Male reader and Luca the selkie part 3.
*Sorry for not posting this sooner, I’ve been having family issues and been struggling to find the right ending. I wanted it to go one way but it didn’t feel right so I had to rewrite it. Thank you for waiting, all feedback is welcome and without anymore waiting here’s part 3.*
warning, slight mention of blood.
(Y/n)'s pov:
Sitting in the front room, I glance at all the photos lining the walls and smile at the ones I recognise. Happy memories rush into my mind as I go from photo to photo. As I look away mum shambles into the room holding a tray of drinks with Jackson following behind trying to help. Setting the tray down, mum sits down as close to me as possible with the widest smile on her face. "I can't believe you're finally home." She whispers, tearing up again. Turning around to face her, i smile slightly "I know, this feels like a dream." Jackson sits on one of the chairs close by and nods his head in agreement.
We sit here for what feels like hours talking to each other and reminiscing about when I was younger. Not realising how late it is we jump as the clock on the wall chimes for 7pm. Mum gets up with a frown and puts the empty cups on the tray. "I'm going to get started on a special welcome back dinner. Jackson can you show (Y/n) to his room?" mum asks heading towards the kitchen. "Yes mum." Jackson answers grabbing one of my bags. "How have you been?" I ask Jackson as we head upstairs. Jackson shrugs and lifts the duffel bag higher up on his shoulder and says "I've been doing good."
"You're staying in your old room but I've added some new things to liven up the place." Jackson says as we reach the bedroom door. Opening the door I whistle in amazement at the furniture he made and the effort he put in. "You did all this?" I ask in shock looking at a handmade bed, desk and chair. Jackson smiles and sets the bag he was holding down "After you left I had to find a hobby and i got really into wood work.". Placing my second bag down I start to check out the rest of the room.
Jackson frowns in concern and crosses his arms "He's still here you know" He says. Freezing, I glance at him only to grab one of the bags to put away. "I guessed as much. Why is he finally letting me come back?" I ask while unpacking. Jackson sighs and slowly shakes his head. "I don't know but me and mum have been waiting for this day for years." I finish unpacking, push the bags under the bed and turn to face Jackson. "You do know I'm only here for two weeks right?" I comment causing Jackson face to crumple.
"Don't remind me. It took mum over a week to get dad to let you stay for a day let alone two weeks." Jackson growls while looking at the floor. "You both could have visited me at anytime. Why didn't you?" I ask the question that's been on my mind since I arrived. Jackson quickly looked back at me and opened his mouth to say something only to close his mouth. Jackson quickly closes the bedroom door, moves towards the bed and sits next to me on the bed.
"I'm going to tell you the truth. For years I tried to visit you but as soon as dad hears your name he would get angry. As soon as I learnt how to drive I though about finding you but he wouldn't tell me where you live." Jackson whispered, shoulders slumping in defeat. Getting up, I move towards a small bookcase in the corner staying quiet. Scanning the shelves I find an old colouring book i grab it and tear out a page. Jackson stares on in confusion as I head to the desk and grab a pen. Wrighting down my address I hand the paper to him and say "It's my address, I don't get good signal at home so I prefer to communicate by letter. Keep it hidden and visit or write any time.". Jackson nods his head and quickly folds the paper up and shoves it in his pocket.
 3rd person pov:
Ella called the boys down for dinner and starts to set the table with a smile on her face. Jackson was slightly pushing (Y/n) into the room laughing at how easy it was to move (Y/n) despite him digging in his heals. Ella beamed as the boys sat down next to each other and filled their glasses with water. There was a buzz in the air as Jackson and (Y/n) joked about and Ella happily dished out the specially made food. Suddenly, like a heavy downpour. Dread filled the room as the front door was opened and slammed shut.
All joy was stripped from the room as Malcolm entered the kitchen but staying in the doorway. Malcolm's eyes swept the room, slowly moving from person to person until he saw (Y/n). Almost glaring, Malcolm moved to the table and sat down making sure to keep his gaze focused on him. No one dared to move as he started to slowly eat. Ella jumps up and quickly opens the fridge to hand him a beer. Jackson looks down in disgust and clenches his fists around his cutlery while Ella gently placed the beer down.
Staring at Malcolm, (Y/n) notices that he really hasn't aged well. Malcolm has lost nearly all his hair, gotten a beer belly and has big dark bags under his eyes. Suddenly, a loud bang rings through the are due to Malcolm slamming his cutlery down on the table. "You got something to say boy?" He asks with a glare. Frowning, (Y/n) shakes his head and slowly starts to eat while feeling Malcolm's glare burn into his flesh.
All through the meal Ella went to the fridge to get Malcolm beer and no one dared to speak a word. (Y/n) looked around the table finally realised that this house will never be what he remembered from his childhood. The first to leave the table was Jackson who ended up shovelling the food into his mouth to get away where as Ella stayed behind to make sure Malcolm had enough to drink. Both (Y/n) and Malcom finished their dinner at the same time but before anything could be said Ella pushes (y/n) out the room with the comment about how tired he must be.
For the first week (Y/n) ended up helping Jackson around the farm as best as he could until Ella asked him for help with her tasks. Each meal started to get worse and worse. Ella ends up bearly gets a chance to eat until Malcolm asks for more beer while Jackson tried to help by swapping seats with (Y/n) to keep them apart. But no matter where (Y/n) moved Malcolm would keep his gaze locked squarely on him. At the end of the week everyone is on edge unsure when and if Malcom will get fed up and snap. On the first night of the second week (Y/n) wakes up with a start during the night.
