Wouldn't it be entirely possible, even likely, that with all the silly weaknesses vampires and stuff were supposed to have, they'd also turn out to be weak to any number of things that have only been invented more recently? Like who's to say vampires aren't also repelled by the smell of play-doh or driven insane by MIDI music? We've invented so much shit in just the last century there'd be NO predicting this. For all we know they burn to ash if they look at Luigi.

“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh

Imagine going back in time ten years and telling me, less than a year out from Once Upon A Time On ABC’s Swan Queen Gate that a beloved show with a popular queer ship would one day move networks to ABC and then IMMEDIATELY make the blond with abandonment issues canonically bisexual

A lot of this conversation is also focused on the 'what if the results are bad and the patient freaks out upon learning the news' scenario. And sure, that's a thing! But there is also the flip side of that- what happens when the results are normal and they refuse to tell you that? Where, completely hypothetically, the scan for 'welp, let's rule out MS or brain cancer' ends up being completely normal, but all you get is a call saying 'we need to fit you in with the doctor immediately to discuss your results' and they refuse to give any further information... So you spend a week panicking about the worst possible scenario only for the conversation to be 'oh yeah the MRI was totally normal, you probably just had a migraine and a pinched nerve. anyway have a nice day, bye.' Having the results delivered to me would have saved a LOT of stress.
Yesterday had an infuriating situation where someone who should have known better messaged a patient about their new surprise serious diagnosis when I specifically told them to call. Today found a new breast cancer diagnosis dumped in my inbox as if it were nothing with note “patient unaware.” NOT FOR LONG THEY AREN’T, the results automatically release, what the fuck is wrong with you? If you’re the provider who ordered the test and it’s positive, call the patient and set up the urgent referral, don’t wait THROUGH THE WEEKEND. Jesus Christ.
