‘RHOC’ Star Alexa Curtin Sentenced to Jail After Pleading Guilty
Tumblr media
“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Alexa Curtin was sentenced to jail after she pleaded guilty in court.
The Blast reported, she had been fugitive for a almost a year before finally appearing in court last week.
Via The Blast:
According to court records, obtained by The Blast, Alexa Curtin appeared in an Orange County court last week, and pled guilty to a long list of criminal counts of possession of a controlled substance and substance paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, vandalism, and petty theft.
In many criminal cases, especially with overcrowded jails, some defendants who are sentenced to jail time can get “time served” and get released the same day they are sentenced (depending on the crime they have pled guilty to). In Alexa Curtin’s case, she had served jail time before her sentencing hearing, and records show she was released the same day she was sentenced. Alexa had five separate criminal cases before a judge and she was sentenced in four of the five of the cases on one day. One tiny victory for the reality star was that a case for possession of a controlled substance was thrown out.
Alexa had previously pled guilty to counts of petty theft and battery from a criminal case filed against her back in 2016, and she was facing a probation violation for that prior criminal case. She was sentenced to 68 days in jail for that case, and court records show that her probation has ended for that particular case. Alexa could have faced serious jail time with her lengthy criminal history and being in violation of her probation. Alexa is not getting a free pass per say, but her sentence could have been a lot worse for the reality star. Some judges will sentence multiple offenders to original sentences when they violate probation.
s we previously reported, Alexa Curtin not only faced legal trouble for her drug issues, her marriage also ended in the process. After six years of marriage, Alexa filed for divorce from her estranged husband Michael DeVecchio. In other ‘RHOC’ drama, it has been reported that Alexa’s mom, Lynne Curtin had been served with an eviction notice for her rental property, and Alexa and her sister Raquel broke the news to their famous mom while filming their reality show!
Alexa was sentenced to period of three years, 68 days in jail, a three-month first offender alcohol program and resolution for damages.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar ‘Shocked’ After Dustin Diamond’s Death
youtube
Mark-Paul Gosselaar and the cast of “Saved by the Bell” is opening up on the death of Dustin Diamond here’s why.
Dustin died on Monday after battling Stage 4 cancer and then completed his first round of chemotherapy on Jan. 21.
Via ET:
Gosselaar said he and the rest of theSaved by the Bell cast -- which includes Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies -- are still shocked at Diamond's sudden death at just 44 years old.
"Well, it's always tough when someone passes away," Gosselaar says. "I think it's even more so when the individual is someone you know and the age of Dustin -- it was only a few weeks ago that we heard about his diagnosis and for it to happen so quickly is shocking. Myself and the rest of the cast, we will get together at some point and sort of express our feelings, but yeah, it happened so quickly that we're all just pretty shocked about it."
On Monday, Diamond's Saved by the Bell co-stars paid tribute to him, including Gosselaar, who tweeted, "My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Looking back at our time working together, I will miss those raw, brilliant sparks that only he was able to produce. A pie in your face, my comrade."
Lopez Instagrammed, "Dustin, you will be missed my man. The fragility of this life is something never to be taken for granted. Prayers for your family will continue on."
As for Berkley, she Instagrammed throwback pictures of Diamond as Screech, writing, "I’m grateful to have gotten to create with Dustin when we were at the beginning of our dreams coming true. I will hold onto those sweet memories and the laughs we shared. He was a truly gifted talent. Rest In Peace 🙏🏼🤍✨."
Meanwhile, Thiessen Instagrammed a more recent picture of Diamond, writing, "I am deeply saddened by the news of my old co-star @realdustindiamond passing. Life is extremely fragile and it's something we should never take for granted. God speed Dustin. 💔."
On Monday, Diamond's team said he did not suffer during his final moments in a statement about his death.
"He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago," the statement read in part. "In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful."

Morgan Wallen GOES Off Appears to Shout N-Word Outside Home, Apologizes
Tumblr media
Getty
Morgan Wallen appeared to dropped the N-word outside his Nashville home and then afterwards apologizing.