Nightmares have plagued (Y/n) for as long as he could remember but since he came back to the farm they happen nearly every night. Quietly, (Y/n) leaves his bed and exits the room to get himself a glass of water. Pausing at the living room door, (Y/n) peers in and notices Malcolm passed out on the sofa with the old TV still on. Continuing to the kitchen (Y/n) shuffles passed the basement door only to freeze in shock. The basement door was unlocked. For the first time in his visit the door was unlocked. Glancing around (Y/n) slowly opened the door and sneaked in making sure to close it behind him.
(Y/n)'s pov:
Inching down the stairs I run my hand along the wall to try and find a light switch. As I reach the bottom I almost trip on something laying on the floor in the dark. Finally, I find a light switch and flick it only to flinch at how bright the light is. I look behind me and freeze in horror. There at the bottom of the stairs lays a bone. Slowly turning, I step back in fear. Dried blood stains paint the floor and walls, bones litter the place and a rust chain is stretched along the ground. At the end of the chain was a black coloured lump in the corner of the room.
It feels like minutes pass as I Stare at the lump on the ground afraid to move. Taking a deep breath, I slowly make my way further into the room. Before I can make it even half way the lump starts to shudder and growl. I raise my hands and back away to give whatever it is some space only for the growling to grow louder. The lump lunges forwards, grabbing my legs and forcing me to the floor.
Gasping in horror, Black hair covers my eyes as the thing climbs on to of me and pins me to the ground. Carefully I move my hand towards the hair, stopping every time the thing growls and continue once it quiets down. Moving the hair aside I blink in shock. It wasn't a thing on me, It's a person. The reason I couldn't see them was because their hair was matted and long.
The person has long matted hair black as night, Dark brown eyes glaring at me with a snarl on their face showing off sharp looking teeth. I lower my gaze only to blush a dark shade of red and snap my head to the side. The person... He's naked. He jerked my head back to face him and his eyes soften slightly. Following his gaze I flinch and push him away. Running to and up the stairs I cover the part of my face with the scar deciding to forget the glass of water. I run back to my room and jump back into bed hoping it's just a dream.
The sun rises with the roasters caw and I stare at the ceiling remembering what happened only hours ago. There’s a knock at the door and Jackson peers in "You helping me with the cows today?" Jackson asks while I sit up. "Yeah, give me a minute." I  mumble and head towards the wardrobe after Jackson shuts the door. 'Should I tell him what happened?' I think while getting dressed. Before I leave the room I grab my hat and angle it to cover my scar. Grabbing an apple from the kitchen I head outside quickly trying not to look at the basement door.
As I reach the barn Jackson picks up two pitch forks and hands me one with a grin on his face. ”Today we’re mucking out the cows area while their grazing” Jackson opens the door steps inside. Following him inside I frown at how it looks. Broken windows, holes in the roof and stall doors of their hinges. “Is it OK for the cows to be in here?” I ask watching Jackson let the cows outside. He frowns and starts getting to work. “I’ve talked to dad but there’s no chance of him doing anything. All he does is drink, sleep and whatever in the basement.”
3rd pov:
(Y/N) and Jackson get to work occasional making jokes and getting the job finished faster then expected. The two men head back to the house only to stop seeing Ella sitting on the porch steps covering her ears. Jackson crouches down and startles her so much that she jumps. She looks at her boys, shakes her head and Jackson instantly gets the idea. He stands back up and directs (Y/N) away from the house. “I want to show you something.” Jackson pulls (Y/N) towards the back pasture. Frowning, (Y/N) looks back at the house as he’s lead away.
They spent the day away from the house, Jackson showing (Y/N) his workshop and what he’s working on. Hours later Ella called the boys back to the house for dinner and the whole meal is eaten in silence, the only difference being Malcolm looking a bit calmer. Jackson again finishes fast and quickly leaves, Ella barely eats and Malcolm gets drunk. Later that night (Y/N) gets up determined to find out if the basement creature is real or if he was seeing things. Sneaking downstairs, (Y/N) finds Malcolm past out in the living room again and heads to the basement only to find the door locked. Walking back to the stairs (Y/N) stops seeing the keys on the living room table next to Malcolm's boot covered feet. Taking a deep breath in he moves into the room, stands next to the table and slowly leans down reaching for the keys.
Suddenly, Malcolm makes a noise and shuffles in his sleep causing (Y/N) to flinch before snatching the keys up.  Standing still, he waits for Malcolm to wake up with baited breath only for him to settle in his sleep. (Y/N) heads to the basement door and unlocks the locks as quietly as possible. With that done, he sneaks down the stairs not seeing anything. At the bottom he spots the black lump in a corner taking slow laboured breaths. Moving quickly (Y/N) reaches the lump, bends down and moves some hair seeing a bruised figure glaring up at him.
Standing back up (Y/N) leaves the basement, goes to his truck and grabs his emergency first aid kit to bring back to the person. He goes back into the basement to find the person sitting up and snarling with teeth bared watching his every move. (Y/N) slowly approaches as not to startle him, stopping when the snarls get louder and continuing when it gets quieter.
(Y/N)’s pov:
“What happened to him? Who did this? Surely not dad?” more and more questions keep coming into my mind seeing this man looking horrible. I croutch down, place the first aid kit and open it. Glancing towards the person my eyes jump from injury to injury grabbing everything I need and setting it aside. I grab a cloth and before I can get started the man lunges forward knocking me backwards. Looking up, he snarls louder getting closer to my face causing me to panic. “Run.” He rasps out in a horse voice. Moving backwards till he ends up back in the corner leaving me on the floor.
