The Birth of the Angel of the Abyss

Aka ooh lore time

So. Despite the title, angels aren’t born per say. They more take form. They already exist once God creates something, and there’s hypothetically an angel for everything. They only take form when God calls out for them, and despite the fact their role might differ based on their power, they are at their core the Angel of their respective creation. Btw a lot of their power is based on how powerful their creation is.

Here’s a VERY shittly done meme about the Eve craze

I want to be clear-I’m not making fun of any of these theories. I’m glad everyone is having fun and looking for clues, this is just lighthearted humor about how everyone is Eve-which yes I love go ahead and make everyone in Hazbin Eve

Okay but the whose Eve hits on even a funnier level to me because I am guilty of this-when I first made Donna, I was making her to be Eve. For like a week, then I wrote a snippet of that idea, realize it was stupid, and made her a fallen angel that was in love with a cannibal overlord (side note, can you tell my bias for the whose Eve’s theory lol)

But despite the fact we have not seen any Eve, I am SO invested in her. I really do love all the theories everyone is making about her and I love all the different designs and concepts people have. It’s so creative and so much fun.

So keep guessing whose Eve and keep drawing her I love it all

Sera: You three sinners-

Emily: Wait, are they sinners?

Sera: They’re from hell, of course they’re sinners

Aria: We were born in hell

Adam: Hellborn, then of course they’re not allowed

Emily: But they’re children of the seraphim Abbadona. Does that make them hellborn?

Sera: Er, well, who is your father children?

Angelo: Some dude named Dragon

Sera: Don’t recognize that name, so I’m assuming it’s a sinner so yes that would make them hellborn-

Aria: He was in some gang called the Mal-branches or something.

Sera: …Malebranche? Was your father Draghignazzo?

Aurora: Yeah that

Emily: So they were born from a seraphim and a fallen angel, wouldn’t that make them technically from Heaven?

Adam: Who cares if their parents use to be angels, Charlie was born from a fallen angel, she’s hellborn.

Emily: Yeah but Abbadona was never suppose to fall, it was an accident so they’re from an angel.

Adam: Still fell! They were born in hell so they are hell born it’s in the name!

Emily: So if an angel was born on Earth it would make them human?

Adam: No! That’s different!

Sera: Alright calm down, look Emily they can’t be Heavenborn because they don’t even have divine blood! Children does your mother bleed gold?

Aurora: Mama doesn’t bleed

Sera: You know what good enough, see-

Aria: But when she cut her snakes for a new haircut yeah they bleed gold

More of the angelic girl

So I didn’t go too much in my last post but Abbadona is like I said a seraphim. More specifically the Angel of the Abyss, and that’s where Donna gets her powers from. When someone gazes into her eyes, her real eyes, they can be sucked into the abyss, and their bodies is sapped of any life turning into stone. However this works both ways. Just as empty Abbadona can make someone, she can also return life, making her image more of a healing angel rather than a morbid one. In Hell, Donna doesn’t know how to do that and thinks she can only free souls through her own blood. Also she’s only manage to partially remove souls, as being in Hell actually makes it harder to access the abyss.

Some little fun facts about the girl- One she never removes the wings from her eyes, unlike other seraphims who don’t need to constantly cover their eyes. Because of the wings constantly covering her eyes, she prefers to keep all of her wings closed and close to her rather than letting them spread out, only letting them spread out when flying. The golden freckles are actually scales, but blend in pretty well with her skin. Her face wings are actually her halo as well.

I’m too tired to go into more detail, but I did wanted to say I’ve been messing around with her design. I’m not sure whether to keep the snake in her angel form or not. I also messed around with her color scheme, I wanted to invoke a feeling of space in her wings. Like looking into the night sky. I might add more colors to make it more star like but I do like the colors I picked. I was possibly thinking of doing a peacock theme for her angelic form, but I really like her snake theme so I don’t know. I’ll figure it out later

I will never just stop lying on this blog huh

So yeah, after my last post on this blog, turns out I couldn’t get Donna out of my head, and I have so many ideas for her and the kids. I do really want to expand on the kids but, I’m lazy. So here’s instead this au I made up

Basically the idea is that Donna being a seraphim who was not meant to fall is obviously more than welcomed back into Heaven. But what about her children? Despite having angelic blood in them, they are not of Heaven. They weren’t born there, they weren’t raised there, they don’t even have angelic forms. So they are not welcomed.