TMZ posted the video on Tuesday as they pointed out the country star and a group of buddies had just spent a night out in Nashville. When they arrived at Morgan’s home at around midnight, they were extremely loud ... honking horns and talking loudly...loud enough to upset the neighbors.
Via TMZ:
As Morgan appears to stumble toward his house, he tells someone to watch over a guy in his group. He says ... "take care of" this "p**** ass mother******" -- and then goes on to say, "take care of this p**** ass n*****" ... before finally heading in.
The video (above) was recorded Monday morning -- again by the same neighbor ... more clearly showing Morgan as he left his home with a friend.
The apology to TMZ:
“I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

SpaceX Starship Explodes After Test Flight Crash Landing
youtube
Somewhere Elon Musk ain’t happy after testing went wrong.
On Tuesday a SpaceX starship exploded after a test flight crash landing went down into fire explosion.
Via NY Post:
The rocket launched at around 3:30 p.m. and flew as high as 10 kilometers, or about 32,800 feet altitude, before turning to a horizontal “belly flop” position and performing a series of maneuvers.
It then attempted to land upright, but appeared to come in too fast and at a bad angle, according to the footage.
The flight ended in a deafening crash, sparking a fiery explosion that sent up a cloud of dust and flames.
The explosion was similar to one in December, when the company’s SN8 rocket was destroyed.
Both are prototypes being developed by CEO Elon Musk’s space company in the hopes they’ll one day carry humans on missions to the moon and Mars.
Musk was uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter during Tuesday’s flight, having announced the night before that he was taking a break from the social media platform.
The tech billionaire had tweeted throughout the December flight, including to say that mission was largely a success despite the crash landing.
SpaceX didn’t immediately respond for a request for comment by New York Post.

Breaking News: Jeff Bezos Steps Down as Amazon CEO to Transition to Executive Chair
Tumblr media
Getty
Jeff Bezos is stepping down as the CEO of Amazon while transitioning to a executive chair of the Amazon Board in Q3.
Replacing Jeff is the new CEO will be Andy Jassy, who currently serves as CEO of Amazon services of (AWS).
Via CNBC:
I’m excited to announce that this Q3 I’ll transition to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board and Andy Jassy will become CEO,” Bezos said in a letter to employees. “In the Exec Chair role, I intend to focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives. Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence.”
Bezos said he will stay engaged in important Amazon projects but will also have more time to focus on the Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company, The Washington Post and the Amazon Day 1 Fund.
Fellow Amazonians:
I’m excited to announce that this Q3 I’ll transition to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board and Andy Jassy will become CEO. In the Exec Chair role, I intend to focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives. Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence.
This journey began some 27 years ago. Amazon was only an idea, and it had no name. The question I was asked most frequently at that time was, “What’s the internet?” Blessedly, I haven’t had to explain that in a long while.
Today, we employ 1.3 million talented, dedicated people, serve hundreds of millions of customers and businesses, and are widely recognized as one of the most successful companies in the world.
How did that happen? Invention. Invention is the root of our success. We’ve done crazy things together, and then made them normal. We pioneered customer reviews, 1-Click, personalized recommendations, Prime’s insanely-fast shipping, Just Walk Out shopping, the Climate Pledge, Kindle, Alexa, marketplace, infrastructure cloud computing, Career Choice, and much more. If you get it right, a few years after a surprising invention, the new thing has become normal. People yawn. And that yawn is the greatest compliment an inventor can receive.
I don’t know of another company with an invention track record as good as Amazon’s, and I believe we are at our most inventive right now. I hope you are as proud of our inventiveness as I am. I think you should be.
As Amazon became large, we decided to use our scale and scope to lead on important social issues. Two high-impact examples: our $15 minimum wage and the Climate Pledge. In both cases, we staked out leadership positions and then asked others to come along with us. In both cases, it’s working. Other large companies are coming our way. I hope you’re proud of that as well.
