Hours of Charles the Noble, King of Navarre (1361-1425): fol. 267v, Text, Master of the Brussels Initials and Associates, c. 1405, Cleveland Museum of Art: Medieval Art
This precious volume was obviously highly prized by its owner, the French-born King of Navarre, who had his coat of arms painted on no less than twenty folios. Rather than directly commissioning this manuscript from a specific workshop, it seems that Charles the Noble acquired his book of hours – perhaps ready-made for the luxury market – while on a trip to Paris in 1404-05. A collaborative effort, six painting styles are evidenced within the pages of this codex, those of two Italians, two Frenchmen, and two Netherlanders. The painter who was responsible for the planning and decoration of the book, and who produced seventeen of the large miniatures, was a Bolognese artist known as the Master of the Brussels Initials. His principal assistant, responsible for most of the borders, was a Florentine who signed his name “Zecho” da Firenze on folio 208 verso.
Size: Codex: 20.3 x 15.7 x 7 cm (8 x 6 3/16 x 2 ¾ in.)
Medium: ink, tempera, and gold on vellum
I posted a hat structure earlier, but here is what I ended up doing with it.
The white “bark” is modeling foam, the black spray stuff is plasti dip (probably unnecessary but I was curious about what it would do), the branches are just a small wreath I took apart.
I made the eyes out of resin flowers, which was just because I was too lazy to go find different molds or do something else.
It’s surprisingly light because the modeling foam weighs nothing.
I might try to do something to it later to make it less shiny, but idk.
i can't fucking see anything with the numbers 101 without thinking about this fucking wizard game. i sign up for a 101 class for some subject and i think "haha just like the wizard101". people add it to their usernames and i wonder if they did it because of wizard101. i act like wizard101 has a patent on 101. when will my brain stop
Hey folks so I’ve been putting together a hobbit costume and I decided to share the process so that y’all can make one too if you want.
I got some weird costume feet called “jumbo big foot” or something from walmart for $10 and glued them to some dance shoes I got at goodwill for like $3.
I got the hair from a pin cushion I thought reasonably matched my hair color, but where you get the hair isn’t important. I won’t ask questions.
The rest is paint.
In conclusion, here are feet you can make for $13ish dollars.
(I edited them a lot since the bottom pic so they look like the third and fourth pics now)
hello everyone. now I am watching Cruella and honestly the movie could have started at 30 minutes in and have been better.
Actually the movie could have been a hot take on the toxic environment of the fashion industry in the 70s from the perspective of a woman pushed over the edge by the pressure to be innovative.
It could have been the love-child of black swan and the devil wears prada.
Currently trying to make another cheap wizard hat but there have been a series of mistakes, beginning with my birth. I’ve attached photos of the hat before it went south.
Materials: Thrifted hat (the hat was purchased broken, I’m not a monster.), craft foam or whatever it’s called, duct tape.
