only just realized that phoenix during the steel samurai case says that the three-day trial system was introduced about two years ago, which means that when phoenix started law school it was still under the previous, presumably less insane-paced, system, and then they changed it on him last minute when he passed the bar. can you fucking imagine. no wonder hes like that

every day people find new ways to make the most baffling, reactive, bad-faith interpretations of extremely well worded and nuanced posts on this website. things I could never anticipate. some true creativity must go into these takes to so completely diverge from the actual post inspiring it, it's like an art form

Context: While almost all of the fantasy elements from Lotr existed before Tolkien; he codified them in our modern culture. The tropes we associate with fantasy, were made popular by Tolkien, and have bled into everything including D&D.
If it wasn’t for this thing called scène à faire which is more or less “you can’t copyright tropes” the Tolkien estate would have some claim to the fantasy creatures that appear in D&D. Which, makes it ironic that D&D is trying to make homebrew harder to do.
It’s the same irony of Disney screwing up copyright despite them constantly pulling from the public domain themselves or the fanfic writer who files off the serial numbers and then gets mad at people for writing fanfic of their fic.
Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites going at it and yeah it would be entertaining to watch the dogs fight it out.

The concepts of NSFW is being cleared of the Internet under the false pretense of children’s safety when it’s really about the people in power sanitising for advertisers and pushing evangelical narratives AND that not enough is done to keep legitimately harmful content off of spaces that minors have access to are ideas that can coexist

Yeah, queercoded villains are bad if all the heroic characters are explicitly straight, but I think you could pull it off if there's one chaotic neutral character among the protagonists who's inconveniently and unapologetically horny for the villain.
"Wait, you're telling me you could have escaped those handcuffs at any time, but you let yourself get kidnapped on purpose, just to have her step on you?" "Calm down, I could have escaped at any time." "WE WERE ALREADY SETTING UP A RESCUE MISSION."

COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS
Authors often have different goals in terms of what they want to convey with their stories. Can you think of some? Elaborate Ex: Some authors want to teach a moral lesson to their readers, others just want to tell a good story
What do you think the author’s goal was here. Do they succeed? Why?
What emotions do you feel, what is in your heart. Do you have a heart? What does it mean to have a heart?
What is existence? What does it mean to exist? Who does and does not have a right to exist? Can that even be measured? Does life have meaning? Is it possible to assign meaning to life? What if you get it wrong? What if you’re going down the wrong path and wasting your finite time? Is there even a right path? Do any of us have a purpose? Are we all just hopeless bags of meat destined to rot in the ground some day having left no impact on the world, forgotten? I’m a horse? Explain?
