Ello ello! Yes we’re still alive, the blog is just semi-hiatus! Sorry for not greeting y’all in 2022! (How is it May already!?) 

Chaos is still bogged down with life in general, so her fics remain on hiatus until she can get time and inspiration to wrap up Ultimatum. It’ll get there, it’s in the works, promise! 

On that note, surprise surprise, I wrote another fic for my AU/divergence of Ultimatum as a birthday gift to Chaos months ago. Can’t say no to inspiration despite plans. We’ll see if another pops out in the future but for reals this is the last [for now]! -Admin Cinna ———

Especially when they're the child of a mighty unstoppable force. Preview: Danger Sense should have warned him but the loophole that it had to be malicious intent to do harm to trigger it caused him to be blindsided. Honestly Izuku wasn’t sure which was more painful: the usual sharp stabbing pain in his head that made him grit his teeth with a wince or the now ache in his ribs and forcibly deflated lungs. Izuku’s eyes had snapped open too late as he heard an all to familiar voice yelling, feeling the impact almost simultaneously. “It’s here! It’s here, it’s here, it’s here!”

Hey so we have no idea what is/was causing this. If this happened to you when trying to join message us to let us know (include your Discord handle so we can confirm who you are)! I noticed it did it to at least three people who didn't rejoin after introductions.

I went over permissions and even Discord message boards and found nothing about being kicked after 10 minutes. It might be one bot but I checked its permissions as well. I think everyone who got bumped out didn't have a role yet.

It's a mystery.

So......Update

Aha, hello! Man it's been a while.

I want to start off by apologizing for just...disappearing off the map and kinda poking on and off (well mostly off let's be real here). 2020 and 2021, let's face it, has been a real shit show and it's caused a lot of issues for everyone, me included despite having the supposed time to write. So I want to take this time that I have now to answer some questions I know a lot of you have at the moment.

1. Where have I been/What have I been doing?

So this question has a rather simple answer, but a long explanation. To put it simply I....have been really busy with a lot of in real life stuff and also kinda got distracted amongst other things...Okay Genshin I got sucked into Genshin Impact and I'm AR 55 about to be 56 as a Childe main but THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT! I have been very...very busy.

To kinda keep it simplified, I've been trying to find a new job to escape my old one. As of luck I have managed to get out of that sticky situation and found a new job that has better pay and actual benefits than my old job. Even still there is a risk cause I'm only on a 90 day probation. If I don't pass....well I have to go back to job hunting, which isn't going to be fun, especially in this time we are in. So hopefully I pass so I can have some sort of solid income for once. Other things include family matters ranging from my dad's medical needs to my own physical and mental health being on and off the table, mostly on cause I'm really tired at this point and just want sleep. But what is sleep am I right? So financially and health wise/emotional wise...I'm not 100% stable, I would need some time in order for me to get things back together before I can even say I am fully okay. Another thing to note because of the aforementioned Genshin, I have been putting a lot of energy into that in terms of my art and also another upcoming fic project I have started with another friend of mine. That...is more ship centered than anything, nothing compared to what I do with Ultimatum and If Things Were Different. So if you are interested in Genshin Impact and are familiar with the ship Chilumi then...yeah look out for that. And before discourse happens in relation to this ship because believe me I've seen a lot of discourse about it: No, I do not and have not ever seen Lumine or Aether as a minor. It is already stated in canon they are over 500 years old and are ageless characters (basically immortal characters) and plus it is a common trope for young looking adults to be mistaken for youngins anyways (something I face very much so in my daily life so yeah). But yes....if you are interested in that, just check out my page in Ao3, it's in progress. At the same time I'm also a part of a zine for Genshin, so just be on the look out for that too :D

Finally I want to say that I'm also working on creating my IP, but that one is still gonna be a bit on the back burner mostly cause I'm just....screaming with life as it is right now. But it is still being worked on, just not as frequently as I would like. Eventually I will give more information when I have more time an energy to put more effort into it.

2. What is the current status of both Ultimatum and If Things Were Different?

At the moment I want to say Ultimatum is about 85% completed with the finale and epilogue of the series completed and the last remaining chapters currently being written. Chapter 16 is about 78% complete, so it'll be some time for chapters 17 and 18 to be completed as well. My goal for this year AT LEAST is to finish Ultimatum.

