In 2006, Cariol Home was Buffalo, New York Police officer a year away from securing her pension and with 19 years on the force found herself in a situation where a white officer had a Black man who was handcuffed, in a choke hold. In this situation, the color of the skin of the participants should have been irrelevant and any officer should have intervened and stopped the other officer from choking a handcuffed individual. Cariol did just that and when it was all over, she lost her job, career and pension because she chose to do what was morally and legally correct. The systemic racism inherent in the culture of police departments and their unions across this country penalized her for having the audacity as a Black woman to intervene on the behalf of a Black person and stop a white police officer from "doing his job.". In know that I said I want going to pay, but someone close to me, a mentor and sometime I admired did today. Wes Unseld who I met when I was in High School. He was a substitute teacher for my social studies teacher, Art Gamzon, several times during my tenure at Catonsville High School in Baltimore. This happened at the time he was the coach for the then Washington Bullets today known as the Washington Wizards. He was an amazingly amicable and approachable person and quickly earned my respect and admiration. Rest in peace. So, back in the beginning of March, when the #novelcaronavirus began to really dominate the news, and the major news networks with half taking like it was the stay of the #zombieapocalypse and half comparing it to the yearly #influenza statistically and in regards to how it spread and manifested and the extremes on both sides exaggerated extreme conspiracy theories with the apocalypse people taking about buying more guns, bullets because society was going to break down and the other extreme saying this was just a government conspiracy. It also send that everyone wants to believe #Hollywood especially the #simpsons predicted the #covid19 outbreak by make, except they didn't really, there video used as proof was edited. They're were many who said it was a government overreaction to issue the #shelteringinplace directive telling us to #stayathome and if we must go out, practice #socialdistancing. I saw illogical comparisons of the possible mortality rate to not just the Influenza, but to car accidents which is illogical saying we don't take cars off the road. That's what moving violations are designed to do and when combined with the required and annually revised safety requirements and standards has reduced fatalities in the same way that hand sanitizer, and good have hygiene does. There reality is, I think the extremes were caused by an understandable amount of fear, regardless of who the person was. Anyone who says they were not afraid either is lying or really and truly doesn't believe this is real or understand what is really and truly going on. This is what caused the panic hoarding of toilet paper and bottled water. That fear is what causes people to be naysayers or conspiracy theorists or both simultaneously. The level of fear truly effects the insanity of the narratives and how extreme the denial or theory becomes. It's understandable given the reality of what is truly going on. Today, the #usa hit 60,000 deaths attributed to the #pandemic2020. This is identical to the 2017-2018 H3N2 Influenza outbreak which claimed 61,000 lives over the course of a year. Good Morning #instagram and this morning I was blessed with two different types of #organic, #freerange, #nongmo #browneggs and decided to try and soft-boil them, as I had a craving for that but haven't had them in like 25 years, since I worked at a restaurant with a French Chef who made them for me with fried potatoes and sour dough toast. So, I used @bing and found the instructions which were to boil an inch of water in a pot and then gently place the eggs in the water and cover for 6.5 minutes to allow them to steam. Once they had finished steaming, wash them with cool water to stop them from further cooking. They turned out amazing but I didn't photograph then because it looked to violent and like aborted chickens. Yeah, I'm weird. No ote to self, self, in the future round up to 7 minutes and make sure you add additional time to so as to not go below 7 minutes. It was the perfect finale for the morning #wakeandbake where I finished a #blunt of some loud #marijuana that I scored from a friend who was generous enough to let me have the #roach from the #blubt this #reefer shared with me at #420 am. I'm hoping I can score some more before #710 pm. No #cottonmouth or #munchies and just sitting here in #orbit looking for that alien. Can I have your attention please, this is Dennis Perone and he passed away in 2018 and for people in California he was the man who wrote California's #Prop215 Ballot Measure legalese that was simply two typed pages of legal text that granted rights and left nothing to interpretation. It easily passed and opened the door for other states to adopt similar measures. Finally Colorado legalized it and none of that would have been possible without Mr. Perone and his Proposition 215. As you're probably aware, I am on Old School, before the movies that seemingly turned #nerd culture from #geek to #sheik almost overnight, Nerd. I spent almost 30 years working in corporate IT and handling all. Levels of #helpdesk and #deskside support. During that period of time, I had a few friends who I have given the permission to ask