It’s honestly hilarious how many of you will parade around in corny “gender is a social construct” shirts and crap like that but the minute someone actually practises gender critical feminism you throw a tantrum because you don’t want to acknowledge how much of your worldview relies on gender roles and misogyny

These three flags are garbage and look gross.
Let’s go back to the original, please?
Tumblr media
This one is so pretty! The pink and light blue look so cute and helps break the flag up a bit more. Plus they were removed for stupid reasons.

I saw a lesbian on a terf list for reblogging period art
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for refusing to have a sexual relationship with a trans woman she knew because she was uncomfortable interacting with a penis
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for being uncomfortable with penis photos on her dash
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for disagreeing with a trans woman about something that wasn’t even trans related
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for saying the cotton ceiling was a rapey concept
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for talking about sex based oppressions (abortion rights etc)
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for posting a picture of herself with the caption “I love vaginas”
I saw a lesbian on a terf list for saying that she was having pms, and that guys were lucky to never experience it
Like, just admit you hate lesbians okay. You use to only witch hunt radical feminists (lesbian or otherwise), but now any lesbian who says one tiny thing you disagree with is instantly a terf. You’re not protecting people with your fake af terf lists. You’re attacking your libfem allies, and then you wonder why people are afraid of you and why they turn to radical feminism for support.

legitimately i think men underestimate how boring misogyny is in media. like yes it can be gross or uncomfortable or upsetting or whatever else but for the most part it’s just boring. like we know this stuff. it’s not sooo controversial and revolutionary and new to the scene and edgy. it’s violent sex and women not being treated as people. like we know. we’re already living in it babes. the fastest way to make a piece of media boring is to make it misogynistic. and this especially applies to fantasy for me, because you’re over here getting immersed in a different world with different types of people and places and societies and then it’s just oh, the author didn’t actually make anything new. they took what they know about the real world some hundred years ago and added magic powers. or this was all just a really long intro to a dnd themed porno. the male characters sacrifice complexity because their motivations are just.. misogyny. which is at its core very simple and unimaginative. rape or violence or degradation or abuse aren’t really all that shocking or complex to see on screen. they’re in loads of movies with varying levels of quality in handling and i’m not particularly upset by them. they’re in some of my favorite movies. this isn’t an issue of sensibilities or fear. it’s just so boring.

My favorite color is green. I play violin, though not very well. I love dogs, and volunteer at an animal shelter. I'm into sci fi and my favorite author is Ursula K. LeGuin.
And I also happen to be a FTM transgender man.  What you folks would call a TIF.
Ever since I was 10, before i even knew why, I hated my body. For years of my life, I had daydreams of taking a kitchen knife to my chest and cutting off the breasts. I tried to kill myself twice.
That changed 3 years ago.  I realized I was trans and bought myself a binder.
When it's on, I feel relief. I dont think of the kitchen knife. I'm not too depressed to get out of bed.
But after 8 hours, I have to take it off.
I plan on getting top surgery so this relief can stay.
I should note- this isn't about sexism or anything of the sort. Both my parents were outspoken feminists, and I've been fortunate enough to always live in progressive areas.
This is about people. And if transitioning can keep people like me from killing themselves? I'm all for it.
truly wondering what you thought you were accomplishing by sending me this ask

i was reading your post and i'm just wondering now, genuinely with no strings attached:
when you mentioned "maybe transition is the only solution for some—but i have a hard time believing that transition is the solution for ALL.", what about people who are sex dysphoric and not gender dysphoric? people who wish they had been born with the opposite sex characteristics, and the mental pain of what they see in their own bodies is so agonizing that they need surgery to feel comfortable?
it seemed more like you were talking about gendies who call themselves some conceptual label to describe their personality and/or non-conformity, which made me want to know your thoughts on actual trans people who suffer like that.
i figure you'll stick with the "some, not all" answer, but i just don't see how gender abolition will solve their problems when it would always be related to innate biological traits.
i believe that sex dysphoria is a legitimate mental disorder. i’m not a medical professional so i’m not going to sit here and spew solutions for it but i do believe therapy can be a helpful resource, just the same as it is for people with body dysmorphia. in other extreme cases, transition IS the only thing that can help and i do support it. i think radfems who view transitioning in very black and white terms (ALL transition is bad, ALL trans people are bad, etc) are ignoring nuance and have zero empathy for people who struggle with self image, trauma, and mental illness

Hope you're doing okay. Even though we don't agree on trans related subjects you have always seemed like one of the most reasonable and non-hateful people on gender critical tumblr. Wishing you the best.
thank you :) i’m taking a little tumblr break since life has gotten so crazy (in a good way, i’m just busy) but i still lurk on here sometimes. hope you’re well too

hey queen what do you have against tiktok?
I could make dumb jokes but the honest answer here is that Tiktok managed to combine all of the worst parts of every existing website into some godawful Frankenstein's monster of everything that is wrong with the modern internet. You've got:
Artificial constraints on content length that add nothing to the medium and only make it harder to use (like Twitter)
Short-form content that discourages nuanced discussion and rewards repetitive, shallow content (like Twitter)
Short-form content + endless scroll feeds to trap you in reward-feedback loops to encourage you to spend more time on the app, including by destroying your attention span and making all other forms of entertainment seem long and understimulating compared to the rapid-fire stimulation of short-form endless scroll content (like Twitter. also Facebook and Tumblr although both have longer-form content.)
The lack of anonymity inherent in a video-based platform (like Youtube and IG)
Algorithmic feeds that discourage developing social relationships in favor of advertiser-oriented "engagement" (like Twitter and IG)
Algorithmic feeds that push progressively extreme or niche content in order to box users into easily defined categories (like Youtube)
Algorithmic feeds that progressively extreme or niche content in order to manipulatively increase time spent on the app, often to objectively harmful results (like Youtube)
A model where users are either "producers" or "consumers," where content is created and distributed, rather than shared, to an audience rather than a community (like Youtube)
Aggressive commercialization in the form of outright ads, sponsored posts, and "viral marketing" astroturf campaigns (like IG)
A format that rewards conventional attractiveness, combined with the use of filters to increase attractiveness beyond realism, which causes body dysmorphia and low self-esteem - which is great for that aggressive commercialization mentioned above (like IG)
A userbase that is largely underage, with a particularly large userbase of vulnerable teenage girls, and this demographic is so outsized that the conventions and interests of vulnerable teenage girls dominate the standards and conventions of the website, and I'd explain why this is a bad thing but the parenthesis will explain it enough (like Tumblr)
