I’ll never forget the time I was sitting with this guy, nice kid, didn’t know him well, I think we must have had a bottle of wine or some questionable hashish or something, and in response to an awkward silence I just started talking and ended up going on a long meandering rant about how ugly American robins are. I’m talking a full monologue. I had an intro and conclusion. It was pointlessly vehement. I have never been so mean or loquacious about anything in my life.

Consider my horror when this perfectly nice guy wordlessly lifted his shirt to reveal a full-torso prismacolor tattoo of his spiritual soul animal, the American robin.

i'm not gonna sit here and argue that we didn't start the fire is some kind of lyrical masterpiece, but everybody thinks they can write a we didn't start the fire parody and that's just not true. you can't just throw some vaguely related stuff together and call it good. the only reason it is not a total slog to listen to what is basically a recitation of nearly 5 minutes of somewhat chronological historical events and figures is because there is inner logic! there are patterns! there is escalation! there are rhymes for god's sake, don't waste my time if you're not even going to attempt the rhyme scheme, what are we even doing here, jesus

What frustrates me with being an "out of sight, out of mind" person is that people tend to love suggesting notepads, diaries, apps, lists, anything that you can write reminders in. But my kind of "out of sight, out of mind" extends to that as well. Truly. If it is not in my sight, it is not in my mind. And you know what happens when you close a book or an app? It is not longer in sight.
