Inktober 2023 Day 5 - Map

I decided to draw a sort of... space train navigator. and because it's me, he's a catboy. he's looking at a map in one of the doodles, so technically i did meet the brief :^)

Lore under the cut:

In this universe, trains running in space, sometimes called Space Trains, Rapid Galaxy Transit, or Celestial Rail depending on where you're from, are the standard form of locomotion. People take these trains to get to everywhere, some ride it daily to work, some ride occasionally to visit family.

Due to the complex nature of Inter-Galactic Travel, most Space Trains have a separate navigator -- Known as a Celestial Rail Navigator = to assist in ensuring that the trains are always running on the correct tracks, to the correct stations. It is a challenging job, as mistakes can result in disasters, ranging from days-long delays, accidental collision, or in the worst cases, driving straight into a wormhole.

Stanley got his job as a Celestial Rail Navigator by showing up at one such Conductor's office daily, for several weeks, his telescope and sextant in hand, asking for a job, even demonstrating his talents until The Conductor eventually caved.

He's autistic and his special interest is space trains and astronomy. He loves navigating because it lets him study the stars, and he is good at what he does. Nobody is quite so sure when, why and how Stanley got so good at navigating, but hey, never question a good thing.

He likes sweet treats, and is typically cheerful and enthusiastic.

I actually don't know his backstory yet so this is everything. Thanks for reading all this I really liked writing it.

Innocent lives taken nonstop, most times never seen or heard. People meant to protect citizens doing the murder, most times getting away with it. Fear of death on a daily basis because of the color on your skin. You are a human being... You MATTER Enough is enough. Superheroes may not exist in our world, but we can be our own heroes. At a time when we need them most, we are the ones that have to stand up for justice and human rights. We need to unite. We need to change. Even if you think you can't do anything, there is always something no matter how small. We've always needed change in America. Racism isn't anything new, only now we have cameras and social media. Time to be a real hero. Protest if you feel mentally and physically capable. Stay safe and don't take advantage of looting, especially if you're white. Support black artists and businesses. There is a lot of beautiful work out there unrecognized and waiting for you. Give them love. Listen to what's happening. Don't think this doesn't affect you if you're not black. Educate yourself because being silent lets oppression continue. If we could have stopped discrimination by now we would have, but never give up hope.
