Klimke is currently rolling in his grave while I sit here watching this dressage lesson with Canadian Olympic Dressage rider Jacqueline Brooks and Lainey Ashker. LOCK, BRACE and LEAN INTO THE KNEE ROLLS were all forbidden things to do in every lesson I have ever had. Learning to ride with a balanced independent seat and hand was more important in developing a horse that is correctly round and balanced instead of waterskiing on its face. If this is the future of dressage then DRESSAGE IS DOOMED. I said it. I have been saying it for a while but we have never had the privelege of hearing how camp Ashley Holzer (yes that is who Jacqui trains with) actually teaches the Canadian dressage riders like Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu and Jill Irving how to waterski on their horses. We only get to see the end result of some very unhappy horses that result in an astonishing amount of dressage disasters all from one trainer and their students. This lesson is appalling in that even the simpliest things like the abrupt halt were never corrected but rather praised. In my personal opinion this is by far the biggest dressage disaster yet. The problem with the Wellington dressage circuit is that the horses become very comfortable showing in the same dressage ring week after week during the Winter Equestrian Festival at the Global Dressage Festival. This week Sarah Lockman Tubman got a dose of that reality when she rode her grand prix dressage horse down centerline in the main ring at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala. First Apple turned into a fried apple shortly after her grand prix dressage test began and only got worse at the dressage test went on. Sarah Lockman Tubman finally retired after completely missing a line of one tempis and her horse doing the canter pirouettes that amatuer hour at a schooling show. Grand Prix dressage horse Dark Legend showed Charlotte (Lottie) Fry his dark side at the World Cup Grand Prix dressage final this weekend. He came into the dressage ring a bit hot and a dressage disaster followed. Charlotte Fry did a fantastic job of sticking with it and riding him through to complete the Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle, pulling her score back up throughout the second half of the test. This dressage fail was averted by the skill and precision of the 26-year-old Olympian Lottie Fry. Danish dynamite: Cathrine Dufour on the Pidgley family's 10-year old Westfalian Vamos Amigos (by Vitalis x Hotline). I like to see more bending in the corners and lateral elasticity! The horse stays too straight with no flexion in those corners. The extended trot is too electric, creeps behind the contact. Wonderful trot half passes, very uphill and expressive. The passage is so off the ground and quick.. this is where the electricity pays off, but it could even be tuned down a notch. Very ground covering extended walk. Lovely two tempi's and ones , but in the pirouettes he verges on doing them with double beats. Vamos Amigos still has tons of energy and power left on that final centerline. Mega passage, good piaffe on the spot. Very pleasant ride to watch. 80.019% a new leader and personal best! During the course of week one both Lauren Kanarek and Robert Goodwin have already had their testimony impeached but there are so many more things to talk about when this case is stranger than fiction. I am not an expert or a witness and I have no legal or actual ties to this case. All of these statements are merely my observations and random thoughts on how messed up this case and trial has been from the start! I did forget to mention that the judge is seriously manstrating and is not impartial at all and should be dismissed. Please feel free to add your comments as we piece together what really happened in August 2019 when Lauren Kanarek claims that Olympian Michael Barisone tried to kill her and Rob Goodwin at his dressage stable. We have supported Michael Barisone here at Dressage Hub from the moment the shooting happened. We have created T-Shirts with #FREEMICHAEL on them in which all of the proceeds will go to support Michael Barisone as he attempts to regain his life after an unfortunate encounter. https://ift.tt/JDtnZPg For access to more awesome videos, subscribe to Dressage Hub on Patreon https://ift.tt/KeHartC Check out our Amazon store for awesome things for equestrians! https://ift.tt/vGWlKd7 For more great videos on keeping your horse safe, happy and healthy, subscribe to Dressage Hub. http://www.youtube.com/dressagehub Connect with us: https://ift.tt/hjkHF2b TikTok https://ift.tt/pkIfHvg... If you can be nothing else in dressage you should be consistent. I am going to give Jill Irving credit where credit is due. While she has managed to make her way around hundreds of grand prix dressage tests the one thing that she has managed to do is fail consistently. In this comparison video of Arthur and Jill Irving in the Grand Prix we see almost the exact same fail in 2018 and again in 2022. This is actually a considerable feat to actually nail the exact same dressage fail at the same point in the test and the same point in the arena 4 years apart. It is actually astounding the level of suck that is achieved by the grand prix dressage tests in this video. At the FEI World Cup Grand Prix in Doha just a few weeks ago Dinja Van Liere entered the dressage ring and had a dressage disaster and her grand prix dressage horse Hermes had a meltdown from which she was not able to recover and was forced to retire from competition. https://youtu.be/J_8bYOL4k6c This week at the FEI World Cup Dressage Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle in Herning, it happened again. This time Hermes waited until the music started and the first halt was completed, in order to show off his exceptional talent and rearing and reversing. Hermes comes in hot and and this time Dinja van Liere was able to get Hermes back under control to compete the grand prix dressage freestyle. She's Back!! A few weeks ago we featured a video in which Victoria Max- Theurer really struggled her way through the