I find my work meaningful and fun. I get to work with the smartest, most talented, most ingenious teammates. When times have been good, you’ve been humble. When times have been tough, you’ve been strong and supportive, and we’ve made each other laugh. It is a joy to work on this team.
As much as I still tap dance into the office, I’m excited about this transition. Millions of customers depend on us for our services, and more than a million employees depend on us for their livelihoods. Being the CEO of Amazon is a deep responsibility, and it’s consuming. When you have a responsibility like that, it’s hard to put attention on anything else. As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions. I’ve never had more energy, and this isn’t about retiring. I’m super passionate about the impact I think these organizations can have.
Amazon couldn’t be better positioned for the future. We are firing on all cylinders, just as the world needs us to. We have things in the pipeline that will continue to astonish. We serve individuals and enterprises, and we’ve pioneered two complete industries and a whole new class of devices. We are leaders in areas as varied as machine learning and logistics, and if an Amazonian’s idea requires yet another new institutional skill, we’re flexible enough and patient enough to learn it.
Keep inventing, and don’t despair when at first the idea looks crazy. Remember to wander. Let curiosity be your compass. It remains Day 1.
Jeff
Bezos founded Amazon as an online bookstore and turned into a behemoth that sells just about everything. In the process one of the world’s richest people.

Josh Duhamel Officially Starring in Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Shotgun Wedding’ Movie
Tumblr media

Armie Hammer out.
Josh Duhamel in.
Lionsgate announced on Tuesday that Josh is officially starring in J Lo’s “Shotgun Wedding” movie H/T ET.
Via ET:
"We couldn’t be happier for our bride and groom of this Shotgun Wedding," Erin Westerman, president of production for the Lionsgate Motion Pictures Group, said in a press release. "We know Josh and Jennifer will make a compelling and sexy on-screen couple and they will be fun sparring partners as their dream destination wedding erupts into a memorable nightmare."
In addition to Duhamel's casting news, Lionsgate announced that Sonia Braga will play Lopez’s character’s mother, with Jennifer Coolidge playing Duhamel’s character’s mom.
"We are also thrilled to bring Jennifer and Sonia on to our cast as Mothers of the Bride and Groom," Westerman said. "Their acting and comedic talents will add another fun layer to this already-rich action-comedy."
The film centers on a couple who gather their very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the pair begins to get cold feet.
Hammer was originally cast in the rom-com, but announced in January that he decided to step down from the role after private messages that appeared to be written by him went viral. In the alleged DMs --which have not been confirmed were authored by Hammer -- graphic sexual fantasies are described, some with references to cannibalism.
In a statement to ET about the scandal, Hammer said, "I'm not responding to these bulls**t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I'm grateful to them for that."
A production spokesman for the film also told ET in a statement, "Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision."
Meanwhile, a source recently told ET that Hammer's social media scandal has left his ex, Elizabeth Chambers, stunned. The two split in July after 10 years of marriage and share two children -- 6-year-old daughter Harper and 4-year-old son Ford.
"Her first priority, as always, are their children and trying to protect them from this news and make sure that they feel safe and secure," the source continued. "She does not want them to be traumatized by everything going on."
In a statement posted to Instagram on Monday, Chambers wrote that she's "been trying to process everything that has transpired."
"I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters. I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know," she wrote. "I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal."
"My sole focus and attention will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this incredibly difficult time," she wrote. "Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward."
Good luck, Josh.

Mike Lindell got a strike 1 now hit with strike 2 with a full ban on Twitter here’s why.
Per New York Post the My Pillow CEO got banned from the social media after he used to circumvent it’s own who was perinatally suspended after the bogus election fraud claims.
Via NY Post:
“Thank you to everyone who has supported MyPillow during this time…..Jack Dorsey is trying to cancel me (Mike Lindell) out!” the company tweeted Sunday, referring to Twitter’s chief executive.
“We are extremely busy and hiring as fast as we can to handle all the shipping!” the post added. “Jack will be found out and should be put in prison when all is revealed!”
