It's been almost two years since I last posted! Life's been so incredibly busy these past years and I've been in a terrible writer's block. I have so so much projects tho :-) but first, should I resume posting on this blog? I might do it whenever I feel like to. ^-^

Random Couple Prompts

- Person A is the owner of an antiques shop and person B is an affectionate customer who comes many times a week, but rarely buys anything because everything is "too expensive". - Person A and person B are roommates. One of them is a vet, the other one hates taking care of animals. - Person A caught a stranger, person B, staring at them in the mall. They smile back and person B looks away, flustered. - Person A spends thirty minutes to quietly get up and go out of their room in order to not wake up person B. - Person B is terrible in maths and needs a tutor, while person A happens to be a very strict math teacher, feared by their students. - Person A and person B are both musicians and music teachers, and they met on the workplace. They teach in different classes, and their students feel a strong sense of rivalty towards each other. - Person B trips on something and, even if they can walk perfectly fine, person A offers to carry them around. - Person A calls in sick to work and their boss, person B, immediately goes to person A's house in order to help and make sure they're actually okay. Turns out person A just didn't feel like going and didn't think person B would actually come visit them. - Two strangers, person A and person B, meet everyday in the same building and have noticed each other, but never talked. One day, they are both trapped in an elevator together. - In a couple, person B is the sober one that drives and gets them out of parties, while person A is always drunk and constantly tries to tempt person B. But who could possibly say no when they're so drunk and cute?

[V]: Dirty talk already? Then come here and get the job done, if you can.

[V]: Leaving so soon? I thought you'd wait for me!

[H]: [sarcastically] Oh, I could never leave you alone on your own.

[V]: [chuckles] That's so sweet of you. Although you may have to leave now. Permanently.

[H]: That was a bit too much, y'know.

[V]: It has to be! Everything about me must be phenomenal!

[H]: Quit being a drama queen already, I'm not in the mood today.

[V]: Aren't ya getting a little bit tired of chasing me all the time?

[H]: It is my duty.

[V]: Bullshit. You just want to see me, don't you? Or someone else would've already took over the job.

[H]: Do you think I'd give up that easily?

[V]: Eh, well...

[V]: I know I can be cold, [hero]. But listen, it's not like I'm that heartless. It's not like I kidnapped [sidekick] because I was bored.

[H]: Only someone like you would do that out of boredom.

[V]: Aww! First sweet thing you've said to me since we met. Gotta mark this date on the calendary.

[H]: Can you not.

[V]: Wait, wait, listen. Can we come to terms? I'm a bit tired of constantly hiding all the time.

[H]: Oh, I thought you enjoyed doing what filthy rats like you do.

[V]: ...Forget the terms. I changed my mind.

[H]: [Villain], maybe things could have been... different. We could have been good friends, even.

[V]: We can. You're good and I'm evil, right? There must be balance in this world and one cannot exist without the other. Hence, we're like besties! Except we kind of... have different ideas.

[H]: And do "besties" try to kill each other everyday?

[V]: ...That one too, yeah.

[H]: Quit the talking already! I'm not here to play your game!

[V]: No, wait, you're right. Actually, can they send me someone else? You're way too boring.

[H]: ...What?

[V]: Haven't they told you, sweetie? Seems like no one wants their hands on the case, since you're the third this week and you're easily replaceable like everyone else.

[H]: You... underestimate me, you jerk.

[V]: Show me what you're made of, then!

[H]: Nobody's perfect, not even you, [villain]. You too make mistakes, and I forgive you.

[V]: When did I ever ask you for forgiveness? Don't make me laugh.

[H]: You never said it out loud, but I just know it! Do you think I'm that stupid, or clueless?!

[V]: Enough to make assumptions about me.

[H]: Yet you didn't deny it.

[V]: I've heard you at night, [hero]. You sing songs for them, don't you? You even wrote one for them. I hear your voice at night...

[H]: Uh, I-- why does it matter now... and how would you know it?

[V]: So it's true! You spend nights dreaming about them, and you don't even think about me! I wanted to be your only thought, [hero], the only person you have in your mind...

How to Make a 3D Mockup of Your Book for Free

Hi friends! While I wait for the paperback proof of The Complete Guide to Self-Editing for Fiction Writers to arrive in the mail this week, I’ve been creating some 3D mockups of the book to use on my site. I tried out a ton of tools, both paid and free, and found two services I really like. I wanted to share them with you all to save you the hassle of doing your own research if you ever want to do this for one of your books. It’s REALLY EASY to do and both of these tools are completely free with no account required to download your images.

Option #1: Smartmockups


Smartmockups offers 3D mockups of all kinds (t-shirts, coffee mugs, business cards, etc.). I used their site to create and download this cool 3D mockup of my ebook on a tablet and phone:

What I like about Smartmockups:

No account required to download your mockup.

Download as many free mockups as you want.

Internal cropping tool–if you look closely you can see that these covers don’t exactly match the device’s dimensions, however I was able to crop it within Smartmockups without creating a new image.

Keep in mind you will need a cover image that you created elsewhere to upload into their editor.

To find their free mockup templates, go to their site > Browse All Mockups. From there, choose your category on the left, then filter by “free.”

Option #2: DIY Book Covers 


I also liked DIY Book Covers, and used their site to download these paperback and mixed ebook + 3D paperback mockups:

The quality is not as high in my opinion, but it still looks much better than comparable tools I found online, plus you can download as many as you want without making an account.

What I like about DIY Book Covers:

Transparent background (be sure to download in PNG)

Option for an image of a paperback next to an ereader, which is not available in Smartmockups

No account needed for free downloads

The site has a lot of other information and tools for authors, like a cover design creator, tutorials, and marketing advice


From the homepage, go to Book Design > 3D Mockups. Again, you will need your own cover image to upload. One thing to note is that I could not get the DIY Book Covers uploader to work in Firefox. I had to use Safari.

If you have tools you like to use to make 3D Mockups, please share them! These are the two that worked for me but I’m sure there are other good ones out there. I liked that they were free, high-quality, and I wasn’t required to make yet another online account in order to download them.