World Cup Grand Prix at Doha. https://youtu.be/BdGrDSdQvVE Dressage is not really known as a go big or go home kind of sport but Victoria Max-Theurer took the short Grand Prix to the next level with a repeat performance of the struggles she had in Doha... but this time they were bigger and better (in terms of a dressage disaster) and that forced her to retire early in the grand prix at Herning. Hans Peter Minderhoud of the Netherlands, rode Dream Boy (by Vivaldi x Ferro) to third. The obedient black KWPN stallion had an unusual bobble in the piaffe, rearing in the first piaffe pirouette after his halt at entry. The judges responded to this by scoring the piaffe 6 to 7.5 on average, which brought Minderhoud's final score to 81.93%, good for a third place. We have seen a lot of dressage disasters here at Dressage Hub since we started the Dressage Disaster series of videos, but I think this might be the biggest disaster we have seen yet. Dinja van Liere had her hands full with her grand prix dressage horse Hermes in the Grand Prix dressage freestyle at the CDI 5* in Doha as part of the FEI world cup dressage series of events. Hermes decided he wanted nothing to do with the grand prix dressage freestyle and despite several attempts to make it happen Dinja van Liere was not able to recover and was elminated from the grand prix before she even started. Team Canada loves to make the dressage disaster reel here at Dressage Hub. Once again we see a Canadian Olympic Dressage Team member in the spotlight, for all the wrong reasons. Lindsay Kellock who is trained by Ashley Holzer (see the Valentine series) had the ride that nightmares are made of last night in the CDI 5* Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle in Wellington, Florida. Ashley Holzer videos: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkjLVidWckpxxnu0vNA8x4E0zVvNRa1cP Sebastion is out of Sandro Hit and they are known to be challenging horses when you get to the Grand Prix level of dressage and tonight Lindsay Kellock shared with the world exactly why when the grand prix dressage horse had a complete meltdown in the dressage freestyle. We loved this pair at the Olympics however Kontestro decided things ringside were a bit scary. We are happy to see them back and better than ever with this fantastic Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle at the CDI 5* in Doha! And the judges agreed, rewarding Henri Rouste and Kontestro with a personal best for what the commentators described as Poetry in Motion! The harmony in this Top Gun inspired dressage freestyle is amazing and makes the dressage freestyles from the CDI 5* in Wellington look like amateur hour. Things are heating up as we close in on the World Equestrian Games this summer and we here at Dressage Hub are looking forward to seeing this pair shine on the world stage! Adrienne Lyle & Salvino did what everyone else tried to do and failed! She came back into the international spotlight after 6 months away and laid down an awesome grand prix dressage test. Many riders took an extended break from the show ring after the Olympics last year and a lot of them came back into the show ring last night for the CDI 5* Grand Prix, however, most of the rides were so riddled with mistakes it started to look like a schooling show rather than a 5* CDI. Few riders can do what Adrienne Lyle did. That is what makes her exceptional. -------- Press release In their first competition back after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games last August, Lyle and Salvino set the winning tone with a score of 76.500% in the Grand Prix for Special CDI5*, presented by Havensafe Farm. Fellow American Ashley Holzer rode her own Valentine, a 12-year-old Hanoverian mare by Donnerhall I, to second place with a score of 70.696%. Seven-time Swedish Olympian Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén and Lövsta Stuteri AB’s Devanto, a 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding by De Chirico, were third with 68.739%. “Honestly, I think that’s one of his better tests we’ve ever done,” revealed Lyle. “I was really happy with it. It may not have been our best score posted, but I just went back and watched the video and I’m thrilled with him and the feeling." Lyle echoed the sentiment of enjoying the competition at the PBIEC venue, having already competed in the arena last June in the U.S. Olympic observation trial. “It’s really fun to be back and have more spectators this time,” she said. “We’re really thankful for this opportunity.” For access to more awesome videos, subscribe to Dressage Hub on Patreon https://ift.tt/54v0W9r Check out our Amazon store for awesome things for equestrians! https://ift.tt/Dhfwlq2 For more great videos on keeping your horse safe, happy and healthy, subscribe to Dressage Hub. http://www.youtube.com/dressagehub Connect with us: https://ift.tt/f7nyiqX TikTok https://ift.tt/XbiNDxH... Isabell Werth has been known as the Queen of Dressage for a long time. Last year we saw the Queen herself dethroned by Jessica von Bredow-Werndl. This week at the world cup dressage Grand Prix freestyle she slipped a little further down the ranks for a finish in 5th place. ------- The starting field was reduced to 13 following the withdrawal of two top German contenders, Helen Langehanenberg (Annabelle) and Benjamin Werndl (Famoso OLD), but the competition was keen from the outset and Danish riders really rose to the challenge when finishing second, third and fourth. Sixth to go, Australia’s Kirsty Oatley left the arena in tears for all the right reasons after posting an emotional personal-best 79.840 with her chestnut gelding Du Soleil whose fancy footwork belied his 18 years, and this pair were out in front going into the second half of the competition. Swedish showman and Oatley’s brother-in-law, Patrik Kittel, took over the lead when first into the arena after the break when scoring 81.325 with his relatively new ride Blue Hors Zepter before Germany’s Isabell Werth - chasing her fourth consecutive series title this season - bettered that when DSP Quantaz put 82.640 on the board.
