herdirtylittleheart:

I鈥檝e been having trouble sleeping lately so I stay up and watch nature documentaries to remind myself there鈥檚 lots of wonder in the world. I鈥檝e heard of pika鈥檚 before, but not the North American pika that lives in the Rocky Mountains. These little floofs spend the summer collecting stockpiles of flowers and sweet grasses for winter snacking, and shout really loudly when they鈥檝e been wronged by others.

Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)

The plateau pika is a species of mammal in the pika family, Ochotonidae. It is a small diurnal and non-hibernating mammal weighing about 140 g when fully grown. They prefer to live in elevations of 3,100 to 5,000 m, mostly in the Tibetan Plateau, which is where the common name originates from. The species is found in China, Pakistan, India, and Nepal in high alpine deserts, steppe and meadows, as well as tropical and subtropical montane forests. Plateau pikas are considered to be a keystone species as they play a role in recycling nutrients in soil, providing food to predators such as; foxes, weasels, falcons, Asia pole cat, upland buzzard, and owls. They also provide microhabitats by increasing plant richness and their burrows provides nests for small birds and reptiles.

friendly reminder to all liberals that I鈥檓 accepting 1k checks to vote however you鈥檇 like me to in the general and will not be participating otherwise. don鈥檛 let a little money stand in the way of your candidate鈥檚 success. not giving me a thousand dollars is the same as voting for the opposition