Gulping for air, I slowly sit up to face the person and look back at the stairs. Instead of leaving I shuffle closer and grab the first aid equipment “No.” I say wetting the cloth with disinfectant. I gently grab an arm and wipe all the injuries in sight “Does it hurt anywhere else?” I ask turning to grab a bandage. He frowns looking down at me in confusion “what are you doing?” He asks as I wrap up his arm. “Trying to help.” I respond before starting on the other arm. He looks away, not flinching when I touch a horrible looking bruise.
Finishing as best as possible “Can you stand?” I ask packing everything away. He looks confused and watches my every movement before responding “Why?”. I rise looking around for anything to break the chain with. “I’m getting you out of here, how can anyone do this?” not finding anything I follow the chain. He leans his head back and frowns “I can’t leave.” He mumbles. “of course you can.” I reply finding the end only for it to be impossible to move. “I can’t leave, not without my Skin.” He says louder causing me to freeze.
“Skin?” I ask, turning around catching his gaze. He flashes his sharp teeth, and I notice he has sharp nails. Stepping back, all I can think of is the stories that grandfather told me and all I can whisper out is one word, “Selkie”. He nods slightly “Been a while since I heard that. All the man calls me is Monster but at least the lady calls me Grey.” What he says causes me to freeze as horror fills my body, dad I can picture but not her. “She didn’t hurt you did she?” I struggle to ask almost not wanting to hear the answer.
He shakes his head slowly “No, she’s nice. She gives me food and water.” At his response I slouch in relief with him giving me a curious look. “You know them?” It’s his turn to ask. I sit back down, look away and rub the back of my neck. “The lady is my mum and the man is… my father.” I flinch at the word father not wanting to think of him. He blinks slowly, eyes scrunching up to get a better look at my face. “Your father took my skin.” His gaze staying on my face as I turn to him, recognition flashes in his eyes as quickly as it left. “If I find your skin and give it to you can you leave?” I ask only for him to nod his head as a response. I stand up, grab the first aid and before I can reach the stairs he says one more thing before I leave, “My names Luca.” I glance back at him and in the angle causes my scar to be visible “I’m (Y/N).” I reply and finally leave.
3rd pov:
(Y/N) gets into bed and struggles to fall asleep making plans on how to free Luca.  He’s only going to be here for one more week and in that week he has to find the skin, undo the chain and sneak Luca away without Malcolm finding out. By the time the rooster crows (Y/N) Barely got an hours sleep, He stumbles down stairs and slumps into a kitchen chair. Ella and Jackson glance at him in concern but before Jackson can say anything Ella shoos him away. Ella sits next to (Y/N) and hands him a glass of water, “Is your head OK? Leg hurting?” She asked frowning. He turns to her and she can tell its about something serious. “Mum…  I know” (Y/N) mumbles causing Ella to freeze, speechless.
“I went into the basement…” Before (Y/N) could continue Ella jumped up and closed every open door and window. “Why?” (Y/N) Asked Ella, her slowly sitting down across from him. She opened and closed her mouth a couple of times before finally finding the right words. “I don’t know. I’ve tried to help but your father.. He...” Ella frowns hands shaking in fear. (Y/N) reached forward and gently cupped her hands trying to sooth her as best as possible. “Your father brought him here years ago, I begged him to let him go but he refused.” Ella sobbed as (Y/N) got up to give her a hug.
“Did he bring anything else with him?” (Y/N) asked leaning back to look at Ella. She sniffled and stared back in confusion. (Y/N) takes a deep breath and continues. “Did he bring any skin with him? I need it to help free Luca.” Ella jolts back in horror. “You can’t! Your father will go crazy!” She shouts and turns away. (Y/N) follows her trying to be calm. “He won’t find out until after I’m gone. He doesn’t know where I live any more any he won’t know you’re involved but I need that animal skin. Please.” He pleads to his mother’s back.
“I finally get to see you again. If we free him then you’ll never be able to come back without your father going ballistic.” Ella whispers gripping the kitchen counter. (Y/N) nods his head only to be shocked by the word “we”. “Jackson has my new address, you can send me letters and visit.” He responds only for her to shake her head knowing it’ll never happen. “We both know you’re father won’t let me leave the farm.” Ella turns around “I’m not sure about the skin, maybe Jackson might know.” She finishes. (Y/N) gives her a confident but shaky smile. “We’ll ask him. We’ve got just under a week to find it.” he hugs her as they set the plan in motion.
As Ella distracts their father (Y/N) talks to Jackson about everything going on and explains that he needs help. At first Jackson thinks (Y/N)’s old head injury is acting up, then thinks he’s crazy and finally with a lot of begging agrees to help search for the animal skin. Days go by with the three working together in looking for the skin while working on the farm and trying not to give anything away to Malcolm. Two days before (Y/N) has to leave Jackson bursts into his bedroom with a big grin on his face “I found It!” He exclaims in excitement.
Together they head behind the house to the dog kennels with the dogs barking all around them. “I was checking on buttercup and found It lying there.” Jackson proudly states opening a kennel that housed an old Rough Collie. As Jackson started giving Buttercup pats (Y/N) looks in the dog house and there on the ground was a rough looking seal skin. Frowning he picks it up trying to shake off as much dirt as possible. Buttercup gives a sad whine and Jackson leads (Y/N) out the kennel. “I’ll get her something new to sleep on and a treat. Good luck hiding that.” Jackson shuts the gate and heads inside leaving (Y/N) looking at the seal skin.
Dinner that night is one of the easiest that it’s been in the entire stay. Ella keeps surplying Malcolm with his favourite beer, Jackson slows down while eating and (Y/N) manages to eat without feeling eyes burning into his skin. When the last light turned off and at around midnight (Y/N) made a familiar journey down into the basement excited to tell Luca the good news. As he stepped on the last step (Y/N) couldn’t keep the grin of his face which confused Luca.
