That man in his misery finds precious comfort in praying to an omnipotent being is understandable... but how unspeakably feeble! We should rejoice in life and be interested in everything that goes on in the world around us... Were I to make the sign of the cross, I would say, "In the name of nature, of art, and of science."

Found out my prognosis is 2-12 years.  I don’t know what to feel... well then.
How do I spend the rest of my time?

how absolutely ironic
one of my degrees is in neuroscience
In May 2022, I broke up with my ex EARL SALINDO and he poisoned me and now I have to deal with seizures and a litany of other health problems.  I died in the hospital, but they were able to bring me back.  All of this that follows may take me out.  He may have won after all.  Fuck you, earl salindo.

The takeaway: every repeated experience matters.  Therefore, whichever experiences we choose to repeat, either consciously or unconsciously, are changing our mind-body system.  Armed with this understanding, we can choose to engage in consistent physical fitness and mind fitness training regimens in order to intentionally rewire our brains and entire mind-body systems in a beneficial way.

"An instrument is a challenge that you can never fully conquer completely.  There’s always one more piece ahead of you.  Or there is always one more difficult thing that you can achieve.  Or the piece that you have played for years can always be refined, retuned, or re-interpreted.  That kind of challenge sharpens the brain."

... the feelings produced by the physical states of the body come to guide behavior and decision-making.  Body states become linked to outcomes of events in the world.  When something bad happens, the brain leverages the entire body -- the heart rate, the contraction of the gut, weakness of the muscles, and so on -- to register that feeling.  And that feeling becomes associated with the event.  When the event is next pondered, the brain essentially runs a simulation, reliving the physical feelings of the event.  Those feelings then serve to navigate or at least bias subsequent decision-making.

hey ya’ll!  I know tumblr is a dead medium at this point, but I really like that because I can just post things for my own memories.  Also, I hated it when people I knew IRL found my page.
I finally found a hair tool that takes ~10 minutes to make my hair wavy.  Bless u hair gods.  Excuse my lack of style.  Medical school has changed me a lot :/
Also I am starting a band with some classmates and we will be singing only about our experiences in this program.  A name that I recently thought of was coffee and crying.  Stay tuned hahah

Your parents and ancestors weren't able to transform all their shortcomings, so they passed their difficulties on to you. Now you have a chance to transform so that you will not transmit them to your children. This way of looking at yourself and others will give rise to understanding, compassion, and a desire to transform.
How to See by Thich Nhat Hanh
