So do people realize that we aren't building new train tracks when we expand the amteak network, I have multiple times seen people say that we shouldn't expand the network because it would destroy protected lands, which would be a fair criticism but Amtrak doesn't build new tracks, we use existing tracks. Something that's been really annoying me lately is the general lack of consideration for how gender norms were/are thought of differently in different parts of the world. Particularly how people treat Asian men. There is a longstanding stereotype of Asian men being viewed as more effeminate by westerners. It baffles me how many people who are otherwise pretty progressive re: gender still buy into this stereotype.

There's an argument to be made when it comes to claiming representation for yourself in a cultural landscape that leaves you slim pickings (I see you, trans-folks). I just wish people would do so a little more thoughtfully when looking at Asian men and deciding their features are feminine by your western standards. But that's also specifically an argument that only extends to fictional characters. Some of you really need to reflect on how you talk about your favorite Asian celebrities.