Now Donna would never willingly leave her children, but Heaven has never really cared for will in the first place, only about sticking to the “order”. So they rescue Donna, leaving her children behind to fully step into their roles of the Furies

Aria looses control of her power and goes mad herself, resulting in her readily destroying hell, not caring she’s destroying herself as well

Aurora shuts off, seeking off sinners to kill silently, but only wishing to purge herself of the tainted blood she spills

Angelo can only wallow in his grief, as he cries any semblance of happiness in hell is sucked and dried away to match his misery

Heaven has their wish. The seraphim has returned to her rightful place, and the furies has returned hell to an eternal torment again. Order has been restored.

By the way, the lyrics in the pictures are based off of Laurie Anderson “O Superman”

Hazbin Hotel got released! And I pulled myself out of hell to release this old artwork

So if it wasn’t clear by the absolute gravesite this sideblog is, although I was a big fan of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, I ended up falling out of it. But I won’t lie, I had a lot of fun making Donna and the triplets and the love story with Rosie. Drawing and writing about her was something I genuinely enjoyed and I never deleted this blog because I had so much fun. I honestly still miss creating stuff about Donna, and I still have a lot of ideas for her, but for now this is it.

When I first made Donna, it was all the way back when all that we had of Hazbin was the small animated shots we had, which I enjoyed a lot, so I wanted to make my own OC. Since I learned that Hell was loosely based off of Dante’s Inferno, I pulled inspiration from there. Dante’s Inferno is not just bible fanfiction though-it’s crossover fanfiction too because Dante put a lot of different mythologies in there actually, especially Greek Mythology. And in one scene, when he is about to enter the city of Dis, he and Virgil are attacked by the Furies, who threaten to bring out Medusa, before they are stopped by an angel who opens the gates and lets them go in.

So I merged the angel and Medusa together and made the furies the children of that character and that’s how I got Donna and the triplets. Yeah, the full story of Donna is that she was a seraphim name Abbadona (another tie to hell because Abbadon is another name for Satan I think). She was suppose to be a guardian of the city of Dis in Hell, however one day she couldn’t stand the cries of people anymore, and tried to help a person. However she only ended up being pulled down while that person escaped, and burned by the Hellfire turning her into a demon. The transformation was so terrible when she got out she wandered to the surface, where Ancient Greece saw her monsterous form and called her Medusa. Not knowing any better, she just kept that name. She actually ended up falling in love with Perseus and Andromache, but she couldn’t control her powers at that time and ended up accidentally turning Perseus to stone, and Andromache killed herself because of it. She eventually found herself back in hell, where she tried to live a low life but after was almost killed, she ended up deciding she was going to do whatever it takes to climb to the top where she would never be powerless again. Her children only motivated her more do so, and she became the Drug Overlord in Hell. Lucifer recognizing her, gave her the city of Dis (since she has power over it anyway) and since people were calling her Don or Donna Medusa, she named herself Donna Medusa Gorgon and became one of the most powerful overlords in hell. Her children, Aria, Aurora, and Angelo are destined to become the Furies and the most ruthless guardians in hell.

There was a lot wrong with Donna and the story I wrote for her, it was basic and mary-sue-ish in hindsight, but she was and is still one of my favorite characters I made. I haven’t check the show out yet, but I will, and who knows maybe I’ll be inspired to make more of Donna. But I hope everyone else can enjoy the show and they are inspired to create and have fun as well.

The first memory Donna had was waking up in a land of green. For a long time, Donna was just Medusa, a cursed monster in the human world living in a cave, with no memories and no control. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love the human world, or a few humans in it....
