If you were to ever ask Mammon if there was ever a day the world ended for him, he wouldn’t tell the truth. The first lie that’d tumble from his lips would be that times Lucifer stole Goldie away from him or hid it away in an attempt to keep him from spending. After all, he’s the scummy, money-hungry, second born. What else were you expecting him to say?

At least, that’s what he first tells you. A few nights later, he slips into your room when he’s sure all his brothers are asleep or too deep into their nightly routine to interfere. In the darkness of your room with only the soft glow of candles to illuminate his face, he tells you his second lie, well half-lie. He tells you of how his world ended when his sister fell to earth, bloody and half dead, and of how his own body burned as he flew down after Lucifer and his brothers, leaving streaks of blood and broken feathers behind him.

The truth about Asmo

Looking at all the current news surrounding Asmo’s events as well as his ranking in popularity contests and even in fandom spaces, it would not be untrue to say that Asmo gets the short end of the stick in a lot of scenarios, and there is a more hushed reason about why this occurs.

Out of all the brothers, Asmo is the most openly queer (both in gender and in sexuality) of the group, and I would argue that this more than anything is why there is such discourse around his character in the fan base and by the devs.

Yes, MC’s lack of gender makes all the brothers canonly queer (something still debated within this fandom for some reason), but it exists in a way that is lightly seen in canon, resulting in many fans ignoring this fact within the fandom countless times. On the other hand, Asmo’s more androgynous leanings and overt attraction to Solomon, MC, and a few women have been openly stated or heavily alluded to in game to the point that fans are not able to hide his queerness or act as if it doesn’t exist. And tragically, there are still a good amount of people in this fanbase that cannot stand a character who exists outside of cishet norms nor the idea of them romancing said character.

While I do agree that there are criticisms and concerns that can be raised about Asmo’s personality in regard to some of his comments about his brothers and his more self-centered nature, we cannot sit here and act like those are the only reasons why Asmo is dragged through the mud so often.

To end this, I am in no way saying everyone has to like Asmo. You don’t and that’s alright. However, we cannot act like there aren’t people who dislike Asmo solely due to some homophobic or transphobic bullshit. Nor can we ignore that  his poor treatment by the devs likely spawns from his more queer leaning nature as well.

Some of the fans in this fandom are not ready to have the conversation that in canon since Angels and Demons are different species than humans that they likely have different (and longer) developmental age brackets compared to humans, and its a bit strange. For example, while an angel can be 10,000 years old in this universe, it does not mean they are full grown nor are even close to being fully developed mental or physically

Something I wish I saw more of in Obey Me fics is the reader or the OC comforting the demon bros, Diavolo, or Barbatos in ways that are so deeply human that it throws the demon off guard. 

I’m talking about bringing them your favorite blanket not because they need it but because they looked sad and you always feel better when its wrapped around you or you helping dry them off after a storm not because they need help but because it always feels better when warm hands do it. Just actions that are so inherently caring and soft that any normal demon would see it as showing your belly to the enemy, of baring every soft part of your body to teeth that could tear you apart. 

It is so strange, so foreign and they still don’t know why you do it. But when they look at you and see how happy you are to do it, they know they can’t stop you. It doesn’t matter how useless or unnecessary those acts are, they can’t - won’t stop you because on some unconscious level, they know. They know.

I am going to assume you are just really ignorant about this whole conversation and that you’re not trying to be racist here. 

White washing a character is inherently racist and can never be same as “asian or black washing” because it strips the few pieces of representation that POC get in a form of media from them by making them white. It also creates the assumption that the character (who is being whitewashed) can only be liked if they are white or have no characteristics that align them with an ethnicity that isn’t white.

“Asian washing/ black washing” or whatever the name  does the exact opposite. It takes white characters and makes them into other races, giving people of color more instances of representation with characters they love even if it’s not canon. It doesn’t impact white people at all because white people have always been represented in any form of media especially in western countries.  These instances of race altering are people making more representation for themselves in characters that they love when the world won’t give it to them. It does no harm unlike white washing which has been shown to do a fuck tone of it.  (There have been scientific studies on this matter if you want proof) 

Also you can not like doing it yourself, but to go and say other people who do it (backwashing and asian washing) are racist is a really wrong move to make especially when it doesn’t seem like you’ve read up on the subject. 

