my (mostly) supergirl/katie mcgrath art (and now also some fic!) blog. please reblog, don't repost, i'm on all major social media platforms. come find my main @ekingston
I came across a post by @whythinktoomuch and @narraboths that I can’t find now but Lena Luthor coming over to Kara’s apartment wearing nothing but a fur coat and lingerie was mentioned and I know I am expected to handle these things like an adult but
here we are anyway blame them I won’t be held responsible for this
for an anonymous benefactor who asked for super-soft supercorp: do you guys ever think about dying the moments of tenderness Kara and Lena get to share now that canon can no longer get in the way?

i’ve opened up commissions again, please check my pinned post for more information!
two days ago i discovered that Procreate offers some simple animation options and i’ve been waiting for an idea to help me try it out—and then the wonderful & generous @stnballoon asked (only when pressed!) for something related to “Liar Liar Plants On Fire”… for a drawing: Lena’s reaction when the door opens and she realizes “Supergirl!”
much like Kara Danvers getting lovingly ambushed by Lena Luthor i am reduced to awed speechlessness by your unexpected but extremely appreciated support on ko-fi over the past few days. thank you so so SO much—your kindness & generosity are out of this world!!
Mermaids have been a fascination of mine since before I learned how to swim. Even as a little girl I preferred the darker narratives, so I had an absolute blast creating this not-so-little, not-so-harmless mermaid for the second edition of @broadsandbroadswords!
Kudos to the mods, the artists and to everyone who purchased the zine and helped make it a success—this year we raised over $6500 for the Transgender Law Center!
Lena Luthor has been looking for a properly celebratory way to break in her new desk. That little accident with the Harun El couldn’t have been better timed…
Lena looks at her, a conspiratorial glint in her eye. “You know,” she confides, leaning in close, “I am your boss’ boss. There’s no end to the strings I could pull for you.”
Kara huffs out a breathy laugh. This kind of work-related banter at last feels like familiar ground, and Kara wants to kneel down and kiss it with relief. “Buying the company to save my job feels a little bigger than ‘pulling strings’,” she retorts. “And, I’m sorry, but weren’t you the one who worried about showing favoritism?”
“Are you saying I shouldn't?” Lena’s voice lilts out of the corner of her mouth, drawing Kara’s eye to one of her glinting cuspids. “Imagine the gossip,” she drawls, “if the editorial staff somehow made the connection between the favors I’ve done you, and me asking you to come to my apartment and take off your clothes.”
Kara feels as if she’s been blindfolded and spun around violently a few times. There’s something unmistakably predatory now in the set of Lena’s jaw, and Kara is getting the distinct impression that Lena is waiting for Kara to do something about it.
But she can’t for the life of her figure out what that something might be.

In which Kara makes a tiny new enemy, Alex has an actual functioning gaydar, and Lena breaks up with James only to immediately start dating someone else. And Kara is fine! Except for the part where she’s really, really not.

Re: creating merchandise and art for your own fics, what was your inspo for Lena’s forearm tattoo in tSOS? Is it an existing design or something you made up? I’d love to have a visual because my imagination is sorely lacking heheh
thanks for asking, anon! i did give Lena’s tattoo entirely too much thought, but i’m not much of a designer myself so please forgive my poor attempt at sketching it out! so Lena’s tattoo design incorporates three symbols, the first being her cello (i’ve been imagining it’s one of these) which forms a kind of ‘backbone’, like this:
but style-wise, think of the delicacy, the shading and the preposterous precision of lonewolf_gd on Instagram. i imagined it a lot like the ones below, except instead of the elephant it’s the cello and instead of the triangles or the golden ratio it’s the repetitive loops of the Riemann zeta function, the shape of which partially mirrors that of a cello:
and finally the botanical part, Arnica Montana, which really is better for bruises than for aesthetics, haha, but i love the symbolism too much and figured Lena would choose meaning over charm as well! besides, a good tattoo artist can make even wolfsbane look beautiful:
