I would like to hear about your Farore re-write ;w;

What’s the change you think you’re most satisfied with during that major editing process?

So Farore got written mostly in 2020. The idea had been kicking around in my head for a while and I started it, though I originally ended it once Link goes back to the castle but before the first dungeon in the story. I hadn’t posted it anywhere, but people who read it asked what happened next.

I began posting it and trying to decide if there was a what next and then 2020 started and I was suddenly in an “essential job” that went completely insane and there was almost no way to vent steam.

The originally story was a little rushed, I think. I had imaginary deadlines and kept a pace that wasn’t really sustainable. I started with a beta reader who vanished after a few weeks and never posted to tumblr again. I wonder what happened as I don’t think it was good? I picked up another one and they phased out about 2/3 of the way through. I felt like I was writing without a safety net and I feel like some of the duct tape was visible, even though people seem to enjoy it.

I know I learned to be a better writer over the past few years, and I ended up noodling around in the universe quite a bit, so just being able to make things a little deeper, better finished, hint at the lord that lives in my head was all really nice to weave in. I think what I have now is better, though it keeps the things I like about the original intact.

WIP ASK GAME

Soooooo….i really do not have any WIP that I have worked on at all in the past six months or more. There’s one but I can’t talk about it because it’s for a zine and I don’t know when it might see the light of day.

I did do a rewrite of Uneasy Lies the Chosen of Farore back in November and was theoretically going to post that this spring but I wanted to get it read over first and that’s been slow going and I’ve spent a lot of the last several months trying to decide if I’m actually still a writer or not. I am not sure I’ve been able to make connections on this end of the fandom, and it’s really been a thing I’ve struggled with.

If you’d like to ask about my Farore rewrite, I’d love to chat about that, but I think that’s only the current iron in the fire!