“Why do you look like that?” Luca asked, tilting his head in confusion. (Y/N) sat down in front of him pulling out the first aid box to clean any injuries. “Tomorrow night we’re leaving. I found your skin.” (Y/N) watched Luca for his reaction. At first Luca looked shocked then his face turned into an angry scowl. “you think this is a joke?” He growls causing (Y/N) to pause. (Y/N) shakes his head and tries to calm Luca down. “I’m not joking. We found your skin, It’s light grey with black spots.” With that confession Luca finally calms down only to look blankly at (Y/N). “You actually found it… I’m going to be free…” Luca mutters in surprise.
(Y/N) cleans the last of the injuries telling Luca everything he can about what it’s like outside right now. What season it is, the weather and  Which birds are nesting near by. Luca listens to everything eagerly, commenting on the things he liked the sound of and what he was going to enjoy. Without noticing the two ended up sitting side by side, leaning against a wall staring up at a small window near the basement roof talking the rest of the night away. Before (Y/N) had to leave back upstairs Luca stopped him with a quick hug causing (Y/N) to freeze fore a second before relaxing into it.
The day went by almost to slowly for everyone's liking. Jackson came up with the two of them needing to fix one of the dog kennels as an excuse to get their hands on a pair of chain cutters. Instead of fixing anything they ended up sitting together in Buttercups kennel playing with her and spending as much time as possible together. Before long Ella arrived to drag (Y/N) away to spend as much time together as she could before he leaves. Ella taught him some family recipes and wrote them down so he could remember her cooking. Before long it was time for dinner and everyone was a combination of nervous, excited and dread.
Malcolm continued like nothing was happening and didn’t even bother talking to (Y/N) as Ella talked about missing him when he leaves. This time Malcolm finished early and before he left the room he turned and said one thing to (Y/N). “Make sure you’re gone by sun up.” He growled. Ella gasped in surprise, Jackson stood up in anger but (Y/n) held only his arm shaking his head. The three of them finished dinner together and (Y/N) headed upstairs to pack. As (Y/N) was finishing up both Ella and Jackson knocked on the door to be let in. Ella hands him a home made blanket where as Jackson hands him a wooden carved figure of Buttercup. (Y/N) hugged them both, helps Jackson calm their mum down so she does’nt cry and watches them head to bed.
(Y/N) grabs everything, quickly loads them into his truck and heads back inside tucking the animal skin under his shirt as not to have it seen. Along the way to the basement he picks up the bolt cutters he and Jackson stashed in the house and enters the basement. With every step you could feel the excitement rise as the plan was almost over. There Sitting as close to the stairs that he could due to the chain was Lucas. Worry was etched onto his face until he spotted (Y/N) reach the bottom step. “You’re actually doing it.” Lucas said in wonder as (Y/N) lifts up the cutters.
Trying with all his might (Y/N) managed to cut the chain causing it to fall to the ground with a loud clatter causing both men to freeze. Luca quickly tried to stand only to stumble nearly falling. (Y/N) caught him and handed him the seal skin. Tears came to Lucas eyes as he finally got to touch his seal skin after years. Slowly, they headed up the stairs so Luca wouldn't fall over before they got to safety. Finally reaching the top, they head to the front door only for a noise behind them to cause them to stop. With a quick look, (Y/N) paled and sped up with Luca slowly getting more stable on his feet.
Behind them Malcolm appeared behind them in a drunken haze only to spot the basement door open. His gaze swept from the basement door towards (Y/N) and Lucas. It was silent fo a second before he let out a loud bellow and started towards the.  Opening the door (Y/N) pushed Luca in front of him and they booked it towards the truck. Half way there (Y/N) felt excruciating pain in his ankle, stumbled and fall to the ground.
Luca turned to see (Y/N) curled up clutching his ankle in pain as Malcolm quickly advanced on him with his face red with anger. Without a second thought, Luca dropped his seal skin and lunged at Malcolm just as he reached for (Y/N). A scream of pain filled terror woke up Ella and Jackson causing them to rush outside. There was (Y/n) curled up in pain, Luca leaning over him snarling with blood on his nails and teeth an Malcolm laying on the ground clutching his chest. Jackson tried to help (Y/N) only for Luca to snarl at him and swipe at the air causing him to step back.
(Y/N) shakily reached up and turned Lucas face so they’re looking at each other “It’s OK, he wants to help.” Luca slowly relaxes. Jackson carefully moves closer and helps (Y/N) stand up. Before anyone can say anything else Malcolm groans and starts moving. Jackson helps (Y/n) into the drivers seat, shuts the door and steps back as Lucas jumps in clutching his seal skin. (Y/N) forces his foot on the peddle, speeding out of there as Malcolm sat up getting sprayed in gravel. Ella calls for an ambulance finally noticing he has blood on his shirt but Jackson stands there not offering any help to him.
(Y/N) pov:
It’s been a month since Luca and I finally made it to my house. Jackson has been sending letters about the farm, he’s started building a house near his workshop for him and Buttercup to live in. Mum has been a lot happier since we left as Malcolm has been on bed rest due to his injuries. She’s started talking about hiring help to fix the farm and possibly work there permanently.
Putting down the letters, I turn to see a seal pop it’s head up from the pond next to me. Slowly the seal comes closer and emerges from the water. Before my eyes the seal turns into a man with short black hair and brown eyes. He stalks closer using what look like seal skin to hide his waist. As he reaches me he leans down to stroke the scar on the side of my face causing me to blush. Slowly, I raise my hand up, cup the side of his face and bring him close. Leaning down he moves closer and our lips connect for a second only to part leaving our hands entangled together.