For If Things Were Different, it is still in season 2 of the actual canon, but the changes will be coming soon as to where it diverges from canon. It's just that for ITWD at the moment hasn't been my main focus as of late since things have been busy. Once Ultimatum has finally finished though I will be putting focus again on getting ITWD done and over with. It is my first ever serious fic that I've wanted to really do and I really have fun with its concept, so there is no doubt that I will not abandon this fic either.

I don't have a set date as to when either fics will be updated as things are still chaotic and such. When the chapters are done, they will be posted as soon as possible. As for having the comments off, they will return back on the moment for at least Ultimatum being finished or when its next chapter is updated. It's entirely dependant on how my mental state is doing at the time when I do post the next chapter. The chapter itself is a bit of a chunker, so brace yourself it's going to get interesting.

3. What is the future of the fics? Will there be sequels?

As of right now, both fics have their own sequels. There is a small manga I am in the works of (I just need to revamp and redo some of the pages to practice a little more) for Ultimatum. Fic wise Ultimatum will follow a sequel involving Defcon's twin terrors that you've seen kinda floating around and also were stars in Cinna's mini series she made in relation to the fic. ITWD's sequel will also involve a divergent, so it won't really be fully following the series after season 3 of BnHA. Entirely different plot centering the main bad guy and All For One himself, woo! So that's something to look forward to.

Besides that, there is another AU in the works, more fantasy in setting and will have a bit of a trollish Izuku in that regard. I'm rather excited about it, but I first need to get all of these other things sorted out before I even consider doing anything else.

4. Will there be a Discord server?

In regards to a Discord server being made: Yes, it is currently in development and I'm working not just with Cinna but also with @boss-the-goofball in making it happen. It's gonna be a bit more personal and be more towards what I do not just revolving around the fics themselves, so some ground rules are being ironed out right now to get it started. When it will be released? Possibly around the time I get chapter 16 or 17 of Ultimatum up and running. So stay tuned for that.

Now, time to get to the bottom of things I would like to do for those who enjoy the series and possibly want to connect with me in some way. I've been wanting to engage with my audience for a while now and this blog had been something for that. Unfortunately I cannot always man it as well as my lovely beta reader and good friend Cinna, so we can't always answer asks right away. So I thought why not hear from you guys a little bit? Feel free to answer in replies or in asks if anything sounds interesting to you.

If I started streaming more frequently, say playing games or drawing or just there to hang, would you be interested?

Hey everyone! We know you’ve been anxiously waiting for the next bit of Chaos’ Ultimatum and ITWD series! Chaos has been rather busy and overwhelmed lately but hopes to finish Ult come the end of the year. To calm any worries: the series are NOT canceled, just on hiatus to hammer out next bit, promise! Thanks for your patience and understanding.

However... to be honest comments are turned off on both fics due to some rather draining and entitled comments which only add to the delays. Try being encouraging to writers rather than pester for updates/a schedule and complain as if you’re entitled--you’re biting the hand that’s feeding you for free. hey uh.. when does the -If Things Were Different- Gonna update? does it roughly have a schedule? pls answer! ._ .

Hi, Admin Cinna here on behalf of Admin Chaos! ITWD as well as Ult will update when they update. They roughly have/had a schedule, as noted in the author’s comments per chapter but due to life in general (plus the year 2020) the schedule has been off which has been noted as well.

For now updates are irregular and notifications will be posted here. Your eagerness for the next chapter is appreciated but in general for everyone: please don’t demand an update. Inquiring politely about a schedule or if the author is okay is fine, but demanding/making us feel obligated to put out content like a chore is upsetting.

We know it’s stressful as a reader to be waiting for an update, the apprehension, and the worry it’s been abandoned when a schedule has been broken/radio silence, but it has not--there would be a post! Promise! Otherwise it sucks the fun out of non-paid work that was meant as pleasure for us authors and kills motivation, putting off updates longer--unless someone is willing to pay to help support a writer’s life (like via Ko-fi for Chaos). This is done for passion and fun, and provided for free. In the meantime you’d like you can check out any of my fics, otherwise it’s much appreciated for your patience for the wait! Merry Christmas!

