THE CORPSEMEN:
Upon first glance, he was perfectly handsome, a captivation wrapped in just enough arrogance to grab your attention, and enough charisma to keep it indefinitely.
The longer you looked, the unease would set in — that biting instinct that something wasn’t quite right with this man. He carried with him an air of danger that was rivalled only by his sheer magnetism.
He stood, a tall pillar of lean muscle and sun-bronzed skin. The naive would see him, suit clad and postured with import, and assume a holiday on a yacht somewhere on the crystalline Caribbean. The rightfully cautious would suspect more sinister dealings. That never dulled his allure to them, though. No matter how loud their instincts were, begging them to run, they would almost always be drowned out by the intoxication of hearing their name on his tongue and the deep intonations of his voice.
The only things indicative of his true nature were his calloused knuckles and the litany of scars that graced his features.

WESTWOOD:
“He receives no trial, for he is deserving of none.”
The realisation that dawned on Silas was as slow and creeping as oncoming dusk, his righteous fury giving way to horror. His sneer — a performance of indignance now a mask of reproach — swivelled to ravage the whimpering husk of his brother.
He knew there was only crime worthy a fate such as this, to be denied a fair trial before the Eldritch Council. His blood ran cold as his snarl echoed in the chamber, feeding him back the condemnation reserved only for the worst of their kind: “Kin-killer.”

WESTWOOD:
“What is the meaning of this?”
Their gathering scattered, immediately leaping away from the body that lay atop sterile steel. Belladonna Aimes' eyes narrowed, anger roiling in those scrutinising dark depths, as black as the blood that stained their guilty hands and seeped from the surgical incision of the corpse.
Ichabod was the first to break the silence, his culprit scalpel gently set aside with more care than he'd afforded the dead girl. “There's been a death. A drowning.”
The headmistress' robes swept the stone floor as she stalked forward to peer closer at the girl. She grimaced at the heavy scent of metal and dark rot that permeated the air. “And you've taken it upon yourself to autopsy a student? A Fae, no less? Solstice Dullahan could very well have your head for this, Lister.”
Her scathing hiss was met with silence as she turned her wilting gaze on the other members of this secret communion.
“It wasn't without good reason,” a soft voice finally spoke. Roman stepped forward, demanding his case to be heard. “Tell me, Headmistress. In all your years alive, how often is it a Siren drowns?”

I would be so sad for a recast bc I can't visual anyone else while reading Elijah 😭 but if that's the route you want to go then my vote is for Oscar Isaac, he's the only one who comes anywhere close to having the same vibe to me
I've decided to not recast as of this moment.
The story shouldn't be about people's physical appreance anyways. That's all an FC is and should be, though, so I see no reason to change it just yet, as I'm more focused on telling the story.
Thank you, though, your vote has been counted for if I do recast! 💕

This pressure on you to vet/change fcs is so absurd!! A) this is not a for-profit thing, you're not HIRING those actors, and B) for the Joel Kinnaman thing especially - he got a restraining order granted for HIM bc the accuser was threatening physical harm on his family and tried to extort money from him before filing a report! That's a pretty damn good reason to wait for trial results. False accusations DO happen (as ofc I know you're aware of). Other anons need to lay the fuck off of you!
I have nothing to add, points were made and this was perfectly worded 💕

Artemis Rising ? also you are not boring or basic take it back
I have the opening scene for Artemis Rising already planned. I am considering writing it as a screenplay as well, like I did with The Tourists.
The opening shot is of a record player; the needle drops and a warped, melancholy version of Mr Sandman begins to play.
Cut to: a coffee machine. A pair of hands enter the frame, beginning the motions of preparing their morning brew, mechanical in their actions.
We slowly begin panning out, revealing the back of Miles Webber as he finishes up. The more we see of the kitchen, the more we realise something isn't Quite Right™ — the kitchen is in a state of disarray, appliances broken, fridge door barely hanging on by a hinge, blood spatter on the cold metallic doors of the Paragon-12.
Miles turns and begins walking, and the camera moves with him in a continous shot. He's the picture of calm with his mug of coffee. On his way out of the kitchen, he steps over a body; dressed in the same NASA prescribed sweat suit he is.
We follow him in side profile as he walks down a hallway, the large plexiglass window handprinted in red smears of blood. Outside the window, we see there are two moons hovering in a dusty orange sky; our indication we are not on Earth.
He stops by a large vaulted metal door - large gashes in the metal, deep indentations notifying us of violence - and sets his coffee down. He picks up an axe leaning against the wall beside it, and begins brutally hacking at the door, bellowing in exertion and rage. He repeats, over and over again, the song becoming slowed and eerie as we cut to inside the locked room.
Isobel Ian sits, legs drawn up to her chest, eyes widened in terror as she flinches every time a new blow lands on the metal. She shuts her eyes as a scratch in the record has the song stuck on the word: over.
Cut to black.

