I have an unavailable urge to buy a red pinstripe suit and dress like a weasel from the 2017 west end Broadway Wind in the willows.
Honestly, you should follow your dreams!! You can find a weird amount of red suits at secondhand shops. Worst case scenario, you could paint the stripes yourself!

It doesn’t have to be the first version you were exposed to. Choose the version that made you decide you were not going to be normal about these animals

Have you ever read "Some of Us Had Been Threatening Our Friend Mr. Toad" from "The Merry Spinster"?
OH BOY, HAVE I EVER.
“Some of Us Had Been Threatening Our Friend Mr. Toad” sure is! A story!
For the curious, the title is based off of “Some of Us had Been Threatening Our Friend Colby,” by Donald Barthelme. The story itself isn’t based off of it, precisely, but it does give an indication of how dark THIS story gets.
For anyone who hasn’t read it and is curious, it’s kind of an exploration of the idea that Toad ISN’T the problem in Wind in the Willows, his traits and interests and arguably his weakness of will are just being exploited by his friends (Ratty, Mole, Badger, and I think Otter in one instance) to. Um. Repeatedly psychologically torture him.
For what it’s worth, I don’t have an issue with dark retellings of children’s stories. However, this one I find strangely distressing. I think, for me personally, it’s because it feels like it exists for shock value, rather than to say anything about the book. A big clue to that, for me, is that in this story Mole says he has known Toad the longest of any of Toad’s friends. Which, of course, is really easily refuted in pretty much every single adaptation, and the book itself. It seems like the Wind in the Willows aspects were mostly there to be shocking.
Note: This is nothing against Daniel M. Lavery, who seems cool! But yeah, I’m not really a fan of the story.

The Paul Bransom illustrations are, in fact, the funniest things in the world.
These were the first illustrations (although not present in the first editions, for reasons of “publishers thought the book wouldn’t sell, so they published a very small run of it for as cheaply as possible”), and actually Grahame expressed a preference for the hyper-realistic illustrations over the possibility of anthropomorphized ones. For what it’s worth, he did see Ernest Shepard’s illustrations before his death, and ultimately approved of them—although if I remember correctly, he didn’t actually live long enough to see a Shepard edition go to print. There is record of how he felt about Nancy Bernhardt’s illustrations, or Wyndham Payne’s, as far as I know.

@tiasworld93 oh there exists a wonderful illustration somewhere (which I can’t find for the life of me) of a regular-sized Toad sat forlornly in a human-sized jail and it really just fortifies how ridiculous that is XD
anyway, brb, gonna go arrest my dog for destruction of property for when he ate my socks

WELCOME. JOIN US.
My brain is a bit fried today so I don’t have much to add, but welcome and we’re always excited to have new people in the fandom!!
If I would have known there was a The Wind in the Willows Fandom of Tumblr I would have joined so much earlier.
I'm working on two fanfictions right now. Maybe I'll post a little bit of a sneak peak for both so I can see if anyone shows any interest?
Anyways, how do I work Tumblr?
Specifically the tags, there are tags I wanted to add that hinted at what kind of fanfiction (#Mole x Rat #The wild wooders #Chief Weasel #Chief x Lesser etc.) but it isn't letting me

The amazon page for the official cast recording soundtrack has a little video of the CD being recorded in studio, and I'm not sure I've seen it anywhere else so I thought I'd share! :D
[Sorry about the glitch at the beginning; the original video seems to have the same issue no matter what I try :( ]
