i just saw a text post talking abt how this user often forgets they have 8th graders and freshmen following them and uh idk if i have any young teens in my followers but just

speaking as someone who was already in this fandom when i was also a young teen i dont know if i can accurately describe how much the landscape has changed.... but i can tell you that it felt like a safe space to escape into and enjoy the story and the characters of twilight, especially bc when outside of that space, we were mocked and ridiculed and turned into a joke. to this day i hesitate mentioning twilight unless i’m certain that it won’t be received with disdain bc yknow. the lowkey trauma!

and i don’t want to give any specific examples but it feels like that safe space has changed, bc the fandom itself has pivoted into a place of mockery and contempt that frankly makes me doubt whether some ppl actually derive joy from consuming this content?? and idk yeah it’s just confusing!!!!

i guess what i’m trying to say is... if you are a young person who enjoys twilight who has ever been made to feel guilty or “”cringe”” for liking it, i would like to tell you that you are awesome and you should keep enjoying what you enjoy. i’m not saying ignore the valid criticisms against the established canon world bc you absolutely shouldnt, but if you still enjoy canon, that’s fine too!!!!!!! just be aware of it, and then reject those ideas and try to educate others going forward. no piece of media you find will ever be completely unproblematic and uncringe anyway. so whether youre a cullen fan or a wolf pack fan or you have the hots for the volturi.... or the nomads or the other covens or even the humans...you are valid!!!!! go forth and spread love, my darlings