3rd pov:
Ella opens the door for the doctor and invites him inside the house. “Thank you for coming, he keeps complaining about his chest hurting.” Ella frowns, showing the doctor to the bedroom. The doctor opens the door and heads inside with Ella closing it behind him. Malcolm lays sleeping in bed as the doctor moves further into the room. He sets his bag down on the end table, opens it and looks up at Malcolm. “It’s nice to see you again, how long has it been? 20 years?” The doctor asks the unconscious man as he pulls out a purple book. The doctor flips through the pages and stops near the middle. The atmusfear in the room changes as the doctor starts to read from the script. Malcolm wakes up in horror to the curtains billowing, the bed shacking and the doctor standing over his bed chanting. Before he can say a word Malcolm feels sick and the doctor says the last word. Bright light fills the room which quickly dims down. There in the room is the doctor but where Malcolm once was a toad was left in its place. The doctor packed everything up, put the toad in a box and left the room. Reaching the front door, Ella smiled at him and opened the door. “Thank you for the visit Dr Reynolds on such short notice.” He smiled at her and shook his head. “No problem, Do let me know how it turns out and give little Jackson and (y/n) my best.” Dr Reynolds responds and leaves the house.

(y/n) = Your name
(y/n)’s pov:
Darkness, its everywhere. Every now and again I hear strange noises but I can’t see anyone. Some things touching me and the strange noises are getting louder and louder. “llo… llo… (n)… uo hear m…” the strange voice started slowly whisper until it got louder. I want to shout for help but It feels like some-ones taped my mouth shut. Something grabs onto my hand and starts to rub it like mum does when I’m scared. I want my mum, where is she? “s… squ… Squeeze… hand” the strange noise commands in a reassuring voice. I start trying to move my hand but It’s not working. I keep trying but nothings happening and slowly I start to feel really tired. “(y..).. (..n).. (y/n)… Squeeze… ums hand baby” The strange noise finally starts to turn into something.
“mum!” I try to shout but nothing comes out. Trying one more time I squeeze with all my might and feel my hand close a little around my mum's hand. Slowly I open my eyes only to shut them again quickly because of a bright light. Opining them again I look around to see a some strangers standing over me and squeeze my hand harder. Looking in the other direction I see mum but she looks different. She starts crying and cups both her hands around mine.
“hello, I’m Doctor Reynolds. Can you tell us your name please sweetie?” one of the strangers asks. I look over at mum to see if it was OK and she nods her head. “I’m (y/n)” you say and look away in embarrassment. One of the strangers starts to coo like our chickens as the other one looks at something. “Can you tell me how old you are?” Dr Reynolds ask again. Nodding, I show them my fingers and smile slightly “I’m seven and a half.” He looks at me and smiles a little while the other keeps making clucking sounds. “I’ve got one more question and then nurse Heeler will give you a check up ok?” Dr Reynolds asked as I nodded my head.
“do you remember what happened before waking up?” he asked. Opening my mouth to answer I froze. Frowning I look at mum in confusion then back at Dr Reynolds and nurse Heeler. “I was playing with our cat near the cows and then she started to go into the woods and I followed her.”I lied because mum gets sad when I wander off. mum frowns and squeezes my hand in reassurance as the stranger nods their head. “Do you remember anything else?” he ask and frown when I shake my head.
They start to write something down as nurse Heeler brings some scary things towards the bed. She explains what everything does and makes me laugh because her head bobs like a chicken while she concentrates. “(y/n) I need to talk to your mum outside for a second ok?” Dr Reynolds asks crouching down so their looking into my eyes. I quickly look at mum panicking and grab hold of her hand not wanting to let go. mum starts to shush me quickly and moves over to give me a hug. “It’s ok (y/n), your big brother will be here and he’ll protect you” She says motioning Jackson who puffed his chest out trying to look stronger. She slowly pried my hands off of hers and followed Dr Reynolds out of the room, turning to check on me before the door shut.
Jackson jumped onto the chair your mum was just in and reached over to pick up my hands in a gentle manner. Nurse Heeler started cooing at the sight of us which started to make me blush and Jackson to look away. She pulled over a cart with shiny items on it and picked up a file from a pocket on the side. “you two are the sweetest chickpeas I’ve ever seen.” Nurse Heeler cooed while picking up a stethoscope. Instructing me to lift up my shirt and with Jacksons help she check on my breathing. After a while the door opened and mum walked in slowly with a small smile on her face. Dr Reynolds followed her, shut the door and walked over just as nurse Heeler began packing up.
“Well (y/n), I have some good news” Dr Reynolds started “You can leave with your family in a couple of days” He smiled in a knowing way. I smiled planing all the things I was going to do when I got home. “We’ll visit every day when we can honey” mum said before kissing me on the head. “What about daddy? Where is he?” Frowning, I asked while looking up at her. She frowned and looked away, her voice breaking a little while trying to speak. “w.. well baby, daddy has been… busy on the farm. He’ll come see you soon thou… I hope” she whispered the end part so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.
After a while Nurse Heeler went out and came back in with a juice box and a small pack of cookies. Quickly I looked over to her and started to drool at the sight of the sugary treat being offered. Before mum could say a single word I moved as fast as I could to grab the treat only to cry out in pain at the sudden movement. Everyone in the room frowned a the sound which caused Nurse Heeler to put the treat down to look at my bandages. Whimpering from the pain I look longingly at the cookies ignoring the scolding my mum is giving me. Nurse Heeler, satisfied that I hadn’t torn a stitch, handed me the cookies and left the room. Opening the bag, I look over at Jackson to see him looking at the treat, hand him some and enjoy the treat together. Soon it turns darker and everyone has to go home for the night leaving me alone for the night with only my stuff toy as company.