The My Pillow account also promoted Lindell’s Monday appearance on a radio show where he planned to discuss his bogus conspiracy theory about voting machines being tampered with to sway the 2020 election in President Biden’s favor, according to screenshots captured by another Twitter user.
My Pillow did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday, but Lindell condemned Twitter’s decision in an interview with USA Today.
“I can’t believe they’re doing this to my company,” he told the outlet. “They’re out to destroy me.”
Lindell — a staunch ally of ex-president Donald Trump — spread baseless election fraud rumors on his own Twitter account as well as My Pillow’s before Twitter permanently suspended him for violating its civic integrity policy.
Dominion Voting Systems has threatened Lindell with a lawsuit for falsely accusing the company of “stealing millions of votes.”
Per USA Today My Pillow had also used its account to promote products with a memoir, “What Are the Odds.” The account had about 41,700 followers.

Hal Holbrook, Tony & Emmy Winning Actor Dead at 95
Tumblr media
Getty
Hal Holbrook who won a Tony and Emmy award for his role as Mark Twain has died.
He was 95.
Halbrook’s personal assistant, Joyce Cohen, confirmed his death to New York Times, Monday night via Variety.
Via Variety:
Holbrook played the American novelist in a solo show called “Mark Twain Tonight!” that he directed himself and for which he won the best actor Tony in 1966. He returned to Broadway with the show in 1977 and 2005 and appeared in it more than 2,200 times (as of 2010) in legit venues across the country. He began performing the show in 1954.
He received an Emmy nomination for a TV adaptation of “Mark Twain Tonight!” in 1967, the first of multiple noms. He won four Emmy Awards.
Holbrook’s craggy voice and appearance lent itself to historical portrayals and other parts that required gravitas. Indeed, he also played Abraham Lincoln, winning an Emmy in 1976 for the NBC miniseries “Lincoln” and reprising the role in the ABC miniseries “North and South” in 1985 and its sequel the following year. Moreover he won his first Emmy, in 1970, for his role as the title character in the brief but highly regarded series “The Bold Ones: The Senator.” He played the commander-in-chief in 1980 film “The Kidnapping of the President”; a senior judge tempted into vigilante justice in “The Star Chamber”; and John Adams in the 1984 miniseries “George Washington.” Much later, he played the assistant secretary of state on a couple of episodes of “The West Wing,” and most recently he played a conservative Republican congressman in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” and a judge in the 2013 historical drama “Savannah.”
In 1978 he was nominated for an Emmy for his role in a TV adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” as the Stage Manager, another role with which he is strongly associated.
Earlier, he drew an Emmy nomination for a noted role as a man who reveals his homosexuality to his son, played by Martin Sheen, in the ahead-of-its-time ABC 1972 telepic “That Certain Summer.”
He recurred on the late ’80s Linda Bloodworth sitcom “Designing Women” as the boyfriend to his real-life wife, Dixie Carter; his character on that show was killed off so he could take one of the starring roles in another CBS-Bloodworth effort, the Burt Reynolds starrer “Evening Shade,” in which he played Reynolds’ irascible father-in-law. He appeared in 79 episodes of the show from 1990-94.
Holbrook also directed four episodes of “Designing Women.”
In 2006 the actor guested on “The Sopranos” as a terminally ill patient who imparts some wisdom to the hospitalized Tony Soprano.
Holbrook’s inimitable voice, full of a world-weary integrity, was inevitably attractive to documentary makers and feature film directors requiring narration or voiceover. He narrated docus such as “The Might Mississippi” and “The Cultivated Life: Thomas Jefferson and Wine” and movies including 2011’s “Water for Elephants.” He won an Emmy in 1989 for narrating the “Alaska” segment of the “Portrait of America” documentary series.
The actor made a deep impression on the bigscreen as well, playing Deep Throat in “All the President’s Men” — it was he who intoned the famous words “Follow the money!”; a power-mad police lieutenant in the Dirty Harry movie “Magnum Force”; and, in a brief and underappreciated performance, a stockbroker warning of the dangers of ethical lapses in Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street.”
