this. Gotten to experience it, with the memories necessary to fully appreciate the context.

All that, and he looked very handsome in his swim trunks.
