I have one of those robot vacuums but there's a mirror in the house low enough to the ground that the lidar scanner can see a nonexistent room in the reflection so on the navigation map it's generated I have a room that doesn't exist that I have to forbid the vacuum from entering.
Mount Raung, one of the most active volcanoes on the Indonesian island of Java, erupted on Tuesday, sending lava and ash thousands of feet into the sky. Raung towers more than 10,000 feet above sea level and has a 1.2-mile-wide caldera. This Overview shows its powerful eruption in 2015.
One of my favorite local trees, which I refer to as the split ash. Sometime in the distant past something terrible happened to this tree, but it prevailed and continues leafing out & making seeds every year despite being bifurcated nearly all the way to the ground. I wish there was a way for me to learn its history -- what did this? Was it lightning? An angry farm animal? A car? All I can conclude -- based on how well healed the split is -- is that the event occurred many years ago. The rest is a mystery.