Harold Rowe “Hal” Holbrook, Jr. was born in Cleveland; his mother was a vaudeville dancer. He was raised in South Weymouth, Mass., and graduated from Ohio’s Denison U., where an honors project about Twain led him to develop “Mark Twain Tonight.” Serving in the Army in WWII, Holbrook was stationed in Newfoundland, where he performed in theater productions including the play “Madam Precious.”
Ed Sullivan saw him perform “Mark Twain Tonight” and gave the young thesp his first national exposure on his television show in February 1956.
Holbrook was a member of summer stock legit troupe the Valley Players, based in Holyoke, Mass., and opened its 1957 season with a perf of “Mark Twain Tonight.” The State Dept. sent him on a tour of Europe that included appearances behind the Iron Curtain, and Holbrook first played the role Off Broadway in 1959. Columbia Records recorded an album of excerpts from the show.
On Broadway, Holbrook played the role of the Major in the original production of Arthur Miller’s “Incident at Vichy” in 1964. In 1968 he was one of the replacements for Richard Kiley in the original Broadway production of “Man of La Mancha” despite limited ability as a singer.
As Holbrook approached his mid-80s, he remained a busy actor, including multi-episode appearances on FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” and NBC’s “The Event.” In 2011 he was also in an independent film, the thriller “Good Day for It,” in whose conception he was intimately involved, and he appeared as a science teacher who knows the truth in Gus Van Sant’s anti-fracking film “Promised Land.”
Holbrook’s memoir “Harold: The Boy Who Became Mark Twain” was published in September 2011.
In 2014, Holbrook was the subject of the documentary “Holbrook/Twain: An American Odyssey,” directed by Scott Teems, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and depicted Holbrook’s career portraying Twain. Holbrook appeared as Red Hudmore on the final season of “Bones” in 2017, and appeared in an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Hawaii Five-0” that same year. In September 2017, Holbrook announced his retirement from “Mark Twain Tonight.”
Holbrook was married three times. He and Carter were married in 1984 and remained together until her death in 2010.

Sorry Donald Trump you got turned down NOT once but TWICE thanks to Dolly Parton and here’s why.
The queen of Country revealed to TODAY on Monday that she turned down the Presidential Medal of Freedom two times from Trump.
Via TODAY:
"I couldn't accept it because my husband was ill and then they asked me again about it and I wouldn't travel because of the COVID," she explained, adding that she has since heard from President Joe Biden about the award as well. "Now I feel like if I take it, I'll be doing politics, so I'm not sure."
"But I don't work for those awards," she continued. "It'd be nice but I'm not sure that I even deserve it. But it's a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it."
"I think everyone thinks you might deserve it," TODAY's Hoda Kotb reassured her.
Since 1995, the "Jolene" singer has run Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a literacy program that's donated more than 100 million children's books in the past 26 years. In 2016, her Dollywood Foundation donated $1,000 per month to several hundred families in East Tennessee that lost their homes to wildfires.
She also donated $1 million to help fund coronavirus research at Vanderbilt University, which helped make the Moderna vaccine.
"I'm just happy that anything I do can help somebody else, and when I donated the money to the COVID fund, I just wanted it to do good," she told TODAY last November. "Evidently, it is."
In an interview last fall, former President Barack Obama said he should have given the singer the prestigious award.
"How does Dolly Parton not have a presidential medal of freedom?" Comedian Stephen Colbert asked Obama.
"That's a mistake. I'm shocked," the former president replied. "Actually, that was a screwup, I'm surprised. I think I assumed that she'd already got one and that was incorrect. I'm surprised, she deserves one."
He added that he planned to "call Biden," a promise he seemingly kept his word on, given that Parton said she'd heard from the current president already — even though his administration just took office on Jan. 20.
Throughout his presidency, Obama gave the award to several musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Gloria Estefan and Barbra Streisand.
During his administration, Trump bestowed only one musician with the Presidential Medal of Freedom: the late Elvis Presley. Nearly two weeks into his administration, Biden has not given out any of the awards.
