these remind me so much of nabokov and are used in a very similar way to approach a very similar subject. it's incredible that dolores and prior are so precisely catalogued by these long adjective lists (i'd call them a defining feature of each text) and yet the accumulation of these descriptors does not actually sketch a portrait of them but somehow only highlights their unknownness