Writer ask 20 please

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Admin Cinna: folds hands and takes a deep breath You know not what you ask. I have over 20 years of stories I’m sitting on as well as more recent fan fictions (You can find a list of most of my IPs on my art tumblr). All are littered with various things I can’t think of off the top of my head given I’ve written a LOT and it’s been a while. Most of the time if I have to ramble about something, especially if MHA fics, Chaos ends up on the receiving end with words pouring out of her ears while my brain has smoke coming out of it, hah! I love doing references, obvious and hidden, within my works whether of an in story event or something in real life.

I have some clues in Shattered Destiny only a few people have commented on so far that I have to remain tight lipped about until I finish the last two chapters since it is PLOT. For IP (original) stuff I can’t directly clarify my thoughts/clue in readers unlike fanfics on AO3 via author comments and I generally reveal stuff there for people to confirm or realize/learn something new. One major thing atm for symbolism is from Shattered: Tomoko and her barrettes: yellow roses. Yellow roses in general symbolize friendship which is important because of Izuku’s memory on top of another layer of symbolism given that exact memory, (semi-spoiler) how that friendship ended. There is way more but honestly after writing over 170k for ONE FIC you forget stuff and that’s why you have notes!

But MHA canonly is big on symbolism via name meanings, which is typical in manga/anime anyways, but MHA takes it to another level—Batman early villains level (ie: E. Nygma = the Riddler, Victor Fries = Mr Freeze, Pamela Isley = Poison Ivy) I get to play around with that for my MHA OCs, like Tomoko, her mom and even Kakashiro. “Hidden” reference I’ve made in various MHA stuff (posted or not) is Izuku’s connection with ducks, which is connected to some DFO jokes on Tumblr and Discord—my most obvious connection is from my holiday fic “Not This House” where Izuku has a duck statue outside his front door. If you want to talk to me about most symbolic ridden work of mine would have to be an IP project as it deals with the language of flowers—I’ve done a lot of research and I try to weave it in so people can learn too vs “oh so many plants.” THERE IS MEANING. Or, sometimes, you know, I just liked to put that in because I wanted to.

Admin Chaos: (sipping tea this time) Much like Cinna I end up blathering my ideas to her or anyone that knows my stories, whether they are personal IPs or even for my two fics. I think I would say more recently beyond just what Cinna disclosed would be how personal a fic can become after you muse about it for so long, let alone writing it. For me, especially when it comes to Ultimatum in this case, I put in some of my experiences and also my own handlings on situations that Ult!Izuku is going through. Along with attributes of PTSD that I too have to handle, it’s why I might be taking a while writing it. In a lot of my stories I tend to fall back on things I also went through, to make things a lot more relatable, so I guess you can say Izuku is my mouth piece in some shape or form, especially in Ultimatum. There are some things that is sprinkled in If Things Were Different, but that’s mostly to be focused on how I would be able to speak my mind versus avoiding confrontation like I typically do. I also like to bring closer attention on things in the background of the show I’m writing about too, such as the civil unrest and blatant Quirk discrimination, to expand on the world and also showcase that not everything in BnHA is all fine and dandy, as well show it’s not as shallow as some people like to make of it.

Hey I’m starting a au any tips and tricks?

Admin Chaos: (with a cup of coffee) I’d listen to some music to set the mood, figure out what kind of genre it is, write it down and see if it’s cohesive, share it with trusted friends to see if it’s a good idea, and just go on from them. Just write, editing can come later.

Admin Cinna: Start small before you go big: Write everything and anything down, make notes to organize your thoughts and then write by the seat of your pants if that works for you or the present story. Or organize your notes into an outline (detailed or not) via a timeline and then write! Even if just blurbs and not full chapters, you can connect them later. First drafts are not the final version, you can go back and edit before you post to smooth things over/make tweaks as posting online for fanfiction is different than actual publishing. Different methods for different people or even the project itself, you have to find what works for you: watching a show, listening to certain music, before or even during your writing session could help with inspiration! Or you might need utter silence sometimes like me.