The full interview airs Tuesday morning on “Today” on NBC.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says she thought she was going to die during the Capitol riot and also dropped a bombshell.
During her Monday night Instagram live appearance on the Congresswoman from Bronx also revealed she a sexual assault survivor.

Via BBC:
In an Instagram Live on Monday night, the 31-year-old disclosed little about her sexual assault ordeal, but said: "When we go through trauma, trauma compounds on each other."
She blasted conservative Republicans like Texas Senator Ted Cruz for denying what she described as their responsibility for the storming of the Capitol complex, which left five people dead.
After Mr Cruz last week agreed with Ms Ocasio-Cortez on a policy matter, she lashed out: "You almost had me murdered three weeks ago so you can sit this one out."
In Monday night's Instagram Live, she assailed Chip Roy, a Texas congressman, for demanding she apologise to Mr Cruz.
"These are the tactics of abusers," she said during the broadcast to 150,000 or so viewers. "Or rather, these are the tactics that abusers use.
"And so when I see this happen, how I feel, how I felt was: 'Not again.' I'm not going to let this happen again. I'm not going to let it happen to me again. I'm not going to let it happen to the other people who've been victimised by this situation again. And I'm not going to let this happen to our country. We're not going to let it happen."
'Move on'
She also singled out Senator Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican, who joined Mr Cruz in challenging the results of November's presidential election amid debunked claims from now-former President Donald Trump that the vote had been stolen.
A pro-Trump mob broke into the Capitol on 6 January as lawmakers gathered to certify President Joe Biden's election victory, and Ms Ocasio-Cortez described the ensuing mayhem as like a "zombie movie".
During her Instagram Live, she said: "We cannot move on without accountability. We cannot heal without accountability. All these people telling us to move on are doing so at their own convenience."
She added: "The folks who are saying, 'We should move on,' 'We shouldn't have accountability,' et cetera, are saying: 'Can you just forget about this so we can, you know, do it again?'"
Ms Ocasio-Cortez described hiding in her bathroom at her congressional office during the chaos of the Capitol riot last month.
"I thought I was going to die," she said.
She recounted how she concealed herself behind the bathroom door, and glimpsed a white man storming into her office, shouting: "Where is she? Where is she?"
The congresswoman said it was a Capitol Police officer, but he looked at her with "anger and hostility" and did not identify himself as a member of law enforcement.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez said she and her staff did not know whether the officer was there to "help us, or hurt us".
he continued: "For so many people out there if you have experienced any sort of trauma, like just the fact of recognising that and admitting it is already a huge step.
"Especially in a world where people are constantly trying to tell you that you didn't experience what you experienced or that you're lying.
"Or that, you know, those are additional traumas on top of what you've already experienced, right, if you're a survivor of abuse, of neglect, of verbal abuse, of sexual assault, you know, et cetera, there's the trauma of going through what you went through.
"And then there's the trauma afterwards of people not believing you, or trying to publicly humiliate you, or trying to embarrass you.
"And that also gets internalised, too, because a lot of times you don't want to believe it either.
"You don't want to think that that happened to you. You don't want to think that X person hurt you.
"You don't want to admit that you were a person who has been abused, assaulted, et cetera, because you don't want to be 'a victim', right?"
'Are they going to believe you?'
Ms Ocasio-Cortez said she was prepared for criticism after sharing her sexual assault ordeal because it was not directly related to the Capitol riot.
"People are going to say that, 'Oh, she's just trying to make it about her,'" she said.
"And, like, all of those normal, nagging thoughts. And, like I said, all of your traumas can intersect and interact."
She said Congress had made counsellors available for lawmakers, especially those who had encountered rioters, in order to help them process the ordeal.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez added: "Those folks who are just trying to tell us to move on are just like pulling the page, they're using the same tactics of every other abuser who just tells you to move on.
"That man who touched you inappropriately at work, telling you to move on. Are they going to believe you?
"Or the adult who, you know, if they hurt you when you were a child and you grow up and you confront them about it and they try to tell you that what happened never happened."