Let's end this discussion for once and for all,cause honestly I'm tired of arguing with people.

White-washing is absolutely wrong in general cause you're basically being racist towards a character.

But we have all come across people who are drawing "white" characters with darker skin tones. What I'm trying to say is: this is racist too....towards the white people... Just like how drawing the black or characters of color with lighter skin tones is wrong..drawing a white characters as black is also wrong.

But I'm not against drawing them both at the same time.

Take obey me characters for example. If you are going to draw Lucifer with a darker skin tone... Then you might as want to draw Mammon, Simeon or Diavolo with a lighter skin tone as well.... If that also sits right with you.. Then congratulations you aren't racist towards people based on their skin color.

I myself hate changing characters' skin color...

That is why I am completely against the idea of drawing them with a different skin tone...

Although, there are some artists that just can't get the colors right, and it's not on purpose either... I suggest them to take the official arts of that character as a reference.

I really love this story cause Im always ready to die for someone writing an MC who actually has complex emotions about what goes on in Devildom and with their relationships with the brothers. It just makes my heart vibrate in joy. 

But in réponse to the first question though, I think some others have brought it up but seeing MC get on him for that fact this they at root are an average human being who with no warning was taken from their home and plopped into hell which they likely had no idea was actually real. They also suddenly have to bare the weight of being an ambassador for the humans world, and at least to me, that would be so draining and maddening to just breathe with ignoring the fact that Lucifer would be on you 24/7 about it.

note: this is the fruit of me wanting to write a fic of mc going apeshit on lucifer. totally taking suggestions for ideas for this story!

It felt right to answer with that one word when you were put on the spot that morning during breakfast, seemingly ensnared by an untypical quietness that took you away from the frivolities around you. In fact, it had taken you a long time to acknowledge a question had even been posed to you at all, much less when the unruly commotion around you dissipated into hushed whispers and clinking dishware, then ultimately to absolutely nothing at all. Everyone anticipated an answer from you eventually, one you did not remedy until you were asked again with a far more jarring tone that made you spring up in your seat an inch or two.

Your reply was seemingly sufficient and inconsequential; the conversations resumed, the utensils and glassware tinkled and scrapped against one another while they ate. Meanwhile, your vibrant plate of indiscernible grub went untouched. As of late, you had thought food in the demon world to be unappetizing; not matter how exquisite Asmodeus and Beelzebub tried to make out ice-cream or an hors d’oeuvre to be, you found yourself just searching for something as plain as neapolitan or a cheese plate. Even then, it wasn’t often that the demons in the realm could replicate the authentic flavors, there was always something just a little off about them.

This unease trickled into everything else you could think of. The devildom had integrated so many facets from all of the realms, attempting to culture the residents and acclimate to the populations beginning to intermingle, but it just wasn’t the same. Designs were off, instruments weren’t tuned correctly, too much of the food slithered and writhed and was just outright inedible. The weather was too grim; there wasn’t enough sunshine, the houses were too jagged, the attitudes were far too brusque.

These were the things you noticed as you day continued, mood deteriorating until you had soured so much you took your lunch break in an empty classroom, snagging an apple from one of the tables on your way through to get away from the noise around you.

It was as you went to sink your teeth into the red apple that you heard the door hinges groan as it was shut. Lucifer was sure to bolt the door after him, phone stowed away in a pocket somewhere on his person as he approached you. A sense of dread weighed your shoulders down, eyes rolling upward as you turned in the windowsill to let your thighs and legs hang over the edge.

The amount of heterosexual people mad that this game is including one character who doesn’t Identify as a man for people who either don’t date or don’t only date men is really agitating every nerve in my body. Like not everything is for you or needs to be!

Like do yall not realize that the men you romance are literally queer and have shown attraction to not only nonbinary individuals (aka canon MC for all) but also some of them have literally talked about how they’ve been involved other men before (Asmo and I THINK possibly Solomon).
