Do you mind sharing how you do that really cool effect with your outline, regarding the yellow and orange tints of it? I love it so so much and spent some time studying it but ended up not understanding how you got that effect
all it is is an orange layer set to "hard mix" (not sure how to explain what this layer does, it basically gives all colors max saturation or turns black. i use it all the time though.)
other colors work too but i like red/yellow the best:
so yup, its that easy. enjoy!

^ this is the advice i was going to give! i also do this with curves by drawing three (or more) dots then connecting them with a single line.
works similarly for pen pressure, fill the page while practicing going from thick to thin in the same stroke:
while doing these warm ups try and keep your wrist straight, and move with your elbow (and shoulder) while drawing. not only will short, tense, repetitive wrist motions eventually give you some kind of pain, it also doesnt allow for the range of motion you need to create smooth, confident lines. if it feels kind of cramped or tight to do this on your tablet try doing it on a big sheet of paper first so you have more space to loosen up, then try again (also a good way to take a break and reset if you find yourself becoming tense in the middle of a long drawing session or something)
some other tips:
drawing in mouse mode [huge]: personally, i cant stand drawing in pen mode at all (where the screen is mapped 1:1 to the tablet). i use mouse mode which makes your tablet control like, well, the mouse (you can reposition your hand without moving the cursor). i seriously cant emphasize enough how much i hate pen mode so if you havent already i encourage you to try both styles to see which feels better. there should be an option in the wacom menu for it.
brush settings: playing with stabilizer settings can help smooth out some of the jitter from your hand which can be nice. changing pressure settings will affect how much pressure you need for a thick vs. a thin line, its pretty subjective so i cant say whether it would make lineart "feel" better, but it certainly has an effect.
in the wacom menu youll have a pressure sensitivity setting like this (the default is a diagonal line, this is mine after adjustment)
and there might be a setting in whatever program you use (here it is in Sai v2):
tablet angle: like you mentioned, how you hold your tablet can affect your drawing. one of those ipad wedge pillows can help a lot here, provided you can get one at an angle you like. or if you have the knowhow you can make your own, like i did
doesnt need to be this fancy, even making a cardboard wedge would work fine, the important part is that its convenient and consistent to use. mine lets my tablet sit flat in my lap while i have my legs crossed (my usual drawing position)
anyway those are some of my thoughts... personally i hugely prefer drawing on a pen tablet over a screen tablet, so we are out there! (do most people prefer drawing on a screen? im assuming yes but honestly i have no clue). hopefully this stuff was helpful in some way
hello friends and digital artists do you have any tips other than practice to help get more confident in like. the actual movement of the pen on a drawing tablet. my lines look Vastly better when im drawing faster and with more confidence but it is...difficult. is that what warm ups are for? it is sometimes a problem of me holding my tablet at an awkward angle (makes me wish i was drawing right onto a screen tbh) but not always. also i know sometimes practice really just is the answer but just in case theres some secret to it ya know