Slowly the days pass with the only people visiting me being mum, Jackson, Nurse Heeler and Dr Reynolds. Finally I’m being released from the hospital, mum is helping me get dressed while trying not to put pressure on my bandages or ankle. “you look happy” Mum smiled and helped me put on my shirt. Nodding my head I smile up at her “I’m looking forward to seeing daddy” I say. She frowns and bends down so she can look in my eyes. “Honey, your daddy loves you but right now he’s… not thinking straight.” she squeezes my shoulders in a reassuring way. Not understanding I just smile at her and nod like I understand.
Leaving the hospital I smile and wave goodbye to Nurse Heeler, who was frowning a little and Dr Reynolds who was smiling in a knowing way back at me. After a car ride we arrived at the farm, Mum got out the car, helped me out and gave me a pair of crutches to walk with. Jackson quickly ran up to great me and I hobbled up to him as fast as possible so we could hug. Looking around, I hobbled towards the house with Jackson and mum walking behind me I start calling out for dad. Not hearing a response I continue towards the house, slowly move up the porch steps with help and open the door. Moving through the doorway I call out for him again only to jump from a loud muffled noise coming from the basement.
I started towards the basement door and reach for the handle only to have the door swing open suddenly and be pushed away from the basement. Looking up my smile slowly into a frown as dad stands towering over me with a snarl on his face and he slams the door behind him. “Stay away from this door!” He snarls out and locks the door before storming away. Mum comes up behind me and quickly moves me away from the basement while shooing Jackson away. She helps me upstairs and sets me down on my bed as I start to tear up at what just happened. “I’m sorry honey, just… stay away from the basement and everything will be fine” She says while trying to stop me from crying.
 3rd person pov:
After what happened (y/n)s been stuck in bed as he can’t move until his ankle is fully healed leaving him in the house alone while everyone works on the farm. Multiple times he hears noises coming from the basement, sometimes its quiet sobbing and other times its loud clanking. One day Malcolm comes into the house before everyone else and can be heard stomping towards the basement and slams the door behind him. Suddenly, loud almost animal like screams can be heard coming from the basement as well as loud banging noises. Holding his hands over his ears, tears stream down his face as (y/n) try to block out the noise only for it to become muffled. He keeps telling Ella what he’s hearing only to have her try and shush him before anyone else can hear with a terrified look in her eyes.
During one of the times (y/n) begs Ella to check out the basement for monsters Malcolm must have heard as the very next day lots of padlocks appeared on the basement door. The screaming and howling has been happening more and more recently. As the days slowly fly passed the noises have been happening more and more, they’ve even started when Ella and Jackson is in the house. Every time Malcolm emerges from the basement he looks less like himself as bags start forming under his eyes and his hair has become greasy and unkempt.
The first time (y/n) was able to hobble downstairs with little help for dinner Malcolm ignored him and focused only on his plate. Malcolm glanced up at (y/n) while cutting up some food and a light went off in his head. (Y/N) wasn’t like the rest of them, wasn’t fit to live on a farm and it was his own fault. He let his father tell (y/n) crazy children’s tales, he didn’t have (y/n) work on the farm enough like Jackson, he didn’t punish (y/n) enough so he’d listen about the forest like Jackson and he didn’t protect (y/n). Malcolm got up from the table and went to the closest phone he could find to set his plan in motion tomorrow.
 (Y/N)’s pov:
Frowning, I looked around the living room trying to find something to do as dad told me to stay in the living room today instead of my room. Every now and then he’d walk into the room with a smile on his face while moving things around just outside the doorway but never looking in my direction. Both mum and Jackson are working on the farm leaving me alone with him for the first time since I got home from the hospital. I gripped my favourite teddy close as dad carried a suit case through the living room and placed it with the other stuff he gathered. The phone started to ring and he left to answer it leaving me alone to wonder about what’s going on.
Slowly standing up, I used the crutches to move towards the door to find out what’s happening and why dad was smiling. Finally at the doorway, I look down in confusion as the stuff by the door is mine. All my teddies are haphazardly thrown in a box along with some of my toys, story books and the suit case full of my clothes. I jump as the phone clicks and dad starts making his way back towards the front entrance. “(y/n) I thought I told you to stay in the living room” dad says moving towards the front door. “Sorry dad, I.. I just wanted to use the toilet” I lie, acting like I didn’t see anything. “Go back to the living room when you’re done, I need you for something special” Dad smiles and watches me hop passed him towards the bathroom.
Just as I start to use the toilet the dogs outside start to bark at something and dad shouts at them to be quiet. Listening quietly I hear dad talking to someone and the sound of a car door shutting. Moving towards the window, I try to look out only to be to short to look out it and almost fall over in the process. Catching my balance, I slowly open the door and move towards the stairs. “(Y/N), you done yet?” Dad shouts coming back into the house. Nodding my head, I head down the stairs and move into the living room.. Sitting down, I pick up my teddy and fiddle with its arms wondering what dad wants me for.
Before dad can come back in mum runs in crying her eyes out and pulls me into her arms shaking her head. Jackson quickly joins the hug, quietly sobbing and I slowly start to realise something is wrong. Dad watches until he decides it’s been long enough and pulls me out of mum and Jacksons arms. “Remember that special thing I need you to do?” He asks, carrying me towards the front door. I look over his shoulder to see mum and Jackson slowly following behind making me start to panic. “A friend of mine needs someone to help her around the house and in the garden. I’ve told her you’ll help her” Dad says opening the door.
