For the customers, the visibility of sustainable policy at each fashion brand can help them understand what they are actually engaging to protect environment.
NOAH NYC is the environmentally-conscious streetwear brand co-founded by Brendon Babenzien.

They use the brand as a platform to speak to their customers about politics, social issues, and culture and are building a sense of community and authenticity through their honesty and goodwill.
Official website:  https://noahny.com/
One of the ways that customers can see their honesty and goodwill is through their official website. For example, they are disclosing detailed information about the fabric they use for each collection.
Tumblr media
Under the "fabric" tab at the top, every customer can see the content, origin, weight, or other features of each fabric, as well as the products made with its fabric. For example, let's look at the "Recycled Canvas" fabric from spring/ summer 2021 collection.
Tumblr media
In this way, the customers can easily guess the texture of the fabric along with understanding how the fabric is environmentally friendly constructed.
In addition, they are actively posting the blog with a variety of topics they think important, such as the new collection releases, detail of some picked items, sustainable topics, or other social issues.
Tumblr media
In this "Not Dead Yet" blog posted on March 1st, 2021, they presented their new recycling program established based on their belief "we don't think of clothing as disposable, or even particularly seasonal." The customers can return the used NOAH items to the flagship store. The collected used items are washed, repaired, and resold at a lower price by NOAH.

Also, they are honest with their failure during the production process. This blog disclosed that there was a small error on their logo on the hoodie. They explained why it happened and the reason they are selling them at a lower price because they don't want to make those garments waste damaging environment.

Sustainable & Affordable Brands: CHNGE
Unfortunately, sustainable clothing usually means a higher price tag. This is due to a number of reasons, from the higher quality materials used to make the garments, to paying their employees a living wage that factors into the price of the garment.
On your journey to sustainable fashion, be wary of fast-fashion brands that are hopping on the bandwagon by greenwashing themselves.
For example, H&M has launched a "conscious" clothing line that proposes to use more eco-friendly practices, however they still remain
Notable Eco-friendly Brand: CHNGE

The softest sustainable leggins you'll ever own.
A cellulose fiber derived from beechwood pulp that’s twice as soft as cotton (really, really soft). Our modal fabrics are produced from wood-pulp fibers that are sustainably harvested
Beech trees propagate and regenerate naturally, so no artificial irrigation or planting is required—making beechwood forests a completely natural and more sustainable source of raw material. These carbon-neutral fibers require no toxic pesticides, no clear-cut farm land to grow, and substantially less water than cotton. Win-win.

Don't Just Recycle, UPCYCLE!
Tumblr media
(Source: https://brightly.eco/6-easy-ways-to-upcycle-old-clothes/)
Being more conscientious about your purchases is a great move towards helping the planet. However, often there is something overlooked that is right in your own closet. The old t-shirt you never wear anymore, the jeans that don't fit just right, etc. Repurposing, or upcycling, is the perfect way to prolong the life of your garment while spicing up your closet!
You may or may not be familiar with the term upcycling, this means taking something that no longer is in use and giving a second life/ new function.
There are tons of ways to repurpose your old clothes, from cutting and sewing, to painting and embroidery.
Let's start easy, here are a few ways to upcycle an old T-shirt!
1. From T-Shirt to Makeup Removing Pad
Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/ZeroWaste/comments/att2fs/its_a_small_change_but_still_a_change_reusable/)
Instead of throwing that t-shirt away, cut up same-sized rounds or squares from the fabric and sew them together along the outer edges. No need to be an expert seamstress, so long as it can endure the washing machine. After using, you can throw them in the laundry with your towels and bedding.
2. Cut it up!
Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.tonguechic.com/archives/four-ways-to-upcycle-an-old-t-shirt-with-style/)
Are you over the look of that ol’ t-shirt? Grab a pair of scissors and change it up! There are a variety of ways you can spruce up an old t, whether that be a crop top, tank top, open back, the creativity goes on!
3. Turn it into a bag!
Tumblr media
(Source: http://www.trashtocouture.com/2017/04/diy-t-shirt-into-macrame-market-bag.html?m=1)
You can turn your shirt (or shirts) into a net bag for your produce! Depending on how tight you tie the knots, you can use the bag for different things.
Follow the link above for a DIY video on how to make one!
Interested in even more ways to upcycle your goods? Turn to the internet where you’ll find many more ideas and tutorials on how and what to revamp!

