We are thrilled to announce that Jane Bottery, an extraordinary artist, will be participating in the upcoming Digswell Arts Open Studios on 1st and 2nd July! 🖌️✨ Jane's captivating works embody the essence of minimalism, where the original inspiration is distilled to its core. Her pieces beautifully capture the essence of a place while evoking a sense of memory and personal experience. Each artwork is a fleeting idea, a moment of presence, brought to life with luminosity and translucency. 🌅💫 Through series and interconnected pieces, Jane explores the interplay of mark-making, surface, and meditative action. Chance and improvisation play vital roles in her creative process, with each artwork gradually taking shape over time. The concept of resting before completion holds great significance, allowing the work to evolve organically. 🎨🌱 Jane's exceptional talent has earned her recognition, as she was selected for the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in 2022. Currently, she is working on a joint exhibition at Parndon Mill, Harlow (10 August to 17 September), where her art is influenced by the mesmerizing coastal landscape of Essex. 🌊🏞️ Having obtained a 1st class degree in Fine Art from Manchester Polytechnic and the University of Hertfordshire, Jane resides in north London. Since 2017, she has been a distinguished fellow at Digswell Arts. 🏰 To explore Jane's extraordinary creations and learn more about her artistic journey, visit her website at janebottery.com. You can also follow her on Instagram at @jbottery. Prepare to be captivated by her incredible talent! 😍🎨 Make sure to mark your calendars for the Digswell Arts Open Studios on 1st and 2nd July to witness Jane Bottery's awe-inspiring artworks firsthand. Sue Jarman is exhibiting as part of DIGSWELL ARTS OPEN STUDIOS Saturday 1st July - 11.00am - 6.00pm Sunday 2nd July - 11.00am - 4.00pm Sue is an image maker with a spontaneous documentary style of working. Observational drawing is a fundamental part of her practice, a process she calls ‘visual eavesdropping’. So, whether capturing figures to a soundtrack of conversations and unfolding narratives, or out in the landscape at the mercy of the elements, there is always a subconscious and emotional response and connection to time and place. This visual stimulus is then the foundation for resolving ideas through printmaking. Whether working on paper, fabric or more recently with ceramics; her outcomes, drawing, illustration, printmaking, and surface design always have a narrative quality. Mary has a BAHons Fine Art and has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the UK. Her bold and colourful prints are made with eco awareness. Using discarded packaging as unorthodox printing plates, her prints incorporate a critique of consumerism and a current fixation on 'economic growth'. They can be understood to accommodate a narrative that acknowledges the realities of our acquisitive desires whilst also being seductively beautiful. Original artwork makes a beautiful gift for any occasion. Why not give the gift of art this Christmas To view more of her work or make a query, please visit marydownartist.co.uk or @down_mary