Hey, I noticed you're using Bob Morley as an fc and wanted to let you know that he abused his ex-girlfriend, there's also been mentions of him being racist and homophobic.
This is not something I was aware of, but thank you for informing me.
Allow me to state that:
I do not stand for abuse of any variety.
I do not stand for homophobia, terfs, and bigotry in general.
I do not stand for violence, misogyny, or racism.
I would hope that my actions have made that clear over my time on this site, and hopefully they will continue to align with these values. As such, I wanted to take the concerns people brought to me seriously, and I've given them some thought.
I have not and will not use people with confirmed claims of abuse or multiple corroborated stories of abuse as FCs for characters. I will not use people with a long history of racism or homophobia, or any other forms of bigotry.
That being said, as a result of personal experiences, I may use people who have shown a change in behaviour as I believe I wasn't the same person I was five years ago. And thank God for that, because I still find myself cringing at who I was last year, let alone my formative teenage years.
As it stands, from my deep dive into the Bob Morley Situation, much like I did with Joel Kinnaman, nothing has been updated on it for approximately two years, and there has been no further information or investigation to the alleged claims.
An FC is, and should be, merely a visual aid for me to envision the story that I have created. Nothing more, nothing less. An actor is not their character, a character is not the actor. They merely look the same.
I am not in support of every casted actors values or histories. It is merely the closest approximation of how I perceive my characters' physical appearance. My characters come to me first, and the casting comes after. I have simply selected the actor who resembles my character the closest in my mind.
If you are uncomfortable with any of this, feel free to blacklist the actor's and character's names so you don't see the posts, or unfollow me.
I am only human. We should all be afforded the opportunity to make mistakes and learn and grow from them. Keeping my original castings may be one. But as it is merely a depiction of the character's physical appearance, I would hope not.
Faceclaims are not the actor.

Hi! ☺️
First of all, I want to say that I hope these asks don't demotivate you. Nothing came up during my brief research on Joel Kinnaman, either, at least not when I googled the actor after reading your story and no one has the time to research every faceclaim in great detail. This is, first and foremost, a hobby that should spark joy and only very few people expect a thorough background check, that is just not feasible.
I also agree with you that while actors like Johnny Depp of Amber Heard are burnt ground for faceclaims, simply because of the association, generally, a faceclaim uses only the physical appearance of an actor, usually even an actor in a role, and says nothing about the author's idea of said actor's character -- especially because usually, they have none.
I do also think there are more respectful ways to let you know your faceclaim has a history of rape allegations. So while of course it is good to let an author know about a potentially problematic faceclaim, generalised accusations and snippy allegations do not help.
As for your recasting choices, I think Sebastian Stan best represents the slightly rugged and but good-natured and protective adventurer and treasure hunter.
I listed a few other possible faceclaims from action TV shows, so I hope they have the right look for edits:
Michael Landes (Hooten and the Lady)
Ricky Whittle (American Gods)
Brett Dalton (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Jeff Ward (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Henry Simmons (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Nick Blood (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Jon Bernthal (Punisher)
Don't worry! The Tourists is still underway. I'm just taking a moment, but the next scene will be published soon.
I also have so many actors cast, from Westwood to The Corpsemen, and I really thought the initial ask had been about Dominique (on my OC account, @decennia) who is in need of a major character renovation.
It is also not a subject matter I particularly enjoy revisiting, so I wasn't about to go through every actor and search allegations. That's the word of the moment, though, isn't it? Allegations. Alleged. We won't know without a shadow of a doubt until the whole entire truth is out.
It really was about the appearance, if I'm being honest. This character was based off of softer versions of Rick Flag and Takeshi Kovacs. That's all. Joel Kinnaman is not those people. He just portrays them, and those portrayals are the influences that contributed to the creation of Elijah Pierce.
Still, I do not want to be associated with this subject matter any more, even if I'm still awaiting the trial. I won't stand for my name being dragged through the mud like this, or my integrity called into question.
For the recast, I've also started learning more towards Sebastian Stan, actually. Robert Pattinson (who has been winning in the polls as of now) is, in theory, perfect, aside from the major fact that he's a bit too... pretty (?) to be Elijah. He's too refined, doesn't menace enough. I have a hard time believing that Malcolm would fear his rage, aside from his portrayal of Batman. But I can't very well have Elijah running around in a bat costume in The Tourists, can I? 😂
As I have been writing The Tourists very much with Kinnaman in mind (in appearance), it's hard to extricate the two for the time being. It'll likely change as I adjust more to the idea of someone else being Elijah, though.
Ricky Whittle is also an incredible contender! Thank you so much.
And thank you for being so kind and wonderful. I very much love and appreciate you 💕