RE/DONE Iconic. Sustainable. Individual.
RE/DONE is a sustainable high end brand that I love, it got popular over on social media back in 2014, having just been launched in downtown LA by Sean Barron and Jamie Mazur.
What they do?
They repurpose old Levi's jeans and turn them into unique and modern styles.
RE/DONE jeans have both vintage characters and modern fit. With them, you’ll never have to sacrifice personality for shape.
Tumblr media
Vintage Levi’s denim carries stories of years to wear- a history of past life. From frayed pockets, the whiskered coloring, the torn kneed, and the faded denim. These pre-loved jeans have circulated owners and changed hands over the past few decades, transforming them and giving them a life of their own. The Levi’s denim only gets better with age.
Tumblr media
The Levi’s jeans are taken apart at the seams, repurposing it as the fabric of RE/DONE new jeans. The jeans that launched are mid-rise modern skinny fit, and irreverent, perfectly slouchy, borrowed-from-the-boys relaxed fit and have since added a perfect belly-button skimming high-rise cut. The jeans are manufactured in Downtown Los Angeles using water conserving methods and no harsh chemicals. Quantities will always be limited since each pair is handpicked, hand cut, and distinctly one of a kind.

Japanese streetwear brand “MYOB” rebranded more ecofriendly
“MYOB” is a brand originally launched in New York in 2009 as an accessory shop. Initially, MYOB, which stands for "Mind Your Own Business", started to propose unique street fashion wears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the 2020AW Collection, it was rebranded and reborn as a new line "cycle" by Japanese designer Comi. This name includes COMI's thought that "People I have met and all things I experienced have all connected, so we are cycling (rotating)".
Tumblr media
Comi changed the brand name to “Cycle By MYOB” to start making more environmentally friendly products. This time, she announced the 2021 Spring / Summer collection with the concept of "Earth Energy".
Tumblr media
In this second season of the collection, they have a relaxed mood and more earth tones items. About 50% of the items made from sustainable materials such as recycled polyester and organic cotton.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While repeatedly trying out samples from Japanese textile manufacturers, they used recycled polyester "Ecopet" for the earth-colored jacket to achieve a big silhouette with elasticity. In addition, polyester fabric using organic cotton and recycled fiber is used.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comi says that her interest in the environmental issue has increased as she has been exposed to various information such as plastic waste and sewage problems. She explained the brand's belief is to express environmental problems casually and uniquely.
For this reason, Comi was particular about using fabrics that reduce the environmental burden as much as possible while maintaining the street style that he wants to express.
Currently, They sell their products mainly on official online stores and in pop-up stores in Asia such as China and South Korea, as well as in Milan and London.
Tumblr media
The online store also supports overseas shipping. The next spring/ summer 2021 collection coming soon on the official website. Don't miss it!

Eco-Friendly Fashion Tips
Let's be real, the fashion industry is responsible for a lot of waste.
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://wellmadeclothes.com/articles/ClothingSpillInstallationRaisesVitalConversationAboutWardrobeWaste/)
The impact of fashion on the world has been severe, by boosting carbon emissions, increasing water waste, and chemical waste/ dumping in landfills or local water supplies.
Now is the time to be a conscientious consumer in all aspects of life. From switching to a reusable bottle and metal straws, to environmentally friendly fashion choices.
Here are some simple steps you can take towards a more sustainable lifestyle!
1. Thrift Shopping:
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/737042295259561902/)
This is one of the easiest ways to implement a sustainable fashion plan into your life. Second-hand clothing helps alleviate the demand in the market for new clothing to be made while preventing more clothing from ending up in the landfills.
2. Repair Clothes Yourself:
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/clothing-fixes-that-everyone-should-know-1106531)
Got a small hole, button falling off, or other tear on a garment? Picking up some basic sewing skills can extend the life of your garment and means less money spent on new clothing and repairs. Don't know how to sew? Some community colleges offer FREE sewing classes, or you can look up how-to videos online.
3. Instead of Throwing it Out, Donate it:
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://www.move.org/how-to-donate-your-used-items/)
Clothing that is thrown out often ends up incinerated or in a landfill. If you haven't worn it in over a month, it's time to donate it so someone else can love and appreciate it! If it's no longer in wearable condition, it can be recycled. You can even look into organizations that collect used clothing for charitable purposes.
When purchasing, it's important to choose products that you love and that will last.
4. Make Purchases with Longevity in Mind:
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/289919294766670422/)
Try to abstain from impulse purchases, instead try investing in pieces that you really love and are made from high quality materials.
5. Invest in Slow Fashion
Tumblr media
(Photo from: https://www.whowhatwear.com/slow-fashion-movement/slide2)
In contrast to fast fashion, slow fashion advocates for manufacturing in respect to people, the environment, and animals.
Characteristics of a slow fashion brand include high quality materials, smaller local stores as opposed to chains, locally sourced, produced and sold garments, and few styles per collection released a very limited time per year.