‘The Bachelor’ Recap: Matt James Falls in Love with Rachael
youtube
Matt James appears to found his love and here’s why.
During Monday night’s episode Matt quickly fell in love with Rachael and she admitted she had butterflies in her stomach.
Via NY Post:
Our boy also had two women tell him they’re “falling in love with him.” I think it’s a little early for that, but as long as you’re not lying about another woman being an escort, be my guest.
Welcome to Week 5 on “The Bachelor.”
The cocktail party
This wasn’t so much of a party as it was an exorcism. After Katie tipped Matt off that Anna spread a rumor that Brittany was an escort, he was determined to get to the bottom of the drama. “If you have to belittle someone else to let you shine, that’s not the characteristics I’m looking for in my life,” he told the women, before starting an investigation.
First, he took Brittany aside. She instantly broke down in tears. “My mom watches this show, this could ruin my entire life,” she told Matt, shaken by the way she’s been treated. The Bachelor consoled her, and then went to find Anna.
“I said something rude about Brittany. The fact that that bites me in the butt now?” said Anna, failing to acknowledge the consequences of her actions. She apologized, but Matt told her plain and simple that he needs to make a safe space for all the women, and her words caused pain. He sent her home.
Next, he pulled Ryan aside, who spoke about her unfortunate interactions with Victoria, the apparent house bully who called Ryan a hoe, and shot her down for not being one of the original cast members. Matt was angry. Even though it was staring him in the face, he never noticed this side of Queen V before.
When he confronted Victoria about the takedown, she said her words were “taken out of context.” “What context would calling somebody a hoe be taken in?” he retorted.
Thankfully, she got sent home too. Unfortunately, so did some really great women: Catalina, Lauren and Mari.
The first one-on-one
Matt took Rachael to shop ’til she drops. She got to take home bags of dresses and gowns and wonderful shiny things. He gave her a Cinderella moment, slipping a red-bottomed Louboutin sandal on her feet.
Over dinner, Rachael talked to Matt about how insecure she’s been in past relationships, and how it’s difficult for her to open up. “I really am already completely falling in love with you, I want to walk out of here with you and I want to start my life with you,” she revealed. “You’re not crazy, because I feel the same way,” he said back. They smooched.
The group date
Abigail, Bri, Brittany, Chelsea, Katie, Jessenia, Magi, Michelle, MJ, Pieper, Ryan, and Serenas C. and P. had a less glamourous group date. In true Pennsylvania fashion, they got down and dirty on a farm. There was lots of mudslinging and chicken holding.
At the after party, Matt and Chelsea kissed after he told her “he’s really happy she’s here.” Abigail, who got the first-impression rose, spoke to Matt about her family troubles, and how her children may one day be deaf like herself. Michelle also got a kiss. “I feel what you’re feeling,” he told her.
Matt pulled MJ aside to let her know that some women had called her divisive. She denied it, and called out the rest of the women on the date to fess up. Jessenia stood up, and told MJ she made other women feel uncomfortable for making fun of the new girls. Katie backed her up, and MJ deflected, big time.
The date rose went to Abigail.
The second one-on-one
Young’un Kit Keenan was asked over to Matt’s for dinner. She had told him that her happy place was in the kitchen with her mom (designer Cynthia Rowley), and was brought to tears that he remembered.
The lovers whipped up some chocolate chip cookies in between kissing. Kit spoke to him about how tough it was for her to grow up in the public eye and the difficulty she has letting her walls down. She also said that she’s falling in love with Matt — though he didn’t say it back like he did to Rachael.
The cocktail party
Matt sent a note asking Jessenia and MJ to come early, wondering what “the truth” is about the drama in the house.
Before Matt showed up, the two of them went at it. Jessenia pointed out that MJ derisively coined the terms “JV” and “varsity” about the women in the house, and accused her of putting on different personalities on camera versus with Matt), MJ lied through her teeth (that she’s all about peace and harmony). We’ll see what Matt thinks next week.
As they say love is in the air.
