I know this is going to make me sound like a JRPG villain or a hackneyed edgelord but. okay since I drastically cut my coffee intake I am having dreams regularly when I sleep for the first time in probably like 14 years. Like since I was a kid. and I hate it. I don't know how you guys live like this. Today it had spiders. Before that I woke up and ruined a perfectly good sleep because dream-me stepped in a puddle. I want my eight hours of blank back. I'm going to start the coffeemaker up again just to get rid of these little fuckers

notes on this experiment:

-was previously on around 3 cups a day

-am now down to 1-1.5 in the morning except on weekends

-have been drinking hot chocolate in the afternoon to maintain the psychological placebo of "sitting down all cozy with a warm mug" without the caffeine level

-i started doing this like a week into my new job which started on 3/25 so I guess its been like three weeks? almost a month?

-sleep way faster. wake up more well rested. historically it always took me like an hour to fall asleep and now I can't even lay down for a bit like I used to without it turning into an actual nap. however i am sleepy like before its even 9

-i have and remember dreams regularly for the first time in like decades. wild. you guys have been doing this every night?

-i feel kind of dumb and less alert. I may be imagining this side effect

I shall give this until the end of April and then determine whether I want to go back on the higher dosage.

Successfully weaned myself down to only one cup of coffee a day. I sleep much better and faster as predicted. However I also am so tired as to be ready for bed by 8:30 pm, losing much of my evening, and feel less productive in general. Great experiment but I'm facing the fact that my quality of life may be genuinely better when drinking regular doses of stimulants