Standing in the drive way is a small woman who looks to be in her late 60s next to a beat up truck covered in dents and scratches. As dad carries me closer I finally realize why mum and Jackson are crying and start to shake my head. “I don’t want to” I say starting to cry as dad reaches the truck and opens the door. Dad ignores me and places me in truck as mum sobs loudly in the background. He quickly throws my crutches in the trucks bed and crouches at the door to look into my eyes. “be good for Mrs Harriet” He says and ruffles my hair before shutting the door. I start crying harder as he walks away and Mrs Harriet buckles up in the drivers seat.
She gives me a sad look and slowly starts to pull away from the farm causing me to start wailing about not wanting to leave. “I’m sorry about what’s happening honey, I promise to help you see your family as much as possible” Mrs Harriet says as the truck speeds up. Looking in the cracked side mirror I see mum slumped to the ground crying, Jackson watching me leave and dad closing the door behind him. Clutching my teddy as close as I possibly can my sadness turns to fear wondering what’s going to happen to me.
 3rd Person Pov:
20 years later an old beaten truck shambles up a dirt driveway heading towards an old looking farm house. Stopping the truck, a 27 year old man opens the door and steps out staring at the house with a look of displeasure. He pulls his cap down to partly cover the scar on the side of his face as he shuts the truck door. Suddenly, the front door slams open and a older woman comes flying out tackling the man into a hug. Standing at the front door is a man watching it happen with a small smile. “my baby.. I’ve missed you” The woman sobs, clutching the man tighter. He hugs her back and smiles. “I’ve missed you too mum” He whispers. Looking up he continues to smile and nods at the other man. “Jackson” He says as the other man moves closer. He reaches the duo and joins the hug. “Nice to see you (y/n)” Jackson says patting (y/n)’s back.

(Y/N) = Your Name
3rd pov
For as long as (y/n) can remember he’s lived in one small town with his family on a farm. His family have survived on this plot of land for over 150 years which was started up by his great, great grandfather. For the passed seven years he’s sat there listening to the stories that have been handed down through the family about the legends that come with the land and what lurks in the woods. Unlike his older brother who dismissed the stories and claimed their parents where just trying to scare them both. Multiple times (y/n) would try and venture out passed the farm fences to try and find any signs of the legendary beasts and ghosts. He has never managed to get far without either his father or mother marching him back home.
On one of his adventures he managed to get further then he had ever been before which resulted in him becoming lost. (y/n) looked this way and that but couldn’t see anything he recognised and started to panic. With every step (y/n) took he could feel eyes watching him from the trees, hear leaves around him rustle and sticks crack as if someone was following him. Panicking, (y/n) ran as fast as his little legs could carry him hoping to escape whatever was chasing him. Twisting and turning, he could here it coming closer and closer.
Trying to look behind him, (y/n) turns his head only to catch his foot on a root and fall down a small cliff leading to a river. Whimpering in pain due to injuring his ankle, hitting his head and fear (y/n) closes his eyes expecting one of the creatures from his parents stories to be standing over him with fangs bared ready to tear him limb from limb. After a couple of minutes of nothing he peaked one eye open to see nothing there, no creature, no fangs, absolutely nothing.
Trying to get up (y/n) looked around but could only see where he fell from the and the river flowing behind him. Alone and scared, (y/n) crawled as far away from the river as he could and lent up against a stone. Minutes slowly passed as (y/n) sat there hoping for his family to find him and drag him home like they normally do only for him to wait longer and longer. Fear slowly crept down his spine and tears slowly fell down his face as it finally dawned on him that his family didn’t know where he was. The silent tears quickly turned into loud sobbing as (y/n) wrapped his arms around his legs and buried his head in the gap he made.
A small splash was all it took for him to lift his head in a flash. Trying to gaze through tear stricken eyes he could only make out blurred shapes. As more splashes could be heard (y/n)’s eyes began closing from the pain coming from the back of his head. The last thing (y/n) saw was a blurry figure reaching out to him as everything went black.
Malcolm’s pov:
Ella came running into the barn I’m in with tears in her eyes and wrapped her arms around my chest so tight that I couldn’t breath. “Ella, what’s wrong?) I asked gently moving her back enough to see her face. She whimpered and stutter a bit before sobbing even harder letting me know something was wrong. The only thing I managed to understand in her blubbering was the words (y/n) and missing. Gritting my teeth I push her away from me and storm out of the barn and looked around. “(Y/N)?!” I shouted furious as Ella came stumbling after me. “p.. please don’t be m.. mad at him, he’s only a child” Ella sobbed while trying to grab hold of my arm.
“I’ve had it up to here with that boy and his wandering. He should be here working like his brother not wandering around looking for make believe!” Pulling my arm away, I glare at her and marched toward the house at a fast pace. Half way to the house Jackson walks towards me from the chicken coup after hearing all the noise. “What’s going on?” He asks, carrying a basket of eggs towards us. “That brother of yours has gone wandering again!” I shout while moving passed him.
Heading towards the house I could hear Jackson sigh and hand the eggs of to his mother. Reaching the house I walked around the side to where we keep the dogs, grabbing their leads I start to attach them as Ella comes up to me again. “Malcolm please calm down. You know how you get when you’re angry.” she pleads, barely being heard over the dogs barking. After getting the dogs sorted I push passed her and call for Jackson to come with me. He runs up to me with (y/n)’s jacket for the dogs to sniff. They sniff around and start to bark letting us know they caught his scent.