honestly i hope you don't feel bad about not knowing about any of this regarding joel kinnaman. i've always really liked his stuff as well and i only found out about the allegations just now through your post. no one can be expected to know everything about celebrities, and i learn about these types of things through posts like yours more than i actually do through headlines. and as you said, the allegations against him literally can't be found unless you search the words with his name, and you can only do that if you already know about the allegations.
it's a touchy subject for many people, and i think people need to be a bit more concise and thoughtful when informing people of such allegations. not just throwing out insults with no context or not giving someone the whole story. the joel kinnaman stuff hasn't done much circulating, so it's safe to assume not many people knew about it and a lot still don't.
in any case, i'm sorry you had to actively search out this information on your own and i hope that you're doing well.
I'm honestly doing fine 💕
I went into it knowing what I was in for, and had time to mentally prepare myself for it. It's easier to stomach that way.
Thank you for reaching out, it means a lot. All my love and appreciation to you.
Might I remind people to also please keep an open mind about matters like these. Like this person just said, not everyone just knows things. Accusations carry a lot of weight with them, and we don't know the whole story just yet.
I am still awaiting the trial to finally make up my mind. I don't owe anyone any further explanation as to why, but I've already told of my experiences — which I didn't have to — but felt almost compelled to in order to clarify why.
My experiences are not the same as your experiences. Respect that.

It has come to attention that my name has been thrown around alongside some hefty accusations.
Let me preface this by saying:
I had no idea.
I am hardly a “Joel Kinnaman expert.”
I've had a crush on him since 2016. I am not one to have a crush on someone, and then have to know everything there is to know about them. Everything I find out about people is on mainstream media, or if I notice a headline in a magazine that sparks my own interest in wanting to develop an informed opinion.
I will admit, I received a previous anon which I deleted. It simply said “rapist supporter 🤢.” It triggered me — it came out of nowhere, I was surprised, and it brought back some memories I would prefer be left behind. I initially thought it might've been about Dominique de Haan, as her information page has not been updated. She was a Davis Calloway pairing, and was made pre-season 1B was published and everything that Davis had done (which had NOT been set-up in 1A, mind you) came to light. That was my rationalisation at the time. I admit my mistake.
Joel Kinnaman does not have the same starpower as Johnny Depp. Where the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard situation (not the same situation) was on every magazine front page, Joel has not been. As Johnny was a huge figure in my and my friends' childhoods, naturally we spoke about it. But Joel is very much lesser-known. I seem to be the only one among them who even know his real name (otherwise he's referred to as Rick Flag), or have even seen Altered Carbon.
I have also been living in Taiwan for the past three years, and although my Mandarin has reached “decent”, I'm still terrible at reading it. But there was nothing to read, because he never made it to a front page.
I don't actively seek out celebrity drama. I have enough things to deal with on my own, and within my circle of friends, both online and physical. Not always bad things, but everyone deals with their own stuff, good and bad, and I prefer to share in that with people I know, rather than celebs.
I also don't actively seek out this kind of news, because it is very triggering for me. As someone who has seen both sides of this coin — both as a victim and as someone who is close with a falsely accused (I'm not saying these allegations are false, but I am saying that my particular person's was, because they'd been with me that entire night on a camping trip and the girl admitted to lying) — I tend to avoid triggers such as searching “Joel Kinnaman rape allegations.” It was a very disturbing and harrowing experience for me, and I have fortunately made it out okay, to the point I can even reas about other women's accounts. But if it's thrown at me with no warning, I still shut down occasionally, and that's okay. That's how I cope.
Saying “how hard is it to Google Joel Kinnaman” is a moot point, because when you do, nothing turns up immediately. I don't vet my FCs, I just go for who fits in the role I've made up. If you do scour every single actors entire history for controversies before you cast them, then more power to you, but I am not someone with that much time.
That being said, I have now done the research. And my opinion is that I will wait for the trial before I fully decide to cancel and villainise him. He has been nothing but cooperative with the authorities, and was also granted a restraining order. That should mean something. There has been no more word on the matter since August 2021.
However, I am open to recasting Elijah Pierce. Should anyone have a good alternative for the character I have mapped out, I am open to hearing it.
In the meantime, get my name out your mouth. Please. This is not a conversation I want to constantly be a part of.
