spotted this sticker outside my apartment building and I think it illustrates an important point about the moment we’re in.

on a surface level this is something that a lot of people who consider themselves antizionist would agree with. but take 10 seconds to google the url at the bottom and you’ll see that this is a sticker for a neo-Nazi group.

“We serve one nation” is a reference to the dual loyalty trope, the idea that Jews can never be loyal to America because they are first and foremost loyal to Israel.

There are a lot of hate groups taking advantage of the moment we’re in. It’s easy to replace “Jew” with “Zionist” and get a lot more people to agree with them. Do not fall for it.

I have seen so, so many tumblrs post something like, "This used to be my x blog, but ever since Oct 7 I've just been posting Jewish stuff." Because we're all suddenly drowning in antisemitism and reaching out to each other to build community to combat that.

It would be nice if Jewish life could go back to not revolving around antisemitism. But then, a part of me says, that was all it was before the Shoah; maybe it was just the time from afterward until Oct 7th that was the unusual part. Maybe this is what it'll be for the rest of our lives.

This isn't my usual content, but while the election year is still new I figured I'd try out a prediction. It'll be interesting to see how accurate I am this far out. To explain myself a bit, I see most voters being pretty static in a Biden-Trump rematch. Biden has a lot of weaknesses right now, but trump literally has 91 felony charges that will heat up throughout the year. The only change in the map from 2020 that I predict is Biden narrowly not being able to recapture Georgia due to draconian voting restrictions and the effects of changing party coalitions (Biden gaining with college educated whites and losing some ground with non-college-educated people of color). Feel free to ask for the logic behind any part of my prediction!
