hey, can i ask what you didn't like about TRK? (it's been so long since i read it all i can remember is it left me feeling empty)
Sure, but I haven't reread it ever so I too only have vague feelings to offer! I felt like the author had 0 idea what was supposed to happen in that book and just pulled everything out of thin air. The first 3 made sense as a whole, but that one ruined every single setup they presented. Everything I looked forward to was underwhelming - Gansey's death, the Raven King reveal, the "maybe the real king was the friends we've made along the way". Henry was super shoehorned in for no absolute reason and then ended with a bunch of super important roles, so he felt like a plot device rather than a character (This would have been so easily fixed by letting him be there since the beginning. Or at least book 3.). It is the kind of a series finale that makes you feel stupid for ever being excited about the series, which means I never got back into TRC after I finished it.

Oof let me tell you about the Dreamer Trilogy buckle up. Not gonna lie, the first book was actually pretty good! We always knew that Ronan was the author's favorite and it was nice to expand on his life after TRC and his relationship with Ronan, but that's about all it has going for it because the plot is just a mess if you can even call it a plot. Major "twists" are just repeated beats from TRC (literally the big bad is just the 2.0 version of a previous one with the exact. Same. Backstory.), so much stuff is retconned for the sake of moving the plot forward and just because the author decided to change them for convenience, and the reveals that are supposed to be shocking just feel really cheap. And if only readers wanna go in for Pynch then they're gonna be majorly disappointed. Because he and Ronan only interact once in the first book, NEVER in the second book, and at the very end chapters of the final book. Don't get me wrong. I really wanted to love the Dreamer Trilogy as much as I loved TRC but it wasn't very good. The only saving grace was the new character Jordan Hennessy (both of them) because her character arc is actually sick as heck and she could have held the whole trio loft down by herself like the author originally planned to do before making it a Ronan series, but other than that the rest of it just fell horribly flat. I know I'm in the minority here but after two years of the book being published I was finally able to figure out why I just didn't vibe with it.
Aaawww I am so sorry to hear that :( At least Jordan was there to pick it up!

Unnecessary petty drama that I find hilarious on Twitter, Winx is getting a remake (again) animated on good 3D rendering
They are picking a fight with the MLB fandom bcs….
The animation looks better!
Now the MLB fandom has decided the character design is “childish and horrible”
A children’s show’s protagonist (who is also a kid)….looks childish
Anyways , it’s so unnecessary but it’s treated as an actual serious fight like 😭😭😭
OhhHHhHHHH NNNOOOO XJSNSNSND what a devastating fandom war leaving nothing but orphans and salted earth in its wake!!! Cartoon fandoms exist on another level fr

thinking about “to know how it ends but still begin to sing it again” and “it’s a story about someone who tries” and “we raise our cups to orpheus not because he succeeds but because he tries. we understand implicitly that there’s value in his trying and even in his failure.” and “it’s a sad song but we keep singing even so.” even when you fail there is value in the fact that you tried and that you believed enough in your goal to try despite knowing you might fail. it is worthwhile to try, because you never know. maybe it will turn out this time! perseverance despite the odds is worth celebrating even if it ends in failure. success is not the only thing that matters. and you never know that the ripple effect of your actions might be. orpheus does not recuse eurydice but he succeeds in helping spring to come again and potentially in preventing other people from losing their loved ones as he did, and that is a good outcome. we do not see the effect he had on the other workers in hadestown. yes, orpheus failed, but maybe if they sing it again someone else will succeed. someone has to keep telling the story.

Eerna your liveblogging about Ladislav and questioning her name which is supposed to dainty name reminds me of Tandoori.
Tandoori is the name of a character in a novel i read a long time ago. I will always remember the name even if I can't remember why her parents decided to subject her to such pain
--her nickname is Tandy

its the serpent and the wings of night anon ~ im not sure if vincent is written to be sexy, but him being attractive is implied, honestly i visualize him as legolas without a receding hairline + the hair comes up to his shoulders. he is mentioned to be good looking i think, but then again i actually read the books nearly a year ago and i haven't touched any parts except the bits where oraya interacts with/grieves her father bc those are the only parts with substance so wjsdjhdks
Feel free to disagree with me!!! There's a million reasons to do so, the first being I'm only going off of second hand experiences. My reasoning for saying that is that 1) the vampires in general are supposed to be super sexy, to the point where their feeding on humans is a magical aphrodisiac that makes the humans horny, and 2) the general public, including her friggin love interest, sees Oraya as Vincent's "human whore". So even if Vincent is only parental and their interactions are never sexy, the author still brings that horrible horrible vibe to the table by connecting such things with them. It's the same thing I've seen in horny media before where the lead needs to be sexually connected to all the hot people of the opposite sex in the story, regardless of whether or not there's actually any substance to it. Thus, I can't imagine this one making me enjoy the toxic dad storyline!