Marching into the woods with the dogs hunting for (y/n) I heard Ella slam the house door shut behind her. After a couple of hours of walking the dogs start pulling to a part of the woods that lead to a sudden drop. “Jackson, stay here with the dogs. I’m gonna go get your brother.” I say handing the dogs off to Jackson. walking over to ledge I crouch down to pear over the ledge only to gasp at what’s there. Down by some stones is (y/n) with a boy wearing only what looks like animal skin standing over him.
Standing up, I look for a way down there while keeping an eye of this boy. Slowly walking towards a steep stone path my fists clench as the boy reaches down touch (y/n). The boy gently strokes (y/n)’s head a couple of times as I start to take a couple of steps on the stone path. Suddenly, my foots slips out from under me as some of the stones shift with my weight causing the stones to clatter down the path. The boys head jerks up to look at me while pulling away from (y/n).
The boy quickly turns and starts to run towards the river, gripping the animal fur closer to his body. Attempting to stand, I look up and watch whatever this boy is turned into a seal just as he reaches the rivers edge. Finally standing up, I watch as the creature quickly dives into the water out of sight. After looking at the river for a while I turn towards (y/n) wanting an explanation only to gasp seeing him unconscious with his head slumped on a stone staining it red with a small amount of blood.
Forgetting how angry I am and about what happened I rush over to (y/n) side to see what happened. Slumping down next to his side I look at his head first to find a cut on the side of his head near his temple. Reaching down I quickly swoop him up into my arms and run back to the stone path. “Jackson! Take the dogs and run back to the farm as quickly as you can. Tell your mother to call for help and get the first aid kit ready!” I shout while trying to climb up the stone path as quickly as possible without slipping. Hearing Jackson start running back towards the farm, I look down at (y/n) and try to move faster.
Finally making it back to the farm I run towards the house. “Jackson! Ella!” I shouted getting closer towards the front door. Jackson swings the front door open as I reach it and quickly moves out the way. “Malcolm what’s goin..” Ella asks only to gasp at the condition (y/n) is in. Ignoring her I head towards the sofa and place (y/n) down gently. “Jackson grab the first aid kit! Ella call for help!” I command, quickly checking (y/n) for any other injuries. Checking (y/n) over I saw he was covered in scrapes and scratches until I went to check his legs. As Jackson returned with the first aid kit I was lifting (y/n)s pant leg up a bit only to reel back a bit in seeing his right ankle a dark purple colour and it was starting to swell. Jackson quickly handed me some gauze to wrap (y/n)s ankle up as best as possible to try and secure it.
3rd pov.
“Jackson go comfort your mother and wait for the ambulance together” Malcolm said in what was attempted to seem like a calming tone. Jackson nodded his head shakily and quickly left the house to join his mother. Malcolm put on a pair of gloves, slowly reached towards (y/n)s head and carefully moved it to the side as not to cause any more damage. Malcolm gently brushed (y/n)s hair aside and cursed under his breath. Right on the side of (y/n)s head was a long gagged cut starting from his hair line to the bottom of his eyebrow. Malcolm quickly grabbed a towel and applied pressure just as the sirens started to come closer and closer.
Everything after seemed like a blur to the family, Ella clung to her oldest son sobbing violently and Malcolm stayed next to them as the paramedics quickly picked (y/n) up and put him in the back of the ambulance. The family followed behind the ambulance until they got to the hospital and were forced to wait in the waiting room. A heavy weight fell onto their shoulder as they waited to hear from anyone. No one spoke for what seemed for hours, the only noise coming from them was heavy sobbing and shaken breathing. Finally, a nurse walked up and asked them to follow her to where their son is. As they reached the door a doctor met them outside before they could enter.
The doctor gave them a sombre look and told them what was wrong with their son. The sobbing got louder, Malcolm clenched his fist and looked away as the doctor told them the horrible news that their son not only had tore the ligament in his right ankle but had to be put in a medically induced coma as (y/n) had lost a lot of blood from his cut and was putting the brain at risk from lack of blood flow. The doctor opened the door and watched Ella move rapidly into the room to make sure her baby is OK. Jackson slowly moved into the room after Ella, not really understanding what's going on. The only one not entering the room is Malcolm who refused to even look in the direction of the hospital room but after some prodding he walked into the room only to stand by the door.
The doctor came in after shutting the door and explained to the family what they’re doing to help (y/n) and because he was unconscious due to a hit to the head there's a chance of him losing some if not all his memories. As the doctor started telling Ella how it most likely wont happen Malcolm started to think back to what he saw red, that thing had hurt his son. The sound of them talking slowly faded as he started thinking more and more about what he saw and what could of happened if he hadn’t gotten there in time. The doctor left the room just as Malcolm came back to his senses as Ella sat down heavily in a chair next to the bed.
After a couple of weeks the doctors decided it was time to bring (y/n) out of the coma and waited for the family to arrive before staring. As soon as the family walked into the room you could see a change in both the parents. Ella walked in with hair that was greasy, dark bags under her eyes and how they looked bloodshot from constant crying where as Malcolm was the complete opposite. His hair looked like he’d dragged his hands through it in frustration, fist clenched by his sides in anger and a frown permanently on his face. The only member of the family who hadn’t changed was Jackson who look a bit exited to be seeing (y/n) again.
The doctors chuckled as Jackson asked them questions about what was going to happen and when would (y/n) be coming home. As a nurse started setting everything up Malcolm quickly began getting angrier and angrier with every second that passed until he stormed out the room with a loud slam of the door. Ella sighed shakily and told the nurse not to worry as this had been happening a lot lately. The doctor glided into the room and slowly started to wake (y/n) as everyone waited with baited breath for any changes.

*This is the first story I’ve ever written or wrote and I’m unsure of it so far. This is a teaser of the story so I can see how it is accepted. I want to thank @momolady for helping me find info about monsters.*