me for technology assistance. This is a nerd chick who is still in the closet about where she places on the Geek Spectrum. She brute Force removed a paper jam that broke the printer paper feed mechanism. So she went and got a replacement and the difficult began. But I groom the people I assist, I use the built-in tools for the operating system, if I'm driving, I am narrating my actions and explaining where and why at each step that I take. If it is a network issue, I give them just enough information to have an accurate but basic understanding of how networks and the internet works in general and then explain the problem in relation to that basic diagram with the steps required to fix the problem. I show the user the ping command and the tracert commands in Windows. Use Ipconfig to figure out the network diagram and then how to use the two previous utilities to determine where the problem is occurring. But the first things that I usually have the person do is to logout or restart the computer. This usually one of the first things that I have them do because it often does resolve weird Windows computer anomalies and abnormalities that random pop up. There is usually a time when I am helping a friend or a client and they realize by my references and behavior that I am a #marijuana smoker and seem to feel like there is some contradictory between being a Nerd who is in to all thinks geek and smoking #weed. There isn't #potheads are some of the biggest and most intelligent nerds in the world. #stonernerds are those who get all nerdy about all things #420 and #710. It means you know the name of #denisperon or #jackherer or#nerdstoner is a nerd about all things geek, being a nerd means you're excited and passionate about things. The light pollution in #northauburn is significantly less than in #sacramento which means you can see more stars and objects in the night sky. The shortage of #toiletpaper caused by #covid19 panic buying and hoarding had me searching the night sky looking for #klingons orbiting #uranus. I was pretty sure I could identify #jupiter and #mars as they align on in a row along the galactic plane. There is an app on the @google.play.store called #skymaps+ that was originally developed by @google but discontinued a while ago and released as open source where a group of volunteers continues to maintain and develop it. Once installed, it basically lets you aim your phone at an object jn the night sky and the app will identify it. The first screenshot was taken of the string pf object i thought were #jupiter, #mars, #saturn and not really visible to the naked eye, #pluto. It's a cool app that makes star gazing that much more enjoyable abd knowledgeable and best of all it is free. It's one of the first apps that I install on s new #Android device and I use whenever I'm looking up at the night sky. I have spent many a night smoking #marijuana while gazing at the night sky or taking pictures of the #moon. #astronomy is fun and the stars move and change locations seasonally in a dance so that the stars visible at #420 in the morning will have moved across the sky at #710. The one thing this program can't track is that 👽 #reefer @_weedallstar because he's orbiting uramus with the aforementioned Klingons. Ha. I'm done. So this is what happens when #boredom combines with #anxiety and crashes head on with being #dankrupt. I was on an important phone call where I had to answer questions that I would rather not think about right now in my life and the pen I was taking notes with was acting quirky. I began to #doodle to keep myself from letting my mind wander so that so wouldn't get lost in my own mind dwell on the past which acts like an accelerant in a fire to #anxiety and depression which I don't need during this #covid19 shit. That was two days ago and for the last two days, I have played with the digitized image of the doodle. In my warped mind, after watching @johncusack in #onecrazysummer I got the idea to truly animate it and this was my second attempt. Sure, it's as pathetic as the animations Lane made in #betteroffdead and so may have totally been thinking about dating dating Beth while I was doing it. It might have been better or funnier if I would have had some #marijuana but all is not dark and twisted as I have been having an amazing conversation with an awesome #stonerchick who understands firsthand where I am on my journey we call life. She is a really cool #reefer and it has been fun chatting with her through #instagram during this #selfisolation and an amazing #diversion and #amusement from reality. #photons are particles of light and what we capture with cameras are those particles essentially reflected back from the objects in the image and lenses and mirrors can be used to reflect, refract and magnify those particles. The first image is captured using a #motorolae5plus and the default main camera and lens of three back yard where I am sheltering in place during this #covıd19 outbreak. The second image was captured using a clip-on wide angle lens acquired from the dollar store. Sure, it distorts the image, which was taken vertically in portrait mode and not horizontal in landscape mode like the first image but it also contains a wider field of view so it is a trade-off. Small things can be used to enhance your #photography and as i can acquire othee tools and recover my other tools, I will share them and explain how to use them. You can get rid of the roubdes corners by using tge digital zoom until they disappear.
