To add to previous post: I wouldn't mind playing my Neopets characters in some kind of campaign since they have a story, a basic personality and class (rogue and sorcerer), but I guess I would need to make them something other than Neopets... lol.

Most characters I draw here aren't my own, they're my friend's characters or NPCs from TTRPG campaigns. But I've had some character concepts baking in the oven for a bit, and nowhere else to talk about them, so I'll talk about it a little.
Deku scrub girl with something like chain-of-hearts (ceropegia woodii) type hair, heavily based on a self-insert character that I made and drew when I was around 10 years old. Self-aggrandizing and mostly interested in herself, like most of her species. Paranoid and superstitious. Some kind of caster class character. I'm dreaming about some kind of Zelda-universe campaign taking place during an era where the whole Link/Zelda/Ganon thing isn't happening and the world is dealing with more down-to-earth, realistic struggles (e.g. faction/political struggle) rather than just the literal incarnation of evil, which nobody but Link/Zelda can ever do anything about anyway. That universe has a really interesting layout/racial makeup/bestiary etc but it's tethered to Link's perspective every time, I think some really interesting stories could be told within it. But this will probably never happen for me.
Lamia based off a death adder with a fat/chunky snake body, minimal ornamentation (basically just chest wraps) and earth-toned color palette only set apart by red eyes. An utterly charmless, tactless character with a -1 CHA modifier who nevertheless tries to engage other people because she's curious and really, really wants to make some friends. Speaks her mind at literally all times, but without a shred of malice.
And a few aesthetic character design components that have been interesting me lately (by "interesting" I mean I've been collecting many refs in an inspo folder, by "lately" I mean the past year), but I don't have any sort of character/archetype/class/story in mind for, just visuals:
Glasses-centric designs, especially paired with other classic signifiers of "introverted bookworm" type characters, such as long pleated dresses, wool garments and braids (e.g. Mary from Harvest Moon: FomT, Lettuce Midorikawa from Tokyo Mew Mew)
Armored dresses that seem to be the halfway point between "knight" and "rococo-era dress", especially ones that, despite all impracticality, have a petticoat underneath (e.g. official art of female swordsman and crusader from Ragnarok Online, Saber from Fate)
Weirdly horny designs for a visibly older woman humanoid - I'm talking actual visible age in her features and sagging breasts, paired with clothing that seems a touch too indecent for someone that age, like a slightly sheer sundress with no bra underneath
Anthro horse designs leave a lot of room for experimentation with pattern and colors, hair/mane AND tail can be styled, boots or spats that emphasize and support digitigrade, hoofed legs

Really, really old (2012) Balrog animation. I was floored when I ran into this while browsing around on Tumblr - I don't have a copy of this anymore and almost forgot I ever made it.
It only exists in 2024 because when you reblog, Tumblr makes an entirely new copy of that post. Some people had reblogged it, so it was preserved.

Using Kuroihire Kenta as my model to try out this hip new thing called "line weight". Happy with the lines, but kinda think the whole thing is let down by the fact that I still don't really understand how to choose colors well.

Husband's D&D 5E (sort of - homebrew universe and races) wild magic barbarian oni, Kasimir. I love drawing in this style.

I had a dream that Professor Gorr returned to GW2's story and had an updated look like this - long hair worn down in a similar way to one of the female asura hairstyles, a more mage-ish outfit and lots of rings.
